Generic Sildenafil Citrate tablets are used as an oral therapy for
the treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence or inability to
get or keep an erection sufficient to successfully complete sexual
activity) in men.
Sildenafil Citrate restores impaired erectile function by increasing
blood flow to the penis, resulting in a natural response to sexual
stimulation and helps men get an erection.
Generic Sildenafil Citrate is also used to improve the ability to
exercise in adults with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH).

Uses of Generic Sildenafil Citrate Tablets
Generic Sildenafil Citrate is used to treat male sexual function
problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction - ED). In combination
with sexual stimulation, Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow
to the penis to help a man get and keep an erection. To treat
erectile dysfunction-ED, take this drug by mouth as directed by
your doctor, usually as needed. Take Sildenafil at least 30 minutes,
but no more than 4 hours, before sexual activity (1 hour before is
the most effective).
Generic Sildenafil is also used to treat pulmonary arterial
hypertension and improve exercise capacity to improve exercise
ability and delay clinical worsening in men and women.

How Does Generic Sildenafil Citrate Work?
Generic Sildenafil Citrate works by relaxing the blood
vessels in your penis when you are sexually excited.
In combination with sexual stimulation, Sildenafil works
by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get
and keep an erection in the natural way.
Sildenafil Citrate will work only if you are sexually
excited.

Generic Sildenafil Citrate Dosage
The recommended dose of Generic Sildenafil Citrate
tablets is 50 mg which is taken, as required,
approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However,
Generic Sildenafil may be taken anywhere from 30
minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity.
Based on effectiveness and toleration, the dose may be
increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg
or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum recommended
dosing frequency is once per day.

Storage Instructions
Generic Sildenafil Citrate tablets or jelly
sachets have to be stored at controlled room
temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to
77°F) with excursions permitted between 15°
to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines away
from children and pets.

Contraindications
Generic Sildenafil Citrate tablets or jelly sachets are
contraindicated in the following cases:
Known hypersensitivity to Sildenafil Citrate or any inactive
ingredients present in this medication.
When taking nitric oxide donors, organic nitrites and nitrates,
such as glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin), sodium nitroprusside,
amyl nitrite ("poppers")
Severe hepatic impairment (decreased liver function)
In men for whom sexual intercourse is inadvisable due to
cardiovascular risk factors

Severe impairment in renal function
Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Recent stroke or heart attack
Hereditary degenerative retinal disorders (including genetic
disorders of retinal phosphodiesterases)

Warnings
Patients must not use Generic Sildenafil Citrate tablets or jelly in case
sexual activity is contraindicated due to their cardiovascular status.
Patients must stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical
attention in case a sudden loss of vision occurs in one or both eyes,
which could be a sign of non arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy
(NAION).
Generic Sildenafil must be used with caution, and only in cases when
the anticipated benefits outweigh the risks, in patients with a history of
NAION.
Patients with a "crowded" optic disc can also be at an increased risk of
NAION.

Warnings
Use Sildenafil Citrate with caution in patients with anatomical
deformation of the penis (e.g., angulation, cavernosal fibrosis, or
Peyronie's disease) or in patients who have conditions, which may
predispose them to priapism (e.g., sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma,
or leukemia).
In the case of an erection that lasts for more than 4 hours, the patient
should seek immediate medical treatment.
In case priapism (painful erection greater than 6 hours in duration) is
not treated immediately, penile tissue damage and permanent loss of
potency could occur.

Warnings
Patients should stop using Generic Sildenafil Citrate and seek
immediate medical care in the case of sudden decrease or loss of
hearing.
Caution is advised when Generic Sildenafil Citrate is co-administered
along with alpha-blockers or anti-hypertensives. Using both the
medicines at the same time can lead to hypotension.
Decreased blood pressure, syncope, and prolonged erection can take
place at higher Sildenafil Citrate exposures.
In patients taking strong CYP inhibitors, such as Ritonavir, Sildenafil
exposure is increased. Decrease in Generic Sildenafil Citrate dosage is
recommended.

Driving and using Machines
Sildenafil Citrate has moderate influence on the ability to drive
and use machines.
As dizziness and altered vision were reported in clinical trials
with Sildenafil Citrate tablets, patients should be aware of how
they might be affected by Generic Sildenafil Citrate, before
driving or using machines.

Side Effects
Side effects of Sildenafil Citrate greater than or equal to 3% and
more frequent than placebo were epistaxis, headache, dyspepsia,
flushing, insomnia, erythema, dyspnea, and rhinitis.
Tell your doctor as soon as possible in case you observe any of the following
symptoms: unusual heart beat, urinary tract infection, blood in the urine,
changes in vision such as blurring, a blue colour to your vision or a greater
awareness of light, persistent headache or fainting and bleeding from the
nose.
Seek immediate medical care in case of the following rare but serious
Generic Sildenafil Citrate side effects such as signs of allergy (shortness of
breath, wheezing or difficulty breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue or
other parts), chest pain, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, seizures, fits or
convulsions are observed.

Overdose
In studies conducted with healthy volunteers of single doses of
Sildenafil Citrate up to 800 mg, adverse reactions were similar
to those observed at lower doses but incidence rates and
severities were increased.
In cases of overdose of Generic Sildenafil Citrate, standard
supportive measures must be used as necessary.
Renal dialysis is not expected to accelerate clearance as
Sildenafil Citrate is highly bound to plasma proteins and it is
not eliminated in the urine.

Generic Sildenafil Citrate During Pregnancy
Sildenafil Citrate has been classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category B.
Animal reproduction studies conducted with sildenafil
showed no evidence of embryo-fetal toxicity or
teratogenicity at doses up to 32- and 65-times the
recommended human dose (RHD) of 20 mg three times a
day in rats and rabbits, respectively.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies
conducted of Sildenafil Citrate in pregnant women.
