Personal Education Goals
My Personal and Educational Goals
Throughout my life, I have already accomplished a lot of the education goals that I have set for
myself, but there are still a few goals that I want to reach. My first goal is to graduate from
Resurrection. I want to be able to say that during my time at Res, I received good grades and
remained on the honor role in the course of my high school education. I also want to finish Polish
school. For the last 10 years, I have attended Polish school on Saturdays and in two short years I
will take a language test. I want to pass the test with a high score, graduate and receive my language
diploma. After finishing high school, I plan to continue my education at a four–year college or
university. While I haven't thought

Goals of American Public Education
Public education in America began in the early to mid–19th century with the simple goal of "uniting
the American population by instilling common moral and political values" (Spring, 2012, p. 5).
Our country was founded by men who designed the constitution so that it could be amended to
accommodate changing political and social climates. They believed in the ideology of the
American dream which "holds out a vision of both individual success and the collective good of
all" (Hochschild & Scovronick, 2004, p. 1). It is with this same ideology that our public
schools were...show more content...
These models are the Common–School model, the Sorting–Machine model, and the High–Stakes
testing model.
The Common–School model is one in which the school system is set up in order to allow all
students an equal education. The disparities between social classes would, theoretically, be eliminated
by this normalization. The Sorting–Machine model recognizes that all students are not created equal.
Teachers, counselors, and standardized tests would be used to impartially "overcome the influence
of family background" (Spring, 2012, p. 59). Finally, the High–Stakes testing model is based on the
notion that schools can "give everyone an equal chance to learn and to be tested without cultural
bias" (Spring, 2012, p. 63). Standardized tests are used for all forms of advancement and placement
from grade–level promotions to professional credentialing. These models are used side–by–side, to
some degree, in our 21st century implementation of public education.
Obstacles in Achieving Educational Goals
Throughout the history of public education, there have been barriers to the equality of opportunity
philosophy. Thomas Jefferson's proposal and Horace Mann's implementation of public schools
excluded non–citizens like blacks, women, and Native Americans. Next, an increase in immigration
and industrialization widened cultural and economic differences between students. The greatest
obstacle to equal education

Education Goals
Education has always been a primary concern for my parents, who taught me that if I need to
succeed in life, I have to be educated. Following their guide, I have always valued and tried to get
the most of any educational opportunity I have had. Having grown up in a business family, I have
always been interested in focusing my career in the business field. My Mother and Father own their
own company, and they are constantly talking about business, which has inspired me to follow their
path. When my parents retire, they want me to carry on their legacy. For this reason, I have decided
to pursue my studies in the field of Business and Leadership at Marylhurst University. I want to
pursue a well–rounded education at this established university...show more content...
I need to be a person who thinks, reads, listens critically, and has the ability to understand social
issues. I also want to be a creative problem solver and use this skill to interpret and make decisions
in everyday life. Another characteristic of an educated person that I want to promote is to be
someone who is skilled in communication and social interaction; a well–educated person is
articulate and confident in everything he/she does. In addition, I want to learn to be able to
organize ideas powerfully and clearly and deliver them effectively to the world. A well–educated
person is able not only to keep the main goal in focus, but is also able to continue to think
logically at the same time. They also have the ability to see the big picture and then break it down
into smaller pieces for closer assessment. These characteristics are important for me to develop in
order to be successful in my family business. In addition, Once I develop the skills of listing and
writing effectively, problem solving, leading, public speaking, working with others, organizing and
coping with stress through a liberal arts education, I will be able to perform better in anything.
Marylhurst has a fine reputation both as a liberal arts and business focused university, and I believe
that a Marylhurst education will fulfill my needs. My Business and Leadership major will enable me

My Educational Goal
My educational goal is to graduate by Spring 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design. My
long term goal is to become a graphic designer and grow from there working as a freelancer or with
a company that shares my values of having creative freedom, an open and honest environment, and
working with passion and determination. My college education is the key to achieve my long term
goal because I have learned the skills I need to become a graphic designer and learned more about
the industry from what I have experienced so far. The skills I obtain from my college education are
skills I can not learn outside that would prepare me for my career path.
I have maintained a 3.7 GPA with my busy schedule. My daily four hour commute to and from school

My Educational Plan
I divided my educational plan into two parts. The first part of my plan is to stay in college and
continue to pursue a higher level of education. As being an immigrant and the first person who
ever attend college in my family, I feel the need of act as a role model for my younger siblings and
cousins. I believe good grade can be earned through hard work, but making college affordable is
intimidating. I will continuously reach out for supports and hunt for opportunities that can help me
achieve my dream. The second part of my plan is to guide my brother, Joey, who is an incominghigh
school senior and planning on pursuing higher education at Indian River State College as well.

First, seeking for opportunities that relate to counseling. Through my experiences and observations
with the people around me, I noticed most of them are not working happily and do not know their
capacity. I learned that they have negative thoughts towards their job and is not willing to try the
best within their ability, which it can turn the business down. I want to inspire and mentor them to
discover their potentials, find their interests and what they can do to change their life. Second,

to the education by supporting the students financially. I would never forget the supports I receive
today and would love to give back in the future. I want to show my supportiveness through allowing
more people to receive education and make my contribution.
Both my educational and career plans are focusing on reinforcing the community and the importance
of education. Finish college and pursuing higher education comes in as my first priority as this will
have a domino effect on the other plans I wish to

Pursuing Educational Goals
The biggest event of my life that has influenced my decision to go back to school is the promise I
made to my mother before she passed away. I promised her that I would go back to school and
obtain my degree in accounting. I had always wanted to be able to provide my children with a life
without the worries that I had to face. By making this promise to my mom, I had unknowingly
set a goal for myself. I am now able to be able to pursue my educational goals. Another of my goals
is that eventually I will be able to open my own business and show my children that no matter how
old you are it is never too late to pursue your dreams. I also want to show them that no matter how
old you are you can always learn something new. I chose Colorado Christian
