The document summarizes the process of editing a film trailer. It describes organizing footage, importing videos, adding establishing shots and titles, editing shots for timing and pacing, using tools like slow motion and fading, and adding music. It discusses following thriller trailer conventions like starting calm and getting faster as problems occur. The summary concludes by describing uploading the finished trailer to YouTube and social media to gather feedback.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
Â
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Editing diary
1. Editing diary
Firstly I organised my videos by putting them in a folder which was in my hard
drive, this is so I know where everything is when I
need it. To import my videos I clicked on the
button that said âget mediaâ which lead me to
my files and selected the video I wanted to
import on to the software so I can then edit it.
I started my trailer off by making my own intuitional logo; I then used an
establishing shot to show my audience where the film is set, using an estate as
the first shots give the audience a sense that it is going to be an urban thriller.
When editing the establishing shot I had to crop a bit out because I recorded
more than I was meant to and if I used the whole footage it would be too
long and it would bore my audience because theyâre looking at one shot for
too long. I also watched other trailers and counted how long they have the
establishing shot on thereâs and then did the same time for mine.
I then had a long shot of the two main characters so that the audience know
who the main characters are. I had to use the slow
motion tool for this scene because when I put it in
my timeline I thought it was going to fast so by
using the slow motion tool it helped me make my
trailer look more realistic and also made my trailer
more effective and gave the audience time to see
their relationship together. The first 40 seconds of
my trailer I used a lot of fading to another shot. Then when the problem starts
to happen all my shots cut to another shot I didnât use any fading towards
the end. At the beginning of my trailer you see some shots of Leon and Macy
spending time together this lets the audience know that they have a really
close relationship together.
Using titles helped the audience understand what is going on even more, I
inserted a title by clicking titles at the top and
then it appeared on my timeline so I can choose
whether I want to make it a quick one or a long
one. When doing this I had to make sure that all
my titles were the same font as my other titles
2. that I inserted this is really important when creating a trailer because it makes
it look more professional.
At this part of my trailer I used the split tool to make it look like Oli is thinking
about his daughter and also trying to figure out what to do. I also used the
slow motion tool to make it longer and better.
For my trailer i started off with a calm piano playing at the back I thought it
was the best way to start it off because it sets of the scene as a happy. When
the problem started to occur the music got fast and faster this is effective
because it gets my audience more interested because they know the
problem is coming soon and also because I did some research on thriller
trailers and noticed that all thriller trailers use this method when creating a
thriller trailer. To do this I went on YouTube and search 2 songs that I liked and
then imported both into my USB and then on my computer, then I dragged it
in my timeline and then had to cut some of the song and try insert the other
song.
Following the conventions of thriller
trailers at the end of my trailer I added
the title this is effective because
audience which view it will know what
the name of the film is. If I added the
title at the beginning it wonât be really
effective because people could forget
what it was called and then not go watch it.
At the end of my trailer I added a text telling the audience that my film is
coming soon I also added two social networking sites so that whoever
watched it knows that there are pages they can find on twitter/facebook
3. that tell you more about what is going to happened and when it is going to
be released.
After I finished my trailer completely I then had to upload it on YouTube, I
firstly made sure there was no spelling mistakes on the titles if there was I
corrected it and then I made sure that what I have made is perfect and
worth putting up on YouTube. When I put it on YouTube I also thought it would
be a good idea to put it on twitter so that my friends can view it and give me
feedback on it.
