Perpose Of Statement Of Purpose In Mechanical Engineering
Statement of Purpose
Mechanical Engineering has not only given us inventions such as the car that have improved our
lives but also captured the imagination of the world through space travel and the Apollo missions.
To achieve breakthrough in technology, we will always need great mentors, state of art
infrastructure and real motivation and Michigan Technological University is one of them. My four
year academic curriculum in Mechanical Engineering at Pune University has offered me the perfect
blend of theoretical subjects and laboratory work. These academic years help to build solid
foundation in the field and made me keen to learn Applied Mechanics, Finite Element method,
Design and manufacturing as part of my graduate syllabi. This career planning would help me to
achieve my goal to be a part of Mechanical Engineering fraternity. Thus, after intensive personal
exploration, I have decided to be a part of Michigan technological University as a first step towards
my goal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Linear Momentum
Abstract:
This experiment studies the conservation of linear momentum through a carefully calculated
collision. Two gliders were used on an air track with different weights to demonstrate what would
happen as gliders with varying masses collided into one another. Throughout the experiment the
measured values of the momentum before and after the collision were used to calculate the total
momentum conserved.
Introduction:
The question of whether or not momentum is lost or conserved during a collision has been a topic
of interest for many years. When two objects of equal mass or varying masses collide what is the
outcome? The gliders are used to vary the weights and the air track is used to take away all
variables of friction that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This velocity was multiplied by the mass of the glider to calculate both its momentum before and
after the collision. There were three different situations used in which the weights of the incident
and target gliders were either equal or different. When the two masses are equal, the velocity
should be exchanged from the incident glider to the target glider. Therefore, the incident glider
takes on the velocity of the target glider and the target glider takes on the velocity of the incident
glider. When the incident glider has a mass greater than the target glider, the target body takes up a
velocity in the opposite direction that is twice the incident glider.
After calculating the velocities and momentum of each collision, the percent uncertainty was
calculated by gently pushing a glider through two photo gates and recording the velocity of the
glider through each one. Using the following formula, we calculated the percent difference which is
also the percent uncertainty in our speed measurements: .
Using case 2, we calculated ratios of mass and velocity for each configuration. Using the following
formula, we compared the ratio of mass and ratio of velocity. We compared the ratios to see if
momentum was conserved by seeing if the ratios agree within three times the percent uncertainty in
the velocities.

The Prime Minister Of Canada
In 2014 Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the 15th Prime Minister of Canada, was listed in CBC s Top 10
list of Canadian Heroes; but was Trudeau really a hero? (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/top 10
canadian heroes list includes pierre trudeau jack layton 1.2676398). Pierre Trudeau, born in
Montreal in 1919, started out in politics as a layer in Quebecand as an activist in Quebec politics. In
the 1960s Trudeau got involved in federal politics with the Liberal party. In 1968 he became the
leader of the party and was elected as Prime Minister of Canada. Trudeau remained in office from

The Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism was released in 1967, giving
recommendations to the federal government on steps to be taken for equality across ethnicities.
The primary recommendation was for the implantation of a policy for official bilingualism,
making both English and French of equal importance in Canada (Language rights and judicial
wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 11). The report also
recommended that bilingualism be increased in all of the provinces. Once Pierre Trudeau gained
office one of his first things on his agenda was to bring in the Official Languages Act (OLA) in
1969, making both French and English equally recognized in Canada. Trudeau did not support the
nationalists in Quebec with their goal of separatism and this was his way to make French
Canadians feel they were of greater importance to the county (Language rights and judicial wrongs:
Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 12). Trudeau saw that this
policy should strengthen national unity in Canada through various ways. It was thought that
making the French speaking of equal importance as the English speaking in Canada it would
reduce the rising pressure coming from Quebec to separate from Canada.. The bilingualism was
also a hope that across Canada communications would become easier due to the knocking

Ephedrine Synthesis
Hemant et al. [20] reported that combination of preloading ephedrine is an effective prophylaxis
against spinal hypotension and provides hemodynamic stability when compared to the use of
ephedrine or preloading alone.
Although , ephedrine was considered as the drug of choice as a vasopressor in obstetrics it not take
the superiority. [21 23] It was reported that the administration of ephedrine increases the blood
pressure of the mother by its beta adrenergic action , so preserving uterine and placental blood
flow, while other vasopressors which have a pure alpha agonist were associated with a decrease
in this blood flow.[7] However, previous studies observed that ephedrine has a similar efficacy as
other vasopressor and causes fetal acidosis.[24] As regard to ephedrine group, this study observed

Therefore, in our study, we used a bolus followed by continuous infusion to maintain good
control of SBP with ephedrine probably to attempt increasing maternal blood pressure before
onset of spinal block induced hypotension. The recommended dose for IV ephedrine infusion is
between 0.5 mg/min to 5mg/min.[26] We selected a lower infusion dose (1.5 mg/min), after a
small dose bolus (6 mg), as our target was to keep blood pressure at baseline. We found that with
this regime ephedrine had a limited effect in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal
acidosis as there was a significant decrease in SBP after induction up to 14min in E group when
compared all values with the baseline value but still higher than L and C groups. This result differ
from the result of other authors [6,25,29] who used 2.5 ml/min of ephedrine as an infusion after
5mg bolus dose. They reported that with this dose, ephedrine was effective in maintaining blood
pressure without evidence of fetal

Factors to Determine the Validity of Information Sources...
Individuals such as university or high school students are, at one point or another in their
studies, faced with the task of having to write a technical report that involves a research
(specifically focused on existing material). There is an abundance of information available in the
world today, which covers a vast amount of fields and all this information is readily available to
the public but it is often unclear to these students that all the information available may not always
be credible and actually reliable or even true. The negligence of these students often results in non
factual research papers that are poorly written up. The failure to check for reliable sources may
lead to inadvertent plagiarism too. This report focuses on what makes sources of information more
reliable and credible than others, with a specific focus on research reports.
Readers seek sources of information that is trustworthy. That the creator, author or researcher s
ideas are their own is substantiated mainly by evidence. When given the task to have a research
report written up, it usually entails doing research and finding information created by others, this
being the case, it is imperative that credible information should be used. Remember that if your
audience has found the source you have cited from as a non credible source it could result in the
relationship between you and your audience to suffer. There are various factors that determine the
validity of a credible source of information,

Life In The 21st Century
The world is changing, and changing fast. Technology, education, health, eating habits, dress there
is hardly anything in life that is not changing, some changes we like, while others create fear and
anxiety. Several predictions were made that the world will end in 2012 based on the rollover of
the Mayan calendar but all these forecasting were proved to be fictitious. On the contrary we are
living in the 21st century, 2025 and the worldhas changed tremendously in the last 13 years. The
world has been transformed by the digital revolution and advances in medicine and human
knowledge. The present day civilization stands on two legs, one is spirituality, and the other is
science.
Today, I woke up and have a coffee. My eyes got baffled to the digital newspaper headlines and it
was written that Colonization on Mars has begun . Then suddenly I remembered my old days
when newspapers were printed on papers. Technology has changed every aspect of life. Now
people are going to live on Mars and the problem of over population has been solved. Then I got
ready and proceed towards my office. Earlier we have to catch an auto or bus to reach our
destination and now the transportation has become so simple that we can travel from one place to
another with ease. Being as an engineer in Metro Services I feel proud to work there because it has
solved the transportation problem. While sitting in the metro I saw the streets which were so clean
that not even a single paper was thrown away. At

Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger
Critical Studies 3 2015
Art Gallery Analysis
Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance
of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The
feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most
influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building
from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and
seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting,
form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the
architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural
lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled .
After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a
significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a
responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art
galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being
a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of
community. However Goldberger focusses mainly on interior being a primary experience and

Plot and Literary Style Must Interact in an Effective Way
Both the plot and literary style are elements that are unique to each author and his or her works. If
these interact in an effective way, the reader will be able to fully understand both the story line
and the message that the author is trying to communicate in the piece. Both Blindness by JosГ©
Saramago and The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster are novels in which the literary style used
enhances the plot of the story. Similarly, the storyline justifies the reasons behind the use of that
author s particular style. Saramago s style of writing reinforces the plot because it represents and
explains the events and psychological struggles endured by each individual in the novel. In
Blindness, the narrator does not reveal the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes along with the plot of the novel since it shows the reader how the characters feel being
unaware of who is talking and what they look like. Additionally, the use of language by the
author plays an important role in developing the storyline of the novel. The narrator employs
language that is formal, descriptive, and objective. The use of detailed descriptions, often in
events that people are not accustomed to openly discuss, provides the reader a much better
understanding of what the characters have to struggle with during their blindness. When the
doctor goes to the bathroom, the narrator describes how he takes down his trousers , steps on soft
pulp and then [tries] to clean himself . The use of very descriptive language allows the reader to
grasp the challenges the individuals go through. The style used by the Saramago in Blindness
reinforces the plot by emphasizing the challenges and the situations that the blind people go
through in the novel, as well as giving life to the storyline itself. Analogous to the literary style
presented by Saramago, the plot is able to justify use and enhance the features presented by it. The
plot of Blindness justifies the use of a specific literary style to get a better understanding of the
actions and the struggle for existence underwent by each individual. At the beginning of the novel,
the narrator starts out describing a typical

Spirit Airlines Business Analysis
Spirit Airlines prides itself on being a, ultra low cost carrier, or ULCC meaning they provide the
customer with unbundled base fares along with other optional services that the customer may
choose from (Spirit). This organizational capability allows the company to compete with very
little operating costs; the average cost per available seat mile was 9.65 cents in 2014(Spirit). This
means that Spirit airlines must continue to operate effectively in order to keep costs as low as
possible. One way they achieve this is by only operating with the Airbus A320 family of aircraft,
which greatly reduces the cost of training multiple crews as well as making them interchangeable
across the entire fleet (Spirit). This family of planes are also fitted with high density seating, which
helps maintain low cost by seating more than major competitors, for example the A320s
accommodate 178 passengers compared to 150 on both United and JetBlue (Spirit).
Spirit Airlines has 65 Airbus planes in their fleet the average age for the fleet is 5.1 years,
accordingly maintenance costs have been lower than expected in the past and most likely Spirit

another great concern that Spirit takes very seriously. Management has a large impact by being sure
safety standards and qualifications are being kept current. Finally, the organizing process used in
continuing with the low prices and customer satisfaction is keeping their fleet healthy by

Canada s Universal System Of Public Health Insurance
Wayne Thidodeau, of the Guardian press, reported that a 29 year old woman, nine weeks pregnant
lost her baby at County Hospital in Summerside after waiting more than three hours in the
emergency room (the Guardian reports 2010). The article further states that Christine Handrahan
was rushed to the hospital because of her excessive bleeding. After more than three hours of
extensive wait and lack of attention Christine Handrahan lost her first baby. Since 1937 universal
health care has being accorded to legal residents of Canada. This universal health care system
founded by Tommy Douglas with the aid of some organizations such as Canada health act.

History Tommy Douglas also known as the father of Medicare introduced the existence of
universal health care in 1947. This care is set out to help improve health and standard of living
making the government responsible for setting rules for Canada health act. Along side with other
organization such as Canada Health Act, universal health still exists in Canada till date. Mary
Wiktorowicz stated there were oppositions such as Canadian Medical Association, tried to block
the medical care act I 1957.(Raphael,Bryant,Rioux, 2006 p. 247). Despite the fact that universal
health care system is meant to make things better, the long waits, low budget and shortage of
health workers are all the same topics that trigger interests in the face of health maintenance.
Issues Despite the accessibility Canadians have to universal health, there are many causes of long
waits, shortage of health workers and low budget. Wait time has increased because of the lack of
follow up; the government owns the health care services so less supervision is assigned to
services. According to Cbc report Canadians wait longer in hospital emergency departments than
people in other countries with publicly funded health care systems (Cbc 2014). In relation to long
wait times, shortage of health workers is another big issue Canadians face.

Advanced Marginal Essay
Advanced Marginality creates an empty space of competition and conflict, a danger filled
battleground for the daily contest of survival and escape (Wacquant)
These areas have been established through certain economic, political, and social factors that
exploit the poor; illustrated in Matthew Desmond s book Evicted about spaces of advanced
marginality in Milwaukee. Advanced marginality is formed through globalization, the displacement
of jobs creates polarization between lower and upper class. Those financially stable leave the city,
causing economic decline through loss of jobs, social program funding, and institutions. Which
creates areas defined by race, unemployment and poverty (cite). The jobless poor in these areas are
dependent on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These areas are prime moneymaker[s] for those who saw ripe opportunity in land scarcity, housing
dilapidation and racial segregation (259). The strong demand for housing in these relatively cheap
areas, allows them to charge inflated rent for inadequate housing, ensuring that the lower class
they target can never afford to leave these areas. Legally, landlords were allowed to rent out units
not up to code if they were honest about it (73) and continued this process because renters can
easily be replaced. Heavy dependence on welfare makes them more likely to miss payments, leaving
them constantly vulnerable to the threat of eviction. Landlords have resources at their disposal to
constantly fill their properties with this lower class. For example, Belinda managed resident s
welfare, relieving the possibility of missed payments and brought her clients to landlords, like
Sherrena (cite). This relationship between tenant and landlord subsides when eviction becomes the
most cost effective solution, because landlords take financially losses personally (cite), like when
renters demand repairs, violate nuisance property ordinance or start looking for better housing all
of which pose a cost or fine to the landlord. For example, one family bypassed Sherrena in order to
get repairs. Another example is when Crystal called the police for help

Mandrill Morphology
Mandrills, or also known by their scientific name Mandrillus sphinx, live in the rain forests of
equatorial Africa, (San Diego Balboa Zoo, Mandrill exhibit/plaques, 2018). The Mandrill
Morphology: The mandrill has a distinct dental formula of 2:1:2:3, located on the maxilla and
mandible, which categorizes this primate to be in the catarrhine parvorder. All Old World
monkeys, apes, and humans share this very same 2.1.2.3 dental formula. They are well known
for their enormous canine teeth, which can be over 2 inches, roughly 5 centimeters long. Each
tooth is vital for the madrills survival, the pointed canines are used to pierce and tear at fruits or
nuts meanwhile the premolars (or bicuspids) and molars, with their multiple cusps, are used to
grind and smash food (The Primates: Monkeys, 2013). There are very distinct differences between

Thucydides Grievances
It is in this context that the four grievances of Thucydides arise. In great detail, Thucydides
describes the conflict between Corcyra and Corinth over the control of their mutual colony
Epidamnus, in which Corcyra sought aid from the naval power of Athens. He states this was the
first cause of the war that Corinthhad against the Athenians, viz. that they had fought against them
with the Corcyraeans in time of treaty. (1.55) In a speech, the Corcyraeans employ Athensthat
helping them will put them on the right side of history and would also be in their own self
interests. In a speech, they claim there are but three considerable naval powers in Hellas, Athens,
Corcyra, and Corinth, and that if you allow two of these three to become one, and Corinth to secure
us for herself, you will have to hold the sea against the united fleets of Corcyra and Peloponnese.
(1.36) Thucydides suggests that with this consideration, Athens went forward with assisting

Yet this inevitably led to them getting involved in conflict and caused strain with the agreements of
the Thirty Year s Peace. Corinth speaks you do wrong, Athenians, to begin war and break the treaty.
(1.36) The Athenian reply indicates that they believe their involvement to be just: Neither are we
beginning war, Peloponnesians, nor are we breaking the treaty; but these Corcyraeans are our allies
and we are come to help them. (1.53) From this point forward is where Thucydides identifies where
fresh differences arose between the Athenians and Peloponnesian s, and contributed their share to
the war. Corinth was forming schemes for retaliation, and Athens suspected her hostility.

Essay on Blue Ridge Spain
Introduction
Blue Ridge Spain is a joint venture established between an American fast food chain and a Spanish
agricultural firm, Terralumen. Terralumen contributed the most to Delta s success in foreign
markets. After 15 years of a successful joint venture, Costas was shocked to find out that new
owner, Delta, wanted to end the partnership despite of the joint venture s profitability.
Issues and Analysis
Cultural Issues
Cultural differences, as related to doing business, come into play here. Significant cross cultural
conflicts between parents of different nationalities paved the way for the dissolution of the joint
venture between Delta and Terralumen. In a Board of Director s meeting, the American Spanish

They also must consider if it is possible to continue without Delta, given that the Blue Ridge name
belongs to Delta. Each of the main players also has choices to make.
Player Perspectives
For Francisco Alvarez, he has always maintained a personal stake in the relationship. He helped
cultivate the joint venture from its inception and must now choose the best direction for his
company. Terralumen s main industry is agriculture, and this venture was a means of
experimenting by taking the business in a new direction. Increased, rapid restaurant expansion
would move away from the key business and is perceived as too risky for a high uncertainty
avoidance culture like Spain s. Terralumen is also family owned, so it does not have to deal with
the pressures of short term gains that a public company like Delta foods must. Alvarez needs to try
to fix the relationship, but also plan a separation strategy.
For Mikael Södergran, he was hired to apply Delta s strategy and expand the business. Delta s
philosophy has always been against joint ventures, and he was working on dissolving this venture
by any means necessary. Going forward, he must decide the best approach to ending this venture.
He must also be aware of how his actions impact future joint ventures in Spain or elsewhere.
Actions such as not paying their share on a loan in order to default the loan will not be viewed
kindly by other companies. He not only lacks

The Real Merlin Essay
From the shores of Avalon to the court of King Arthur, tales and accounts of the mystical Merlin
abound. Did Merlin really exist, and if so, was he the dark magical wizard of legend or an image
conjured up by superstitious townsfolk to explain occurrences they didn t understand? To answer
this question, one should first look at the actual accomplishments of the figure Merlin. When was
the character introduced and what did he do afterwards? What kinds of feats did this person
accomplish to make him as well known as he is? Secondly, Merlin was well known as a mythical
figure. How did this mythical figure emerge and what aspects of his life do we still remember to

Many stories of the Arthurian legend contain some reference to Merlin, as either a wizard or a
prophet. As a magician, Merlin performed feats such as the moving of Stonehenge, the disguising of
Uther Pendragon, and the crowning of King Arthur by the use of the sword in the stone (Fletcher
25). As a prophet, Merlin told of the defeat of the Saxons, the death of Arthur, and the one who
found the Holy Grail.
Almost everyone knows the story The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White wherein Merlin
instructed Arthur in his life as king, but what most don t know is that Merlin was, in legend, the
son of a devil. An incubus came and bedded with Merlin s mother so that she would bear his
child (Ackerman 168). One story that shows the significance of this union is Geoffrey of
Monmouth s Historia regum Britannae. In this book there is a section that tells the tale of
Vortigern and Ambrosius. Vortigern, the King of Britain at the time, wants to build a new retreat,
but every night the foundation is destroyed. Vortigern s wise men tell him he must sprinkle the
spot with the blood of a child born fatherless. After a long and tedious search, Ambrosius is found
and brought before Vortigern. Ambrosius tells the King not to slay him but to dig in the spot for
two vases. Those digging found these two vases and inside were two tents. Inside the two tents
were a red dragon and a white dragon. These creatures fought each other

Why We Should Not Have School Uniforms
It has often been debated if middle schoolers should or should not have school uniforms. There are
a lot of pros and cons of having school uniforms. One pro is students would not have to fight over
name brand clothing (which would cost the parents less for clothes). One counter argument talks
about how dated the system is, it also talks about how it discourages free thinking and self
expression. The cons of having school uniformsoutweigh the pros of having school uniforms. If
we did not have school uniforms it would be easier to express yourself. It would be easier to
express yourself because you aren t restricted by a mandatory school uniform. Another benefit of
not having school uniforms is that students moral would be higher. Many students dislike the idea
of having a uniform because they believe that having one creates a corporate identity and a brand
for themselves. Having school uniforms violate a student s right to freedom. The main
counterargument against this is how a uniform acts as the initiation of a passage of life. Bill O
Chee also argues that school uniforms are An equally powerful statement of belonging. They also
argue that having a school uniform would cost parents less money because the parents wouldn t...

private dispute between S and T which is not harmful to society. The dispute should be resolved
through mediation. This is because it is cheaper, faster, more informal, and also private. Most
importantly, it creates a win win situation which will allow S and T to preserve their business
relationship and compromise to settle the dispute amicably. b) This is a criminal and civil matter.
It is criminal as theft is against public interest and safety and illegal under Section 379 of the

The business will first have to file for litigation before the option for mediation at PDRC ill
become available. Since litigation is very expensive and requires lawyers, lawyer fees and takes
a longer time, SMC ill be faster and cheaper overall. Moreover, the mediator appointed at SMC is
not a judge but rather, a professional with technical expertise and field experience in the matter
being disputed. This ensures a more practical judgement as compared to at PDRC, where the
mediator is a judge of the Subordinate Courts. 4) A business which has not chosen to go for
SMC will go for mediation services offered by the court at PDRC as many people may be
unfamiliar/unaware about mediation at SMC being an option and thus filed for litigation
directly. After being made aware of the option of mediation, many would go for PDRC as it
wastes less time, since litigation usually involves long waiting periods after applying for
litigation to go to trial. Thus, most would just try mediation first and only proceed with litigation
if mediation at PDRC fails, especially since it is free. Given that litigation has started, both
parties are also more likely to compromise than before. 5) Yes, you can go for arbitration even if

Problem Identification: The problem identified in the HBR Case Study the Army Crew Team was
Coach P s assumption that choosing the most physically fit rowers would yield a high performing
team. Coach P. failed to understand how team dynamics, morale, and overall emotional intelligence
of the team can inhibit teamsuccess.
Alternative Analysis: Coach P. was baffled why the Varsity team performed poorly as opposed to
the non Varsity team. While he put much thought with selecting the most physically fit team mates,
he failed to understand the importance of recognizing and working through issues in relation to
emotional intelligence. The Varsity group kept pointing the finger on others, failing to recognize
and take accountability for their overall subpar performance. Rather than work through the negative
team dynamics, they often emailed their complaints to the coach. An emotionally intelligent group
would have worked through their issues together as a group. If someone is acting out of line, the
team members must feel comfortable calling the foul. The team needed to build positive norms
such as responding constructively in emotionally uncomfortable situations (Amabille, 2013). The

Orthodontic Braces Research Paper
Orthodontic braces are more beneficial than clear aligners because they work on even the most
complex issues. A deep bite is a case of a complex orthodontic issue, Dr. Matthew Wiring from
Wiring Orthodontics states that A deep bite is when the upper teeth completely overlap and cover
the lower teeth. This can be a severe problem if the lower teethhit the roof of the mouth (Wiring
par. 7). This suggests that in a certain case of a deep bite, orthodontic braces are the best method to
treat this situation. The alignment of the upper and lower teeth would fall under a category that
traditional braces are able to fix because braces would pull the teeth forward back into proper
alignment with the help of elastics and other orthodontic appliances.... Show more content on

If the jaw is small, teeth may grow in crowded or crooked... if there is too much space in the jaw,
the teeth may drift out of place (Holht par. 4). Malocclusion, or a bad bite, can be categorized as an
orthodontic complex issue because it can cause severe consequences. Fortunately, malocclusion can
be treated with traditional orthodontic braces because they work slowly to shift the teeth in the
correct position, thus fixing the alignment of the jaw. Realigning the upper and lower jaws back
into place is difficult. Despite this, orthodontic braces are recommended as they would treat this
issue. Alignment of the teeth is also a complex orthodontic issue, Dr.Steven M. Dater from Steven
M. Dater Dentistry suggests that Braces can fix the position of the teeth, as well as correcting the
bite. Braces are the best option if you are dealing with a severe bite problem, or other complex
treatment is needed (Dater par. 2). This shows that even severe crowding of the teeth can be treated
with braces as they would drift the teeth back into place.Crowding of the teeth, or too many teeth in

The Sandman By E. T. A Literary Analysis
The perplexing short story, The Sandman by E.T.A. Hoffman, conveys an unsettling dark tale about
a man struggling with the effect of a traumatic childhood experience. Hoffman delivers an
imaginatively chilling portrayal of the looming consequences adolescent perception can have on
adult life. Studies have shown that childhoodtrauma may harmfully affect the brain structure and
cause children to be at risk for psychiatric disorders later in life (Bergeron 1). Similarly, this idea is
shown in Hoffman s tale as the main character Nathaniel plunges repeatedly into despair and
madness because of the fear introduced in his youth. Although childhood fears may not always be
grounded in reality, overwhelming conditions could have a negative impact on... Show more content

Nathaniel, who enjoyed the moments before bed in the company of his father, associated the
Sandman with the unwelcoming separation from his father. Soon after, his sister s nanny teasingly
tells of a darker story about the wicked Sandman, who gouges the eyes out of children who will
not go to sleep, feeding their eyes to his own kids (Hoffman 2). Furthermore, his own imaginings
about the Sandman continued to grow strong. Nathaniel s fear grew more intense when he believes
his father is murdered by Coppelius, whom he believes to be the evil Sandman. Expressively,
Hoffman s story illustrates the power of perception and the dangers of subtle progression. Imposing
threats help to create harmful visualizations. Children are especially taunted by fears and
environmental influences and may silently cope with things they do not fully understand.
Clara is disturbed after she reads the letter meant her brother Lothaire. For this reason, she replies
to Nathaniel to eagerly express her astute insight and discerning opinion into the probable cause of
Nathaniel s affliction; his memories had not been real, but merely misguided by his own
imagination (Hoffman 7 9). The influence of an individual s thought life and belief system can
severely disrupt life and relationships. For instance, when Nathaniel believed that

Many of Collier s short stories deal with human wickedness. He exposes both his male and female
characters as being greedy, selfish, dishonest, immoral, and sadistic. In fact, it might be said that
Collier s dominant theme was human depravity. His misanthropy and pessimism would have
prevented him from becoming a popular writer if he had not had the wisdom to leaven his stories
with humor.
Collier resembles Ambrose Bierce, whose The Devil s Dictionary (1906) cynically defines
marriage as The state or condition of a community consisting of a master, a mistress and two
slaves, making in all, two, and love as A temporary insanity curable by marriage or the removal of
the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. Collier would certainly have
agreed with these definitions, as well as with most of the other definitions in Bierce s bitterly
cynical book. Like Bierce, Collier made his grim philosophy palatable to the average reader by
sprinkling his stories with humor, a humor that was often based on the contrast between fact and
fantasy, between expectation and outcome, between illusion and reality. Like most humorists, he
had a great deal of melancholy in his temperament. His humor is laughter in the dark.
Style and Technique
In this exceptionally short work, Collier uses a strictly objective technique. He briefly describes the
two characters and the setting in the opening paragraphs, then lets his characters tell

Healthy Blood Circulation Research Paper
It is very important and vital to a person s overall health to make sure that there is proper blood
circulation throughout the body. There are many ways to improve circulation. Some of the tactics
are very enjoyable. Depending on the person, some ways may not be as much fun. However, it is
important to give each of the ways on this list a fighting chance in order to maintain healthy blood
circulation.
1. Exercise.
There s nothing like a good, heart pumping cardio workout to get the blood pumping and
circulating throughout the system. In order to get the best results, try workouts like swimming,
jogging, step aerobics, and the elliptical machine. If you re easing into workouts again, take it one

How Enhanced Kratom is Different from Super and Premium Kratom?
Kratom, whose scientific name is Mitragyna speciosa, is a medicinal plant that has been used for
thousands of years in Southeast Asia. The plant only gained prominence in the Western world in the
last few decades. According to an excerpt on Kratomlegend, a leaf of this plant can contain up to 40
naturally occurring alkaloids, the potent ingredient that interacts with the nervous system of the
human body to produce wide ranging health effects. The leaves of the plant are usually dark green
while the flowers are typically yellow in color. The plant grows very fast since it absorbs sunlight
and CO2 at a much higher rate compared to most plants. A mature Kratomtree can grow up to 15
feet or more. Its treatment potential is wide and far reaching and includes:
Calming the nerves
Mood lifting
Lowering blood pressure
Ease depression
Relieve pain and body ache
Stimulation of the immune system
Energize the body
Kratom enthusiasts also take it to enhance libido, sharpen the levels of concentration and for
achieving a state of optimism and euphoria. The herb can also be prescribed to people addicted
to hard opiates such as opium and heroin. If taken responsibly, Kratom is very safe and has little
or no serious side effects. The mild effects include nausea and difficulty sleeping. It is also
important to note that Kratom is not known to cause addiction or withdrawal symptoms. The
Kratom sold in the market bears many names, the most widely used product categories are
Enhanced Kratom, Premium Kratom and Super Kratom. Over the years, Kratom has also evolved,

Characters In Gary Faulsen s Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is

novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He
really can t let himself down because no one else will be there to help him survive in the wilderness.
Therefore, because Brian is the alone in the wilderness he becomes committed, resourceful, and

To begin, Brian is many different traits but the one I think he mostly is committed. An example of
this would be on page 51, where Gary Paulsen writes, He had to do something to help himself. I

that Brian is so committed that he won t even think about letting himself give up or even think

Carl Von Clausewitz
Carl von Clausewitz is acknowledged to be one of the most influential writer on the topic of war
and strategy. Despite the fact that Carl von Clausewitz wrote around 200 years ago his thoughts
about the war remain relevant. This essay will explore to what extent the thoughts of Carl von
Clausewitz can be adequate for explaining warfare in the modern era. The paper will introduce
Clausewitz s very systematic approach to the subject of warand will prove how useful it remains
for formulating a definition of war that is able to conceptualize the many different forms of
modern war. To achieve this task, the definitions war is more than a chameleon and the wondrous
trinity , come to demonstrate that the theories of Carl Von Clausewitz are still adequate for
explaining warfare in the modern era. Apart from that, Clausewitz s tactical thought on defense and
offence can help to explain why powerful states are not always able to win small wars .
Clausewitz said that war is more than a chameleon, that simply changes its appearance as its
environment changes. War being is more than a true chameleon; it is actually a paradoxical trinity

Fredrick Douglas Summary
Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglas Summary: The Narrative of the life of Fredrick
Douglas focuses on both the experiences and struggles encountered by Fredrick Douglas during
his time as a slave. Fredrick was exposed to what he believed were the evils of slavery, as well as
the effects it had on both slaves and slave holders. The beginning of the narrative takes place in
the late 1800s where a young Douglas lives the life of slave under Captain Anthony. Like all other
slaves he is unaware of his date of birth and left uneducated. During this time Douglas was left
unsure about his situation, confused as to why slaves could not know their date of birth and
unaware that the joyful toned songs sung by slaves were of grief. Douglas

Ku Klux Klan Influence
Various inhabitants of the US have a sense of nationalism and American pride within their souls and
hearts. However, in a particular case of US history, this very pride lead to a radical nationalist
organization that was able to recruit a phenomenal 5,000,000 members, lynch thousands of innocent
minorities, break national news, dominate the American legislature, break fear into millions of
individuals, and ultimately still exist today. This group is identified as none other but the infamous
Ku Klux Klan. A ruthless and widespread organization in the United States that successfully
illuminated itself as being 100% American in the late 19th century and to date. In an illustration, the

The very first set of these measures was violent and killed many in the process, and in this case,
the actions were against primarily Blacks and minorities. The first acts of brutality included
lynchings ranging anywhere from tens to hundred of Blacks. A prime example of such behavior
occurred in January 1871, when 500 masked men attacked a union jail and lynched over 8 Black
men while leaving others severely injured ( Ku Klux Klan ). In other cases, the KKK would attack
and attempt to assassinate Blacks in the American legislature in an effort to bring back pure White
dominance that existed before reconstruction. Furthermore, the KKK would outright commit
homicide to minorities in the US, and as a result, it is estimated that the Klan murdered nearly
1,000 Blacks in Texas alone due to the klan s actions. Likewise, it was also not uncommon for the
Klan to kill Jews, Catholics, and immigrants (Schuyler). Lastly, the Klan also participated in night
raids. In this case, the group would go out at night and attack the properties of mainly Blacks and
supporters of Reconstruction. The Klansmen disguised themselves in white robes which hid their
identity along with the mass of the crowd. Also, because of the anonymity, tracking individuals

Evolution Of A Beetle Research Paper
Introduction/Definition
In the natural world, the animal s survival is based on the premise of how well they adapt in a
particular environment and form relationships with other species. Animals have survived for
thousands of years, because of this focused reasoning. Success is accredited to the outsmarting of
adversaries by several known strategic techniques, such as camouflage, deceptive markings,
warning coloration, and chemical defense, but the most intriguing is mimicry. Camouflage and
mimicry are defined by Peter Forbes as the resemblance that one life form has either to another or

Meaning Of The Song This Will End
This Will End by The Oh Hellos, is a song that talks about not staying with a lover, that isn t
giving you need, and the hurt that comes with it. The second verse of this song starts out by
saying But I can hope how this will end, with every line of comedy, that we could learn to love
without demand, but undeserved honesty (AZLyrics 2). This is the first hint of the meaning of the
song. The song is talking about an abusive relationship. He is pleading that they would learn
how to love each other, just for love, and to be honest with each other. The song goes on with the
fourth verse, and says I can see how this will end, in all it s bitter tragedy, I ll give you all I have to

The Organisational Process Of Buying A Train Ticket
This essay uses technological determinism to analyse the organisational process of buying a train
ticket. In particular, I will be looking at concepts such as the rate of diffusion, the technological
agency and also the views of hard and soft technological determinism. Smith and Marx (1998:14)
describe technological determinism as the human tendency to create the kind of society that invests
technologies with enough power to drive history . This definition of technological determinism can
be related to the process of buying a train ticket as this essay shows how organizations used
technologyto make this process more efficient and as a result, changed the way that society buys
train ticket, which became the norm now. L J (2004:617) believe that technological determinism
represent the belief that the progress of society is driven by technological innovationand this has an
inevitable path. Society will evolve and adapt to these new technological changes. The way that
society has changed their ways of buying train ticketsand how they view buying it online is the
way forward, can be best shown by the quote from L J. Buying a train ticket has changed a lot in
the last 15 years especially with the introduction of the World Wide Web which changed the way
society works and this essay focuses specifically on the collection of train tickets after you have
bought them and how technology has enabled us to do that.
There are two forms or two extremes of technological determinism

Compare And Contrast The Cost Of Blockbuster Movies
How much does it cost to make a blockbuster movie? It takes a lot of work and money to make
movies. A film has to go through three stages of preproduction, production and post production in
order to create that film. There are many similarities from the studio system and the independent
system but today majority of the films are established with a combination of independents and the
major studios. Movies start in the preproduction phase where they began the process and start to
try to secure financing for their project. Sometimes producers have enough money to begin their
project. If they don t have any start up money to begin, they will have to try and market their ideas
of projection of costs and profits to investors. According to Barsam and Monahan (2016), No...

The movies are so expensive because there are so many costs that go in to a budget for a film.
Typically, the highest costs in films are for the cast and the industry has gotten creative to finding
ways to assist instead of paying a fee for an actor or producer upfront, to include it in the contract as
a percentage of the profits goes to them. Some examples of the costs of a movie are: Story, director,
producer, cinematography, cast and etc. The studio system will use a general manager to assist with
budget, while the independent system uses a producer. The marketing and distribution are a very
important stage in the post production phase. They need to gauge the interest of audiences by using
preview screenings along with questionnaires. Once they analyze all the information, they can adapt
or modify the distribution to ensure the most effective ways of getting their profits. Before the
Supreme Court Paramount Decision, the studio system controlled everything from production,
distribution and exhibition and now they have to use other companies to assist in the distribution
and exhibition. The independent system had different routes they could take by

Magwitch Character Analysis
rightfully afraid of any man bearing the appearance of Magwitch and one who threatens to eat
you. Pip s character, for the most part at the beginning of the novel, is replete with fear and
cowardice. At the same time, one might say that these characteristics are the result of his
exposure to certain overbearing and threatening persons. Of course this is seen with Magwitch
but more so in the presence of Pip s sister, Mrs. Joe Gargery. She boasts that she has brought me
[Pip] up by hand (Dickens 6). Her character is so sour during the first few chapters of the book
and her display of brutality toward Pip and Joe is such that gives us reason not to pity Mrs. Joe
but to pity Joe and Pip. She is described as not a good looking woman and having a habit of going
on the Ram page (Dickens 6 7). Furthermore, Pip describes her doing things in a very violent
way; e.g. a trenchant way of cutting our bread and butter , her housekeeping of the strictest kind
, among many other violent and abusive examples (Dickens 8). Therefore one might say that Pip
s character is justified. However, there is a ray of hope of some kind of bravery in Pip. Pip
promised Magwitch he would get him food and a file; Pip does fulfill his promise, despite the
threats of Mrs. Joe, and therefore shows some good heroic qualities of honesty and bravery in the
midst of threats. Although coercion and the threat of death spur such actions, these characteristics
are there in Pip. Pip is more or less a puny,

Tweeting From Courtroom
Essay (30 points)
Using online databases, research the issue of tweeting from court. After learning the pros and con
surrounding the issue, write a 600 word opinion piece arguing either for or against allowing that
particular use of technology in court. Be sure to cite specific examples of cases (instances) where
tweeting was an issue.
Tweeting from courtroom is a method of reporting that is growing in popularity (Lozare, 2011).
Twitter can facilitate the transfer of information due to its simple interface and its popularity among
social media user. Using Twitter, reporters can conveniently provide quick updates and report some
interesting observations that might not show up in their articles (Lozare, 2011).

Opponents of this issue argued that the possibility of a tweet to go viral might lead to mistrials and
contempt citations ( Reporters live tweeting from court risks mistrials , 2011). This is likely to
happen when journalists cross the line of reporting as they attempt to fit as many information as
possible within a short time frame and limited number of characters.
Considering the focus of this debate, it appears that one of the most important aspects of tweeting
from courtroom is the lack of editorial oversight. (Tweeting from courtrooms, 2012). Although this
situation might benefits the public through the lack of censorship, it has its fair share of
shortcomings too.
An example of the disadvantage of the lack of editorial oversight occurs when disturbing contents,
such as graphic evidence from a crime scene, are presented in the courtroom. Once content is
published on the Internet, it is often difficult to remove it the Internet. With the difficulty to decide
on appropriateness in a matter of seconds, tweeting from courts without editorial oversight might
cause some problems (Tweeting from courtrooms, 2012). For instance, journalists might
accidentally tweet something based on their opinion or prejudice rather than the fact, due to the fact
that they have to type their observation in real time. If this prejudice affects the public opinion, it
might harm the trial

Essay Comparing The Red Badge Of Courage And The Locket
The novels The Red Badge of Courage and The Locket are a very significant piece of readings.
The books tell a historic event by giving highly descriptive details and activities that would put you
in a place of where it is being held. The two readings have numerous of similarities of settings and
themes. Throughout the readings, they use symbolism to help convey the meaning of the text.
However, they do have some differences which make these two storybooks great, understanding,
and easy to distinguish.
There are varieties of similarities of setting in the novels. First, they both begin in an unknown
battle in the Civil Warduring the 1860s. But then the concept of nature is being used second to
describe the settings that were taking place. The Red Badge of Courage setting in nature is peaceful,
but later on the setting turns into a disturbing way of the earth. The Locke s setting characterizes
nature in the beginning of the men gathered around during the war and the second setting is how
the characters are traveling through the beautiful season of spring. In this image, it gets the readers
attention and understanding to get the warmth and feelings of the outside without physically being
there.

The Design Of Roman Aqueducts
The Design of Roman Aqueducts: Pont du Gard
Roman structures dominated the Roman values and power across the landscape of Europe. Many
of these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture
and engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing
monumentally over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution
system is an achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being
supplied daily to the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate
Pont du Gard as one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its
design processes, along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design.
Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the
majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of
Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman
engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing
until today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the
distance of 50 km. The gradient over the whole course of the aqueduct is only a mere 0.034
percent and the actual gradient on the section downstream of Pont du Gard is no more than 7 mm
per 100 m. This

Dbq Stamp Act
a) The Stamp Act was issued in 1765 by Parliament, and it forced colonists to pay a tax on all
printed documents such as newspapers, pamphlets, college diplomas, land titles, and playing
cards. This tariff was created in order to cover part of the cost of stationing the British troops in
America which proved to be very costly. b) In response to this new levy, 9 colonial delegates
were sent to meet at the Stamp Act Congress of 1765 held in New York City. At this meeting,
they protested their loss of American rights and liberties caused by the issuing of the Stamp Act
as well as others like it. The Stamp Act was challenged by the ideas of the constitution and
eventually repealed in 1766. c) Another effect of the implementation of the Stamp Act was the
creation of the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty was an organization determined to fight for
the rights of the colonists and protect them against heavy taxation by the British. In reaction to the
Stamp Act, the Sons of Liberty burned a statue of Andrew Oliver, a tax collector, as well as
destroyed his newly built home. Other than working to rid of the Stamp Act, the Stamp Act

Diversity In The Movie Freedom Writers
Everybody thinks you should be happy just because you re young. They don t see the wars that

There are dead bodies on the street, the students have to protect themselves from other gangs,
and most of them didn t finish high school. It might not be a big issue for us because we didn t
face it by ourselves, but after watching this movie you will know that it is a significant thing to

one another. Ethics, skin color, and how you look are the things that make you who you are.
Erin does not only inspire the students, but the audience too. She never gave up on her position,
moreover she is enhanced in it each day. She didn t change the student s character, but she
changed the student s point of view and it made them feel like their lives were worth living. She
broke down the walls that separated the students from each other. This movie demonstrated that
to change how we think about our life can make our life different. The song in this movie helps
in making the story more interesting, you can clearly see how the story flows and how all the
problems were solved. This movie shows us what is happening now in our world, they
demonstrated us the conflict and showed us that many people have been suffering from it.

Colin Singleton Character Analysis
Author s purpose John Green s main purpose in writing this novel was to say it s okay to not
know who you are. Colin Singleton was seventeen and panicking because he doesn t know who he
is. He just got dumped his nineteenth Katherine and has fallen into a depression, Colin Singleton
is nothing but a brain without a Katherine by his side. Colin finds out that just because he s a
former child prodigy, that doesn t mean he s going to be a genius in his adult years to come. He
has trouble accepting that because he wants to be remembered as someone important.
Major Characters To begin, at the start of the novelColin Singleton has dated nineteen girls
named Katherine, because girls named Katherine were his type . He has also been dumped by all
of these Katherine s, except number three. Then, at the end of the novel he s dating a girl named
Lindsey , not Katherine. Which is probably his eureka moment that he s been looking for ever
since he was a little boy. That s probably the biggest character change in this book.
Major Theme The overall theme of the book is finding yourself and who you are. There are several
small themes that are seen throughout the book, one of those is love and another is being
remembered. Colin makes it a priority to have a Katherine because without one, he doesn t know
how to function correctly. Without a Katherine he doesn t even know who he is. He starts having
trouble finding himself after he gets dumped by Katherine number nineteen.

The Causes and Effects of Deforestation in Tropical Rainforests
Tropical rainforests are the most alive places on earth. Covering less than 12% of the land s
surface, the rainforests are home to more than half of all living species (Lewis, 4). 90% of all
non primates reside in tropical rainforests. Two thirds of known plants, 40% birds of prey, and
80% of all insects are found only in tropical rainforests. Of the 2.5 to 5 million animals species
thought to exist, only about one half have been identified to date. The vast majority of rainforests
are found in Brazil (Amazon), South Asia, Africa, and Central America. (WRM, 16).

Most rainforest life grows and dwells in this layer. It is a tangled mass of vines, treetops, and
other plants, and rises about 100 130 feet above the floor. The understorey rises about 50 80 feet,
and it is made up of shrubs, bushes, seedlings, and saplings. Because of a lack of light, the forest
floor is typically bare. Only some scattering of leaves, decaying plant matter, and other small plants
can be found on the rainforest floor. (Lewis, 16).
Each layer of the rainforest is a unique habitat, and animals from one layer rarely venture into
another one. Mammals such as elephants, deer, and tiger dwell on the forest floor. Primates such as
gibbons, howler monkeys, and chimpanzees dwell in trees. Other tree dwellers include sloth,
squirrels, mice. One out of three bird species in the world nest in rainforests about 2,600 species
in all. These exotic birds, such as toucans, hornbills, and fly catchers, form a massive array of color
against the green background. (Lewis, 20 21).
Relationships between organisms in the rainforest is a complex web of intimate connections and
interdependencies. For example, insects pollinate a large variety of plants, which in turn are food
for other insects and herbivores. Insects and herbivores are food for birds and carnivores. These
predators keep populations in check as well as recycle nutrients to plants

  • 4. Linear Momentum Abstract: This experiment studies the conservation of linear momentum through a carefully calculated collision. Two gliders were used on an air track with different weights to demonstrate what would happen as gliders with varying masses collided into one another. Throughout the experiment the measured values of the momentum before and after the collision were used to calculate the total momentum conserved. Introduction: The question of whether or not momentum is lost or conserved during a collision has been a topic of interest for many years. When two objects of equal mass or varying masses collide what is the outcome? The gliders are used to vary the weights and the air track is used to take away all variables of friction that could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This velocity was multiplied by the mass of the glider to calculate both its momentum before and after the collision. There were three different situations used in which the weights of the incident and target gliders were either equal or different. When the two masses are equal, the velocity should be exchanged from the incident glider to the target glider. Therefore, the incident glider takes on the velocity of the target glider and the target glider takes on the velocity of the incident glider. When the incident glider has a mass greater than the target glider, the target body takes up a velocity in the opposite direction that is twice the incident glider. After calculating the velocities and momentum of each collision, the percent uncertainty was calculated by gently pushing a glider through two photo gates and recording the velocity of the glider through each one. Using the following formula, we calculated the percent difference which is also the percent uncertainty in our speed measurements: . Using case 2, we calculated ratios of mass and velocity for each configuration. Using the following formula, we compared the ratio of mass and ratio of velocity. We compared the ratios to see if momentum was conserved by seeing if the ratios agree within three times the percent uncertainty in the velocities. . • 5. The Prime Minister Of Canada In 2014 Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the 15th Prime Minister of Canada, was listed in CBC s Top 10 list of Canadian Heroes; but was Trudeau really a hero? (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/top 10 canadian heroes list includes pierre trudeau jack layton 1.2676398). Pierre Trudeau, born in Montreal in 1919, started out in politics as a layer in Quebecand as an activist in Quebec politics. In the 1960s Trudeau got involved in federal politics with the Liberal party. In 1968 he became the leader of the party and was elected as Prime Minister of Canada. Trudeau remained in office from 1968 1979 and again from 1980 1984 (http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/pierre elliott trudeau/). Trudeau was strong willed, charismatic and had a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism was released in 1967, giving recommendations to the federal government on steps to be taken for equality across ethnicities. The primary recommendation was for the implantation of a policy for official bilingualism, making both English and French of equal importance in Canada (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 11). The report also recommended that bilingualism be increased in all of the provinces. Once Pierre Trudeau gained office one of his first things on his agenda was to bring in the Official Languages Act (OLA) in 1969, making both French and English equally recognized in Canada. Trudeau did not support the nationalists in Quebec with their goal of separatism and this was his way to make French Canadians feel they were of greater importance to the county (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 12). Trudeau saw that this policy should strengthen national unity in Canada through various ways. It was thought that making the French speaking of equal importance as the English speaking in Canada it would reduce the rising pressure coming from Quebec to separate from Canada.. The bilingualism was also a hope that across Canada communications would become easier due to the knocking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ephedrine Synthesis Hemant et al. [20] reported that combination of preloading ephedrine is an effective prophylaxis against spinal hypotension and provides hemodynamic stability when compared to the use of ephedrine or preloading alone. Although , ephedrine was considered as the drug of choice as a vasopressor in obstetrics it not take the superiority. [21 23] It was reported that the administration of ephedrine increases the blood pressure of the mother by its beta adrenergic action , so preserving uterine and placental blood flow, while other vasopressors which have a pure alpha agonist were associated with a decrease in this blood flow.[7] However, previous studies observed that ephedrine has a similar efficacy as other vasopressor and causes fetal acidosis.[24] As regard to ephedrine group, this study observed hypotension in 37.9% of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, in our study, we used a bolus followed by continuous infusion to maintain good control of SBP with ephedrine probably to attempt increasing maternal blood pressure before onset of spinal block induced hypotension. The recommended dose for IV ephedrine infusion is between 0.5 mg/min to 5mg/min.[26] We selected a lower infusion dose (1.5 mg/min), after a small dose bolus (6 mg), as our target was to keep blood pressure at baseline. We found that with this regime ephedrine had a limited effect in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal acidosis as there was a significant decrease in SBP after induction up to 14min in E group when compared all values with the baseline value but still higher than L and C groups. This result differ from the result of other authors [6,25,29] who used 2.5 ml/min of ephedrine as an infusion after 5mg bolus dose. They reported that with this dose, ephedrine was effective in maintaining blood pressure without evidence of fetal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Factors to Determine the Validity of Information Sources... Individuals such as university or high school students are, at one point or another in their studies, faced with the task of having to write a technical report that involves a research (specifically focused on existing material). There is an abundance of information available in the world today, which covers a vast amount of fields and all this information is readily available to the public but it is often unclear to these students that all the information available may not always be credible and actually reliable or even true. The negligence of these students often results in non factual research papers that are poorly written up. The failure to check for reliable sources may lead to inadvertent plagiarism too. This report focuses on what makes sources of information more reliable and credible than others, with a specific focus on research reports. Readers seek sources of information that is trustworthy. That the creator, author or researcher s ideas are their own is substantiated mainly by evidence. When given the task to have a research report written up, it usually entails doing research and finding information created by others, this being the case, it is imperative that credible information should be used. Remember that if your audience has found the source you have cited from as a non credible source it could result in the relationship between you and your audience to suffer. There are various factors that determine the validity of a credible source of information, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Life In The 21st Century The world is changing, and changing fast. Technology, education, health, eating habits, dress there is hardly anything in life that is not changing, some changes we like, while others create fear and anxiety. Several predictions were made that the world will end in 2012 based on the rollover of the Mayan calendar but all these forecasting were proved to be fictitious. On the contrary we are living in the 21st century, 2025 and the worldhas changed tremendously in the last 13 years. The world has been transformed by the digital revolution and advances in medicine and human knowledge. The present day civilization stands on two legs, one is spirituality, and the other is science. Today, I woke up and have a coffee. My eyes got baffled to the digital newspaper headlines and it was written that Colonization on Mars has begun . Then suddenly I remembered my old days when newspapers were printed on papers. Technology has changed every aspect of life. Now people are going to live on Mars and the problem of over population has been solved. Then I got ready and proceed towards my office. Earlier we have to catch an auto or bus to reach our destination and now the transportation has become so simple that we can travel from one place to another with ease. Being as an engineer in Metro Services I feel proud to work there because it has solved the transportation problem. While sitting in the metro I saw the streets which were so clean that not even a single paper was thrown away. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger Critical Studies 3 2015 Art Gallery Analysis Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting, form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled . After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of community. However Goldberger focusses mainly on interior being a primary experience and although it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Plot and Literary Style Must Interact in an Effective Way Both the plot and literary style are elements that are unique to each author and his or her works. If these interact in an effective way, the reader will be able to fully understand both the story line and the message that the author is trying to communicate in the piece. Both Blindness by JosГ© Saramago and The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster are novels in which the literary style used enhances the plot of the story. Similarly, the storyline justifies the reasons behind the use of that author s particular style. Saramago s style of writing reinforces the plot because it represents and explains the events and psychological struggles endured by each individual in the novel. In Blindness, the narrator does not reveal the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This goes along with the plot of the novel since it shows the reader how the characters feel being unaware of who is talking and what they look like. Additionally, the use of language by the author plays an important role in developing the storyline of the novel. The narrator employs language that is formal, descriptive, and objective. The use of detailed descriptions, often in events that people are not accustomed to openly discuss, provides the reader a much better understanding of what the characters have to struggle with during their blindness. When the doctor goes to the bathroom, the narrator describes how he takes down his trousers , steps on soft pulp and then [tries] to clean himself . The use of very descriptive language allows the reader to grasp the challenges the individuals go through. The style used by the Saramago in Blindness reinforces the plot by emphasizing the challenges and the situations that the blind people go through in the novel, as well as giving life to the storyline itself. Analogous to the literary style presented by Saramago, the plot is able to justify use and enhance the features presented by it. The plot of Blindness justifies the use of a specific literary style to get a better understanding of the actions and the struggle for existence underwent by each individual. • 11. Spirit Airlines Business Analysis Spirit Airlines prides itself on being a, ultra low cost carrier, or ULCC meaning they provide the customer with unbundled base fares along with other optional services that the customer may choose from (Spirit). This organizational capability allows the company to compete with very little operating costs; the average cost per available seat mile was 9.65 cents in 2014(Spirit). This means that Spirit airlines must continue to operate effectively in order to keep costs as low as possible. One way they achieve this is by only operating with the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, which greatly reduces the cost of training multiple crews as well as making them interchangeable across the entire fleet (Spirit). This family of planes are also fitted with high density seating, which helps maintain low cost by seating more than major competitors, for example the A320s accommodate 178 passengers compared to 150 on both United and JetBlue (Spirit). Mary Wiktorowicz stated there were oppositions such as Canadian Medical Association, tried to block the medical care act I 1957.(Raphael,Bryant,Rioux, 2006 p. 247). Despite the fact that universal health care system is meant to make things better, the long waits, low budget and shortage of health workers are all the same topics that trigger interests in the face of health maintenance. Issues Despite the accessibility Canadians have to universal health, there are many causes of long waits, shortage of health workers and low budget. Wait time has increased because of the lack of follow up; the government owns the health care services so less supervision is assigned to services. According to Cbc report Canadians wait longer in hospital emergency departments than people in other countries with publicly funded health care systems (Cbc 2014). Advanced Marginal Essay Advanced Marginality creates an empty space of competition and conflict, a danger filled battleground for the daily contest of survival and escape (Wacquant) These areas have been established through certain economic, political, and social factors that exploit the poor; illustrated in Matthew Desmond s book Evicted about spaces of advanced marginality in Milwaukee. Advanced marginality is formed through globalization, the displacement of jobs creates polarization between lower and upper class. These areas are prime moneymaker[s] for those who saw ripe opportunity in land scarcity, housing dilapidation and racial segregation (259). The strong demand for housing in these relatively cheap areas, allows them to charge inflated rent for inadequate housing, ensuring that the lower class they target can never afford to leave these areas. Legally, landlords were allowed to rent out units not up to code if they were honest about it (73) and continued this process because renters can easily be replaced. Heavy dependence on welfare makes them more likely to miss payments, leaving them constantly vulnerable to the threat of eviction. Landlords have resources at their disposal to constantly fill their properties with this lower class. For example, Belinda managed resident s welfare, relieving the possibility of missed payments and brought her clients to landlords, like Sherrena (cite). This relationship between tenant and landlord subsides when eviction becomes the most cost effective solution, because landlords take financially losses personally (cite), like when renters demand repairs, violate nuisance property ordinance or start looking for better housing all of which pose a cost or fine to the landlord. For example, one family bypassed Sherrena in order to get repairs. Another example is when Crystal called the police for help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In great detail, Thucydides describes the conflict between Corcyra and Corinth over the control of their mutual colony Epidamnus, in which Corcyra sought aid from the naval power of Athens. He states this was the first cause of the war that Corinthhad against the Athenians, viz. that they had fought against them with the Corcyraeans in time of treaty. A deep bite is a case of a complex orthodontic issue, Dr. Matthew Wiring from Wiring Orthodontics states that A deep bite is when the upper teeth completely overlap and cover the lower teeth. This can be a severe problem if the lower teethhit the roof of the mouth (Wiring par. 7). This suggests that in a certain case of a deep bite, orthodontic braces are the best method to treat this situation. Furthermore, his own imaginings about the Sandman continued to grow strong. Nathaniel s fear grew more intense when he believes his father is murdered by Coppelius, whom he believes to be the evil Sandman. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of Collier s short stories deal with human wickedness. He exposes both his male and female characters as being greedy, selfish, dishonest, immoral, and sadistic. In fact, it might be said that Collier s dominant theme was human depravity. His misanthropy and pessimism would have prevented him from becoming a popular writer if he had not had the wisdom to leaven his stories with humor. Collier resembles Ambrose Bierce, whose The Devil s Dictionary (1906) cynically defines marriage as The state or condition of a community consisting of a master, a mistress and two slaves, making in all, two, and love as A temporary insanity curable by marriage or the removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. Collier would certainly have agreed with these definitions, as well as with most of the other definitions in Bierce s bitterly cynical book. Like Bierce, Collier made his grim philosophy palatable to the average reader by sprinkling his stories with humor, a humor that was often based on the contrast between fact and fantasy, between expectation and outcome, between illusion and reality. Like most humorists, he had a great deal of melancholy in his temperament. His humor is laughter in the dark. Style and Technique In this exceptionally short work, Collier uses a strictly objective technique. He briefly describes the two characters and the setting in the opening paragraphs, then lets his characters tell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The paper will introduce Clausewitz s very systematic approach to the subject of warand will prove how useful it remains for formulating a definition of war that is able to conceptualize the many different forms of modern war. To achieve this task, the definitions war is more than a chameleon and the wondrous trinity , come to demonstrate that the theories of Carl Von Clausewitz are still adequate for explaining warfare in the modern era. Apart from that, Clausewitz s tactical thought on defense and offence can help to explain why powerful states are not always able to win small wars . Clausewitz said that war is more than a chameleon, that simply changes its appearance as its environment changes. War being is more than a true chameleon; it is actually a paradoxical trinity that, in short, is made up of primordial violence, chance, and reason with these three variables constantly in tension with each other. Pip s character, for the most part at the beginning of the novel, is replete with fear and cowardice. At the same time, one might say that these characteristics are the result of his exposure to certain overbearing and threatening persons. Of course this is seen with Magwitch but more so in the presence of Pip s sister, Mrs. Joe Gargery. She boasts that she has brought me [Pip] up by hand (Dickens 6). Her character is so sour during the first few chapters of the book and her display of brutality toward Pip and Joe is such that gives us reason not to pity Mrs. Joe but to pity Joe and Pip. She is described as not a good looking woman and having a habit of going on the Ram page (Dickens 6 7). Furthermore, Pip describes her doing things in a very violent way; e.g. a trenchant way of cutting our bread and butter , her housekeeping of the strictest kind , among many other violent and abusive examples (Dickens 8). Therefore one might say that Pip s character is justified. However, there is a ray of hope of some kind of bravery in Pip. Pip promised Magwitch he would get him food and a file; Pip does fulfill his promise, despite the threats of Mrs. Joe, and therefore shows some good heroic qualities of honesty and bravery in the midst of threats. Many of these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture and engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing monumentally over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution system is an achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being supplied daily to the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate Pont du Gard as one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its design processes, along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design. Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing until today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the distance of 50 km. • 53. The Causes and Effects of Deforestation in Tropical... The Causes and Effects of Deforestation in Tropical Rainforests Tropical rainforests are the most alive places on earth. Covering less than 12% of the land s surface, the rainforests are home to more than half of all living species (Lewis, 4). 90% of all non primates reside in tropical rainforests. Two thirds of known plants, 40% birds of prey, and 80% of all insects are found only in tropical rainforests. Only some scattering of leaves, decaying plant matter, and other small plants can be found on the rainforest floor. (Lewis, 16). Each layer of the rainforest is a unique habitat, and animals from one layer rarely venture into another one. Mammals such as elephants, deer, and tiger dwell on the forest floor. Primates such as gibbons, howler monkeys, and chimpanzees dwell in trees. Other tree dwellers include sloth, squirrels, mice.
