Electrical Engineering
“The study and application of electricity,
electronics, and electromagnetism” - and as a
whole, electrical hardware
● Invention of transistor → integrated circuit
Real World Applications
● Microprocessors
● Power systems
● Telecommunication systems
Microcontroller (Programming)
● A microprocessor, memory, and programmable
inputs/outputs.
● Contains interfaces to connect to the user and perform
designated tasks.
● Varies in speed, memory size, port size, etc.
● Hardware from Parallax, Basic Stamp 2
● Programmed on Basic Stamp Editor
Microcontroller
Board
2 lead semiconductor light source, emits light when voltage
is applied
● Unicolor vs Bicolor
● Continuous
● Switch Control
● Blinking
o Speed
LED (Light-Emitting Diode)
LED Image
7-Segment LED
● Electronic display for displaying decimal numerals
● Functions in counting up/down from 0-9
● Consists of 7 separate LEDs + DP
● Individually programmed

Piezoelectric Speaker
Able to play sound of a given electrical frequency
Coding
● Pause
● Duration
● Frequency
RC Time Constant
● Resistance x Capacitance = Time
● Capacitor
o stores electrical energy (100 nanoFarads)
● Potentiometer
o the variable resistor
● Program displayed
variable time
Potentiometer Function
Benefits, opposed to average resistor
Servo Motor
Purpose: serves as motor that adjusts angular
position at a predetermined pace
● White = Port (connection to MC)
● Red = Vdd (+)
● Black = Vss (-)

Final Project
● Combined all the modules
● Resulted in countdown from 9 to 0 4 times,
with a beep for each change in number
along with different beep before the start of
each loop while turning the servo motor and
resulting in the LED lighting up.
