Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her Salt Lake City home at knifepoint in the middle of the night by Brian Mitchell and Wanda Barzee. She was held captive for months, during which time she was chained to trees and forced to wear a burka in public. She was eventually rescued after her sister provided a sketch of Mitchell to authorities. When police arrested Mitchell and questioned Elizabeth, she claimed the name "Augustine Marshal" and that Mitchell was her father, showing signs of Stockholm syndrome.

Ted Bundy
Ted Bundy was a serial killer born in 1946 in Vermont. He was raised believing his grandparents were his parents and his mother was his sister. In high school he was a good student but socially awkward. He later attended the University of Washington and law school in Utah. Beginning in 1974, Bundy went on a multi-state killing spree, murdering dozens of women in Washington, Utah, and Colorado by bludgeoning, strangulation, and sexual assault. The phone was ringing insistently, hurrying me back to
my desk. My daughter Helen was on the line, sobbing
so hard she could barely catch her breath. “Dad,” she
shouted. “Come home! Right away!”
I was stunned. I had never heard her like this before.
“What’s wrong?” I asked. “What happened?”
“It’s—it’s Kristin. She’s been shot . . . and killed.”
Kristin? My Kristin? Our Kristin? I’d talked to her the
afternoon before. Her last words to me were, “I love you
Dad.” Suddenly I had trouble breathing myself.
It was 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. In Boston,
where Kristin Lardner was an art student, police were
cordoning off an apartment building a couple of blocks
from the busy, sunlit sidewalk where she’d been killed
90 minutes earlier. She had been shot in the head and
face by an ex-boyfriend who was under court order to
stay away from her. When police burst into his apart-
ment, they found him sprawled on his bed, dead from
a final act of self-pity.
This was a crime that could and should have been
prevented. I write about it as a sort of cautionary tale,
in anger at a system of justice that failed to protect my
daughter, a system that is addicted to looking the other
way, especially at the evil done to women.
But first let me tell you about my daughter.
She was, at 21, the youngest of our five children,
born in Washington, D.C., and educated in the city’s
public schools, where not much harm befell her unless
you count her taste for rock music, lots of jewelry, and
funky clothes from Value Village. She loved books, went
trick-or-treating dressed as Greta Garbo, played one of
the witches in “Macbeth” and had a grand time in tap-
dancing class even in her sneakers. She made life sparkle.
When she was small, she always got up in time for
Saturday morning cartoons at the Chevy Chase library,
and she took cheerful care of a succession of cats, mice,
gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs. Her biggest fault may
have been that she took too long in the shower—and
you never knew what color her hair was going to be
when she emerged. She was compassionate, and strong-
minded too; when a boy from high school dropped his
pants in front of her, Kristin knocked out one of his front
teeth.
“She didn’t back down from anything,” said Amber
Lynch, a close friend from Boston University. “You could
tell that basically from her art, the way she dressed, the
opinions she had. If you said something stupid, she’d
tell you.”

Richard Trenton Chase Vampire Of Sacramento
Richard Trenton Chase (1950-1980), known as the "Vampire of Sacramento", was a serial killer and necrophile. He was abused as a child and developed mental health issues including drug and alcohol abuse in his teens. He began killing and drinking animal blood, believing it would prevent his heart from shrinking. After being released from psychiatric institutions, he began killing people, including engaging in acts of necrophilia and cannibalism. He was convicted of 6 murders and sentenced to death. While in jail awaiting execution, he was found dead of an overdose, having hoarded his antidepressant medication.
Hillside stranglers
Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono were serial killers known as the Hillside Stranglers who murdered 10 young women in Los Angeles between 1977-1979. They left signature marks on the victims' wrists and necks. Bianchi had a troubled childhood, being raised by adoptive parents with a history of mental illness, abuse, and rejection by women. He and Buono raped and murdered their victims, often leaving the bodies on hillsides in LA. They were eventually caught and charged with killing 14 women total.
BTK Dennis Rader
Dennis Rader, known as the BTK strangler, killed 10 people in Wichita, Kansas between 1974-1991. He bound, sexually assaulted, and strangled most of his victims. Rader was married with children and worked as a dog catcher and at Christ Lutheran Church. He was finally identified in 2005 through DNA evidence taken from his daughter that matched DNA found at crime scenes.

Edmund Kemper

Kemper murdered and dismembered several female hitchhikers in California in the early 1970s. He eventually killed and decapitated his mother and her friend, storing their bodies in the closet. Kemper turned himself in and confessed to the murders. He was found sane and guilty and sentenced to life in prison.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UP
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
