1. ELIG Update: May 2015 ( some highlights)
ELIG Training Initiative & Capacity Building:
• Support on AIE requests, process & responses e.g. HLAI, IWT, ISS, Marine WG
• Pursuit of key appeal with OCEI for Marine WG – driving precedent in OCEI process.
• Legal Seminar conducted. Well received. Extensive planning & liaison involved.
ELIG meetings / compliance issues:
• ELIG Bureau meeting with new Bureau team.
• Submissions on:
• Irish Waters Water Services Strategy; EPA new DWWTS plan, EMFF
EP member queries/support: ( Some examples )
• Further to detailed Briefing on EMFF prepared and delivered to Marine-Group:
• Support of Marine WG re. the Shadow Monitoring Committee meeting &
submissions on Draft EMFF Operational Pgm.
• Prepared draft of letter sent to Minister Coveney on legal issues re IE EMFF OP.
• Made submission on EMFF Op Pgm & SEA inclu. legal concerns & proposals in
particular on member’s tangle net issues.
• Others: Badger cull issue – analysis & multi-stranded strategy evolving including
legal expertise, Killybegs processing plant, dredging in Broadhaven.
Other activities:
• ELIG Mgt Team mtg: Reviewed work, discussed new work plan proposals inclu. training
plan & strategies.
• Liaison re major EEB TTIP event – to provide IE celeb delegation.
