This document summarizes a meeting of the East of England Water Partnership. The objectives of the meeting were to establish a common purpose and priorities for water management in the region, identify key stakeholders, and ensure commitment to agreed plans. Presentations were given by water companies on their strategies. Groups discussed developing a concordat to define the partnership's purpose, aims, membership, governance and commitments. They also discussed strategic priorities and plans for 2015-2020, including partnership approaches to resilience, growth, customer behavior and climate change. The meeting aimed to facilitate collaboration on water stewardship and delivery of regional projects.

Lake Tai is the third largest freshwater lake in China, bordering Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces,
providing water to 30 million residents. A severe algal bloom in 2007 led to the development of the
Lake Tai Master Plan, launched by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), to
improve nutrient management in the basin. Under a joint Australian China Environmental
Development Project, the Australian eWater Source Integrated Modelling System (IMS) was applied
to model water quantity and quality for a pilot area on the Dongshan Peninsula in the Lake Tai Basin.
Source is a powerful modelling platform for environmental management which can integrate many
physical processes and human impacts, successfully applied in over 70 basins across Australia.
Flood is the most devastating environmental hazard throughout the world causing loss of precious human lives
and damage to infrastructure. They occur by unusual overflow of water over the banks of rivers or channels
thus inundating the surrounding area. The magnitude and intensity of floods depends on hydrological and
physical characteristics of the catchment and river channel. Adverse effects of these floods can be alleviated
through mapping of floodplain which is essentially the area around the channel which is likely to be flooded.
One of the methods of floodplain delineation is modeling the river flow using computer models such as the
Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS). In this study the application of 2D HEC-RAS
river model is used to develop a floodplain map of river Kabul.

Drinking water Quality is one of the most important concerns. The heavy metals level up to ppb levels in drinking water quality may cause severe health problems. In this study attempt was made to determine the concentrations of eight heavy metals in water samples taken in August 2016 from boreholes, hand dug wells and streams in some selected areas of Mubi North local government Adamawa state. These samples were subjected to analysis for eight elements (Zn, Fe, Ca, Na, Mg, Mn, Pb and Cd using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The concentrations of these metals in the study areas were compared with drinking water quality limits given by the World Health Organization (WHO). Na, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn and Ca concentrations were found to range from 4.80-5.0, 0.06-2.6, 0.03-3.05, 0.04-0.80, 0.02-0.17, 20.49-35.6Mg/L respectively. The concentrations of Na, Mg, Ca, and Zn found in this study were lower than the permissible limit of WHO. While that of Fe in water sample from stream were found to be higher as compared with the WHO standard. Similarly the concentration of Mn in stream and borehole water samples were also higher.Cd and Pb were not detected in all the samples.
Session 6: River Health and Hydropower on the Lancang River was hosted by EcoFish and the Asian International Rivers Center, Yunnan University at the 2017 Greater Mekong Forum on Water Food and Energy. After three years works of implementing the WLE project on 'Balancing River Health and Hydropower Requirements in the Lancang River Basin', we have made progress in balancing river health and hydropower requirements in the Lancang River Basin. This Session will present results from the project. The impacts of hydropower on river health, environmental management of hydropower with a perspective on river health, and transboundary environmental effects of Chinese dams will be summarized and discussed at the session. In addition to presenting research findings and development advances, the session will also share experience and lessons learned in China with Mekong countries that are seeking hydropower to propel economic and social development.
With water resource variability rapidly growing and demands on water resources increasing, using digital tools and innovative, inclusive institutional approaches to address both challenges is becoming ever-more urgent.
A recent workshop under the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (Research Area on Variability, Risks and Competing Uses), showcased research outputs in two activity clusters - Managing Resource Variability and Risks for Resilience and Managing Competing Uses and Trade-offs - that can help increase water security for poor rural users while also improving food security and rural livelihoods.
With water resource variability rapidly growing and demands on water resources increasing, using digital tools and innovative, inclusive institutional approaches to address both challenges is becoming ever-more urgent.

Water Pollution Control for Mandalay KanDawGyi Lake by Natural Treatment Systemijtsrd
This paper emphasized on "Water Pollution Control for Mandalay KanDawGyi Lake by Natural Treatment System". KanDawGyi Lake is used for wastewater collection. It is situated in ChanMyaThaZi Township, Mandalay and near the AyeYarWaddy river. Residential, commercial and industrial area are existed surrounding the KanDawGyi Lake. Water from human activities such as cooking, bathing, washing and septic tanks effluent is discharged into drains by gravity flow without treatment. Average six million gallons of wastewater discharged from Mandalay City area flow into KanDawGyi Lake passing through ThinGaZar creek daily. So, lake water has been contaminated by domestic wastewater. This has resulted detrimental effects on the ecosystem. Water in recreation center should be aesthetically pleasing and essentially free of toxicants and pathogenic organisms. Seven collection points such as entrance, east of north side, south east of north side, south of north side, water fountains, PyiGyiMon barge and exit of KanDawGyi Lake are chosen to collect the wastewater sample. The water quality of KanDawGyi Lake is evaluated by various parameters such as temperature, turbidity, suspended solids, dissolved solids, pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, chlorides, total solids and bacteria. According to test results, alkalinity, chlorides, dissolved solids, suspended solids, and total solids are uncertified. Therefore, in this paper wetland design of natural treatment system is used at the entrance of the lake to control the water pollution. Water pollution is one of the major global environmental problems. It is an acute problem almost in all major rivers and water reservoirs in India. Water pollution is increasing and becoming severe day by day and posing a great risk to human health and other living organisms. There is growing concern on the deterioration of ground water quality due to geogenic and anthropogenic activities. Present investigation aims at insight about the level of contaminants of surface water, groundwater and sediment analysis of selected rivers of Krishna River located in Mahuli and Urmodi river located in Nagthane, Satara district. An attempt has been made to assess the water quality, sediment analysis of the samples. Dissolved oxygen content of the water samples was observed quite well in limits such as in Krishna river Mahuli DO was 27.68mg L and in Urmodi river Nagthane was13.68mg .In the present study, COD value was observed by 720mg l at surface water of Krishna River Mahuliand 1320 mg l at surface water sample of Urmodi river Nagthane. As expected groundwater samples showed values of hardness within a limit. There is an urgent need for more representative samples to be used to go beyond preliminary assessment as reported in the present study for making appropriate recommendations. Assessment on the Ecosystem Service Functions of Nansi Lake in ChinaIJERA Editor
The assessment of ecosystem service functions is one of the focused area in modern ecological and
environmental research. As a typical shallow macrophytic lake in China, Nansi Lake is selected as the study
area. Based the indicator system and assessment models established in this research, the ecosystem service
functions of Nansi Lake are assessed. The results show that the ecosystem service function of drinking water
source area/aquatic product supply/ecological habitat/entertainment and landscape/ water purification function of
the lakeside zone for Nansi Lake is assessed as medium (2.2)/good (3.5)/medium (3)/medium (2.55)/medium (3),
and the overall ecosystem service function of Nansi Lake can be considered as ―Medium‖. The eutrophication
control and ecological restoration of lakeside wetland need to be enhanced in the future.
Evaluation of Groundwater Quality and its Suitability for Drinking Purpose in...ijtsrd
Groundwater is a necessary and essential element of any existence support system. It is not only the basic need for human survival but also a compulsory input for all development activities. This study was carried out to analysis factors regulating quality of groundwater in an area with drinking as main use. Sixty groundwater samples twenty form each year 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively have been collected from four different villages of Dharta Watershed of Udaipur district. The analytical results shows higher concentration of TDS 53.33 , EC 45 , and MH 96.67 which indicates signs of deterioration as per WHO and BIS standards. For drinking point of view water quality of the sample investigation reveal that the groundwater is not completely fit for utilization with respect to pH, EC, Na , Mg2 , and Ca2 . Impact of Locating Boreholes Near Septic Tanks Pit Latrines on Drinking Water...ijtsrd
Water is one of the most indispensible elements of life. One of the major uses of water by man is for drinking, hence drinking water quality has become a major concern in this regard because poor quality water can cause outbreak of major epidemics and death. In this study, impact of locating boreholes near septic tanks pit latrines on drinking water quality in Uyo metropolis, Akwa Ibom State was investigated. The water samples were collected from thirty 30 locations and categorized into i water from boreholes near W near and ii far from septic tanks pit latrines W far . Some physicochemical parameters analyzed were temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen DO , biochemical oxygen demand BOD5 , salinity i.e. sulphate, carbonate, nitrate, phosphate and chloride ions , total hardness TH , total dissolved solids TDS , total suspended solids TSS and total alkalinity. Pairwise comparison between quality of W near and W far revealed that only BOD 5, TH and TDS had significant mean difference MD at 5 level of probability while their comparison with World Health Organization permissible limit P WHO showed higher significant MD. All the values of parameters were within P WHO, except that of temperature and pH. Based on the results, the water chemistry is tolerable and may not cause any critical damage to the water distribution system as well as utility components. However, treatment is still suggested and boreholes should be drilled some reasonable distances far away from septic tanks pit latrine to guarantee safe drinking water. Water Quality Index for Assessment of Rudrasagar Lake Ecosystem, IndiaIJERA Editor
Water quality of lakes, rivers and reservoirs in developing countries like India is being degraded
because of the contaminated inflows and surrounding influence. There is a serious need for appropriate water
quality monitoring for future planning and management of Lake and other type of water resources. Quality of
water in Rudrasagar Lake, Tripura, India has been investigated in this paper. Water Quality Index (WQI) was
applied in Rudrasagar Lake India using water quality parameters like pH, Turbidity, Conductivity, Hardness,
Alkalinity, Dissolved Oxygen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Nitrate. Based on the importance of the
parameter for aquatic life the relative weight is assigned to each water quality parameter ranged from 1 to 4.
Tests were performed on site using electronic measuring device as well as on Laboratory with samples of water
collected from different locations of Rudrasagar Lake. It shows that water quality of Rudrasagar Lake falls
within the ‗good water‘ category but marginally. Continuous monitoring of Rudrasagar lake is suggested for
proper management.

Sixty groundwater samples twenty form each year 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively have been collected from four different villages of Dharta Watershed of Udaipur district. The analytical results shows higher concentration of TDS 53.33 , EC 45 , and MH 96.67 which indicates signs of deterioration as per WHO and BIS standards. For drinking point of view water quality of the sample investigation reveal that the groundwater is not completely fit for utilization with respect to pH, EC, Na , Mg2 , and Ca2 . Water is one of the most indispensible elements of life. One of the major uses of water by man is for drinking, hence drinking water quality has become a major concern in this regard because poor quality water can cause outbreak of major epidemics and death. In this study, impact of locating boreholes near septic tanks pit latrines on drinking water quality in Uyo metropolis, Akwa Ibom State was investigated. The water samples were collected from thirty 30 locations and categorized into i water from boreholes near W near and ii far from septic tanks pit latrines W far . Some physicochemical parameters analyzed were temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen DO , biochemical oxygen demand BOD5 , salinity i.e. sulphate, carbonate, nitrate, phosphate and chloride ions , total hardness TH , total dissolved solids TDS , total suspended solids TSS and total alkalinity. Pairwise comparison between quality of W near and W far revealed that only BOD 5, TH and TDS had significant mean difference MD at 5 level of probability while their comparison with World Health Organization permissible limit P WHO showed higher significant MD. All the values of parameters were within P WHO, except that of temperature and pH. Based on the results, the water chemistry is tolerable and may not cause any critical damage to the water distribution system as well as utility components. However, treatment is still suggested and boreholes should be drilled some reasonable distances far away from septic tanks pit latrine to guarantee safe drinking water. Water quality of lakes, rivers and reservoirs in developing countries like India is being degraded
because of the contaminated inflows and surrounding influence. There is a serious need for appropriate water
quality monitoring for future planning and management of Lake and other type of water resources. Quality of
water in Rudrasagar Lake, Tripura, India has been investigated in this paper. Water Quality Index (WQI) was
applied in Rudrasagar Lake India using water quality parameters like pH, Turbidity, Conductivity, Hardness,
Alkalinity, Dissolved Oxygen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Nitrate. Based on the importance of the
parameter for aquatic life the relative weight is assigned to each water quality parameter ranged from 1 to 4.
Tests were performed on site using electronic measuring device as well as on Laboratory with samples of water
collected from different locations of Rudrasagar Lake. It shows that water quality of Rudrasagar Lake falls
within the ‗good water‘ category but marginally. Continuous monitoring of Rudrasagar lake is suggested for
proper management.
