Robert Lewis wants to go to college at age 59 to be a role model for his children and grandchildren by showing them the importance of higher education. He didn't have the opportunity to attend college after high school due to his circumstances. Now that he has the means, he is excited to achieve his dream of a college education and start his own business so he can support his family without struggling. He believes a college degree is necessary to get a good job and live comfortably in today's world.

WHY I WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE
Hi my name is Robert E. Lewis. I was born August 20th 1953. I am 59 years old, and born
In Boston, Mass. I am the 11th child of 13 siblings. I’m a father of 6 children, 3
Grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and husband. When I finished high school, I
always wanted to continue my education, but do to certain circumstances, it enabled me
to further my education any further. But fortunately I was able to go to other schools,
such as trade schools, because it didn’t require the funding as colleges did. I had been to
schools; such as Radio and TV repair, Carpentry, and Electronics. I always had a love for
computers. Now that I am at this stage in my life I am able to be provided with the funds
to go to college. I am very excited that this is happening now, because I can be an
example for my kids, to continue with their education, beyond high school. It is very
important these days right now to have a higher learning ability, to be able to succeed in
life. College has always been a dream, and a goal in my life. I plan to show my kids the
importance of how an education can be. This world is not looking for just high school
diplomas anymore, but people with Assc.degrees, and Bachelors degrees. You have to
be able to go into a company with the back ground of experience in education, in order
to be consider for the job. Most companies that offer a very good salary prefer you to
have a college education. In order to get a good job, college is very necessary. I am
going now because I want to start my own business. I want to be able to provide for my

family without struggling. College provides better living, and wages that you can live
comfortably. It is very important that I succeed in my life to show my kids the
importance of what it means to be successful in life. It doesn’t matter what age you are,
because it’s never too late to further your education and to excel in life. It is never too
late to follow your dreams no matter how old you are. College is a source to better you
for the future. I am excited because I finally get to do something for myself, and that I
wish I had the chance when I was younger. Now that I’m in college, it feels like a new
beginning, a feeling of accomplishing something in my life. It has been 44 years since
I been in school, and I hope to make the best of this situation, and to be able to do what it
takes to finish my education, so I can be successful, and not be afraid to go out into this
world to get my own. Life is too short to miss out on an education. Reading, Writing,
and Mathematics is the key to success. Without it you cannot get to far in life. So go to
School, Stay in School, and Finish School.
