While everyone in the higher education field today agrees that there isnÍt a clear definition of
what a MOOC is, CCCS is attempting to build a better sMOOC (smaller massive open online
course) combining the elements of both, a cMOOC and xMOOC. CCCS found a way to
incorporate an emerging educational trend, leverage technology to reach hundreds of people
with the appropriate, quality pedagogy; and meet the needs of their 13 system and 2 nonsystem
institutions.

A full assessment & feedback history would:
- Let Students and Personal Tutors review feedback and grades to help determine how to improve academically.
- Help Personal and Module Tutors to identify students who may need additional support.
- Enable Tutors to pick up on longitudinal developments, creating opportunities to engage in a feedback dialogue.
- Help Students to identify patterns and understand their feedback, so they can act upon it (feed forward).

So much of the current discussion around Learning Analytics seems to be caught up in the realm of Big Data that informs the top executives and decision makers who are shaping institution-wide strategies. While these kinds of topics need to be explored, truly significant and transformative uses of learning analytics can be had at the grassroots level of the teacher and student.
This session will look at how Edith Cowan University is using Blackboard Analytics for Learn to empower staff and students with their own data, allowing them to make informed and timely decisions in their own teaching and learning journeys.
We will explore how learning analytics data enables staff to do things like identify and support students at risk of disengaging from the course early, monitor how students are actually engaging in their course and collect real evidence on student interactions that informs a continual process of improvement in learning design and resources.

To achieve its strategic goals, UMBC realized it needed to become a more data-driven institution by deploying more sophisticated tools and procedures to help staff find and analyze data in a timely way. Specifically, the university needed ways that users could develop accurate and easily configurable reports to support operational management decisions and strategic analysis, which a data warehouse made possible. In this talk, Dr. Mozie-Ross will describe how UMBC successfully implemented its data warehouse by resolving campus-wide issues with buy-in, IT partnering with IR, governance, and cost.
This presentation was used in a series of workshops for Prior Learning Assessment Training for the Colorado Community College System under a TAACCCCT3 grant (CHAMP)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
