Ecuador has tremendous natural wealth and biodiversity due to its variety of ecosystems, which include tropical rainforests, rivers, and biosphere reserves. It is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world, containing a great variety of plant and animal life. The Yasuní Biosphere Reserve in particular contains exceptionally high levels of genetic diversity and is home to indigenous groups like the Waorani and Kichwa people.

Climate change is directly impacting human health through increased heat waves and temperatures that cause higher mortality, especially among vulnerable groups like the elderly. It also threatens health indirectly by affecting the spread of pathogens, pollutants, and allergens. Additional impacts of climate change include changes to water resources and quality, effects on agriculture like reduced crop yields and increased irrigation needs, coastal erosion and flooding, shifts in forest composition and health, and loss of habitats and species through melting glaciers.

1) Without trees to hold the soil, erosion increases, causing soil to wash into rivers which turns the water chalky.

Overgrazing has more than doubled livestock populations and eroded nearly half of rangelands. Biodiversity is highest in coastal areas like coral reefs and estuaries due to more primary producers and habitats. Aquatic biodiversity faces threats from habitat loss, invasive species, pollution, climate change, and overfishing. Invasive species have invaded 84% of coastal waters and cause 2/3 of fish extinctions. By 2020, 80% of the world's population will live in coastal cities. Only 4% of the world's oceans are unaffected by pollution which comes mainly from land activities. Overfishing depletes populations quickly and the area of ocean needed to sustain current fish consumption is 157% of what is available, putting many marine species at risk of extinction.

Biodiversity is highest in coastal areas like coral reefs and estuaries due to more primary producers and habitats. Invasive species have invaded 84% of coastal waters and cause 2/3 of fish extinctions. By 2020, 80% of the world's population will live in coastal cities. Only 4% of the world's oceans are unaffected by pollution which comes mainly from land activities. Overfishing depletes populations quickly and the area of ocean needed to sustain current fish consumption is 157% of what is available, putting many marine species at risk of extinction.

- Deforestation is the removal of trees and conversion of forested land to non-forest uses like agriculture. It has negative environmental impacts like increased carbon emissions, soil erosion, and wildlife loss.
- Pakistan has experienced high rates of deforestation due to activities like logging, farming, and development. This has reduced forest coverage to only 4.6 million hectares.

The 1992 United Nations Earth Summit in Rio De Janeiro defined biodiversity as “the variability among living organisms from all sources among other things, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems. It is also explained as the variety of life; the different plants, animals and micro-organisms, their genes and the ecosystem of which they are a part.
Biodiversity in Ghana has within the three main bio-geographic zones. So far about 2,974 indigenous plant species, 204 fishes, 728 birds, 225 mammals, 221 species of amphibians and reptiles have been recorded. The species of frogs, 1 lizard and 23 species of butterflies have been reported to be endemic. Animals found in Ghana been grouped as follows: mammals and primate, reptiles and amphibians, aquatic and marine, wetland birds, forest zone birds, savanna zone birds, insects and spiders.
