- The study examined the effect of different storage environments (refrigerator, evaporative cooling basket, ambient storage) and packaging materials (perforated polythene, moist jute, unwrapped) on disease incidence and weight loss in stored African star apples. - Weight loss was lowest in apples stored in the refrigerator compared to the evaporative cooling basket and ambient storage. Apples wrapped in moist jute also had lower weight loss than those wrapped in perforated polythene or unwrapped. - Disease incidence was delayed most in the refrigerator storage environment compared to the evaporative cooling basket and ambient conditions.
