Target learners: Second graders learning how to spell
Goals for this lesson:
● Students should be able to use word in a sentence
● Students should be able to read the word and know what it is
● Students should be able to spell the word when said to them
Ask students to read these words out loud:
Great Learn Problem Question
Friend Favorite Different Children
World Because Right Please
Parent Together Beginning Write
Voice Morning South Earth
Now read the words to students and have
them write it down in their notebook

What to do after students write down words:
● Read aloud the correct way to spell each word
● Have students circle each word they get wrong and then write, in a different color, the
correct way to spell the word
● With words they got wrong have them write it three times in their notebook
Partner Time
★ Get into partners
★ Have the first partner read the words the other student got wrong and
have the student write them down
★ Do this until the student can spell all words correctly then switch
