This 3-day workshop provides an introduction to conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Experienced tutors will provide practical guidance on all stages of the systematic review process. The workshop is suitable for clinicians, academics, and students from all healthcare backgrounds, regardless of prior experience. It will use lectures, discussions, and hands-on sessions with RevMan software to cover topics such as developing review protocols and search strategies, assessing risk of bias, extracting and analyzing data, interpreting results, and publishing reviews.

their

publishable
systematic
reviews.

this
is
an
introductory
course,
no
previous
knowledge
of
systematic
review
is
required.

Elaine
Beller
is
an
Editor
to
the
Cochrane
Acute
Respiratory
Infections
Group,
an
Associate
Professor
(Biostatistics)
at
Bond
University,
and
is
biostatistician
to
some
of
Australia’s
largest
randomised
clinical
trials.
Her
therapeutic
areas
include
renal,
diabetes,
cardiology,
cancer,
and
general
practice.
She
has
worked
for
the
Clinical
Trials
Centre
of
the
University
of
Queensland
and
the
National
Health
Medical
Research
Council,
University
of
Sydney.
Elaine
worked
with
the
UK
Cochrane
Centre
on
redeveloping
their
systematic
review
workshops
and
online
materials.
She
has
designed
and
taught
courses
in
trials
design
and
analysis,
research
methods
and
evidence-­‐based
practice.
Elaine's
current
interests
include
research
on
methodology
in
making
systematic
reviews
more
usable
to
readers,
improving
quality
of
research
reporting,
and
in
increasing
applicability
of
clinical
trial
results.
A
combination
of
lectures,
small
group
discussions
and
practical
sessions
using
RevMan
will
be
used.
RevMan
is
the
software
used
for
preparing
and
maintaining
Cochrane
Reviews.
