"Would like" - "want“
it is used for more polite expressions.
Would like + noun
 How to use "would like" with a noun?
Do you want some coffee? (We usually use this for friends, children, and etc.)
Would you like some coffee? (This is more polite and formal.)
Would like +noun
 We can use it with a noun:
Subject + would like + noun
I would like a glass of cola. - I want a glass of cola.
Would you like some water? – do you want some water ?
We can make them shorter by using
contractions:
I would like = I'd like
She would like = She'd like /he'd
They would like = They'd like
We would like = We'd like
You would like = You'd like
I'D LIKE SOME MILK.
I'D LIKE SOME OLIVES.
I'D LIKE SOME EGGS.
I'D LIKE SOME BREAD.
Would like + verb
 Асуусан буюу хүсэлт гаргасан өгүүлбэрт - Would you like + to + verb
 Баталан хүүрнэсэн өгүүлбэрт - Subject + would like + to + verb
 I would like to eat / eating some cheese.
 Would you like to have some water?
 She would like to eat a piece of cake.
Subject + to be + in the mood + noun / verb
I am in the mood ice cream/to sing the karaoke.

 " like" is used for the things you generally love, enjoy .
We use like to talk about things we like all the time.
I like swimming. It's my hobby.
 She likes watching movies. She goes to cinema every week.

 You cannot smoke in here.
We use 'can' to talk about 'ability'.- оюуны болон биеийн хүчний чадварыг илэрхийлэхдээ чадна
гэдэг утгаар орчуулан хэрэглэнэ.
 I can speak French.
 I can't drive.
CAN – баймж үйл үг
Зөвшөөрөл өгөх эсвэл зөвшөөрөл авахад хэрэглэнэ. (We also use 'may' for this but is more
formal and much less common.)
 Can I speak to you or are you too busy?
 You can use my phone.
 You can't come in.
We use 'can' in offers, requests and instructions.- Зааварчилгаа өгөх, хүсэлт тавих,
санал болгох буюу санал тавихад хэрэглэнэ.
 Can I help?
 Can you give me a hand?
 When you finish that, you can take out the garbage.
Could

  • 2. Would like  Would like & like  What is the difference between "would like and "like"  Showing the difference between two structures  "Would like" - "want“ it is used for more polite expressions.
  • 3. Would like + noun  How to use "would like" with a noun? Do you want some coffee? (We usually use this for friends, children, and etc.) Would you like some coffee? (This is more polite and formal.)
  • 4. Would like +noun  We can use it with a noun: Subject + would like + noun I would like a glass of cola. - I want a glass of cola. Would you like some water? – do you want some water ?
  • 5. We can make them shorter by using contractions: I would like = I'd like She would like = She'd like /he'd They would like = They'd like We would like = We'd like You would like = You'd like I'D LIKE SOME MILK. I'D LIKE SOME OLIVES. I'D LIKE SOME EGGS. I'D LIKE SOME BREAD.
