Alexander The Great Leader Essay
The Leader I Admire: Alexander The Great The leader I admire is Alexander The Great. Before
I go on to way I choose Alexander The Great as a leader that I admire. Here is a little biography
on Alexander The Great. BIOGRAPHY: Alexander The Great or know as Alexander III of
Macedon. He was born on 21 July 356 BC in a place named Pella which is capital city of the
Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander was a king of the Ancient Greek where he succeeded his father
Philip II to the throne at the age of twenty years old. `During his childhood, Alexander was raised
by a nurse, Lanike. He then was tutored by a relative of his mother named Leonidas and by his
father s general named Lysimachus. He was raised in the manner of noble Macedonian youths

This is due to him as being training living the style of a commanding general. He will give orders
to his army and those in his ruling power without any objection from them whatsoever. If
Alexander says A then A it is for those under his command. Even though most of the time
Alexander shows an autocratic leadership he can sometimes be a democratic leader. He will
discuss with his subordinates about things that is necessary for him to get an overview of his
way to rule the nation. Sometimes he sits together with his high officers in the army to plan
ways to conquer other land and there is also a time when he wanted to launch an attack to
another state and conquer it after a series of battle and long month of being away from his
family. His soldier was tired and misses their home so they told Alexander and Alexander so that
many of his soldier wanted to go home thus Alexander decided to go home and cancel the
invasion. WEAKNESS The weakness is shown in him is that he is reckless and a temper person.
Due to his temper in is leadership, he sometimes make bad decision and suffer great lost. Even so
he suffers great loss in battles he never losses the battle he is always notorious in the battle because

Liddle s Syndrome
4.2.0 Mutations: As was previously outlined, the cause of Liddle s syndrome is from ENaC over
presenting in the ASDN due to a mutation to the channel is the cause of Liddle s syndrome. It has
been shown that mutations on the gamma and beta subunits are responsible for the gain of function
in the ENaC. No mutation has been observed yet for the alpha subunit. Mutations occur at the level
of the gene for the beta and gamma subunit and cause either missense, nonsense or frameshift
mutations in the mRNA of the PY motif for ENaC(ref). This results in either a truncated proteinor
elimination of some amino acids from the PY motif, which interfere with the binding ability of
Nedd4 ligase and inhibit Nedd4 ligase binding, respectively. Overall, this either decreases or
eliminates the possibility of Nedd4 2 ligases ability to tag and degrade the ENaC. With the
inability to control ENaC surface expression at the kidney, its reabsorption of sodium will be
markedly increased due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As has been discussed, an inheritable mutation in genes coding for the beta and gamma subunits of
the ENaC, causing deletion or truncation of the PY motif leads to a disruption in ENaC
ubiquitination. Ubiquitination itself is the process of tagging a protein with a series of glycosyl
subunits, signalling its degradation at the proteasome, destroying the channel. With this inhibition in
ubiquitination, ENaC is expected to and is seen to have a much larger surface expression and
channel open probability, leading to an overall increase in sodium reabsorption which causes the
characteristic symptoms of Liddle s syndrome. Through understanding the two major regulatory
mechanisms at the levels of protein trafficking of the ion channel and protein protein interactions
with the channel itself, better methods of control and a better understanding of Liddle s syndrome
can be

Blood Movie Essay
The blood film and the background information considering their recent travel to Nigeria leads us
to believe this infection present in this patient is a form of malaria. The blood film provided for
the patient shows some morphological changes to erythrocytes as well as the malarial parasite
which is present.
Malaria is a vector borne infectious disease which contains 5 subspecies, of which Plasmodium
ovale is the most likely culprit in this case study. The species of malaria can be distinguished
between by thin blood films and analysing haematological abnormalities present, such as in
plasmodium falciparum infection no change occurs to erythrocyte shape and size whereas in P.
ovale infection erythrocytes are usually slightly enlarged, frequently an oval shape and often have
fimbriated edges (Moore, Knight and Blann, 2016).

Thrombocytopenia is commonly associated with leukaemia patients due to the dysfunctional bone
marrow and can result in easy bruising as their blood vessels when damaged will bleed however
due to the decreased platelet level they are unable to clot the bleeding and thus leads to bruising.
The patient s other symptom of severe malaise may also be linked to the leukaemia and anaemia,
due to the high proliferative rate of lymphoblasts in acute leukaemia, this can lead to less space for
erythrocyte development which causes normocytic anaemia commonly seen in patients with
leukaemia (Moore, Knight and Blann, 2016).
Leukaemias are disorders which are characterised by accumulation of white blood cells in bone
marrow or in blood. This is a result of haematopoiesis which is the mechanism of action for
production of blood cells from a progenitor however in the case of leukaemia an uncontrolled
proliferation occurs which is responsible for the sheer volume of leucocytes present in peripheral

Similarities Between The Holocaust And Salem Witch Trials
Comparing Tragedies What do two events that occured hundred of years apart have in common?
Although the Salem Witch Trials and the Holocaust were very different, they were both led by
misguided judgements of what makes people different. They both consisted of many tragedies
such as false accusation, killing innocent people, and lots of death. The Salem Witch Trials
began in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts (Salem Witch Trials 1). Three girls were accused of
witchcraft, and then proceed to blame the whole town of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials 1).
Bridget Bishop was the first woman hanged in June (Salem Witch Trials 1). Many people denied
witchcraft in Salem (Salem Witch Trials 1). 40,000 to 60,000 people were executed for being
accused of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials 2). General Court declared a day of fasting for the
tragedy (Salem Witch Trials 1). Thought the respected Minister Cotton Mather had warned of the
dubious value of spectral evidence, his concerns went largely unheeded during the Salem Witch
Trials, (Salem Witch Trials 1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary Of Fear And Loathing In America
In the article Fear Loathing in America by Hunter S. Thompson. The author described the dreadful
Tuesday morning including victims, enormous destroyed and the chaos that ensued in the
following that day. In addition to declaring the war and the Christian Jihad by this gawker work, he
sparked the religious war.
His words will make the American people hate and fear of the other religions especially the Islam.
After he said We are going to punish somebody for this attack ... Maybe Afghanistan, maybe
Pakistan or Iraq, or possibly all three at once. (Thompson, 2001, p.9) Instead of these words, he
should say we will punish who committed these tragic events and the American people will keep

the real mastermind for the fateful day? How terrorists attacked the United States of America in

A Brief Note On Air Transat Uses Altitude
SUMMARY 7; AIR TRANSAT USES ALTITUDE TO MANAGE ITS AIRCRAFT ROUTING,
CREW PAIRING, AND WORK ASSIGNMENT
Air Transat operates chartered flights for vacationing and flying customers to different spots all
over the world. There was need for the company to expand but due to the manual planning and
scheduling system the company employed, it does not have the capacity for expansion and rapid
growth. With the growth of their customers overwhelming, in 1993 air transit purchased a system
for airline operation management system, know as ALTITUDE, which is a three module
optimization package that will help them in the routing of their aircrafts, pair their crew members
and effectively assign their monthly work assignments.
This system will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like other air transport company, Air Transat employed a four phase planning and scheduling
procedure. The assignment of fleets and flight scheduling dictate the first part of all the fights that
will be flown during a specific period. This is done according to demand, the time given to
company at any airport and competitions from other company. The marketing department conducts
the evaluation and they turn in their findings to the department that are responsible for planning.
The planner then manually creates a schedule for maybe one year ahead and also he allocates the
fleets in the order of their importance, since the company is operating only three types of aircraft.
This planning of course is depends on demand by customers, the capacity of the aircraft and their
speed. Air Transat uses ALTITUDE for the designing of monthly batch of assignments for about 250
flight deck personnel through roaster. This also made it possible for them to use bidlines in creating
the schedules for their 900 flight attendants. With the growing trend recorded in the industry and
complications that may result in real world instance, the manual operations cannot solve a large
scale problems hence the need for the introduction of advance computer software. Besides giving
Air Transat the potentials to manage planning and scheduling, ALTITUDE also supported the
company s rapid growth

Laura Movie Analysis
In 1944, producer and director Otto Preminger released an 88 minute film noir that would soon
give rise to Hollywood stars such as Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney. This film, known as Laura,
quite subtly discusses a myriad of ideas and problems that the people of the time were still
struggling to deal with, the most important being homosexuality. The film begins with a scene that
involves the two main characters, Mark McPherson and Waldo Lydecker, together in a bathroom
with Lydecker eventually getting stepping of his bathtub, asking McPherson for a robe. McPherson
throws Lydecker his robe, and smirks in the process. The 1944 film noirclassic Laurauses Laura
Hunt, a woman that Lydecker is meant to be seen as in love with, as a façade that hides Lydecker
s homosexuality and attraction to the other men in the film.
Laura, a spectacular film noir classic produced and directed by Otto Preminger, tells the story of a
stunning young lady who the audience is led to believe was murdered in the entryway of her lavish
apartment. When the film begins its journey, the audience learns that a woman named Laura Hunt
(Gene Tierney) was shot in the face by an unknown murderer and that a handsome detective by the
name of Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) has taken over the case and is on the hunt to solve
Laura s death. As the film breezes through, the audience is introduced to several characters who
become increasingly important to the scene. For example, Preminger presents Shelby Carpenter

Henry Viii Influence
Literature has become the most important factor in the construction of the English monarchy. It
has become the way in which people communicate and share their ideas throughout the world.
English literature is the essential piece in ruling a country and determining the future for that
country. In England, English literature has evolved through a number of versions due to the
changes made to the policies and laws, religion, culture, and the monarchy. Henry VIII was born
on June 28, 1491 by Elizabeth of York and Henry VII at Greenwich Palace (BBC News). In his
early age, he was very interested in the arts and enjoyed reading literature. In 1509, Henry VIII
succeeded his father Henry VII (1457 1509), but had originally become heir to the throne after his
older brother, Prince Arthur, died in 1502 (Henry VIII (r.1509 1547)). He reigned during the
House of Tudor monarchy when he was only eighteen years old until he died in 1547, having
Edward VI succeed him. Throughout his years of reign, he married six women including: Catherine
of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. In
1527, Henry divorced Catherine of Aragon, since she could no longer conceive children, and
became infatuated with Anne Boleyn (Henry s Divorce). This decision led to the English Protestant
Reformation which were a series of events...[in] which the Church of England broke away from the
authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church (English Reformation).

Margaret Hungerford s Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder
Beauty. When you see that word, what do you think of? Your significant other? A Victoria s
Secret model? Maybe an ooey gooey bowl of mac and cheese? They say that beauty is in the eye
of the beholder , meaning perception of beauty is subjective from person to person. But is it
really? In today s society, we seem to have a preconceived notion of what we are supposed to
consider beautiful . Although it seems that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the ridiculous
standards and pressures of beauty created by the current modeling and entertainment industry have
caused us to form a warped view of body image and what we perceive as beautiful . Although the

Our minds can be molded by others in multiple different ways, such as through conformity, when
people alter their thoughts or behaviors to match another group or what is normal , or
persuasion, convincing an individual to accept a certain belief of another (Gray and Bjorklund).
Through these techniques, we can be easily influenced, and the media uses them every day to
shape our views of the world. From ancient times to present day, the concept of beauty has
changed tremendously. Back in the 17th and 18th centuries, society embraced models such as
Lillian Russell, a more heavyset woman that would most likely be shunned in the current
modeling industry (Bushak). Even in the mid 1900s, one of the most iconic women of the
century, Marilyn Monroe, was quite curvy herself (Bushak). Then, in the 1990s, skinny was in;
models were progressively becoming thinner and thinner to the point we are at now, influencing
the major eating disorder epidemic and body insecurities in adolescents we see today. Even I
have noticed this change in Disney Channel; over the years, the actors sizes have gone from a 10
to a 2. For example, the shows I used to watch included actresses like Raven Symone and more
recent shows, like Shake It Up, include actresses such as Bella Thorne and Zendaya. Young girls are

Persuasive Essay On The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
There has been much research in the effort of how to effectively clean and recycle the plastic
that has accumulated in the Great Pacific garbage patch. Many studies have found that the
process of actually trying to scoop up what is now a plastic soup like substance could pose a
number of issues. Some researchers say that the garbage patch could possibly be half the size of
the United States which would be a huge financial challenge for any country to undertake. Charles
Moore, an internationally recognized expert on marine plastic pollution and the man who
discovered the vortex, says cleaning up the garbage patch would bankrupt any country that tried it

Earth is drowning in plastic and it is time that we really dig deep on this issue as it s already
affecting the oceans ecosystem. Laws should be passed to make it illegal to dump trash in the
ocean and alternative methods of trash disposal need to be sought. Used water bottles, plastic
bags, coffee cups, and fish nets make up a huge portion of the Great Pacific garbage patch, this
can be avoided by simply passing legislation to make it illegal to dump trash in the ocean.
Raising awareness starts with informing your family and friends of what they can do to help
reduce their plastic usage and explain to them why it is harmful to the environment. Reduce your
everyday plastic usage such as sandwich bags, water bottles, and plastic utensils. These efforts
may not sound like much to combat such a huge global issue, but in this instance educating others

Marie Moreau And Alain Delon Star Persona
Both Jeanne Moreau and Alain Delon star persona s are notable for being embodiments of two
distinctly different approaches to France s burgeoning modernity in a post war context. Though
each star s representation of a new form of French modernity deviate due to their different
gendered experiences. Their images of modernity challenged traditional codes and conventions of
France s past and represented different and new ideas of the French individual. These challenges
were particularly gendered, through their perpetuation of new ideals and images of genderin French

She lived a new form of bourgeois lifestyle that was affluent, cultivated but more anti conformist
and less cynical, despite remaining very consumeristic. Her focus on leisure as well as individual
freedom, represented another key aspect of French modernity in its mirroring of capitalist and
Western ideology. This behaviour could be seen in her private life and filmroles, as she smoked,
drunk and strolled the streets of urban environments, while going to street bars, cafes, casinos.
Just like like the modern female Moreau showed a boredom with traditional bourgeois life and
her role as an urban woman, was a departure of typical conceptions of French femininity, that kept
the woman in the domesticated sphere. This urban femininity can be seen in many of her film
roles, such as the 1957 Louis Malle directed film Ascenseur Pour l Г‰chafaud (Elevators to the
Gallows). The film captures her freedom to wander and traverse the environment through its use
of tracking shots that trace her movement and emphasise her belonging and control over the
space. Moreau s modernity must also be considered through her significant role as an actor of the
New Wave. In many ways Jeanne Moreau became a personification of the New Wave style in her
star persona, and this shaped her image of femininity. As a New Wave star, Moreau rejected, the
overly constructed image of the French female, that dominated the persona of previous stars. Unlike

Conventional Drug Delivery Systems ( Ddss )
Abstract:
With the emergence of more novel and effective drug therapies, increased importance is being
placed upon the methods by which these drugs are being delivered to the body. Different
methodologies have been heavily investigated as possible solutions , one of these methods are
intelligent or Smart polymeric drug delivery systems . Stimuli responsive and self regulating drug
delivery systems have captured the imagination of researchers, in large part because they suggest a
means to mimic the physiological homeostatic feedback mechanisms that are essential for health.
As dysregulation of homeostasis is a feature of many diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
1.Introduction:
Conventional drug delivery systems (DDSs) are often accompanied by systemic side effects that
mainly are attributed to their nonspecific bio distribution and uncontrollable drug release
characteristics. To overcome these limitations, advanced controlled DDSs have been developed to
achieve the release of payloads at the target sites in a spatial controlled manner.
Commercially available controlled release devices offer several advantages, e.g. they maintain the
drug within the desired therapeutic range with just a single dose, they allow localized drug
delivery which ultimately may reduce the need for follow up care, they preserve drugs that are
rapidly destroyed by the body and ultimately improve patient compliance.
With the breakthrough of the biotechnology field in medicine, many advantages of

By the time he was 14 he was already snorting cocaine. He lies all the time, steals money from his
mother s purse and take items from the house. He does all of this to feed his addiction to cocaine.
His family doesn t want to give up on him but they are divided about what to do to help him
overcome this addiction. His addiction has split the family down the middle some wanting to
continue enabling him and others wanting to let him go completely. The one thing they do agree
on is if Chad continues down this path of destruction his actions would result in his death. A
person s cocaine addiction creates disorder and chaos for the entire family. When a person
succumbs to the addiction of cocaine family responsibilities are pushed to the back burner. The
addiction then becomes priority over everything that was once important. Children are neglected,
abandoned, and in some cases mentally and physically abused (Nazario, 1997). Cocaine addition
causes a person who once enjoyed spending time with family to become isolated and withdrawn
because they would rather be doing drugs with other addicts. Drug use is very harmful because it
will eventually take over a person s life. When a person becomes desperate to use drugs he or she,
will do anything to get them. They will steal money or items to sell to get their hands on drugs

SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES
To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages
resulting from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad
sense of the word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable
for them. This line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic)
damages.
The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also
known as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach
of contract in question.
Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special
circumstances attending the conclusion of the contract.
In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or
extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation
principle. The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually
or presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss
being sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year
200 in which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later

Symbolism And Origin Is The Cheshire Cat
For example one character within the story that critics are unsure of his symbolism and origin is
the Cheshire Cat. In the story the Cheshire Cat is a mysterious character. He appeared when he
choose to and disappeared a moment later. He had an odd sense of a personality, but spoke to
Alice using wise words and thoughts. It is not 100% clear why Carroll named this character
Cheshire Cat. To grin like a Cheshire Cat was a common phrase in Carroll s day. Its origin is
unknown, but it may have originated from a sign painter in Cheshire, who painted grinning lions
on the sign boards of inns in the area (Analysis). Even though the Cheshire Cat seemed crazy or
mad he did give Alicea dose of reality in Wonderland. He said things to her such as If you don t
know where you re going, any road will get you there or Every adventure requires a first step .
He had helped Alice realize that in order to find out who she is or where she must go she has to
be brave and take the first step. The Chesire Cat relates to the idea of the child adult conflict that
Alice may be going through because he helps her understand that she has to move forward in
order to find out where to go and if she is not sure what path to take in her life than she has
endless possibilities. The Cheshire Cat was an important character that helped Alice come to her
senses. Aside from the real life symbolism many of the characters possessed, Dodgson s Alice in
Wonderlandseries had a large impact on the music

Classroom Discipline And Management Literature Review
Classroom discipline and management literature review
Introduction
It is a fact that classroom management and discipline has always been a challenge to pre service
teachers as they do not know and have not acquired the necessary skills to deal with unruly learners
effectively. Often so, teachers in service use strategies that are incorrect or rather unacceptable;
whether this is done intentionally or under certain desperation to gain control and respect of the
learners. It is prevalent across the globe. Although the South African system has used corporal
punishment for many years to maintain discipline and management in the classroom; there have
always been other alternative ways which are effective and better as opposed to the harsh way of
discipline. The Constitution of South Africa specifically banned the use of this harsh treatment
because of the awareness that children are vulnerable and defenceless; therefore they are the ones
who are at risk of being victims of crime, beatings and psychological trauma that are an ultimate
result of being bullied by adults. My claim is that strategies used to maintain classrooms in public
schools are not acceptable if they cause a negative effect to the development of our children. And I
will argue that there are other alternatives that could be used to make sure that the classes run
smooth and without causing any intimidation to either the learners or teachers in this industry, as
the South African Journal of Education mentions that

Social Security Tax Research Paper
If you are like most people, than you would agree that a house near the coast, off the lake, the
ability to go anywhere in world, or any other type of way to enjoy retirement is a goal that many
Americans have. Do you know the tax that you are paying now that helps those who have
reached that goal? It s Social Security tax; you should know this because it is the largest tax that
comes out of your paycheck. That money taken out of your paycheck is not always being used
appropriately when it goes to the government, but those who work in the government say that the
money goes to the retired, unemployed, disabled, and the Medical care coverage for those who
qualify. Actually, a lot of it is taken out and is used by the government to help fund their... Show

When this happens those that depend on Social Security will be in danger of losing their place
of living, could lose healthcare benefits, and much more that would change their lives. That is
why I bring up the problem and try to convince ordinary people to help bring upon this change,
because I care for the well being of those in the country, and I do not want to see anyone suffer
from the mistakes of our government. If the community could raise awareness and need for change
of the current system, than we can begin voting for those in office to get the process in the works.
Out with old and in with the new. Looking past helping yourselves and generations to come, you
could also help the government by asking for this change. For everyone to understand, $906 billion
went towards Social Security a few years ago, so just imagine the temptation lifted from the
government ( Privatizing Social Security ProCon.org. ). My final statement is that with privatization
the money put into an account would be guaranteed unlike now with the government s reputation.
There are already people who agree with this side, some 60% of currently working adults assume
they will not receive Social Security benefits when they retire. ( Working in Retirement. ). You can
be like them and join them to help get this change and spread the word. With all this being said I
have to say that if the approach and application of this switch is done right then it can be one of the
most successful decisions for the

Graphene And Its Effects On Our Environment
ABSTRACT
Graphene is pure carbon in the form of a very thin, nearly transparent sheet, one at6om thick. It has
been hailed as a miracle material because of its low weight, high strength and high electrical and
heat conductivity. Since 2004, the graphene market has risen and with the potential for future
application could be a multibillion dollar business. Graphene has been planned to replace
conductors and also replace catalysts in enzyme immobilisation. Graphene can be manufactured in
ways that are low cost and high return.

GLOBAL MARKET
Even though graphene has only been on the market for a few short years, the global market for
graphene and its products has risen steadily since graphene was first isolated in 2004 by
Novoselov. With new products and uses being created the net worth of graphene has reached an
approximate $10 million dollars with most of the sales being concentrated into semiconductors, it is
expected to increase exponentially to 180 million by 2018 and even further if adapting graphene
into the silicon market. The great demand for graphene and future applications has encouraged
more manufacturers and suppliers throughout USA, Europe, and China.
SUPPLY
According to a US geologic survey in 2012, found that China had over half of the world s
graphite supply located in their mines. The leading governments of the world have become aware
of the technological importance of graphite was transformed recently from an academic material to
an important material. China has acted upon this by raising the tax on exported graphite leading to
an increase in graphite cost worldwide. Due to graphene being only one layer of carbon atoms, most
graphene products can be created with a fraction of a gram of graphite therefore one single graphite
mine could provide the world with graphene.
RESEARCH
Many big name technology companies have already started to experiment with graphene such as
IBM, Samsung, and Sandisk only small sections of their businesses have to do with graphene while

divisions whose employees have an attitude problem and, if so, why? (Conversely, if there are
divisions that have happy employees, I d like to hear about that too.) Based on our data, Division
1(manufacturing), reported significantly lower levels of job satisfaction in comparison to the
other 4 divisions. Manufacturing employees reported lower comparative satisfaction levels in the
following attitude measures: JDIPRO, UNDER, IMP1 and IMP4. This may be a result of limited
job complexity. On the other hand, the research and development employees in division 3,
reported significantly higher levels of satisfaction based on JDIW attitude measures. Higher
satisfaction levels in R amp;D can be a result of higher skill variety and task identity in comparison
to other divisions. In order to compare employee satisfaction by division (independent variable) and

Jesus Identity
The identity of Jesus
1 Corinthians 3:2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.
Understanding the true nature and identity of Jesus is a process, a journey, a lifelong commitment.
It cannot be proclaimed cold turkey just straight out of the blue.
Martin Kahler in a famous aphorism claimed that Mark is a passion narrative with an extended
introduction. However it is a necessary introduction. It is the milk before the solid food. If Mark
had began with Peter s declaration at chapter 8 it would ring hollow. The first eight chapters allow
us to see, as Peter saw, through Jesus teaching, healing, exorcisms, and preaching that there was
something much more than an amazing authoritative, divine man. These introductory

Comparing Milner And Goodale s Dichotomy
3.1 Anatomy of the two pathways
As visual information exits in the occipital lobe, it then follows two main pathways.
The dorsal pathway begins with V1, goes through V2, then to the dorsomedial area (DM/
V6) and Visual area MT (middle temporal/ V5) and to the posterior parietal cortex. The
ventral pathway travels from V1, goes through V2, then through visual area V4, and
finally to the inferior temporal cortex (IP cortex).
3.2 History before Milner and Goodale s division
I would like to use a sentence from Goodale Milner (1995) as a beginning. In the
late 1960s, a number of different functional dichotomies of the visual system were

Literature Review On Pancreas
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
1.Pancreas
1.1. Anatomy and History of Pancreas:
The pancreas is an organ situated just below the stomach and it contributes to the digestion of
foodstuffs and metabolism regulation. The pancreas was first described by the Greek anatomist,
Herophilus of Chalcedon around 300 B.C. and later named by Rufus of Ephesus around 100 AD
with the Greek term for all (pan) flesh (creas) because of its fleshy appearance . However, the
function of this tissue wasn t known until the 1850 s when Claude Bernard demonstrated that
pancreatic juice could digest fats and starches. Then, in 1869, Paul Langerhans described islands of
cells embedded within the fleshy tissue and these were later named islets of Langerhans in his
honour. Research by von Mering and Minkowski in 1889 was the first to connect the pancreas to
Diabetes Mellitus and later Eugene Opie provided evidence that it was the islets of Langerhans that
were involved in diabetes. (Busnardo et al.,1983). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glucose is transported into the pancreatic ОІ cell by type 2 glucose transporters (GLUT2). Once
inside, the first step in glucose metabolism is the phosphorylation of glucose to produce glucose 6
phosphate. This step is catalyzed by glucokinase; and its further metabolism in mitochondria alters
the adenosine triphosphate (ATP)/ adenosine diphosphate (ADP) ratio that leads to closure of ATP
sensitive K+ channels. It results in membrane depolarisation and opening of voltage gated calcium
channels. The subsequent increase in cytosolic free calcium ion (Ca2+) cause phosphorylation of
protein kinase which induce insulin secretion via exocytosis [(Ashcroft et al., 1994; Lang, 1999 and
Henquin, 2000) as shown in fig.

James Frey s Rehabilitation Journey
The beginning of James Frey s rehabilitation journey began when he was twenty three. His family
brought him to one of the best treatment facilities in the world (Frey, 2003). This was only after
he was put on a plan with no recollection of how he came to be the bloody mess that he was and
how he got to the plan. He knows that if he does not except help now that there might be a real
chance that he may not live much longer. This is because he can no longer control his abusive
tendencies (Frey, 2003). James Frey overall seemed to be a very stubborn individual and did not
want to follow the rules. The rehabilitation facility had very few strict rules. One at which being,
to not talk to others of the opposite sex. James defied this his very first night in the facility. This
only became worse when he began a relationship with same girl. James wanted to move forward
and get better, but he continually reminded himself that he would not be able to do it. It was
only over time that James did change and truly wanted to get sober (Frey, 2003). It is possible
that James Frey lacked the ability to cope with reality, this could be the reason why he had
turned to the use of drugs in the first place. He would use just about anything, if it were present.
While in treatment, James had to relearn how to live his live without the use of drugs. He had
suffered from Learned Helplessness, which was clearly seen when we first were introduced to
James. Frey also had no self efficacy, he

Difference Between Fate And Free Will
Fate and Free Will
Introduction
Why is the Tralfamadorian idea of time incompatible with free will? Free Will is a philosophical
term of art for a particular sort of capacity of rational agents to choose a course of action from
among various alternatives. In simple terms free will is what makes us able to make a decision, to
choose something you want over something you do not want. Since the Tralfamadorians are aliens
and have the ability to see the fourth dimension they can see things humans cannot see and have a
different understanding of the world, the universe and how everything in life works.
Does Billy Pilgrim exercise his own will at any point in the novel?
Billy Pilgrim comes across as a pretty simple guy, often other people make decisions for him but
as he grows older he takes things in his own hands more often. But does that mean he makes
decisions out of his own will?

even need Free Will and why is it not Free Will if everything is determined from the beginning

believe what we want to believe, we can also believe that Free Will is always possible. Even if
some things are given and cannot be changed why should there not be multiple ways to get to the
same end? At the same time, why should we even need free will? Is it not better without it?
Everything is predetermined, that may be frightening to some people but then again, why should it
be? It only means that no matter what you do, no matter how bad a situation may seem it is not
even your fault and it will work out in the end,

Analysis of Discretionary Fiscal Policy Essay
During discretionary fiscal policy the government spends and taxes to change the economy during a
particular problem. Both Congress and the president have to take action when they agree that the
economy is in need. When they do this they are trying to simulate the economy during a time of
recession. Economists thought discretionary fiscal policywould eliminate the instability of the
recession, however most had given up on the idea by 1980.
The most noticeable discretionary fiscal policy is the discretionary budget. These are the
expenditures calculated in the United States budget that are within the appropriations bills. These
are negotiated between Congress and the president each year. This includes almost all the spending

There are three types of lags recognition lag, administrative lag, and operational lag. From those
lags you must determine if they were an attribute to the failure. Each lag takes time to notice.
Recognition lag measures the state of the economy. This is a resultant from GDP because its not
measured neither quick enough nor easily found. During administrative lag the president and
Congress agree on a course of action. Two legislative bodies must agree and then agree with the
president. Congress doesn t solve problems without any disagreement, and eventually over a
period of time they will agree. The last type of lag is operational lag, this takes time to notice the
full impact of a government program or tax change to have the effect on the economy. This offers
the final block and even if both the president, and Congress agree on time it still takes time for
discretionary fiscal policy to have an effect. The next part of the three fold is that failures can be a
result from political motivations that overwhelm some economic reasons. Finally, the third part of
the three fold deals with the immediate counter effects of the aggregate demand and aggregate
supply, which this could either eliminate the positive intent of the policies either partially or
completely. Policy makers noticed in the 1970s that discretionary fiscal policy couldn t stabilize
the economy. The lags were just too important to ignore, and the recession to be recognized, laws to

Motive For Murder In Hamlet
Murder often represents the revenge or hatred felt by a desperate soul attempting to fill an empty
space. Shakespeare s Hamlet Prince of Denmark is full of death, but the true purpose behind tragic
murders is buried beneath a cynical reason. King Claudius slowly unravels the details of his dirty
act, and Queen Gertrude, Hamlet, and Ophelia all have a part in the deaths that occur throughout this
eventful play. The crimes that are committed only help to destroy the pitiful existence that each of
these characters portray. The horrific murders that take place throughout Shakespeare s Hamlet

Ophelia is a confusing and emotional character because her body does not match her mind;
mesmerizing on the outside but devious on the inside. Her life is constantly surrounded by men
who have either taken advantage of her beauty or people who believe she is actually going
insane. King Claudius and Hamlet are prime examples of men who continually disrespect her
kind heart. Letters are given back to Hamlet by Ophelia and this causes an intense conflict
between these two artful characters. Hamlet becomes extremely upset and states, That if you be
honest and fair, your honesty should admit no discourse to your beauty (Shakespeare 3.1. 107
108). Her destiny appears to be in a nunnery to prevent her dreadful life from progressing to
insanity, but reality snatches her first. Ophelia s motive of revenge is brought upon several
characters through a shameful crime; suicide. Her lifeless body floats in a bed of water
surrounded by flowers after the drowning occurs. Shakespeare s brilliant imagery provides the
reader with an insight of just how peaceful her death is, but it also guides the reader towards why
she killed herself in the first place. Revenge is the main reason of Ophelia s suicide and her wishes
come true after her brother, Laertes, is deeply affected. His sister has just died, and he is desperate

negatively impacts the future in various ways. The first being that it increases the rate of poverty

very dangerous task that could kill them, if they ever try to refuse the employer would just threaten

Ultimately, adults lose jobs because of child labour. Children, as stated in the Ethical Trading
Initiative are cheaper to pay... [and] less likely to complain than adults ( A Global, n.d.). This
states that children are less likely to question what they are doing for whatever money they can
get and although there are child labour rights they are not strict enough for employers to care.
Whereas adults have way more rights, can and will most likely try to fight against unfair working
conditions and need to be paid more leading most employers to lay off more adult workers in
favour of child labourers which in return reduce the amount of income for already poor families. In
conclusion, child labour increase the amount of poverty in society by having children get paid less,
children unable to fight back and the decrease of adult employment.
Secondly, Child labour helps regress society and stops it from growing by having Child labourers

Essay on John Cheever Suburban Life

John Cheever and the Suburban Life The average person from suburban America can be either

Cheever, an award winning writer, balances hope, uncertainty, and anxiety in his stories characters.
In Cheever s The Swimmer , the main character, Neddy Merrill, incorporates this description into

decides to swim through each pool in his county in order to swim home . This liveliness can be
compared to John Cheever and his writing style. In reference to Cheever, Samuel Coale, a critic,
states that, He does not attempt to penetrate the darker and desperate depths of life but eagerly
delights in the absurdities and arcane episodes of life (Coale 103). Cheever will always make
the reader aware of his style of writing. It is so different from others that it is easily recognized
through his characters actions and problems. This rare writing style is also evident in Cheever s
The Country Husband . Cheever uses descriptions so rare in his text that makes it evident it is his
writing. In the short story, The Country Husband , Cheever uniquely describes the night, Then it
is dark; it is a night where kings in golden suits ride elephants over the mountains (Cheever 518).
The main character, Francis Weed, is another suburbanite, and in reference to Coale s thoughts on
Cheever s writing, Cheever again does not show the bad side to life, but instead shows the
positive aspect of it. As Francis Weed barely cheats death after a plane crash that nearly takes his

Human Activities Like Dam Construction
Motivation and Objective
Human activities like dam construction, dredging, and agricultures cause large amount of sediment
transports in rivers, lakes, and estuaries. Erosion and sedimentation is a global issue that tends to be
primarily associated with water quality. Pollution by sediment has two major types. For a physical
dimension, erosion leads to excessive levels of turbidity in waters and the turbidity limits
penetration of sunlight thereby prohibiting growth of algae and rooted aquatic plants. High levels
of sedimentation lead to physical disruption of the hydraulic characteristics of the channel which
have serious impacts on reduction in channel depth, and it can cause increased flooding. For a
chemical dimension, the silt and clay fraction ( 62mm) is a primary carrier of adsorbed chemicals
originated from agricultures like phosphorus, chlorinated pesticides and most metals transported
into the aquatic system. The use of numerical hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport models
has greatly expanded to predict and interpret behavior of erosion and sediment runoff for controlling
sediment pollutant and keeping water resources safe. Unfortunately, predictions from such models
always contain uncertainty, and the overall uncertainty is poorly quantified and deterministic
predictions have been used in most applications. Because those predictions are often used in
situations that involve the potential for economic losses, ecological impacts, and risks to human

Thousands of years ago, in various parts of the world, a major discovery was made an intelligent

Puritan Influence On American Culture
The human brain is a story book filled with experiences. Every experience is a new page, and all
of these pages combine to form our personal perspective on the world. In America, we all have
an idea of what is right and what is wrong based off of our own experiences. This causes us to
have many biased views that do not capture the full picture. The values of our immigrant ancestors
define who we are today.
When we are children, we read various stories, and also taught many values from our parent s own
personal views. At the beginning of new generations, this cycle of teaching values repeats itself.
Many of these values we are taught today trace back to the groups that build our country.
When the Puritans landed upon the shores of America, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They viewed themselves as special people who had a covenant with God. They came to America
seeking to build a theocratic nation with religion as the focal point(PBS par. 2). This is why still to
this day, America is centered around religion.
The holiday of Christmas has always been a part of our Christian nation. The commercialization
of the holiday, however, came to be with the arrival of German immigrants. They brought with
them the idea of Santa Claus, the Christmas Trees, and the Easter Bunny(Chicchi par.6). Think
of how different Americans would be if only Christians celebrated Christmas, and Santa Claus
was not a part of the holiday. All of the ads and commercials around this time of year would be
drastically different, as well as our literature. All of the books that spur children s imagination
about elves and the North Pole would be lost. Some of the greatest memories I have of reading
came from my childhood around Christmas time. I loved reading novels inspired by Santa Claus
like The Polar Express. Stories of elves building toys and reindeer pulling sleighs give children
across our country a great imagination from a young

Bobbi Brown Research Paper
Russell J. Eckerman, a Marrieta motorist, is suing Bobbi Kristina Brown because of a car
accident in January. Bobbi Brown, 22, is the only daughter of Whitney Houston. The personal
injury lawsuit alleges that Bobbi Kristina drove a 2005 Jeep Liberty that smashed his 2007 Ford
Taurus at Holcomb Bridge Road and Martins Landing Drive on January 27, 2015. Nick Gordon,
Bobbi Brown s boyfriend, discovered her face down and unresponsive in a bathtub on January
31, 2015. She has been in a medically induced coma ever since. How did the accident happen?
According to legal documents, Eckerman claims Brown sped the day of the accident in
unfavorable weather conditions. She blew a tire of a nail on the road and swerved into oncoming
traffic and struck

Persuasive Essay On School Shootings
School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young
with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events
continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That
single question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be
done to stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health
services, poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive
political issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action
from being taken to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences
and to act in a pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing
number of school shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and
toxic masculinity. Guns are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in
overwhelming cases, in school shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal.
It is also no secret that the United States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to
Samantha Gupta from the Harvard Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270
million guns, more than the civilians of the 21 other countries that had school shootings own
combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of the population one each. This is caused by lax gun
control laws and the loopholes that exist within them. The failure of the US government to
implement universal background checks and bans on certain types of guns and ammunitions have
allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal weapons. And these people wreak havoc.
From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have experienced a school shootingin the given
time period, the average number of school shootings per firearmper capita is 0.111; America s
average is over five times higher.
Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet
have almost no school shootings. While the Swiss do have many guns, they are not allowed to
possess

The Foreclosure Of The Last Couple Years
Foreclosure in the last couple years has become a well known word to a lot of young people, and
has become more frequent in the last couple of years. My family has gone through the process
and it was a very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one
that could be rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option
makes it not only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone
through foreclosure. Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get
the housing market back on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a
home. Allowing people the option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants
and allows longer time to come up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or
foreclosed on. The less people that are foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be.
Currently the market is great for anyone who is financially stable to purchase any home that has a
foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own was made more available the people looking
for homes, then it would allow them to save more money until they were financially stable to either
buy the home, or move to another affordable location. The owners who do offer the rent to own
option are not only allowing the tenants time to come to a more stable financial state, but are
making money themselves. If the

Liddle s Syndrome 4.2.0 Mutations: As was previously outlined, the cause of Liddle s syndrome is from ENaC over presenting in the ASDN due to a mutation to the channel is the cause of Liddle s syndrome. It has been shown that mutations on the gamma and beta subunits are responsible for the gain of function in the ENaC. No mutation has been observed yet for the alpha subunit. Mutations occur at the level of the gene for the beta and gamma subunit and cause either missense, nonsense or frameshift mutations in the mRNA of the PY motif for ENaC(ref). This results in either a truncated proteinor elimination of some amino acids from the PY motif, which interfere with the binding ability of Nedd4 ligase and inhibit Nedd4 ligase binding, respectively. Overall, this either decreases or eliminates the possibility of Nedd4 2 ligases ability to tag and degrade the ENaC. With the inability to control ENaC surface expression at the kidney, its reabsorption of sodium will be markedly increased due to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As has been discussed, an inheritable mutation in genes coding for the beta and gamma subunits of the ENaC, causing deletion or truncation of the PY motif leads to a disruption in ENaC ubiquitination. Ubiquitination itself is the process of tagging a protein with a series of glycosyl subunits, signalling its degradation at the proteasome, destroying the channel. With this inhibition in ubiquitination, ENaC is expected to and is seen to have a much larger surface expression and channel open probability, leading to an overall increase in sodium reabsorption which causes the characteristic symptoms of Liddle s syndrome. Through understanding the two major regulatory mechanisms at the levels of protein trafficking of the ion channel and protein protein interactions with the channel itself, better methods of control and a better understanding of Liddle s syndrome can be ... Thrombocytopenia is commonly associated with leukaemia patients due to the dysfunctional bone marrow and can result in easy bruising as their blood vessels when damaged will bleed however due to the decreased platelet level they are unable to clot the bleeding and thus leads to bruising. Leukaemias are disorders which are characterised by accumulation of white blood cells in bone marrow or in blood. Although the Salem Witch Trials and the Holocaust were very different, they were both led by misguided judgements of what makes people different. • 9. Laura Movie Analysis In 1944, producer and director Otto Preminger released an 88 minute film noir that would soon give rise to Hollywood stars such as Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney. This film, known as Laura, quite subtly discusses a myriad of ideas and problems that the people of the time were still struggling to deal with, the most important being homosexuality. The film begins with a scene that involves the two main characters, Mark McPherson and Waldo Lydecker, together in a bathroom with Lydecker eventually getting stepping of his bathtub, asking McPherson for a robe. McPherson throws Lydecker his robe, and smirks in the process. The 1944 film noirclassic Laurauses Laura Hunt, a woman that Lydecker is meant to be seen as in love with, as a faГ§ade that hides Lydecker s homosexuality and attraction to the other men in the film. Laura, a spectacular film noir classic produced and directed by Otto Preminger, tells the story of a stunning young lady who the audience is led to believe was murdered in the entryway of her lavish apartment. When the film begins its journey, the audience learns that a woman named Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney) was shot in the face by an unknown murderer and that a handsome detective by the name of Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) has taken over the case and is on the hunt to solve Laura s death. In today s society, we seem to have a preconceived notion of what we are supposed to consider beautiful . Although it seems that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the ridiculous standards and pressures of beauty created by the current modeling and entertainment industry have caused us to form a warped view of body image and what we perceive as beautiful . Through these techniques, we can be easily influenced, and the media uses them every day to shape our views of the world. From ancient times to present day, the concept of beauty has changed tremendously. Even in the mid 1900s, one of the most iconic women of the century, Marilyn Monroe, was quite curvy herself (Bushak). Then, in the 1990s, skinny was in; models were progressively becoming thinner and thinner to the point we are at now, influencing the major eating disorder epidemic and body insecurities in adolescents we see today. Even I have noticed this change in Disney Channel; over the years, the actors sizes have gone from a 10 to a 2. Her focus on leisure as well as individual freedom, represented another key aspect of French modernity in its mirroring of capitalist and Western ideology. This behaviour could be seen in her private life and filmroles, as she smoked, drunk and strolled the streets of urban environments, while going to street bars, cafes, casinos. Just like like the modern female Moreau showed a boredom with traditional bourgeois life and her role as an urban woman, was a departure of typical conceptions of French femininity, that kept the woman in the domesticated sphere. This urban femininity can be seen in many of her film roles, such as the 1957 Louis Malle directed film Ascenseur Pour l Г‰chafaud (Elevators to the Gallows). The film captures her freedom to wander and traverse the environment through its use of tracking shots that trace her movement and emphasise her belonging and control over the space. Conventional Drug Delivery Systems ( Ddss ) Abstract: With the emergence of more novel and effective drug therapies, increased importance is being placed upon the methods by which these drugs are being delivered to the body. Different methodologies have been heavily investigated as possible solutions , one of these methods are intelligent or Smart polymeric drug delivery systems . Stimuli responsive and self regulating drug delivery systems have captured the imagination of researchers, in large part because they suggest a means to mimic the physiological homeostatic feedback mechanisms that are essential for health. As dysregulation of homeostasis is a feature of many diseases such as diabetes and cancer. 1.Introduction: Conventional drug delivery systems (DDSs) are often accompanied by systemic side effects that mainly are attributed to their nonspecific bio distribution and uncontrollable drug release characteristics. To overcome these limitations, advanced controlled DDSs have been developed to achieve the release of payloads at the target sites in a spatial controlled manner. Commercially available controlled release devices offer several advantages, e.g. they maintain the drug within the desired therapeutic range with just a single dose, they allow localized drug delivery which ultimately may reduce the need for follow up care, they preserve drugs that are rapidly destroyed by the body and ultimately improve patient compliance. Breach of a contract involves conducts, which are inconsistent with proper performance of the agreement. It is a violation of a material fact of the agreement. The ... SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages resulting from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad sense of the word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable for them. This line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic) damages. The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also known as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach of contract in question. Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special circumstances attending the conclusion of the contract. In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation principle. The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually or presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss being sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year 200 in which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later repudiated the ... • 21. Symbolism And Origin Is The Cheshire Cat For example one character within the story that critics are unsure of his symbolism and origin is the Cheshire Cat. In the story the Cheshire Cat is a mysterious character. He appeared when he choose to and disappeared a moment later. He had an odd sense of a personality, but spoke to Alice using wise words and thoughts. It is not 100% clear why Carroll named this character Cheshire Cat. To grin like a Cheshire Cat was a common phrase in Carroll s day. Its origin is unknown, but it may have originated from a sign painter in Cheshire, who painted grinning lions on the sign boards of inns in the area (Analysis). Even though the Cheshire Cat seemed crazy or mad he did give Alicea dose of reality in Wonderland. He said things to her such as If you don t know where you re going, any road will get you there or Every adventure requires a first step . He had helped Alice realize that in order to find out who she is or where she must go she has to be brave and take the first step. The Chesire Cat relates to the idea of the child adult conflict that Alice may be going through because he helps her understand that she has to move forward in order to find out where to go and if she is not sure what path to take in her life than she has endless possibilities. The Cheshire Cat was an important character that helped Alice come to her senses. • 22. Classroom Discipline And Management Literature Review Classroom discipline and management literature review Introduction It is a fact that classroom management and discipline has always been a challenge to pre service teachers as they do not know and have not acquired the necessary skills to deal with unruly learners effectively. Often so, teachers in service use strategies that are incorrect or rather unacceptable; whether this is done intentionally or under certain desperation to gain control and respect of the learners. It is prevalent across the globe. Although the South African system has used corporal punishment for many years to maintain discipline and management in the classroom; there have always been other alternative ways which are effective and better as opposed to the harsh way of discipline. The Constitution of South Africa specifically banned the use of this harsh treatment because of the awareness that children are vulnerable and defenceless; therefore they are the ones who are at risk of being victims of crime, beatings and psychological trauma that are an ultimate result of being bullied by adults. My claim is that strategies used to maintain classrooms in public schools are not acceptable if they cause a negative effect to the development of our children. And I will argue that there are other alternatives that could be used to make sure that the classes run smooth and without causing any intimidation to either the learners or teachers in this industry, as the South African Journal of Education mentions that ... • 30. Literature Review On Pancreas REVIEW OF LITERATURE 1.Pancreas 1.1. Anatomy and History of Pancreas: The pancreas is an organ situated just below the stomach and it contributes to the digestion of foodstuffs and metabolism regulation. The pancreas was first described by the Greek anatomist, Herophilus of Chalcedon around 300 B.C. and later named by Rufus of Ephesus around 100 AD with the Greek term for all (pan) flesh (creas) because of its fleshy appearance . However, the function of this tissue wasn t known until the 1850 s when Claude Bernard demonstrated that pancreatic juice could digest fats and starches. Then, in 1869, Paul Langerhans described islands of cells embedded within the fleshy tissue and these were later named islets of Langerhans in his honour. Research by von Mering and Minkowski in 1889 was the first to connect the pancreas to Diabetes Mellitus and later Eugene Opie provided evidence that it was the islets of Langerhans that were involved in diabetes. During administrative lag the president and Congress agree on a course of action. Two legislative bodies must agree and then agree with the president. • 37. Human Activities Like Dam Construction Motivation and Objective Human activities like dam construction, dredging, and agricultures cause large amount of sediment transports in rivers, lakes, and estuaries. Erosion and sedimentation is a global issue that tends to be primarily associated with water quality. Pollution by sediment has two major types. For a physical dimension, erosion leads to excessive levels of turbidity in waters and the turbidity limits penetration of sunlight thereby prohibiting growth of algae and rooted aquatic plants. High levels of sedimentation lead to physical disruption of the hydraulic characteristics of the channel which have serious impacts on reduction in channel depth, and it can cause increased flooding. For a chemical dimension, the silt and clay fraction ( 62mm) is a primary carrier of adsorbed chemicals originated from agricultures like phosphorus, chlorinated pesticides and most metals transported into the aquatic system. The use of numerical hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport models has greatly expanded to predict and interpret behavior of erosion and sediment runoff for controlling sediment pollutant and keeping water resources safe. Unfortunately, predictions from such models always contain uncertainty, and the overall uncertainty is poorly quantified and deterministic predictions have been used in most applications. • 42. Puritan Influence On American Culture The human brain is a story book filled with experiences. Every experience is a new page, and all of these pages combine to form our personal perspective on the world. In America, we all have an idea of what is right and what is wrong based off of our own experiences. This causes us to have many biased views that do not capture the full picture. The values of our immigrant ancestors define who we are today. When we are children, we read various stories, and also taught many values from our parent s own personal views. They came to America seeking to build a theocratic nation with religion as the focal point(PBS par. 2). This is why still to this day, America is centered around religion. The holiday of Christmas has always been a part of our Christian nation. The commercialization of the holiday, however, came to be with the arrival of German immigrants. They brought with them the idea of Santa Claus, the Christmas Trees, and the Easter Bunny(Chicchi par.6). Think of how different Americans would be if only Christians celebrated Christmas, and Santa Claus was not a part of the holiday. All of the ads and commercials around this time of year would be drastically different, as well as our literature. All of the books that spur children s imagination about elves and the North Pole would be lost. Some of the greatest memories I have of reading came from my childhood around Christmas time. I loved reading novels inspired by Santa Claus like The Polar Express. Stories of elves building toys and reindeer pulling sleighs give children across our country a great imagination from a young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Persuasive Essay On School Shootings School shootings strike into the heart of every American. The thought of innocent students, young with limitless potential, being mercilessly mowed down wrenches one s heart. Yet these events continue to happen. What could possibly drive a person to commit such a horrifying act? That single question has created a fierce debate over the causes of school shootings and what should be done to stop them. The many possible causes include lax gun control laws, poor mental health services, poverty, culture, psychological thresholds, and even masculinity. They touch on sensitive political issues that cause intense division. This divisiveness has prevented any federal action from being taken to directly address the problem. However, it is important to set aside differences and to act in a pragmatic manner. Although some may not like it, it is clear that the increasing number of school shootings in the US is caused by a combination of weak gun control laws, and toxic masculinity. Guns are created to kill. They have been used in many mass shootings and in overwhelming cases, in school shootings. The crowdedness of school campuses make them lethal. It is also no secret that the United States is the wild west when it comes to guns. According to Samantha Gupta from the Harvard Political Review, American civilians own an astounding 270 million guns, more than the civilians of the 21 other countries that had school shootings own combined. That is enough guns to give 84% of the population one each. This is caused by lax gun control laws and the loopholes that exist within them. The failure of the US government to implement universal background checks and bans on certain types of guns and ammunitions have allowed potentially dangerous people access to lethal weapons. And these people wreak havoc. From Gupta again, Out of all these countries that have experienced a school shootingin the given time period, the average number of school shootings per firearmper capita is 0.111; America s average is over five times higher. Often, detractors will point to countries like Switzerland that have high levels of gun ownership yet have almost no school shootings. While the Swiss do have many guns, they are not allowed to possess ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Foreclosure Of The Last Couple Years Foreclosure in the last couple years has become a well known word to a lot of young people, and has become more frequent in the last couple of years. My family has gone through the process and it was a very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one that could be rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option makes it not only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone through foreclosure. Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get the housing market back on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a home. Allowing people the option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants and allows longer time to come up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or foreclosed on. The less people that are foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be. Currently the market is great for anyone who is financially stable to purchase any home that has a foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own was made more available the people looking for homes, then it would allow them to save more money until they were financially stable to either buy the home, or move to another affordable location. The owners who do offer the rent to own option are not only allowing the tenants time to come to a more stable financial state, but are making money themselves. If the ...
