• To support universities to move through the different course design
and development stages (building of a curriculum, getting the
national accreditation, training teachers, creating contents, etc.)
• To support universities to develop by themselves (from A to Z) a
reliable remote laboratory
• To support universities to develop e-engineering trainings
• Perform a quality assessment of the application of an efficient
pedagogical innovative solution

• This growth, albeit important and more accentuated in less
developed countries, hides major differences between rich and
poor regions
• Higher education enrolment in South and Eastern Mediterranean
Basin countries varies between 28% and 37% → in Europe is 70%

• Rapid growth in the number of students
• Developing countries lack the necessary economic resources needed to
tackle higher education massification
• Universities are forced to handle overcrowded classrooms
• Engineering education fields
• Technological innovation is key to growth and prosperity
• Development of higher education in advance engineering fields is a priority
• Engineering education  laboratories expensive to set up
• Need wide spaces
• Need expensive equipment and instrumentation

Promoting the development of e-Engineering training practices
“e-Engineering” “e-learning training in the field of hard sciences”
e-Engineering is a concept that results from the concatenation of :
• E-learning. Concepts such as learning strategies, learning platforms and
scenarios, organization, legal aspect and quality assessments are key factors
to be considered in the design of e-courses
• Remote laboratory. a set of hardware instrumentation and software
solutions that allows students to carry out online experiments through the
Internet
An efficient solution to cope with higher education access massification in
engineering education fields
Meets multiple students’ profiles (lifelong learning, low economic resources,
distant and/or isolated areas, avoiding some overcrowded classes, etc.)

Good practice definition:
• Implementation whose main objective has been achieved
• Some problems might have shown up in any of the stages
• Many laboratory good practices (LGP)
• Few remote and online laboratories develop LGP guides
• Purpose:
• To train the users to working with this type of laboratories the best way possible
• To avoid mala praxis: endanger people, malfunction of equipment, damage
facilities, wrong results in the measures retrieved from instrumentation or
computer security problems
• Authors of this LGP: experience acquired over years by teaching,
working and researching with remote and online laboratories

  • 3. e-LIVES National Dissemination Workshop e-LIVES objectives • To support universities to move through the different course design and development stages (building of a curriculum, getting the national accreditation, training teachers, creating contents, etc.) • To support universities to develop by themselves (from A to Z) a reliable remote laboratory • To support universities to develop e-engineering trainings • Perform a quality assessment of the application of an efficient pedagogical innovative solution

  • 8. e-LIVES National Dissemination Workshop The problem • Rapid growth in the number of students • Developing countries lack the necessary economic resources needed to tackle higher education massification • Universities are forced to handle overcrowded classrooms • Engineering education fields • Technological innovation is key to growth and prosperity • Development of higher education in advance engineering fields is a priority • Engineering education  laboratories expensive to set up • Need wide spaces • Need expensive equipment and instrumentation
  • 9. e-LIVES National Dissemination Workshop e-Engineering Promoting the development of e-Engineering training practices “e-Engineering” “e-learning training in the field of hard sciences” e-Engineering is a concept that results from the concatenation of : • E-learning. Concepts such as learning strategies, learning platforms and scenarios, organization, legal aspect and quality assessments are key factors to be considered in the design of e-courses • Remote laboratory. a set of hardware instrumentation and software solutions that allows students to carry out online experiments through the Internet An efficient solution to cope with higher education access massification in engineering education fields Meets multiple students’ profiles (lifelong learning, low economic resources, distant and/or isolated areas, avoiding some overcrowded classes, etc.)

WP1 - Best Practices identification in e-engineering Good practice definition: • Implementation whose main objective has been achieved • Some problems might have shown up in any of the stages • Many laboratory good practices (LGP) • Few remote and online laboratories develop LGP guides • Purpose: • To train the users to working with this type of laboratories the best way possible • To avoid mala praxis: endanger people, malfunction of equipment, damage facilities, wrong results in the measures retrieved from instrumentation or computer security problems • Authors of this LGP: experience acquired over years by teaching, working and researching with remote and online laboratories e-LIVES National Dissemination Workshop
