Brief history of Ancient Greece 3650 BC to 146 BC. It includes the early civilizations, the Greek dark ages, Archaic Greece, Classical Greece and Hellenistic Greece.
The name of Athens, connected to the name of its patron goddess Athena, originates from an earlier Pre-
Greek language.
The etiological myth explaining how Athens acquired this name through the legendary contest between Poseidon and Athena was described by Herodotus, Apollodorus, Ovid, Plutarch, Pausanias and others.
Plato, in his dialogue Cratylus, offers his own etymology of Athena's name connecting it to the phrase ἁ θεονόα or hē theoû nóēsis (ἡ θεοῦ νόησις, 'the mind of god')
Unit 7: Greco-Roman: Early Experiments in Participatory GovernmentBig History Project

The History of Ancient Greece Essay
Athens has been the centre of Greek civilization for some of 4,000 years. As the capital of modern Greece, it is still dominated by 5th-century-B.C.E. landmarks. Including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings such as the colonnaded Parthenon temple. But fear not you city break lovers; Athens is also a contemporary city, not uncommon for its nightlife hubs of Kolonaki, Psiri and Gazi that stay busy until dawn.
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in the myth of the lost continent
Atlantis, which Plato wrote about. Atlantis was an extensive insular continent that sunk into
the sea and disappeared without a trace. Its inhabitants had developed an exceptionally high
standard of civilisation. Where it was located we probably never will know for sure but many serious investigators think that it might very well be the former Santorini. For many years I also dreamt about visiting Santorini and two years ago my dream came true. The history of this island really intrigued me and its beauty and grandeur are unparalleled. Awe mixed with fear is what I felt when I stood on top of a huge cliff and looked down at the volcano and the caldera. I was standing on historical ground and I got a strong feeling that here I had found the lost Atlantis!

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
