E-learning refers to electronic learning facilitated by web-enabled technology that allows people to learn at their own pace and place. There are two main types: synchronous training involves real-time interaction with instructors through video conferencing or chat; asynchronous training is self-paced without live instructors through online modules, videos or articles. The benefits of e-learning include just-in-time knowledge access from anywhere, reduced costs, and interactive learning, while drawbacks can include a lack of self-discipline, face-to-face interaction and flexibility.

Advances in computer technology continue to change the
lives of instructors and students. One of the exciting new ways
to use computers in education is in testing. According to Brown
(1997), computer-based tests (CBTs) have been used in second
language testing since the early 80's. This rapid change in mode
of administration of tests is very understandable. As Jamieson
(2005) states, computers have a number of very desirable
functions that considerably eases up the test creation and
assessment task, including item creation and presentation,
answer collection and scoring, statistical analysis, and storage,
transmission, and retrieval of information. Also the literature on
computer-assisted language learning indicates that language
learners have generally positive attitudes towards using
computers in the classroom (Reid, 1986; Neu and Scarcella,
1991; Phinney, 1991).
Computer-based assessment has been used in many
disciplines to give both formative feedback and to offer
summative testing. This is especially so in the sciences. There is
evidence to suggest that formative computer-based assessment
can produce improvement in student learning outcomes
(Clariana, 1993) and that this can lead to a positive attitudes of
students to learning.
In an e-learning environment
that emphasizes learnercentered activity and system
interactivity, remote learners
can outperform traditional
classroom students.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
2. Introduction
E-learning is an abbreviation of the term electronic learning.
E-learning refers to any form of learning that can be accessed through
web technology. It is facilitated and supported by web-enabled
technology, moreover it enables people to learn at their own time and at
a place convenient to them.
The objective of an e-learning course is to help learners learn by
themselves, while at the same time allowing them to collaborate and
interact with their peers for a social learning experience.
3. Characteristics of E-learning
Created because there is a learning need.
Designed with one or more learning objectives in mind.
Created with a particular audience and its needs in mind.
Created with the help of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Development of e-learning follows a very streamlined process.
Followed up by an assessment.
Connected to electronic media.
Self-paced and reaches a wider audience.
4. Pros of e-learning
Just-in-time knowledge (JIT)
Anytime and anywhere learning
Uniform training to a geographically dispersed workforce
Reduced training time and costs
Interactive and collaborative learning
Self-paced learning
Effective and efficient life-long learning – on demand
5. Cons of e-learning
No self-discipline
No face-to-face interaction
Lack of flexibility
Slow evolution
Good e-learning is difficult to do
Lack of transformational power
Problem of the extent of security of online learning programs.
The assessments that are computer marked generally have a tendency
of being only knowledge-based and not necessarily practicality-based.
6. Types of e-Learning
There are fundamentally two types of e-Learning:
Synchronous training
Asynchronous training
7. Synchronous training
It “at the same time,” involves interaction of participants with an instructor via the
Web in real time. For example – VCRs or Virtual class rooms that are nothing else but
real classrooms online. Participants interact with each other and instructors through
instant messaging, chat, audio and video conferencing etc and what’s more all
the sessions can be recorded and played back. Its benefits are:
Ability to log or track learning activities.
Continuous monitoring and correction is possible
Possibilities of global connectivity and collaboration opportunities among
learners.
Ability to personalize the training for each learner.
8. Asynchronous training
It means “not at the same time,” allows the participants to complete the WBT (Web-
based training) at their own pace, without live interaction with the instructor. Basically,
it is information that is accessible on a self-help basis, 24/7. These include computer
based training,(CBTs) modules on CD-Rom’s, Web based training accessed through
intranet (WBTs) or through well written articles and other write ups. Its advantages are:-
Available ‘just in time’ for instant learning and reference.
Flexibility of access from anywhere at anytime.
Ability to simultaneously reach an unlimited number of employees.
Uniformity of content and one time cost of production.
