• Developed a robust one coasted NMNAP (2016-2021) with
one coordination mechanism and one M&E system
(CRRAF)
Priorities on Nutrition sensitive intervention and specific such as Diet
related NCDs, MIYCAM, IMAM and Micronutrients. Recognize role of
private sector in promoting health diet for improved nutrition.
• Recognition and integration of health diets and nutrition
issues into national plan and sectorial policies including
agriculture, health, education e.c.t
• Tracking of nutrition expenditure (PER)
• Increased of knowledge sharing among nutrition stakeholder
• Increase alignment of donor programmes with national
plans.
• Improve policy environment (Review of policies, enforce. of
regulations and tax exemptions)
GAPS
• Linkage nutrition sensitive intervention reduce malnutrition.
We can’t really quantify its contribution to reduction of
malnutrition (it remain a gray area for nutrition sensitive).
• We still have information gap on other factors which
contribute to malnutrition which are not really pronounced
e.g mycotoxin.
• Double burden malnutrition- there is a need of more
evidence and data on this so as to prevent the country
• Improve Synergies/Linkage between this platforms is a key
(Can’t work in silos since are in different levels).
• Private sector and CSOs have a big role to play.
Take away Message
1. Effective multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder and
multi-displinary platforms are no longer
optional in pushing agenda which has so many
contributors.

Editor's Notes

  • #6 High level Steering Committee on Nutrition, chaired by PMO, PS from all nutrition-relevant line ministries, civil society and private sector Council Steering Committees on Nutrition –responsible for coordinating multi-sectoral responses at district level Multi-sector Nutrition Technical Working Group - currently poor representation from key line ministries and poorly organized Poor coordination between nutrition coordination structures and those in the agriculture and other sectors TFNC recognized as having a role in coordination, but perceived as performing ineffectively in this role.
