Kaisariani is a suburban town located 3 km southeast of Athens, Greece. It was founded in 1922 as a refugee camp for people driven from Asia Minor after World War I. During World War II, 200 Greek political activists were executed by Nazi occupiers at the Kaisariani rifle range in 1944. In the same year, 10 members of the resistance were killed when trapped by Nazi forces at the Kaisariani Monastery. As of 2011, Kaisariani had a population of 26,458 people within its 7.841 square km area.
