Abstract Current practices in the operational level management of railway traffic network is mostly
based on predefined rules and on the ability of traffic controllers and train dispatchers to detect and
avoid conflicting situations. Delays caused by technical failures, fluctuation of passenger volumes, or
weather conditions can be partly absorbed by a stable and robust ... Show more content on

In addition to this project also designs a feedback controller that computes the most effective actions,
based on the measurements of the actual train positions. The control measures are restricted to
changing the order if running trains on the same track.

Programming, Waiting Time
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Model: Consider a periodic railway operations system that follows a schedule, in nominal
operation mode, assume that all the trains follow a pre scheduled route, with a fixed train order and
predefined connections. If for any of the reasons mentioned before delays are introduced in the
network, it might be advantageous to change the train order so as to minimize the delays.
1.2 Requirements Specification:
 In this project my main goal is to control the train accidents and also developed a system for trains
which allows minimum and maximum waiting times.
 The division head has control and timings by using the map.
 It also make the count of no. of trains entered into the station as well as individual platform.
 Train active status is also developed by selecting the associate train number and the motion also
developed.
1.3 Problem Statement: The problem statement concentrates on the data entry perspective and
expectations. It is the basic input to the software requirement and

Defense and Ariana Airlines, he was taught to speak English. He was also able to read and write
English well. Azin Nuri knew Wahidullah while at the University and was familiar with his flying

Whitbread World Sailboat Race Essay
University of Phoenix Terry Norris January 20, 2008 Project Plan for Whitbread World Sailboat Race
This paper analyzes the Whitbread World Sailboat Race case scenario presented in chapter 9 in the
Gray and Larson text, Project Management: the Managerial Process. The Whitbread World Sailboat
Race is a nine month round the world race. Bjorn Ericksen has been chosen by his country to head up
the project of getting a boat and a team ready for the race. The objectives of the project are to design,
build and test a new vessel and select and train a crew capable of winning the race. The objectives
must be completed within 45 weeks, the start of the race, and with a planned budget of $3.2 million.

Analyzing crash times and costs we see that if each activity were crashed the project could be finished
in 42 weeks, however, the budget would skyrocket to $4.952 million. Therefore, the team will need to
analyze the project network and its critical path to determine which individual activities can be
crashed while maintaining the integrity of the budget and the duration of the project. Plan to Reduce
Project Duration Initial projections show that the current schedule will take 50 weeks to finish with a
final budget estimate of $3.152 million. Although the project estimate comes in under budget, the time
frame for completion extends beyond the acceptable 45 weeks. Before deciding which activities
should be crashed, Bjorn and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s
priorities. To do this the team has first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project
priority matrix. Defining the project scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose
is to define as clearly as possible the deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2005). The
team has stated the project s objectives, defined deliverables, established milestones and technical
requirements, which help define the project s scope and establish priorities. With the imposed
deadline, completion of the project on time should be the project s top priority and thus becomes the

The Cause And Effects Of The Mini Ice Age
The mini ice age, or Little Ice Age (LIA), was a period of time characterized by a decrease in
temperatures worldwide. Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice
Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest
stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several
locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins
are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a
decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The
lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur
concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible
reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations
point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw
actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum
happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA.
Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation
(NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. Typical, or
positive NAO is shown when a

Male Gaze In Media
Male Gaze in Media
I have decided to introduce the issue of the male gaze in media. Male gaze being where everything is
done for the pleasure of male viewers (Mulvey, 1975) . This means that often women are sexually
objectified in the media. This issue is important because it affects how women view themselves. They
are being looked at while the men are doing the looking. Women view themselves as objects because
that is how they are portrayed in the media. Another reason why this issue is important is because it
creates unrealistic goals for little girls. Little girls should be empowered but they are not. A third
reason why this issue is important is because the male gaze is everywhere. This is a serious problem
because it happens in films, tv shows, halftime Super Bowl commercials, regular tv commercials, and
basically anything that is media related. All these reasons just cause women to view themselves in a
negative way. They know they cannot reach these unrealistic goals. The two changes that need to be
made in order to fix this issue is to allow more women in the filming industry and for males to stop
depicting everything for male viewers when female viewers exist too. Women should be encouraged
to direct movies or tv shows. This is why Wonder Woman became so popular. The director was a
female and did not give the male gaze. Women and little girls were refreshed to not see another
superhero movie through the male gaze. Women should be encouraged to conquer male dominated

Red Cloud Research Paper
Red Cloud was born around 1820 near the forks of the Platte River, near the present day city of North
Platte, Nebraska. His parents were Lone Man, and Walks as She Thinks. When asked about his name,
he said it was a family name. Red Cloud s parents died when he was around the age of five or so.
After the death of his parents, Red Cloud went to live with his maternal uncle, Old Chief Smoke, who
raised him with the knowledge and skills needed to provide for his family and to defend the Lakota
homeland. Red Cloud would prove himself to be a capable warrior and leader of his people, in a series
of battles with their enemies, the Pawnee and the Crow. Gold was discovered in the area around
Bannack and Alder Gulch in Montana. Virginia City would soon become a boomtown, attracting
miners and setters to the region. Travelers coming from the east would pass through Lakota territory.

The world consists of so many different types of religions, and every religion has its own objectives,

prominent religions in the western civilization. From their origins to life rituals, they have a great
amount of similarities and differences between these three prominent religions.

Prayer is the means by which Christians communicate with their God. The New Testament says that
Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and that he wanted them to refer God as Father. Christians still
continue this tradition. After Jesus, the spreading of the religion was largely due to the work of a
converted Jew, Paul or Saint Paul. Through the writings and teachings of Paul, Christianity began to
set apart itself from Judaism. The new religion adapted many of the forms of worship of the older
Judaism. The Bible, composed of both the Old Testament and the New Testament, is the sacred book
of Christianity. Christianity remains to be and will always be one of the world s largest religion. Most
Christians attend worship services at church on Sundays, which basically includes singing, prayer and
a sermon. Most Christian churches have a special ritual for ordination, or having a person fit for a
leadership position in the church. At home, most practicing Christians pray regularly and many read
the Bible. Christians soon also developed two primary sacraments, or sacred ceremonies: baptism and
the Lord s Supper. Baptism is a religious ceremony in which a person is dipped in water as a sign of
being cleansed of sin. The Last Supper is a remembering Christ s last meal with his disciples before he
died. Another practice Christians do is fasting, in which they don t eat or drink for a determined
period. Christian celebrates Christmas from Dec 25

Campus Molds Advantages And Disadvantages
Moving in as a freshman is great. You are excited, everyone helps you move in, and it goes by fast.
Moving out after freshman year is another story. The move out process is tiring, no one helps you, and
it takes forever. The young men who started Campus Crates felt these same feelings for move in and
move out of college. Their solution to the problem was creating a moving and storage company that
caters to college students. Campus Crates was started by two students both named Ryan after their
freshman year of college at Baylor University. The company became an LLC in 2016 and started
moving students that summer (Leland, 2016). Campus Crates goal is to make the lives of parents and
students easier by relieving the inconvenience and expense of moving to and from college. Campus
Crates is an on demand storage service that only requires you to register, pay, schedule a time for
boxes to be dropped off, and then pack the boxes at your own convenience. Then they will pick up
your belongings, store it in a secure facility, and then return your belongings to your new residence
(Mycampuscrates.com, 2017). Although Campus Crates was established in 2016, their concept has
proven to be successful.
Strengths
There are no other companies near the Baylor area that offer what Campus Crates offers. This fact
allows Campus Crates to have a competitive advantage over other storage companies. Campus Crates
is the only company that delivers packing supplies, picks up packed boxes, stores boxes

When I am a new employee, I am slightly hesitant to try new things. Before even trying, I expect to
fail at whatever I am trying for the first time. Then I worry about the consequences of my imaginary
actions. Yet once I have tried something new and fail, I realized that I am more likely to remember
what I learned. I use this as one of my strengths. When learning to drive a car, I was hesitant to take
the hands on approach right away. Once I realized that this is how I learn, once I spend time out of my
head and contracting one what could go wrong, I am a hands on learner. To this day, I am still learning
that mistakes come in all different shapes and sizes. For example, if I print out something for work

aware to make that mistake same again. Mistakes are a natural part of life, making them helps me
know better for the next time. Before going to an interview, I try to prepare myself the best I can by

Importance Of Indigenous Languages
Language is one of the most significant developments of humans. It is one of the few means of
communications which enclose a large number of beliefs, values and it is provided paths to see the
world in different perceptive. The languages are thought to be in danger when people do not speak
their native languages or mother tongue in foreign countries. Mother tongue is a child s first language
and it can be learned since birth. This mother language cannot be used often in foreign countries. As a
result, significant numbers of languages are ceasing to pass from one generation to another. Cultural

There are many minority languages which show their worth by representing their value regarding

My Leadership And The Army s Leadership
I spent a number of years at 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), based in Stuttgart,
Germany. I grew up in the unit, learning as I went and increasing my responsibilities as I gained rank.
Sometimes I had a Soldier or two for whom I was responsible. I mentored them, guided their
activities, and pushed them to become better leaders. Then there were other periods where I wasn t
necessarily responsible for troops. My leadership development took the form of mission management
and initiative, unit training, or independent project development. I also began to notice the importance
of organizational leadership and perspective. By the time I left the unit as a Staff Sergeant, having also
undergone significant personal growth and maturing, I came to see leadership not so much as a set of
tools to get things done, but an attitude or a mindset that must maintain.
In my current assignment, it is my responsibility to project and promote the Army s leadership values
every day. This role has significantly informed my more polished leadership philosophy in the last
year. What I have found is that when I approach my work with the right mindset and regard myself as
a leader in every moment, the actual tasks of any mission are simply accomplished at, or usually
above, the standard. It is the most important elements of that mindset that I seek to discuss here:
professionalism, trust, and service.
To be a professional is to first recognize your work as a profession. This means

Johnny Cash Hurt Song Analysis
Johnny Cash was an influential musician throughout his lifetime, but it was before his career came to
an end that he covered a heart wrenching song called Hurt. Cash s physical health became more of an
issue in the late 1990s. He was diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease Shy Drager syndrome a
misdiagnosis that was later corrected to autonomic neuropathy and was hospitalized for pneumonia in
1998. Still, the artist continued making music. In 2002, he released a billboard hit, Hurt caught the
emotions of many people before the passing of Cash. The video captures the essence of the song
perfectly: Cash s life explored with flashbacks of the past and images of his present self in 2002. The

The song was first introduced to the world in 1994 and it spoke primarily of self loathing, self harm,

Hendersonville, Tennessee. Cash wore no makeup, and there was no attempt to make him look
younger or more vibrant through lighting or other effects. This was interspersed with footage of Cash
in his younger days. The video appeared to be Cash s obituary, as he was in failing health after a life
filled with drug abuse. The video was very emotional and drew a lot of media attention. Cash has a
tone of redemption; he is a man that is at the end of his life that is sending out a message to make life

Dawn has created a loyal fan base since its introduction in 1973. Dawn marketers utilized several
marketing techniques such as brand equity and positioning to remain the leader of dish soap sales.
Dawn has built brand equity by using the original Dawn to spring board their new products such as the

consumers mind. A more detailed definition comes from the AIU textbook entitled Marketing
Management which states, Positioning is the act of designing the company s offering and image to

Terri has a better understanding of why she feels Dawn is the only dishwashing liquid she will use.

An Analysis of Solipsism in Kant s Critique of Pure Reason
My goal is to examine solipsism and discover how Immanuel Kant s Transcendental Idealism could be
subject to a charge of being solipsistic. Following this, I will briefly review the destructive impact this
charge would have on certain of Kant s positions. After the case for solipsism is made, I intend to
describe a possible line of rebuttal from Kant s perspective that could be made to the charge.
The issue of solipsism is intriguing in that it seems to be universally rejected as a basis of
metaphysics. Yet, the modern tradition has had difficulty supporting this rejection. Antony Flew
defines solipsism as, The theory that I am the sole existent. To be a solipsist I ... Show more content

Thereafter, the modern tradition was challenged to prove the existence of an external world and the
existence of other minds. Once we concede...that the immediate objects of sense experience are mind
dependent (ideas, impressions, sense data, etc.), it is indeed questionable whether we can argue validly
to the existence or nature of a mind independent external world. (Flew: 330)
Within the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant affirms that our capacity to perceive objects in the external
world is dependent upon the subject s imposition of certain conditions of the possibility of experience.
Time, space and the categories are among these. Thus, human beings are capable of viewing only the
appearance and not things as they are in themselves.
Now a thing in itself cannot be known through mere relations; and we may therefore conclude that
since outer sense gives us nothing but mere relations, this sense can contain in its representation only
the relation of an object to the subject, and not the inner properties of the object in itself. This also
holds true of inner sense, not only because the representations of the outer senses constitute the proper
material with which we occupy our mind, but because the time in which we set these representations,
which is itself antecedent to the consciousness of them in experience, and which underlies them as the
formal condition of the mode in which we posit them in the

Advantages Of Measuring Body Fat
A common goal for anyone who goes for the first time in a gym is to give body fat a proper send off.
Body fat is the fat that you can see in the mirror. Once you get rid of unwanted fat, you will be able to
see more cuts . On the other hand, the higher it is, the more fat is covering your muscles. Therefore, if
you want to see more cuts , you need to shrink the layer of fat which is under your skin and covers
your muscles.
How can you determine the body fat percentage?
One of the most accurate and efficient way to determine this aspect is with a caliper. These products
are designed to clip the fat and measure it under the skin. There are multiple pinch tests, but it s

Autogenics Research Paper
Currently we live in a society where our Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS) is overworked and
consistently stressed. There are some solutions to help us reverse the stress and get our Para
Sympathetic Nervous System (PSNS) activated when we need to recover. Two such methods are
autogenics and biogenics. These methods are very similar but biogenics uses devices and technology
to achieve the goal of relaxation. Autogenic Therapy, was initially created by the German Neuro
Psychiatrist Dr. Johannes Schultz in the 1920 s and it was subsequently shared with the medical
establishment. Over the next few decades Schultz and his associate, Dr. Wolfgang Luther dedicated
their combined energy over the next few decades, to fine tune Autogenics into the useful ... Show

questions to evaluate my responses: What were your first impressions when completing the audio
session of Autogenic training? Did this exercise make you more aware of slight changes in warmth
and heaviness in the body? I found the CD relaxing initially I didn t feel any changes in the warmth or
heaviness in my body. However, by the third session I was able to distinguish a subtle difference in
my limbs that was like a bit a tingling. I am still working at trying to apply the method to everyday
situations. The workbook questions asks me to compare autogenics to other forms of relaxation I have
tried. In another class I learned about meditation and I have been trying to use it fairly often. The
difference between the meditation I used and autogenics is the guidance that the sequence gives you.
Autogenics makes you more aware of your body and it s functions. My mediation is done to music

Contributions Of George Orwell
Orwell s Life:
On June 25th, 1903 Orwell was born in eastern India under the name Eric Arthur Blair. He went to
school in England then moved to Burma, which at the time was a British colony. He joined the Indian
Imperial Police and worked there until his resignation in 1927 when he decided to become a writer. He
moved to Paris where lack of success as a writer forced him into a series of menial jobs (BBC). He
took on the name George Orwell shortly before his first book Down and Out in Paris and London was
published. Orwell considered himself a socialist and briefly fought in Spain against Franco s
Nationalists before fleeing for his life. He wrote propaganda for the BBC from 1941 1943 and in 1945
he published Animal Farm which brought his name to fame. In 1949 the now classic 1984 was
published and the following year on January 21st 1950 he passed away from tuberculosis.
Orwell s Work:
Most of Orwell s work was inspired at least in part by life events and his personal political views. He
used his experiences in poor areas of London and the slums of Paris as the base for his written work
Down and Out in Paris and London. He altered some of his actual experiences into a work of fiction
that would be more interesting to read than simply telling his story. Orwell s later works often
contained his political opinions, which he did not masterfully incorporate until he wrote Animal Farm.

Monster Culture Analysis
American Sniper portrays the most lethal United States Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle during his four tours
in Iraq. The audience becomes aware of the disturbing scenes that happen during war combat. It
becomes evident that war forces American soldiers must put their lives on the line in order to protect
the American identity. American citizens should become more aware of what is occurring overseas,
and appreciate the soldiers who are protecting our country. A significant scene is when Chris Kyle and
his platoon is in the sneak attack battle, it is an eye opening moment that shows what is evolved in
protecting our country. This source relates to Monster Culture theses five by Cohen in the sense we
have to put up borders in order to protect our society (page 7). Chris Kyle and the military are acting

themselves to other groups, and find ways they are superior to the other groups. Berreby relates to

Cohen also believes that one identity will always see ways a certain identity is superior to another

Thanatopsis And Emerson s View On Nature
There are many different views of nature presented in the two poems and Emerson s article Nature.
Thanatopsis and Nature share their viewpoint on the beauty of nature. While The Subalterns has the
opposite view of the other two pieces of what nature really is. Nature , Thanatopsis , and The
Subalterns are very different pieces; Thanatopsis and Nature view nature as a beautiful paradise, while
The Subalterns looks at nature as a dismal prison. Thanatopsis and The Subalterns although similar in
structure are different in view. Thanatopsis views nature as a beautiful, serene place that sings to a
person. Bryant says that nature has a voice of gladness (Bryant, line 4). He says that it sings, Into his
darker musings, with a mild and healing sympathy (Bryant, lines 6 7). Bryant says that nature is

meanings of nature. Emerson thinks nature is beautiful and elegant. He describes nature as poetical.
When we speak of nature in this manner, we have a distinct but most poetical sense in mind (Emerson,
Page 897). He also describes how nature touches a child. The sun illuminates only the eye of the man,
but shines into the heart of a child (Emerson, Page 898). Bryant also discusses nature as a beautiful
and elegant part of life. She has a voice of gladness, and a smile and eloquence of beauty (Bryant,
lines 4 5) Bryant describes nature as majestic also. The venerable woods rivers that move in majesty
(Bryant, Lines 41 42). Both of the authors describe nature as a beautiful, peaceful part of life. The

Mercury s surface is covered with impact craters, basaltic rock and smooth plains, many a
consequence of volcanic floods and pyroclastic deposits. Other important features of Mercury include
vents which seem to be the cause of magma carved valleys. They are often grouped togther in
irregular shaped depressions called hollows that are believed to be the aftermath of collapsed magma

Summary Of Dr. Heidegger s Experiment By Nathaniel Hawthorne
People like to reflect on the past. Some enjoy it, and take pleasure in what they had accomplished and
done. Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in both cases, some may
long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again where it was perfect in their
eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these instances is the four old friends
from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The four, Mr. Medbourne,
Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly, all had terrible pasts, and had extreme desire
to go back in time to fix it, which they almost did. The four want to change their past, and this brings
about the theme of it is impossible to change it. When the four enter the Doctor s house, they are
introduced to the reader as, They were all melancholy old creatures, who had been unfortunate in life,
and whose greatest misfortune it was that they were not long ago in their graves. Through this quote
Hawthorne is pointing out they were all failures in life. They all wished they were dead, their lives so
wasted and dreary. This shows their longing to change their past. They had been unfortunate in life,
and the fact they wanted to take the elixir to be young again shows they want to fix that. The narrator
also points out, And, before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

past, the theme could get across that you cannot change it. Hawthorne used the failures and longing of
his characters to get across a deeper message, and without that longing of the characters his point may

The Tyger Tone
I wondered this lonely cloud
T: The poem s title suggests a close relationship with nature and that this poem is about someone
without company. P
P: The speaker compares himself to a cloud that floats alone over the hills when he sees a lot of
daffodils in the field. The speaker tells the audience that now whenever he is alone in his study
thinking, he thinks back to the daffodils and the waves and he feels glad.
C: This poem has multiple examples of metaphor and simile, one even appearing in the title. To be
compared to a cloud can imply that you are gloomy, a lone grey storm cloud ready to rain.

Viola s Identity In The Literary Works Of The Seventeenth...
This work was written in the seventeenth century where the upper class was still the class who
dominated education and had the leisure time to read for pleasure. Because of this, we see how they
are the ones being portrayed in the literary works of the time. It is to appeal to the people who buy and
read the books. A commoner will not have the time to read for they will be working. Commoners also
did not have the same level of education as the wealthy and therefore could not actually read very well
if at all. Viola was also forced to change her identity as women of the time had no power or social
status. Women were seen as nothing more than tangible objects to men and so it was better if they
were seen and not hears. Viola became Cesario in

The Value At Risk Management
Most people who have invested or are considering investing in any financial asset, ask at some point
in time the following question: What is the most I can loose on my investment? The Value at Risk,
commonly known as VaR, tries to answer this question within a reasonable bound. VaR is used in
financial mathematics and financial risk management as a risk management tool to measure the risk of
loss of an individual asset or a whole portfolio. Although it provides a good sense of risk one is
undertaking, it shouldn t be an alternative method to risk adjusted value and or other probabilistic
approaches. In the following lines, we first give a general description of the VaR and the story behind
its development and its applications. We then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Financial institutions, mostly commercials and investments banks, use the VAR to gauge the amount
of cash they should hold in their reserve in order to be able to cover the potential loss. Although the
term Value at risk has not been used till the1990s, the origins of its measure lie further back in time.
The arithmetic behind the VaR were developed by Harry Markowitz (1952) in his studies of effects of
asset risk, return, correlation, and diversification on probable investment portfolio returns which
contributed to the modern portfolio theory. In fact, the trigger of the use of VaR came from the crisis
that tormented the financial market and the regulatory responses to these crises. After the great
depression of 1929, the Securities Exchange Act established in 1934 the Security Exchange
Commission (SEC), a federal government agency in charge of regulating stocks and options
exchanges. Since the SEC initially required banks to keep their borrowing below 2000% of their
equity capital, Banks developed risk measures and control devices to ensure that they meet the capital
requirements. In the 1970, the introduction of financial derivatives markets and floating rate
exchanges have significantly increased the volatility, which is the risk, in the financial markets. The
latter was confirmed by the failure in 1995 of Barings, the British investment bank, by the
unauthorized trading in Nikkei (Japan s stock

Diary Of Anne Frank Diary Analysis
The Diary of Anne Frank is story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being
persecuted from the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing that
was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led
to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken
back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that
remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mind of a
teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental
illness.
Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and worrying
about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good enough for them
or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care free to being young
and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was the day that her youth and
innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that because at the end of the day, she
could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a
diary that her father gave her to help cope with what was happening around her. She hardly had any
peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay hiding for long. She

The Whitbread World Sailboat Race is a nine month round the world race. Bjorn Ericksen has been chosen by his country to head up the project of getting a boat and a team ready for the race. Analyzing crash times and costs we see that if each activity were crashed the project could be finished in 42 weeks, however, the budget would skyrocket to $4.952 million. Therefore, the team will need to analyze the project network and its critical path to determine which individual activities can be crashed while maintaining the integrity of the budget and the duration of the project. Plan to Reduce Project Duration Initial projections show that the current schedule will take 50 weeks to finish with a final budget estimate of $3.152 million. Although the project estimate comes in under budget, the time frame for completion extends beyond the acceptable 45 weeks. Before deciding which activities should be crashed, Bjorn and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s priorities. To do this the team has first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project priority matrix. Defining the project scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose is to define as clearly as possible the deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2005). The team has stated the project s objectives, defined deliverables, established milestones and technical requirements, which help define the project s scope and establish priorities. With the imposed deadline, completion of the project on time should be the project s top priority and thus becomes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Cause And Effects Of The Mini Ice Age The mini ice age, or Little Ice Age (LIA), was a period of time characterized by a decrease in temperatures worldwide. Although there are no definite times for the start and end of the Little Ice Age, it is generally accepted that it occurred from approximately 1300 CE to 1850 CE. The coldest stage of this time lasted from around 1645 to 1715. Also, the expansion of mountain glaciers in several locations was a distinctive feature of the Little Ice Age. The event had various effects and its origins are disputable. Several causes of the Little Ice Age have been proposed. One of them describes a decrease in sunspot activity, or times when dark spots form on the sun due to low temperatures. The lack of sunspots during the LIA is known as the Maunder Minimum. Since it appeared to occur concurrently with the coldest part of the ice age, from 1645 to 1715, it was considered a plausible reason to explain the Little Ice Age. However, this theory has its flaws, because modeled simulations point to the idea that temperatures would ve dropped to a maximum of 0.4ºC, when the world saw actual decreases of 1 2ºC. Furthermore, the Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum happened, so additional information is needed to explain the original cause of the LIA. Another idea for the catalyst of the Little Ice Age involves the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), a circulation of atmospheric pressure in North America and northern Europe. Typical, or positive NAO is shown when a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Male Gaze In Media Male Gaze in Media I have decided to introduce the issue of the male gaze in media. Male gaze being where everything is done for the pleasure of male viewers (Mulvey, 1975) . This means that often women are sexually objectified in the media. This issue is important because it affects how women view themselves. They are being looked at while the men are doing the looking. Women view themselves as objects because that is how they are portrayed in the media. Another reason why this issue is important is because it creates unrealistic goals for little girls. Little girls should be empowered but they are not. A third reason why this issue is important is because the male gaze is everywhere. This is a serious problem because it happens in films, tv shows, halftime Super Bowl commercials, regular tv commercials, and basically anything that is media related. All these reasons just cause women to view themselves in a negative way. They know they cannot reach these unrealistic goals. The two changes that need to be made in order to fix this issue is to allow more women in the filming industry and for males to stop depicting everything for male viewers when female viewers exist too. Women should be encouraged to direct movies or tv shows. This is why Wonder Woman became so popular. The director was a female and did not give the male gaze. Women and little girls were refreshed to not see another superhero movie through the male gaze. Women should be encouraged to conquer male dominated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prayer is the means by which Christians communicate with their God. The New Testament says that Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and that he wanted them to refer God as Father. Christians still continue this tradition. After Jesus, the spreading of the religion was largely due to the work of a converted Jew, Paul or Saint Paul. Through the writings and teachings of Paul, Christianity began to set apart itself from Judaism. The new religion adapted many of the forms of worship of the older Judaism. The Bible, composed of both the Old Testament and the New Testament, is the sacred book of Christianity. Christianity remains to be and will always be one of the world s largest religion. Most Christians attend worship services at church on Sundays, which basically includes singing, prayer and a sermon. Most Christian churches have a special ritual for ordination, or having a person fit for a leadership position in the church. At home, most practicing Christians pray regularly and many read the Bible. Christians soon also developed two primary sacraments, or sacred ceremonies: baptism and the Lord s Supper. Baptism is a religious ceremony in which a person is dipped in water as a sign of being cleansed of sin. The Last Supper is a remembering Christ s last meal with his disciples before he died. • 11. Campus Molds Advantages And Disadvantages Moving in as a freshman is great. You are excited, everyone helps you move in, and it goes by fast. Moving out after freshman year is another story. The move out process is tiring, no one helps you, and it takes forever. The young men who started Campus Crates felt these same feelings for move in and move out of college. Their solution to the problem was creating a moving and storage company that caters to college students. Campus Crates was started by two students both named Ryan after their freshman year of college at Baylor University. The company became an LLC in 2016 and started moving students that summer (Leland, 2016). Campus Crates goal is to make the lives of parents and students easier by relieving the inconvenience and expense of moving to and from college. Then they will pick up your belongings, store it in a secure facility, and then return your belongings to your new residence (Mycampuscrates.com, 2017). Although Campus Crates was established in 2016, their concept has proven to be successful. Strengths There are no other companies near the Baylor area that offer what Campus Crates offers. This fact allows Campus Crates to have a competitive advantage over other storage companies. Campus Crates is the only company that delivers packing supplies, picks up packed boxes, stores boxes ... • 15. My Leadership And The Army s Leadership I spent a number of years at 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), based in Stuttgart, Germany. I grew up in the unit, learning as I went and increasing my responsibilities as I gained rank. Sometimes I had a Soldier or two for whom I was responsible. I mentored them, guided their activities, and pushed them to become better leaders. Then there were other periods where I wasn t necessarily responsible for troops. My leadership development took the form of mission management and initiative, unit training, or independent project development. I also began to notice the importance of organizational leadership and perspective. By the time I left the unit as a Staff Sergeant, having also undergone significant personal growth and maturing, I came to see leadership not so much as a set of tools to get things done, but an attitude or a mindset that must maintain. In my current assignment, it is my responsibility to project and promote the Army s leadership values every day. This role has significantly informed my more polished leadership philosophy in the last year. What I have found is that when I approach my work with the right mindset and regard myself as a leader in every moment, the actual tasks of any mission are simply accomplished at, or usually above, the standard. It is the most important elements of that mindset that I seek to discuss here: professionalism, trust, and service. To be a professional is to first recognize your work as a profession. An Analysis of Solipsism in Kant s Critique of Pure Reason My goal is to examine solipsism and discover how Immanuel Kant s Transcendental Idealism could be subject to a charge of being solipsistic. Following this, I will briefly review the destructive impact this charge would have on certain of Kant s positions. After the case for solipsism is made, I intend to describe a possible line of rebuttal from Kant s perspective that could be made to the charge. The issue of solipsism is intriguing in that it seems to be universally rejected as a basis of metaphysics. Yet, the modern tradition has had difficulty supporting this rejection. Once we concede...that the immediate objects of sense experience are mind dependent (ideas, impressions, sense data, etc.), it is indeed questionable whether we can argue validly to the existence or nature of a mind independent external world. (Flew: 330) Within the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant affirms that our capacity to perceive objects in the external world is dependent upon the subject s imposition of certain conditions of the possibility of experience. Time, space and the categories are among these. Thus, human beings are capable of viewing only the appearance and not things as they are in themselves. Now a thing in itself cannot be known through mere relations; and we may therefore conclude that since outer sense gives us nothing but mere relations, this sense can contain in its representation only the relation of an object to the subject, and not the inner properties of the object in itself. This also holds true of inner sense, not only because the representations of the outer senses constitute the proper material with which we occupy our mind, but because the time in which we set these representations, which is itself antecedent to the consciousness of them in experience, and which underlies them as the formal condition of the mode in which we posit them in the ... Others look back in misery, and wish they could change it. However, in both cases, some may long for it to come back. This may be because they want to be there again where it was perfect in their eyes, or to change it, because their past is full of regret. One of these instances is the four old friends from the short story Dr. Heidegger s Experiment by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The four, Mr. Medbourne, Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherly, all had terrible pasts, and had extreme desire to go back in time to fix it, which they almost did. The four want to change their past, and this brings about the theme of it is impossible to change it. When the four enter the Doctor s house, they are introduced to the reader as, They were all melancholy old creatures, who had been unfortunate in life, and whose greatest misfortune it was that they were not long ago in their graves. Through this quote Hawthorne is pointing out they were all failures in life. They all wished they were dead, their lives so wasted and dreary. This shows their longing to change their past. The arithmetic behind the VaR were developed by Harry Markowitz (1952) in his studies of effects of asset risk, return, correlation, and diversification on probable investment portfolio returns which contributed to the modern portfolio theory.
