Internal And External Factors Management
Because of changes in work which can be caused by internal and external factors management
needs to plan and have flexible approach to its planning processes by constantly adjusting to
shocks in its operations. The most important planning factor mentioned in this analysis should
consider the work changes over time which includes its nature of work, its flow and scheduling,
relationships among workers, technologies, policies and procedures, volumes of tasks, and types
of tasks. Changes in work can result from occurring events or changes in the pace of tasks or
services. Managers and directors of HIS Departments should be aware of their environment by
routinely and periodically assessing work and jobs for alignment with current processes.
Following this periodic assessment, managers and directors may have to use indicators of changes
in work to determine whether a change in strategy is required. In order for a manager to effectively
plan his change or improvement of strategy he has to watch out for the following indicator types:
sector changes, organizational changes, and employees perceptions. These indicators will assist the
manager to plan and implement effective strategy and operations.Job enrichment is defined as the
addition of new tasks at higher levels of skill, responsibility, and accountability.

Vlad The Impaler Research Paper
There have been a lot of rulers in the world that have been remembered for great achievements.
However, some rulers were terrible leaders and have been remembered for terrible things., Vlad
the Impaler was one of the leaders. His decisions about how to rule made history because of their
cruelty. Vlad the Impaler, who descended from Vlad ll Dracula had a unique personality, and
some choices of punishments that made history. Vlad the Impaler was descended from Vlad ll
Dracula. Vlad made history for how violent he was when he ruled Romania, and this partially
came from his relatives and father Vlad ll Dracula. It is believed that his father died violently
during war. His brother Mircea and younger brother, Radu also suffered untimely... Show more

Impalement was his most famous punishment and he tortured thousands of people with it.
Impalement was initiated by taking an oiled stake about as wide as a burly man s arm, and inserting
it through the victim s buttocks, often until it protruded from their mouths. (Alter Dimensions 9)
As if that wasn t enough Vlad made sure the oiled stake was not too sharp to make sure shock didn
t kill the victims. Set up around the castle were the bodies, and the smell was horrendous
throughout the castle. Vlad thought violence was the answer to misbehavior, so this is what he did.
However, Vlad had more choices of punishments throughout the castle... Reports indicate that
tortures included nails in the head, cutting off of limbs, strangulation, burning, cutting off of noses
and ears, mutilation of sexual organs, scalping, skinning, exposure to the elements or wild
animals, and boiling persons alive. (Alter Dimensions 12) Vlad was one of the most horrific
rulers of all time. Before victims ended up dying, Vlad made sure they stayed alive for hours, and
even days. As you ve read Vlad s punishments were very unique and definitely made history.
Vlad the Impaler, who descended from Vlad ll Dracula had a quite a different personality, and some
choices of punishments that definitely make us today feel very lucky with our rulers . Vlad was not
only remembered for his punishments, but one of the most evil rulers throughout

Cell Membrane And The Cell Body
Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The
cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out
from the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve
impulses. Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away
from the cell body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded
plasma membrane of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann
cell meets the next. The axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a
neuronand is responsible for maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron,
especially one in the central nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it.
Some of these release activating (depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory
(hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters.
An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to
maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to
sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged
proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess
of positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions
inside the neuron.

Brendan Behan’s The Quare Fellow and Samuel Beckett Essay
Brendan Behan s The Quare Fellow and Samuel Beckett Existential works are difficult to
describe because the definition of existentialism covers a wide range of ideas and influences
almost to the point of ambiguity. An easy, if not basic, approach to existentialism is to view it as
a culmination of attitudes from the oppressed people of industrialization, writers and
philosophers during the modern literary period, and people who were personally involved as
civilians, soldiers, or rebels during WWII and witnessed the worst aspects of life and war. These
attitudes combined the aspects of loss of identity and autonomy, the uselessness of pain, a sense of
alienation, and the meaninglessness of a harsh life where death is the only way... Show more content

Brendan Behan s play, The Quare Fellow, contains all the characteristics of an existential work
through the depiction the realistic portrayal of an Irish prison. Behan wastes no time in
expressing his disdain for the public s blind acceptance of the present state and motives of the
modern world. The setting of the play, an Irish prison, is a microcosm for the modern,
capitalistic society. In this context, the inmates represent ordinary citizens of society and the
warders, respectively, represent those who maintain power and order governments and
corporations. Behan s presented imagery is that of an inescapable world where no person is
actually free. There are always powers that people must follow and respect in order to survive in
such a society. The loss of autonomy and complete freedom is always the result, thus
perpetuating the stratification of power and the continued sacrifice of the masses; however, the
delusion of freedom is always present. Although Mickser is released from the prison, there seems
to be little hope in his future as he ll be back, inevitably, in prison (Behan 309). Mickser is a
physically free man, but with the world working against him, he will return to the place where
every decision is

How The Cloud Is A Time Consuming And Ultimately...
wanting to send folders and multiple documents this method can become time consuming and
ultimately inefficient. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only
compresses files to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is
using Google Drive, which in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do
not have a lot of experience with, so generally do not use it. This would be able to securely store
larger files. Since we cannot work on some files within the Google interface it would require the
file to be downloaded each time it needs to be updated on a different computer. This is one
disadvantage which is inefficient but as Google continues to develop more file types may be
editable reducing this problem. Personally I prefer the USB for larger files and transferring files in
general. However an issue at our school especially within the main computing room there are issues
with USB s connecting so whenever attempting to transfer data onto the school computer to work
on it there is an uncertainty whether it will successfully connect or not. The benefits as mentioned
above are the USB can transfer large files and load them quickly when USB is connected. An
example of this is when working on the internal assessments for digital media or digital information.
When working on these assignments there is often a main folder containing many sub folders with
multiple files contained within them. This type of data

Exploratory Research
Methods and Designs
Many of the research methods for which the research we have reviewed is classified as either
exploratory or constructive. Rape culture, victim blaming, and rape myths encompass more gray
areas (uncertainties) than mere black (wrong) and white (right) understandings. As few of the
studies specifically sought to gain insight in what is considered consent, therefore they exploratory
research wanting to purely define and identify the miscommunication and mixed opinions of
interpretations of consent, as they consider this to be a root to the problem of rape

A fair share of qualitative and quantitative research was conducted in an attempt to adequately
address the specific questions that were being asked. All of the research we reviewed used
primary data and chose not to utilize secondary data to conduct their experiments, however,
several of the studies references secondary data sources when speaking of historical backgrounds
of rape and in their discussions. The methods our group has chosen to pay particular interest to
are those that were used to gather data from participants at college campuses, as this is the
population we wish to further explore. Due to women of college age being at an increased risk for
sexual violence, several of the studies we found pursued out this population as well. A study
conducted at James Madison University gathered their findings from a participant pool at their
university using the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, the Modern and Old Fashion Sexism
Scale, and rape scenarios and questions in which they evaluating participants identification with
either the victim or the assailant (12p.242) This study was not alone in using the Illinois Rape
Myth Acceptance Scale as measure. In fact, of the research reviewed seven other studies utilized

Social Media And Electronic Communication
Communication
Electronic communication technologies influence the social development of adolescents in several
ways including interpersonal communication, and emphasized that interpersonal communications
are depersonalized because adolescent now conduct a higher proportion of communication
electronically rather than face to face or voice to voice. (Subrahmanyam greenfield, 2008). Any type
technology to communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social
networking sites, it deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and
voice dynamics (Cyr, Berman, Smith, 2014). Interpersonal relationship problems arise when
messages on either end are misunderstood (Erozkan, 2013).
When adolescents communicate face to face, it provides an adequate tone of voice, therefore the
message is more clearly, in contrast, when using social media, the reader may misinterpret the
message. Erozkan (2013) emphasized that without effective communication, a message can turn into
error, misunderstanding, or frustration. Communication is the basis of personal relationships and
effective communication happens when the message that is sent is the same message that is
received (Erozkan, 2013). This can cause differences in relationships as interactions face to face are
necessary. Although face to face interactions provides more meaning to relationships, adolescents
opt to use their electronic communication. Some adolescents might be more expressive

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Oral Communication
Section A
A1)
Communication is sharing our feelings, experiences, thoughts, suggestions, feedback and etc. So
usually before communicating with another person, we tend to think of how to speak, what to
speak, when to speak and which channel I should adopt to before communicating.
The sender is the person who sends the message. Let s take an example for this case; two people
are communicating between each other. The sender is Amy and the receiver is Pond. Amy will
send the message, which is the information she would like for Pond to know. She will then encode
her message, which is transforming her message which can be transformed into written words or
verbal communication. Then, Amy must choose a channel of communication which is also known
as the manner in which the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages for oral communication includes;
saves valuable time, saves cost, more powerful and effective, able to get immediate feedback and
correction of errors. The disadvantages of oral communication include; no record of what has been
spoken, probability of omitting the key point (main subject) and confused speech.
Oral communication saves time in cases of situation where an immediate action is required to be
taken. Also, if the management s work load is high, they d rather want to complete their tasks by
using oral instructions. When you are communicating verbally, you do not require any paper, pen,
stamp or a computer. Oral communications tend to persuade and control the people we are talking
to. Therefore, management often prefers to communicate to their staff by the means of oral
communication. Moving on to the fourth point, the speaker can get almost an immediate feedback
on whether the feedback is negative or positive for the speaker. This implies that the receiver
clearly understood what the speaker meant and gives a high possibility for

The Tragebility Of Othello In Act 1 Scene III
Othello s nobility is undisputable within the first few acts. In Act 1 Scene I Shakespeare
characterizes Othello indirectly through others opinions; Iago refers to Othello as an old black
ram , a Barbary horse and a devil , Roderigo similarly uses debasing imagery and language to
describe Othello: thicklips . The only information the audience has about Othelloat this time is the
vulgar description of a barbaric outsider from Roderigo and Iago; this is in sharp contrast to the
noble character we meet just one scene later. Othello in Act 1 Scene II is noble, calm and both
confident and humble. When he learns that Desdemona s father, Brabantio, is coming for revenge
his response is calm and confident:
Let him do his spite;
My services, which I have done the signiory,
Shall out tongue his complaints .
Iago urges Othello to leave as Brabantio approaches them; Othello refuses and stands his ground,
highlighting his confidence and his nobility:
Not I, I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul
Shall manifest me rightly
When violence is brewing between the characters in Act 1 Scene II Othello becomes the
peacemaker and shows his calm, rational side, appealing to Brabantio to cease the violence.
Keep up your bright swords, for the dew will rust them.
Good signior, you shall more command ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes rash decisions which he regrets afterwards when he does stop to think about it. He
dismisses Cassio after a drunken brawl without hearing the full story; only what Iago had to say
about it. This leads onto his next flaw, his preoccupation with reputation and his excessive pride;
when he makes a mistake, he is too proud to make amends. In my opinion I feel that his hamartia is
neither pride nor hot headedness; it is his insecurity. His insecurity is the key to Iago s manipulation
of him and ultimately results in the death of Desdemona, Emilia and Othello

Essay Examining the Irish Republican Army
Examining the Irish Republican Army Throughout history mass movements have contributed to
changing the face of the world. Some most notable are that of the Bolsheviks and the Nazis.
These movements and others like them have emerged as a result of the mistreatment of people, to
preserve a group of people or propagate an idea or view. No matter the reason behind the start of
the group, they all have one goal; the end result of every mass movement is to bring change. The
mass movement that will be discussed is the Irish Republican Army, otherwise known as the IRA.

Beyond that, the goal of the Irish Volunteers was to Secure and maintain the rights and liberties
common to the whole people of Ireland. In fact, this goal was similar, if not the same, only worded
differently to the Irish Republican Army. Beyond that, they were also established to enforce the
imminent Home Rule Devolution. Act. Now, these Volunteers were formed in response to the
formation of the Ulster Volunteer in 1913. The Ulster Volunteers were founded by Protestant
Unionists in the north. Indeed, their goal was to stop the enactment of the Home Rule Devolution.
Act. Incidentally, the Ulster Volunteers were mainly against the Irish Volunteers because they
consisted of Catholics that wanted to be independent from British rule. Meanwhile, the Ulster
Volunteers wanted to stay under British rule (Irish Volunteers).
In brief, the Irish Volunteers exist to help keep the liberties and rights common to all people of
Ireland by enforcing the Home Rule Devolution. Act that the Ulster Volunteers were fighting to
abolish. However, during the events of the Easter Rising, the Irish Volunteers were forced to
disband. After their end, Michael Collins and a few other remnants took up the mantle and
rebranded themselves the IRA. At first glance, it would seem as though the IRA only exists because
of the disbanding of the Irish Volunteers. What is more is that they were members of the Volunteers
continuing on their goals.

Success Is A True Success
Erykah Badu once quoted I planned success. I just knew it was going to happen. From her
statement, success is all about planning, and working hard to progress towards an ultimate goal.
How Ms. Badu was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for
success should be. If someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by
doing their best, successit theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are
people, many people measure their success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success
as being that which is attained as one sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that
changes as our stations in life change. In today s culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us
into a false perception of success. People with expensive handbags, cars, or jewelry are
automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs that hold Chief Executive
Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of money are
considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal
success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always
determined by one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount
of money. When we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they
have worked to get to their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained.

Essay # 1 Summary
September 10, 2011 Caroline Bird s essay College is a Waste of Time and Money explains her
beliefs on why, for some people, going to college is an ineffective and inefficient use of their time.
She states that many students do not belong in college because they are there for the wrong reasons
and they are not happy learning. She also gives evidence to suggest that going to college and
getting a degree does not actually allows a person to make more money in their life time. Her
final claim is that college does not prepare most students for the real world and the jobs they will
have once they graduate. Bird believes most students are not in college for ... Show more content on

Bird s second point is that, contrary to popular belief, college is not the best monetary investment a
young person can make. Bird explains this by comparing the money that would be spent on
education versus money that is put in a bank for interest. The outcome shows investing money
that would otherwise be spent on a college education would earn over half a million dollars more
than the earnings of a male college graduate compared to a non graduate. Bird also states that
even if a graduate makes more money in their job than a non graduate, there is no evidence that
the higher income is due to their college education. She attributes financial success to luck rather
than a college education. In this argument she mainly puts forth logical reasons why college is
not for everyone. She shows actual dollar amounts that logically prove an education is not
necessarily the most profitable investment. Bird s final point is that college does not prepare most
people for the jobs they are going to have in the future. She states the work attached to most jobs
is totally unrelated to their college education. For example, although there are many graduates with
a psychology degree, there are only so many jobs in psychology. The remaining graduates are
forced to find jobs with work unrelated to the degree they have obtained. Also, she brings up the
point that college does not make people intelligent and successful, but successful and intelligent
people go to

Ancient Egyptian Religion And Religious Beliefs
Religious beliefs shaped every part of ancient civilizations. Cultures heavily based their daily lives,
government, and agriculture on religious beliefs. Most people groups were polytheist and adhered
to traditional obedience to multiple gods. Egyptians culture prided themselves on ritualistic
tradition. The things of the past remained the backbone throughout their cultures life. They
philosophy depended on a changeless universe, which resulted in no value in change. Institutional
traditions and authority were the cornerstone to Egyptian life. Ancient Egyptdemonstrated their
traditional religious beliefs through a divine kingship, their understanding of nature, and their sense
of afterlife. Egyptians lived in constant fear of their gods, not knowing when they might provoke
their deity s anger. The Egyptians viewed their king as divine, which means their ruler was part god
and had absolute dominion over the land.
Since Egypt was heavily based on religious tradition, having a divine monarch was a direct
connection to the gods. The Egyptians saw a rule by a god king as the only acceptable political
arrangement: it was in harmony with the order of the universe and it brought justice and security
to the nation. (Perry 14) The Pharaoh was the human voice of the gods. He expressed the will of
the heavens and oversaw justice in the land. Opposed to other cultures at the time, Egyptians
believed their king was god and supreme overlord. This gave them stability in their monarchy

Zinc, a common mineral located on the periodic table, plays a significant role in how our bodies
function. Found in different foods like meats, nuts, dairy products and certain vegetables; Zinc is
an essential nutrient that the body needs on a regular basis. The RDA (Recommended Daily

divided up into two groups: A subjects with normal ejaculates and B subjects with abnormal
ejaculates. The subjects in the abnormal group were then divided up into 3 sub groups:
Asthenoteratozoospermics, Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Each of these
groups represents a sample with specific parameters on sperm concentration, sperm motility, and
sperm morphology. When looking at the results of the samples, statistics show that group A had the
highest mean Zinc level of seminal plasma which was then followed by Asthenoteratozoospermics,
Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Overall the study concluded that the
measurement of Zinc in human seminal plasma plays an important role in the evaluation of male
infertility and it can increase the quality of semen. Information like this can be beneficial to
couples wanting to have a family. As long as the male has an adequate intake of Zinc there would

water osmosis from high concentrations of water to low concentrations of water. I determined
solution D to be the lowest molarity of 0.0 moles because the potatoes that were immersed in this

of sugar in the potato cores and the potato cores gained a large amount of mass, that must mean that
there was a higher concentrationof water or a hypotonic solutionoutside the potato cores because the

The solution outside the cores must have been hypertonic and inside must have been hypotonic,
causing the water to osmose out of the cores. I knew there must have been more sucrose than
solution A because there decrease was greater, meaning that the outside solution was more
hypertonic, causing more water to need to leave the core to create an isotonic environment. I
determined that solution E contained 0.8 moles of sucrose because the cores immersed in it had the
next largest decrease in mass. This shows that the solution must have been even more concentrated
or hypertonic causing more water to leave to create an isotonic environment. I determined that
solution B contained the largest amount of sucrose with 1.0 moles. This was because the cores
immersed in it had the largest decrease, which means that the solution outside of the core must have
been the most hypertonic which means it must have had the most amount of sucrose. I knew this

My second bad health habit is lack of drinking water. Doctor Howard Flaks mentioned that for a
healthy person the minimum of water they should consumed is eight to ten cups of water. It is sad
to admit that I don t even drink three cups of water. With this nonsense of mine, I am just harming

One day, Ahura Mazda decided to make different creations. First he shaped the sky made of metal,

During ancient times, olives were crushed by foot, with a stone roller, or even in mechanical
presses. The Romans, however, while continuing to use traditional methods, were able to
advance the process of olive oil production by making stone mills with animals. They also
advanced the traditional beam press into a screw press. Both advancements made olive oil
production faster, more efficient, and more for popular demand. The book Cookery and Dining
in Imperial Rome, written by Marcus Apicius, a wealthy Roman merchant and epicure who was

The Imp of the Perverse American writer and critique Edgar Allan Poe is very well known for
his gothic tales of mystery, suspense, and horror. While his impressive collection of work carry
thrilling themes of fear, death, and tragedy, Poe s work goes beyond the purpose of literary
entertainment and revealing his own inner demons. His writing may be heavily influenced by his
own dark and tragic experiences and losses, but it also reveals unique characteristics of the
disturbing nature of all people in general. One of these characteristics is explained in his short

phrenologists have failed to make room for a propensity which, although obviously existing as a
radical, primitive, irreducible sentiment, has been equally overlooked by all the moralists who
have preceded them (____) The narrator explains how this is a failure which leaves room for
error, and believes that root of impulsive behavior leading people to experience perversion for
example is prima mobilia, which is in fact a part of the soul. He defines perversion as the
impulse of doing something counterintuitive to to self help. Overall the idea of acting on impulse
was not being studied and ignored. The narrator feels strongly that people should study and
understand all sides of man, and especially the perverse side. He believes that the way men live
should be based on nature rather than how they should be living. This is not to say that men
should commit murder, rather simply understand what they are capable of and to explain the
natural desire to do so. It would have been wiser, it would have been safer, to classify (if classify

The Movement Toward Communism In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
In the novel The Jungle, Upton Sinclair makes the movement towards communism necessary and
inevitable by exposing the most disgraceful aspects of capitalism. He does this by exploring the
oppressive power structure within the meat packing industry. Additionally, Sinclair studies the
unbelievably imbalanced distribution of wealth created by capitalism. Ultimately Sinclair conveys
that capitalism is a systematic way to maintain the proletariats trapped in their socioeconomic status
while assuring that the bourgeoisie remain in power for generations to come. Sinclair makes it clear
that communism is a necessary step to liberating the lower classes from the grasp of the upper
class. The movement towards communism in the novel The Jungleseems... Show more content on

incarnation of blind and insensate Greed. It was a monster devouring with a thousand mouths,

conditions the workers of the meatpacking industry were subjected to both on the job and in every
other aspect of their daily lives. All while the upper class spends enormous amounts of money
without taking in to consideration the miserable lives the lower classes are forced to live. In The

Compare and Contrast Communism, Socialism, and Capitalism
What is communism? Communism is a term used broadly to designate a theory or system of
social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being
ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state. It refers to the doctrine which underlines the
revolutionary movement which aims to abolish capitalism and ultimately to establish a society in
which all goods will be socially owned, all economic activates socially planned and controlled, and
in which all distributions will be in accordance with the maxim. German author Emil Ludwig
described the maxim as for each according to his capacity, to each according to his need. (1) It is to

As mentions before socialism is the doctrine that espouses public ownership or control of a major
means of production. It aims to achieve an equitable and efficient distribution of social goods and
greater economic planning then exist under capitalism. Although the central concerns of socialism
appears to be economic its ramifications extend to the moral, social and political realms, in fact
together with nationalism, it is the leading ideological and political movement of the 20th century.
It is considered to be the transitional phase between the capitalism and communism. Thus, you
would find all communists advocating for socialism because it lays the foundations for
communism. It advocates an egalitarian society where everyone shares equal wealth and power.
There is a considerable disagreement over how the distribution should take place. Hence, socialism
can be said to be between extreme capitalism and extreme communism with it being nearer to
communism. Socialism is liberal. More people have say in how the economy works. (5) The basic
principles of contempary socialism have their origin in the economic, social and cultural
transformations of Europe which occurred during the 18th and 19th centuries. Contributing factors
were the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the bourgeois and proletarian classes, the
enlightenment s secular and rationalistic view of men and society, and the democratic demands of

The Simple Soul In The Phaedo And The Republic
Within this essay, I am going to argue that the simple soul is a more plausible conception than the
idea of multiplicity within the soul within Plato s work. This is due to the multiplicity of the soul
resting on a circular argument of Plato s ideal city which in turn rests back upon his idea of the
tripartite soul. However, it can also be argued that neither conceptions of the soul are plausible due
to them both relying on Platos theory of the Forms. Throughout Plato s works of the Phaedo and
the Republic, his account for the soul is conflicting as Plato s two accounts cannot be reconciled. I
will also refer to Plato s work in the Phaedrus to aid my explanation of the multiplicity within the
soul.
Simplicity of the soul
Plato s theory of the simplicity of the soul is seen in the Phaedo. Through the mouthpiece of
Socrates, Plato argues for a simple soul which only has one true aim. He states that the soul only
seeks truth and that all other senses and experiences are merely distractions through the soul
being embodied the soul reasons best when none of these senses troubles it, neither hearing nor
sight, nor pain nor pleasure, but when it is most by itself, taking leave of the body and as far as
possible having no contact or association with it in its search for reality. (Plato, 1997, В§65c).
The simple soul can only aim to grasp the truth of reality which it gets closer to as man becomes
closer to death. This is why, in Plato s opinion, a philosopher in particular can

Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC
Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face
during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted
her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any
superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters
wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent
superhero with her own ways and rulebooks.
Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the
criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a
robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do he simply watched as
his parents bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy s mind. He
could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After
school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by
fighting criminals.
Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman s painful
sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. At the age twelve, on her birthday, Kate,
her twin sister and her mother were kidnapped, but her mother and supposedly her sister

Third Person Point Of View In Literature
Point of view is the perspective a piece of literature is being narrated from. In first person point
of view, the writer writes as if the person who the book is about wrote the book, using words like
I and me . Second person point of view uses word like you , as if the author is talking to you and
directing you what to do. Third person point of view is when the author writes as if they are a

third person point of view. The first on is Limited third person point of view. The author writes
from an outsider s perspective, and knows what the main character is thinking, but is limited to
that one character. It is almost as if the author lives in the brain of the person. Third person
Omniscient point of view is different. The author is watching from an outside view and isn t part of
the story. This time though, the author isn t limited to one character s thoughts. Instead, the author
jumps from character to character s minds, as if they document what happens in one person s

work and notions of social education in a number of European countries.
Social pedagogy is based on humanistic values stressing human dignity, mutual respect, trust,
unconditional appreciation, and equality, to mention but a few. It is underpinned by a fundamental
concept of children, young people and adults as equal human beings with rich and extraordinary
potential and considers them competent, resourceful and active agents. ... Show more content on

You also have to bear in mind that the young people might refuse to allow you to protect them
since they have been hurt in personal relations so many times. The professional pedagogue takes
this understanding from and builds on various theories and this enables reflection to take place. A
professional reflection on your own and others practice enables you to evaluate on the progress you
have seen with a young person.
If we are to build trust and attachments then surely we need to be able to draw on past
experiences. For example our school life to allow the young person to see that many people have
had the same problems and that they do not stand alone.

A brief history of Social Pedagogy
Although pedagogy varies across European countries, there are similar roots that have developed
into differing strands of contemporary thinking in pedagogy. Hämäläinen explains that
historically, social pedagogy is based on the belief that you can decisively influence social
circumstances through education and importantly, education is seen as a life long learning process
that does not only refer to children but includes educating adults, for instance in order to change
their idea of children.
While philosophers of Classical antiquity like Plato and Aristotle discussed how education could
contribute to social development, social pedagogy in theory and practice only emerged through the
influence of

Fiction And One Of The Three Consequences Of Science Fiction
Welcome to the world of science fiction, sometimes known familiarly as SF, but rarely Sci Fi,
which is generally considered to be pejorative by aficionados of the genre, and more appropriate for
films than literature. Science fiction is one of the three subdivisions of fantastic literature, the other
two being fantasy fiction and supernatural horror. Although definitions vary and some individual
works may blur the distinction between one branch and another, most fantastic or speculative
stories and novels can by general consensus be placed in one of the three categories. Science fiction
is the youngest of the three, but since the late 1940s it has been by far the most popular, and the
total number of science fiction titles published in book form presently exceeds that of fantasy and
supernatural fiction combined.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Possibly it is because Americans are so fond of, and dependent upon, technology. Possibly it is
because we found it easier to lose ourselves in a fantastic world that might just be possible rather
than in a magical one that we know is not. It could also be that science fiction embraces such a
wide variety of themes and story types space operas, military adventures, utopias and dystopias,
time travel, alternate universes, alien creatures and civilizations, mysteries, and rationalized psychic
powers. There is something in science fiction for almost any reader s taste, whereas fantasy seems
predominantly designed to satisfy those who enjoy lengthy historical novels set in mythical lands,
perhaps with a touch of magic. The recent surge in the number of new fantasy titles has shown no
evolution of that field, and the vast majority of authors seem content to rewrite stories that have
proved popular in the past. Science fiction readers are more interested in the history of the field,
and the direction in which it is

Worldcom Case
3) Roots of the scandal
The roots of the fraud and the role of internal auditors
As explained above, the fraud was implemented by the former CEO Bernard Ebbers and
commited by his financial director Scott D. Sullivan. The technique used by Worldcom was pretty
simple; indeed, he cooked the books by saving pure operating expenses such as maintenance
network in capital expenditure instead of expenses in order to hide its decreasing earnings and to
maintain the price of Worldcom s stock. In summary, certain expenses charged by regional
operators to reroute calls were not taken into account. Of current expenses (line cost expenses),
these charges were recorded in capital in total contradiction with GAAP accounting standards.
Once again, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
U.S. GAAP are only conceptual frameworks that provide general objectives.
Before the SOX law was signed, it was relatively easy to cook the books as the companies were not
obliged to publish information such as off balance sheet commitments or the report of the audit
whereas now they have to do it. Besides, now the SEC verifies the financial situation of the
company every three years and the law also regulates the intervention of external auditors and the
company cannot keep the same auditors for several years. If that was implemented before the
Worldcom case, the SEC would have been aware of the fraud between Worldcom and Arthur
Andersen.
In addition, there is also an obligation for the CEOs and CFOs to personally certify the accounts
(section 906).This increases criminal responsibility of managers in front of the accounting and
financial information of the company. Section 404 requires companies to implement internal
controls whose effectiveness must be demonstrated. Indeed, the WorldCom fraud could have been
prevented if the company had good enough internal controls to prevent Scott D. Sullivan from
ordering changes in accounts just to allow the company to report phony profits.
The creation of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) which is a new
regulatory and supervisory organism created to oversee audit firms, establish standards, inspect and
sanction persons with deviant behavior is another important point. This

Human Resources At The Silicon Valley
Discipline Investigation
Introduction
Everyone has to choose a major in college for his or her future job. I decided to choose Human
Resources my sophomore year of college. I chose this major because I love interacting with people.
I love talking, helping, and communicating with people. Another reason why I like human resources
is because it is a challenge; every day is different. There is not a day that is the same at work.
There are always different situations to solve. Another reason why I chose to study human
resources is because I am living in Silicon Valley. There are many job opportunities in Silicon
Valley. Every company needs at least one human resources employee. Bigger companies have
multiple departments for human resources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The department that I want to be part of is benefits and recruiting. The person that I interviewed
was Ms. K, and her position at Company X is executive team leader of human resources.
Company X is a very renowned retail chain superstore. She has worked at Company X for five
years. In this assignment I will share Ms. K s background, career path, roles and responsibilities,
and communication skills she uses on the job.
Background and Career Path
Ms. K is a Caucasian woman who has lived in San Jose all her life. Ms. K graduated from the
University of California Santa Barbara. Here, she studied both sociology and psychology. She
held several other positions before working for her current company. This included being an
intern at American Red Cross, and she also worked at a bank as a teller before. She worked at
the bank for almost a year before she decided that being a teller was not her ideal job. She told
herself at that point in her life that she did not put in all that time and effort in her studies to
become a teller. She joked that she enjoyed her position as a teller, but she did not enjoy her
paycheck as much. She explained to me that she could not support her family with that salary.
According to How Much Do Bank Tellers Make by Noel Griffith, the author explains the same
situation. Mr. Noel explains, According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average salary of a
bank teller is $25,760. One day she came across a job

The Dubious Hamlet Research Paper
The Dubious Hamlet
As one of the most critically acclaimed plays in history, Hamlet happens to be a main source of
debate along with one of the best stories of revenge. William Shakespeare wrote Hamlet during
the early 1600 s setting the play in Denmark during the late medieval time. While boasting an
advanced plot and ambiguous themes, Shakespeare perfectly portrays well developed characters in
his play. These characters will continue to be studied for decades further; one of those characters
would be Hamlet. Hamlet is not only the protagonist, but also the main focal point for the majority
of the themes in the book. In the play, he learns the cause of his father s premature death, and
sweeps to revenge. However, Hamlet struggles with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to the ones Hamlet genuinely loves, very few characters spring to mind, of them
being Gertrude and Horatio. Hamlet displays his obedience to his mother and care to his friend
in the book. I shall in all my best obey you, madam, (Shakespeare Act 2 Scene 1: 120) says Hamlet
as he graciously agrees to his beloved mother. Unfortunately, issues arise when his mother spends
little to no time grieving over her dead husband and quickly marries her brother in law. No matter
how furious Hamlet gets with his mother, he never thinks about harming her. With his mother, even
in his moment of greatest revulsion at her actions, he limits himself to speaking daggers to her even
though he is sufficiently overwrought to use them (Aichinger). Hamlet possesses every right to be
upset with his mother, but the genuine love he feels for his mother proves stronger than his anger.
Thus supporting the fact Hamlet does not lack a conscience or morals. Clearly, Hamlet exhibits a
deeper reasoning than any other character in the play: Throughout the play, he displays gentility
and a moral sense superior to that of any other person. His treatment of Horatio and the players is
democratic and humane (Aichinger). The form of conscience and reasoning that readers observe
occurs in the cordial colloquies between Hamlet and Horatio. Horatio happens to be Hamlet s
best friend in the play, and Hamlet values his friend Horatio as much as his mother. Hamlet s
conversations with Horatio differ from any other character in the book because a passionate and
reverent side of Hamlet appears. But we must remark how Hamlet speaks of Horatio; he does so
in words of passionate admiration. His election has sealed Horatio for himself because in suffering
all, Horatio suffered nothing; and it is the man

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Speech
President, Ronald W. Reagan, in his speech, Explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger Address
to the Nation, Reagan expresses the grief and loss due to the tragedy that has occurred to the
Challenger. Regan s purpose was to acknowledge the terrible explosion of the Challenger,
witnessed by majority of the people including children and killed all seven crew members:
Michael Smith, Dick, Scobee, Judith Resnik, Ronald McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Gregory Jarvis,
and Christa MC Auliffe; although despite such horrible incident, Regan had insisted that the
nation should continue the space program. He adopts a empathetic and encouraging tone in
order to show his consideration to the victimized families and to promote the continuation of the
space program as a sign of moving forward. Therefore, in Reagan s speech, he conveyed his
empathy and the will to go on with the use of rhetorical devices such as ethos, pathos, allusion,
and anaphora. Reagan had commenced his speech with the use of Pathos, The day Reagan had
given his speech, he proclaimed that it was a day of mourning and remembering (1). Regan has
put into recognition of the tragedy that recently took place, which was the explosion of the
Challenger. Not only that the families of the astronauts were victimized are experiencing the pain,
but the whole nation as a whole for it was a national loss. The country has lost a group of people

Thesis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby, the Scrivener is a remarkable short story written by author Herman Melville. The
narrator of the story is a lawyer who owns his own law practice located on Wall Street and has
various scriveners who work for him. The first scrivener he describes is named Turkey. He is an
excellent worker in the morning, but as the day goes on his work begins to become messy and
sloppy. He also has an ill temper in the afternoon. The lawyer tries to have Turkey work only in
the morning, but of course Turkey argues with him so the lawyer just decides to give him less
import work in the afternoon. The second worker that the narrator describes is Nippers, is the
complete opposite from Turkey. He is a young and has an ambitious attitude. Although he has
trouble working in the morning, he is always on task and works best in the afternoon and evening
hours. The next employee is not a scrivenerbut he works as an errand boy. He is nicknamed Ginger
Nut due to the fact that Nippers and Turkey always send him to get ginger Nut cakes for them.
Lastly, the last employee The Lawyer describes is Bartleby. According to the Lawyer, Bartle is,
one of those beings of whom nothing is ascertainable, except from the original sources, and in his
case those are very small (Melville 1). To him, Bartleby is the most interesting scriveners of all
time. Bartleby joins the office after getting hired when he saw an ad placed by the Lawyer, which
at that time needed extra help in his office. In the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Technology In Teaching
Introduction It is no doubt that most people are afraid to change. However, they said the only
thing unchanged is change itself, which I find quite true. People need to adjust themselves and try
to adopt new things, no matter they want or not. It is the same when talking about teaching
English to speakers of other languages. Students are different nowadays. They are greatly
exposed to new inventions and technologies. Therefore, if teachers stick to the traditional ways of
teaching and do not change at all, soon or later they will be eliminated, if not completely, at least
to a certain degree. Technology plays an important role in modern life. It has an impact on almost
every field of life and it influences teaching as well with no doubt.... Show more content on

Conclusion Technology or CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) is meant to supplement
face to face language instruction, but not to replace it. Therefore, I believe that teachers shouldn t
get rid of traditional blackboard. In the future, I will try to combine using technology and
blackboard properly and efficiently because it is sad to find that some students now are even lack of
ability to calculate simple figures. This is because technology is abused by some teachers and
students. When the society cares only about how to use calculators or computers, the importance of
students mental development will be jeopardized. Furthermore, technology will become a
disadvantage for some students, who cannot afford computers at home. In this case, to be familiar
with technology is just something difficult for them. Therefore, although technology does help with
TESOL to a certain degree, teachers should take all students into consideration during the process of
deciding what technology to adopt to help with their English

Australian Health Care Essay
Oral health in Australia is a concern. The impact of poor dental health can instigate ulcers,
gingivitis, gum disease and damage one s overall health. Tooth decay is extensive among Australian
adults, and tooth aches are a considerable amount of hospital admission for children (Parliament of
Australia, 2013). Two in three children aged 14 years have deteriorated permanent teeth, while three
in ten adults receive no treatment at all. Adults living in rural Australiaare 1.7 times more likely to
have no teeth than those in major cities. 14 percent of children and 37 percent of adults avoid or

The impact on the health system alone will have a dynamic consequences for younger Australians.
Financing this becomes problematic, Australia already spends 9.5 percent of gross domestic
product (GPI) was health care services (Organisation for Economic Co operation and
Development, 2013) and costs will only escalate. The health workforce in 2011 had 3.3 doctors
and 10.1 nurses per 100 000 population however 25 percent of those were over the age of 55 years
(Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development, 2013). Then there is community
expectations on receiving services free or at a very low cost. Not to mentation globalisation which
requires high efficient technology to transmit information internationally and finally government
overregulation.
Ensuring effective and cost efficient health care is not an easy battle however, some pre planning
is required. Similar to superannuation funds, a foundation needs to be established for each
Australian worker, then a percentage of their income should be paid directly into this reserve and
may be drawn against when health care issues arise. This would elevate some of the financing
pressure and community expectations. The Medicare levy tax would still be charged to cover
medical training, research, technology and assist vulnerable Australians.

Essay on Progression of the Kouroi
Progression of the Kouroi
What is a kouros? In Greek, kouros means a young man. In art, a kouros is a statue of a young
nude male who stands with his hands at his sides and one leg, usually his left, advanced.
Throughout the Archaic period, which dates from 610 B.C. to 480 B.C., the basic pose of kouroi
(plural for kouros) remained the same, though the anatomy of the figures gradually became more
naturalistic or true to life. The ideology that the Greek sculptors wanted to achieve greater
naturalism is proven through the progression of the kouroi during the period.
At a glance, three main features deem the Getty Kouros under the general classification of a kouros:
hands, hair, and feet. The hands are clenched into fists. They... Show more content on

Despite this, the Kouros was put on display on October 1986. During the early nineties, a fake
marble torso that is similar to the Getty Kouros is discovered. Therefore, the fake torso was
purchased for research and the Kouros was removed from the display for reevaluation of the
previous studies. In May of 1992, the Kouros was displayed in Athens, Greece, at an international
conference on its authenticity. Although the majority of art historians and archeologists condemn it,
most of the scientists believe the Kouros to be authentic. Up to this day, the question of the Getty
Kouros authenticity remains a mystery for the statue is still dated as Greek, 530 B.C. or modern
forgery.
The controversy of the authenticity of the Getty Kouros will be addressed shortly after the
characterization of the kouros.
Kroisos, a kouros from a cemetery at Anavysos, most resembles the Getty Kouros. By comparing
the Getty Kouros shown at different angles with Kroisos a lot of similarities can be seen. The
placement of the feet on the base in relation to the position of the hands and the shoulders, as well
as details of the head, can help to determine whether a kouros turns to the left or right. This subtle
movement in either direction is found among all authentic kouroi. The bent (or broken) axis of the
left foot of the Getty Kouros is one of

While working at the train station Edison saved a toddler s life and the father awarded him by
teaching Thomas the skills to work a telegraph. This would be important for Thomas later in life
as telegraphy would be something that he would be doing as a career for a certain part of his
life. At the time of the American Civil War, Edison worked across the country as a telegrapher.
However due to his scarlet fever as a child he began to develop hearing problems and due to the
important use of hearing signals for telegraphy, telegraphy became difficult for Thomas. Thomas
later left telegraphy in 1869 and moved on to just working on inventions. In 1871, Edison lost his
mother, and later he married his first wife Mary Stillwell. Unfortunately for Thomas he soon began
to have financial troubles and met problems due to the situation. Thomas s father came to help his
son, and thanks to Thomas s father help, they built Thomas s iconic laboratory in Menlo Park, New
Jersey. Thomas invented the Carbon Transmitter in 1877, a device which improved the
transmission in the telephone. Thanks to his past work and skills on the telegraph, Thomas
invented the phonograph, a device which could record sound and reproduce that same sound.
Through these inventions Thomas was given the name The Wizard of Menlo Park by the press.
Then came his most famous invention the incandescent lightbulb. Unlike what some people think,
Thomas Edison did not invent the lightbulb, he did however invent

Gender Differences Between Work And Life
In Manage your work, manage your life, Groysberg and Abrahams use research and survey data
to show gender differences on how success is viewed. There were some similarities and obvious
gender differences in answers. On another note the article by Stewart Friedman, Work + home +
community + self, the main focus is on three key principles to focus on to be better at integration
between work and life. Each article s content can be a guide in careerplanning and to help with one
s professionaldevelopment.
The article Manage your work, manage your life discusses the popular topic of work and life
balance. Interviews were conducted and researched with over 4,000 executives worldwide and 82
executives in a leadership course over a five year course (Groysberg and Abrahams, 2014). They
broke down and compared men and women to determine how they defined what professional
success means to them, what personal success means and what their partners contribute (Groysberg
and Abrahams, 2014). The survey data showed some true gender differences on what each values
more. A large number of women define professional success by their individual achievement over
everything else. Men on the other hand define it by making a difference, next to working with a
good team in a good environment and respect from others (Groysberg and Abrahams, 2014). When
asked what personal success meant to men and women both chose rewarding relationships with
family, people they love and community at the

  • 3. Vlad The Impaler Research Paper There have been a lot of rulers in the world that have been remembered for great achievements. However, some rulers were terrible leaders and have been remembered for terrible things., Vlad the Impaler was one of the leaders. His decisions about how to rule made history because of their cruelty. Vlad the Impaler, who descended from Vlad ll Dracula had a unique personality, and some choices of punishments that made history. Vlad the Impaler was descended from Vlad ll Dracula. Vlad made history for how violent he was when he ruled Romania, and this partially came from his relatives and father Vlad ll Dracula. It is believed that his father died violently during war. His brother Mircea and younger brother, Radu also suffered untimely... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Impalement was his most famous punishment and he tortured thousands of people with it. Impalement was initiated by taking an oiled stake about as wide as a burly man s arm, and inserting it through the victim s buttocks, often until it protruded from their mouths. (Alter Dimensions 9) As if that wasn t enough Vlad made sure the oiled stake was not too sharp to make sure shock didn t kill the victims. Set up around the castle were the bodies, and the smell was horrendous throughout the castle. Vlad thought violence was the answer to misbehavior, so this is what he did. However, Vlad had more choices of punishments throughout the castle... Reports indicate that tortures included nails in the head, cutting off of limbs, strangulation, burning, cutting off of noses and ears, mutilation of sexual organs, scalping, skinning, exposure to the elements or wild animals, and boiling persons alive. • 4. Cell Membrane And The Cell Body Neurons are made up of four regions, the cell body, dendrites, axons and presynaptic terminal. The cell body (soma) contains the nucleus of a neuron and the endoplasmic reticulum. Extending out from the cell body are processes called dendrites and axons. These processes conduct nerve impulses. Dendrites conduct impulses toward the cell body while axons conduct impulses away from the cell body. A fatty sheath called myelin sheath encases axons. It is the greatly expanded plasma membrane of an accessory cell called the Schwann cell where the sheath of one Schwann cell meets the next. The axolemma is the portion of the cell membrane surrounding the axon of a neuronand is responsible for maintaining the membrane potential of the neuron. A single neuron, especially one in the central nervous system may have thousands of other neurons synapsing on it. Some of these release activating (depolarizing) neurotransmitters; others release inhibitory (hyperpolarizing) neurotransmitters. An inactive or resting neuron actively pumps sodium out of the cell and potassium into the cell to maintain equilibrium. However, the plasma membrane is more permeable to potassium than to sodium, which results in some potassium to diffuse out of the neurons. Large, negatively charged proteins such as phosphate and sulfate cannot diffuse out of the neuron. This results in a net excess of positively charged ions outside the neuron membrane and net excess of negatively charged ions inside the neuron. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Brendan Behan’s The Quare Fellow and Samuel Beckett Essay Brendan Behan s The Quare Fellow and Samuel Beckett Existential works are difficult to describe because the definition of existentialism covers a wide range of ideas and influences almost to the point of ambiguity. An easy, if not basic, approach to existentialism is to view it as a culmination of attitudes from the oppressed people of industrialization, writers and philosophers during the modern literary period, and people who were personally involved as civilians, soldiers, or rebels during WWII and witnessed the worst aspects of life and war. These attitudes combined the aspects of loss of identity and autonomy, the uselessness of pain, a sense of alienation, and the meaninglessness of a harsh life where death is the only way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brendan Behan s play, The Quare Fellow, contains all the characteristics of an existential work through the depiction the realistic portrayal of an Irish prison. Behan wastes no time in expressing his disdain for the public s blind acceptance of the present state and motives of the modern world. The setting of the play, an Irish prison, is a microcosm for the modern, capitalistic society. In this context, the inmates represent ordinary citizens of society and the warders, respectively, represent those who maintain power and order governments and corporations. Behan s presented imagery is that of an inescapable world where no person is actually free. There are always powers that people must follow and respect in order to survive in such a society. The loss of autonomy and complete freedom is always the result, thus perpetuating the stratification of power and the continued sacrifice of the masses; however, the delusion of freedom is always present. Although Mickser is released from the prison, there seems to be little hope in his future as he ll be back, inevitably, in prison (Behan 309). Mickser is a physically free man, but with the world working against him, he will return to the place where every decision is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How The Cloud Is A Time Consuming And Ultimately... wanting to send folders and multiple documents this method can become time consuming and ultimately inefficient. There is an option to zip files when emailing however this only compresses files to a point, some are still too big. An alternate way to saving on the cloud is using Google Drive, which in reality, most students at John Paul II (or at least in my year) do not have a lot of experience with, so generally do not use it. This would be able to securely store larger files. Since we cannot work on some files within the Google interface it would require the file to be downloaded each time it needs to be updated on a different computer. This is one disadvantage which is inefficient but as Google continues to develop more file types may be editable reducing this problem. Personally I prefer the USB for larger files and transferring files in general. However an issue at our school especially within the main computing room there are issues with USB s connecting so whenever attempting to transfer data onto the school computer to work on it there is an uncertainty whether it will successfully connect or not. The benefits as mentioned above are the USB can transfer large files and load them quickly when USB is connected. An example of this is when working on the internal assessments for digital media or digital information. When working on these assignments there is often a main folder containing many sub folders with multiple files contained within them. This type of data ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A fair share of qualitative and quantitative research was conducted in an attempt to adequately address the specific questions that were being asked. All of the research we reviewed used primary data and chose not to utilize secondary data to conduct their experiments, however, several of the studies references secondary data sources when speaking of historical backgrounds of rape and in their discussions. The methods our group has chosen to pay particular interest to are those that were used to gather data from participants at college campuses, as this is the population we wish to further explore. Due to women of college age being at an increased risk for sexual violence, several of the studies we found pursued out this population as well. A study conducted at James Madison University gathered their findings from a participant pool at their university using the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale, the Modern and Old Fashion Sexism Scale, and rape scenarios and questions in which they evaluating participants identification with either the victim or the assailant (12p.242) This study was not alone in using the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale as measure. • 8. Social Media And Electronic Communication Communication Electronic communication technologies influence the social development of adolescents in several ways including interpersonal communication, and emphasized that interpersonal communications are depersonalized because adolescent now conduct a higher proportion of communication electronically rather than face to face or voice to voice. (Subrahmanyam greenfield, 2008). Any type technology to communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social networking sites, it deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and voice dynamics (Cyr, Berman, Smith, 2014). Interpersonal relationship problems arise when messages on either end are misunderstood (Erozkan, 2013). When adolescents communicate face to face, it provides an adequate tone of voice, therefore the message is more clearly, in contrast, when using social media, the reader may misinterpret the message. Erozkan (2013) emphasized that without effective communication, a message can turn into error, misunderstanding, or frustration. Communication is the basis of personal relationships and effective communication happens when the message that is sent is the same message that is received (Erozkan, 2013). This can cause differences in relationships as interactions face to face are necessary. Although face to face interactions provides more meaning to relationships, adolescents opt to use their electronic communication. Some adolescents might be more expressive ... • 9. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Oral Communication Section A A1) Communication is sharing our feelings, experiences, thoughts, suggestions, feedback and etc. So usually before communicating with another person, we tend to think of how to speak, what to speak, when to speak and which channel I should adopt to before communicating. The sender is the person who sends the message. Let s take an example for this case; two people are communicating between each other. The sender is Amy and the receiver is Pond. Amy will send the message, which is the information she would like for Pond to know. She will then encode her message, which is transforming her message which can be transformed into written words or verbal communication. Then, Amy must choose a channel of communication which is also known as the manner in which the message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages for oral communication includes; saves valuable time, saves cost, more powerful and effective, able to get immediate feedback and correction of errors. Oral communication saves time in cases of situation where an immediate action is required to be taken. Also, if the management s work load is high, they d rather want to complete their tasks by using oral instructions. When you are communicating verbally, you do not require any paper, pen, stamp or a computer. Oral communications tend to persuade and control the people we are talking to. Therefore, management often prefers to communicate to their staff by the means of oral communication. • 10. The Tragebility Of Othello In Act 1 Scene III Othello s nobility is undisputable within the first few acts. In Act 1 Scene I Shakespeare characterizes Othello indirectly through others opinions; Iago refers to Othello as an old black ram , a Barbary horse and a devil , Roderigo similarly uses debasing imagery and language to describe Othello: thicklips . The only information the audience has about Othelloat this time is the vulgar description of a barbaric outsider from Roderigo and Iago; this is in sharp contrast to the noble character we meet just one scene later. Othello in Act 1 Scene II is noble, calm and both confident and humble. When he learns that Desdemona s father, Brabantio, is coming for revenge his response is calm and confident: Let him do his spite; My services, which I have done the signiory, Shall out tongue his complaints . Iago urges Othello to leave as Brabantio approaches them; Othello refuses and stands his ground, highlighting his confidence and his nobility: Not I, I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul Shall manifest me rightly When violence is brewing between the characters in Act 1 Scene II Othello becomes the peacemaker and shows his calm, rational side, appealing to Brabantio to cease the violence. Some most notable are that of the Bolsheviks and the Nazis. These movements and others like them have emerged as a result of the mistreatment of people, to preserve a group of people or propagate an idea or view. No matter the reason behind the start of the group, they all have one goal; the end result of every mass movement is to bring change. Now, these Volunteers were formed in response to the formation of the Ulster Volunteer in 1913. The Ulster Volunteers were founded by Protestant Unionists in the north. • 13. Success Is A True Success Erykah Badu once quoted I planned success. I just knew it was going to happen. From her statement, success is all about planning, and working hard to progress towards an ultimate goal. How Ms. Badu was so confident in attaining success, that is how everyone s determination for success should be. If someone is willing to accept possible failure, strive, and be their best, by doing their best, successit theirs. Even though success has as many definitions as there are people, many people measure their success based primarily on wealth; however, I define success as being that which is attained as one sets goals and achieves them, and as a fluid thing that changes as our stations in life change. In today s culture, society, as a whole, brainwashes us into a false perception of success. People with expensive handbags, cars, or jewelry are automatically deemed as a success. Also, people with corporate jobs that hold Chief Executive Operation positions, or a field in general that makes an immense amount of money are considered the successful ones. While a having a great job may be someone s own personal success, do not let the wealth speak as to why you are successful. Success is not always determined by one s wealth. As an example, it is already known that celebrities make a vast amount of money. When we review their success, we look at their accomplishments, and how hard they have worked to get to their ultimate goal, not how much money they have ascertained. ... • 15. College Is a Waste of Time and Money Essays Hayley Drummond Professor Dill Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 9:15 Essay # 1 Summary September 10, 2011 Caroline Bird s essay College is a Waste of Time and Money explains her beliefs on why, for some people, going to college is an ineffective and inefficient use of their time. She states that many students do not belong in college because they are there for the wrong reasons and they are not happy learning. She also gives evidence to suggest that going to college and getting a degree does not actually allows a person to make more money in their life time. Her final claim is that college does not prepare most students for the real world and the jobs they will have once they graduate. Bird believes most students are not in college for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bird s second point is that, contrary to popular belief, college is not the best monetary investment a young person can make. Bird explains this by comparing the money that would be spent on education versus money that is put in a bank for interest. The outcome shows investing money that would otherwise be spent on a college education would earn over half a million dollars more than the earnings of a male college graduate compared to a non graduate. Bird also states that even if a graduate makes more money in their job than a non graduate, there is no evidence that the higher income is due to their college education. She attributes financial success to luck rather than a college education. In this argument she mainly puts forth logical reasons why college is not for everyone. Bird s final point is that college does not prepare most people for the jobs they are going to have in the future. Egyptians lived in constant fear of their gods, not knowing when they might provoke their deity s anger. The Egyptians viewed their king as divine, which means their ruler was part god and had absolute dominion over the land. • 35. The Simple Soul In The Phaedo And The Republic Within this essay, I am going to argue that the simple soul is a more plausible conception than the idea of multiplicity within the soul within Plato s work. This is due to the multiplicity of the soul resting on a circular argument of Plato s ideal city which in turn rests back upon his idea of the tripartite soul. However, it can also be argued that neither conceptions of the soul are plausible due to them both relying on Platos theory of the Forms. Throughout Plato s works of the Phaedo and the Republic, his account for the soul is conflicting as Plato s two accounts cannot be reconciled. I will also refer to Plato s work in the Phaedrus to aid my explanation of the multiplicity within the soul. Simplicity of the soul Plato s theory of the simplicity of the soul is seen in the Phaedo. Through the mouthpiece of Socrates, Plato argues for a simple soul which only has one true aim. He states that the soul only seeks truth and that all other senses and experiences are merely distractions through the soul being embodied the soul reasons best when none of these senses troubles it, neither hearing nor sight, nor pain nor pleasure, but when it is most by itself, taking leave of the body and as far as possible having no contact or association with it in its search for reality. Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted her wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent superhero with her own ways and rulebooks. Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do he simply watched as his parents bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy s mind. He could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the night he became an orphan. After school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by fighting criminals. Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman s painful sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister. In first person point of view, the writer writes as if the person who the book is about wrote the book, using words like I and me . Second person point of view uses word like you , as if the author is talking to you and directing you what to do. Third person point of view is when the author writes as if they are a spectator of the book, using words like they and she and he . There are three different types of third person point of view. The first on is Limited third person point of view. The author writes from an outsider s perspective, and knows what the main character is thinking, but is limited to that one character. It is almost as if the author lives in the brain of the person. Third person Omniscient point of view is different. The author is watching from an outside view and isn t part of the story. This time though, the author isn t limited to one character s thoughts. Instead, the author jumps from character to character s minds, as if they document what happens in one person s mind, and switches to the next when the chapters change or the paragraphs end. However, by the second half of the twentieth century social pedagogy became increasingly associated with social work and notions of social education in a number of European countries. Social pedagogy is based on humanistic values stressing human dignity, mutual respect, trust, unconditional appreciation, and equality, to mention but a few. Fiction And One Of The Three Consequences Of Science Fiction Welcome to the world of science fiction, sometimes known familiarly as SF, but rarely Sci Fi, which is generally considered to be pejorative by aficionados of the genre, and more appropriate for films than literature. Science fiction is one of the three subdivisions of fantastic literature, the other two being fantasy fiction and supernatural horror. Although definitions vary and some individual works may blur the distinction between one branch and another, most fantastic or speculative stories and novels can by general consensus be placed in one of the three categories. Science fiction is the youngest of the three, but since the late 1940s it has been by far the most popular, and the total number of science fiction titles published in book form presently exceeds that of fantasy and supernatural fiction combined.... There is something in science fiction for almost any reader s taste, whereas fantasy seems predominantly designed to satisfy those who enjoy lengthy historical novels set in mythical lands, perhaps with a touch of magic. Worldcom Case 3) Roots of the scandal The roots of the fraud and the role of internal auditors As explained above, the fraud was implemented by the former CEO Bernard Ebbers and commited by his financial director Scott D. The technique used by Worldcom was pretty simple; indeed, he cooked the books by saving pure operating expenses such as maintenance network in capital expenditure instead of expenses in order to hide its decreasing earnings and to maintain the price of Worldcom s stock. In summary, certain expenses charged by regional operators to reroute calls were not taken into account. U.S. GAAP are only conceptual frameworks that provide general objectives. Before the SOX law was signed, it was relatively easy to cook the books as the companies were not obliged to publish information such as off balance sheet commitments or the report of the audit whereas now they have to do it. Besides, now the SEC verifies the financial situation of the company every three years and the law also regulates the intervention of external auditors and the company cannot keep the same auditors for several years. If that was implemented before the Worldcom case, the SEC would have been aware of the fraud between Worldcom and Arthur Andersen. In addition, there is also an obligation for the CEOs and CFOs to personally certify the accounts (section 906).This increases criminal responsibility of managers in front of the accounting and financial information of the company. Section 404 requires companies to implement internal controls whose effectiveness must be demonstrated. Indeed, the WorldCom fraud could have been prevented if the company had good enough internal controls to prevent Scott D. Sullivan from ordering changes in accounts just to allow the company to report phony profits. Unfortunately, issues arise when his mother spends little to no time grieving over her dead husband and quickly marries her brother in law. No matter how furious Hamlet gets with his mother, he never thinks about harming her. With his mother, even in his moment of greatest revulsion at her actions, he limits himself to speaking daggers to her even though he is sufficiently overwrought to use them (Aichinger). Hamlet possesses every right to be upset with his mother, but the genuine love he feels for his mother proves stronger than his anger. In art, a kouros is a statue of a young nude male who stands with his hands at his sides and one leg, usually his left, advanced. Throughout the Archaic period, which dates from 610 B.C. to 480 B.C., the basic pose of kouroi (plural for kouros) remained the same, though the anatomy of the figures gradually became more naturalistic or true to life. The ideology that the Greek sculptors wanted to achieve greater naturalism is proven through the progression of the kouroi during the period.
