Soil analysis in your country
How many routine laboratories exist in your country?
To date, Mauritania has two laboratories in the Soil
Analysis Board
The first follows the National Rural Development
Company, one of the first laboratories in the region,
but is now in a state of suspension.
The second is a laboratory under development,
followed by the National Center for Agricultural
Research and Agricultural Development, Kaèdi-
Mauritania, as a result of cooperation between the
Center and the International Atomic Energy Agency
Are they ‘mobile’ laboratories?
These labs are immobile
Are soil test kits commonly used?
The laboratory, which I have seen
above, is still in the process of
formation, but it has advanced
equipment and tools in soil
analysis.

Strength/weakness
What do you think your lab is strong at?
Our lab has pros of the following:
•It is the only one, in terms of equipment at the
national level
Located in the center of the country near agricultural
areas
•It is also characterized by its dependence on
agricultural research, which enables it to respond to the
aspirations of farmers of all kinds
•The Center's relations will be reflected in the
laboratory's response to the quality of equipment and
continuous training of its staff
What do you think it could be improved?
To improve the performance of this laboratory, the
following constraints must be overcome:
Complete the necessary equipment
Expand the building
Increase the number of employees
Expanding partnerships with similar institutions
Improve the expertise of soil analysis personnel
What are your expectations out of
this meeting and GLOSOLAN?
We expect from this important
meeting that:
Definition of the national laboratory
We discover methods of soil analysis
We bring support to the laboratory,
in terms of equipment, protocols
Thanks for your
attention
