This document discusses key concepts from ecology that can be applied to understanding learning and designing learning environments. It describes learning as occurring within a complex system or "ecosystem" involving interactions between the learner, other learners, and environmental factors. Learning is framed as an adaptive process where learners and systems mutually adjust to better fit their environments. Ecological principles are argued to be well-suited for conceptualizing autonomous learning within self-organizing knowledge ecosystems.
This is the paper that wrote for my venia legendi in Tallinn University. The paper is summarizing the an Ecological learning design approach on what i have been working recent years.

Our paper discusses the niche technologies that have and possibly will contribute to the future e-textbooks as a new socio-technical regime. We propose the conceptual map of textbook functionalities aiming at opening the conceptual discussion for brainstorming and finding scenarios how the niche technologies that explored novel textbook applications in learning might be best combined into the new “artifact ecosystems” regime. Jointly with workshop participants we aim to come up with metaphors and concepts depicting learning in this regime.

Abstract: Web 2.0 tools have emerged as conducive for innovative pedagogy and transformative learning opportunities for youth. Currently, Web 2.0 is often adopted into teachers’ practice to simply replace or amplify traditional instructional approaches rather than promote or facilitate transformative educational change. Current models of innovation adoption do not adequately address successful diffusion of transformative educational technology. A new interactional model, called a framework-for-action (FFA), repositions ‘success’ on qualitative criteria and necessitates timely intervention by change agents at ‘points of factor interaction’ in the change process. These interventions engage potential adopters (i.e., teachers) in meaningful learning opportunities that reposition individuals or groups to make decisions leading to adoption of technologies that support transformative learning and teaching with web 2.0 tools.

Learner Ontological Model for Intelligent Virtual Collaborative Learning Envi...ijceronline
An enacting approach to intelligent virtual collaborative learning model is explored through the lens of critical ontology. This ontological model enables to reuse of the domain knowledge and to make the knowledge explicitly available to the agent working as an Expert System, which uses the operational knowledge in collaborative learning environment. This ontological model used by the agent to identify the preliminary competency level of the user. This environment offers personalized education to each learner in accordance with his/her learning preferences, and learning capabilities. Here the factors considered to identify the learning capability taken are demographic profile, age, family profile, basic educational qualification and basic competency scale. The conception of heuristics is then used by the agent to determine the effectiveness of the learner by referring the different parameters of the learner available in the ontological model.To help getting over this, the paper describes the experience on using an ontological model for collaborative learning to relate and integrate the history of the learner by maintaining the history of learner in collaborative learning environment that will be used by the Multi-Objective Grey Situation Decision Making Theory to infer the understanding level of user and produces the conditional content to the user

This workshop asks how we can use methods drawn from design, art, and craft, informed by
interdisciplinary and systems thinking, to materialize not just envisioned ‘things’, but abstract or
invisible ideas and relationships. There is an emerging set of research practices using tangible or
material models, or constructive making and embodying to visualize how people think about concepts
ranging from invisible systems and infrastructures to mental models, personal data which would
otherwise be invisible, or even the phenomenological dimensions of experiences themselves. Examples
include explorations of the design of public services, healthcare processes, mental health experiences,
career paths, crafters’ movements, and experiences of social networks (Aguirre Ulloa and Paulsen,
2017; Rygh and Clatworthy, 2019; Luria et al, 2019; Ricketts and Lockton, 2019; Nissen and Bowers,
2015; Fass, 2016).
