2. Basic data :
 They’re a series of 12 novels.
 It was published in 1613 by Juan de la Cuesta.
 It took Cervantes 22 years to complete it.
 There are two main groups ; those characterized by an idealized
nature and those of a realistic nature.
 However, the difference is not sharp.
 The full title is “Novelas Ejemplares de Honestísimo
Entretenimiento" or “Exemplary Novels of very honest
Entertainment” in English.

 El Amante Liberal (The Generous Lover)
 Rinconete y Cortadillo (Rinconete & Cortadillo)
 La Española Inglesa (The English Spanish Lady)
 El Licenciado Vidriera (The Lawyer of Glass)
 La Fuerza de la Sangre (The Power of Blood)
 El Celoso Extremeño (The Jealous Man From Extremadura)
 La Ilustre Fregona (The Illustrious Kitchen-Maid)
 Novela de las Dos Doncellas (The Novel of the Two Damsels)
 Novela de la Señora Cornelia (The Novel of Lady Cornelia)
 Novela del Casamiento Engañoso (The Novel of the Deceitful Marriage)
 El Coloquio de los Perros (The Dialogue of the Dogs)

4. “El celoso extremeño”
 It’s considered one of the most well
done exemplary novel.
 It is the story about a jealous man from
Extremadura who punishes his wife by
jailing her in their home & she only
could go to church, and then, Leonor
(the wife) could finally see her lover
because her husband wasn’t effective
enough
 For many experts, this work was clearly
inspired by Boccaccio, Bandello &
Straparola

5. About Cervantes :
Cartoon strip by “El Roto”
(El Roto is one of the best
cartoonist of Spain)
 He was born in 1547 and he died in the 22nd of
April 1616.
 He is considered one of the best and most
important writers in history and the world and also
the creator of modern novels.
 His most important work is “El Quixote”.
 He made poetry, novels and plays.

 He did not recieve money for El Quixote
 There isn’t an accurate representation of him,
 He did not have a good relationship with the catholic church
 He was wounded in the battle of Lepanto
 Shakespeare was one of his fans
 He wrote some of his work in jail
 In 2015, his body was found.
