The Warren Public Library is switching its online catalog from eLibrary to a new system called Enterprise on November 12. Enterprise offers more features like Google-like searching from a single search box and search correction. It allows patrons to search first before narrowing results compared to eLibrary which required narrowing search parameters first before searching. The document then demonstrates searching for items by Lee Child in both systems and highlights new features in Enterprise like sharing search results, different viewing options, and account management features.

Explore Your World with EBSCO's ExploraKarenSteiger2
An instructional presentation for my LIS 702 course at Dominican University (a graduate Library and Information Science course). The assignment tasks students with creating a PowerPoint presentation instructing users to use a reference source cited in a previous assignment. I am not affiliated with EBSCO or the Schaumburg Township District Library; I assumed the role of a reference librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library to meet the parameters of the assignment. I would be delighted if you find this guide helpful, however!

Similar to Enterprise - New Warren Public Library Catalog (20)
2. On November 12, the Warren Public Library will be
switching its web catalog from eLibrary to a new
catalog interface called Enterprise. This is being
done for several reasons, including:
1. Enterprise has more features.
2. Enterprise offers Google-like searching (single
search box, search correction), making it easier
to use.
3. Everything that could be
done in eLibrary can still
be done in Enterprise:
Look up items
Place holds
View your account

4. In eLibrary, our old web catalog, you narrow your
search parameters and then search.
In Enterprise, you search and then narrow your results.
To show the difference, let’s search for items by Lee
Child using both eLibrary and Enterprise.
5. In eLibrary, you enter your
search terms and choose
your library. In our case, we
are just searching “Lee
Child” as a word or phrase
search.
If you want to limit by
material type (audiobook,
DVD, CD) you need to either
use Power Search or
remember to type
[videorecording] or [sound
recording].
6. Search results are
returned, and
feature a mixture of
material types
(audiobooks, print,
electronic
resources).
If you wish to limit
results you need to
scroll down…
7. …and enter in either
new search terms or
use the format, type,
and location
dropdowns to limit
materials.
8. In Enterprise, type
your search terms
here.
We will type in Lee
Child and then
press Enter or click
Search.
9. Enterprise returns a list of items from throughout
all of the libraries in the Suburban Library
Cooperative that match your terms.
To show results from specific Warren libraries,
click on the box next to the Warren Library
location you wish to view . Depending on the
search, you may need to click Expand All to see
the Warren Libraries.
To narrow your results by item type, subject,
author, etc…click on the links or use check boxes
on the left-hand side. To use the check boxes, click
the options you want, and then click Include or
Exclude to narrow your results.
10. Let’s now take a look at some of the features of
Enterprise, including:
Search Correction
Search Options
Sharing Options
Search Results Views
Accounts
Enterprise Homescreen

12. If you misspell a word in eLibrary, you
will not get any search results.
If you misspell a
word in Enterprise,
it will try to correct
your search terms
and return results
much like Google
does.
13.
14. Before conducting a search you can limit by title, author,
subject, and more by using the All Fields dropdown.
You can also click Advanced Search…
15. …which will allow you to select the library and format
type before you search, as well as other search parameters.
