This document provides instructions for accessing and using the EBSCO database through the u-Pustaka portal. It explains how to log in to the portal, navigate to the EBSCO link, and introduces the main features and search functions available on the EBSCO platform, including searching for articles, companies, and ebooks. Screenshots illustrate steps like selecting databases, performing searches using Boolean operators, viewing search results, and downloading materials. 2.  Perkhidmatan pangkalan data EBSCOHost kini boleh diakses secara
terus (direct, single sign-on access) melalui portal u-Pustaka oleh
ahli berdaftar u-Pustaka.
 Pastikan anda telah log masuk ke sistem portal u-Pustaka (menggunakan
login dan password masing-masing) terlebih dahulu sebelum memulakan akses.
 Setelah berjaya log masuk ke sistem portal, sila klik pada ikon Pangkalan data
(di segmen pautan Pintas di muka depan portal) atau secara alternatifnya,
Anda boleh pergi ke menu Perkhidmatan >> Pangkalan Data. Daripada senarai
pangkalan data yang ada , sila cari serta klik pada logo atau pautan akses ke
pangkalan data EBSCO. Anda akan diberikan akses secara terus kepada
pangkalan data EBSCO sejurus selepas itu.

4. Halaman Kedua (2nd Layer) Portal EBSCOHost
Sika klik pada petak checkbox Select / Deselect All untuk mengaktifkan kesemua
pangkalan data yang ada di bawah EBSCOHost. Kemudian klik butang Continue.

Boolean Operators: Search Tips
• AND is used between terms to narrow your search
− diabetes AND obesity will retrieve references containing both
search terms
• OR is used between terms to broaden your search
− diet OR nutrition will retrieve references containing either
search term
• NOT is used to omit a term from your search
− cancer NOT smoking will retrieve references containing the
term cancer, but that do not contain the term smoking

Search Tips
• The truncation/word stemming device is the asterisk (*)
− dyslexi* will retrieve dyslexia, dyslexic, etc
• The single character wildcard is question mark (?)
− organi?ation will retrieve organisation or organization
• The multiple character wildcard is the hash (#)
− colo#r will retrieve color or colour
• Use quotation marks for “phrase searching”
− “global warming” will retrieve references that contain both
terms next to each other, in this exact order

 If s/he selects Returns this item in ADE on the
Desktop
 Then the Book will remain available on
Smartphone and eBook Reader until the initial
checkout duration has expired

Early Check-In: Multiple Devices
 After the initial user Returns this item in ADE on the
Desktop, other users can check-out this title, even if
the initial user still has the title downloaded to
his/her Smartphone and/or eBook Reader.
 This creates the potential of an ‘overlap’ of
checked-outs to multiple users at the same time.
 EBSCO’s eBook publishers understand and accept
this arrangement.

Early Check-In: Multiple Devices
 If the eBook reader is connected to the Desktop
when the student clicks Returns this item then the
eBook will be returned and no longer available on the
Desktop and eBook Reader.
