Here are a few ways that have worked for me to reflect on my progress from the last 12 months, for your use in charting your course in the coming year.
Do What You Love (or your work life will totally suck)Denise Jacobs
We’ve all been there: working jobs that we don’t like for “good money”, while having the nagging suspicion that we could be doing something so much more satisfying and fulfilling. This is an opportunity to get past fears and instead be inspired and excited about doing what you *really* want to be doing for work in your life.
Find your true passion and do what you love to doVioleta Salas
There's no secret about success.
Great business requires heart and dedication. Successful people win because they love what they do. Actually, your noble passion is your mission.
You are under-staffed, over-worked, and behind on your commitments. Your “Go-To” person just quit, leaving an unbelievable loss of knowledge which you cannot even begin to comprehend. Are the old-school ways of attracting talent (advertising on job boards, filtering resumes, interviewing candidates) not working? Then this session is for you. The tables have turned—the balance of power has shifted from the employer doing the hiring to the employee landing the job. Employees are operating as free agents now more than ever before. Business leaders must learn how to build teams that engage employees as sensitive, passionate, creative contributors. There is a visible shift needed—from trying to enact the perfect hiring schema—towards focusing on building an irresistible organization to attract top talent. Join Catherine in this hands-on working session to learn how the traditional HR strategy hiring isn’t going to work anymore. Learn how to hack this traditional hiring system to find the right people for your team, how to interview a potential new team member with empathy, learn what new team members will expecting from their new companies, so that you may attract the top talent you need to deliver and delight your customers.
Information and reminders for attending and non-attending A+ Facilitators. The "meta-workshop" day of development on creating and faciliating A+ workshops also modeled an A+ workshop.

At the 10/15/2014 Parent Ed talk, Principal Heather Swanson Johnson gave a fascinating presentation about Catharine Blaine's Writer's Workshop. Her talk reminded me how fortunate we are to have passionate educators like her and Ms. Lily in our children's lives.
Even if you missed Heather's dynamic delivery of this PPT, you'll see her main takeaways from her talk about Writer's Workshop. Hope to see you at the next Parent Ed night!

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

3. Goals & Agenda
Getting published can be an overwhelming and
stressful endeavor for new librarians and
seasoned librarians alike, and many only
attempt to do it because their jobs require it.
The aim of this session is to demystify the
publishing process and emphasize the
importance, and rewards, of writing.
4. Why Write?
Required for your job
Find a job or get promoted (looks good on CV)
Contribute to the profession
Develop (or practice)
communication skills
You love it!
5. Challenges of Writing for the
Profession
Knowing what is expected of you in your job
Finding time
Lack of motivation
Don’t have anything to
say
Lack of confidence
(I can’t possibly do that)
Unfamiliar with the process
8. Other Ways to Collaborate…
... or find collaborators
Find a mentor
Join a writing group
Take a writing class
9. Brainstorming Ideas
Writing starts with inspiration, and inspiration starts
with an idea. Ideas can come from many places:
Discussion
Failure
Question
Solution
Decision
Success
Revelation
Problem
Process
Suggestion
“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a
club.”
– Jack London
10. More Ideas, Write About…
Something you read about
Something you want to learn
about
Something you disagree with
Something recent (before you
forget)
And…
Rework and reuse material -- a poster or
presentation can become an article, an article
a book chapter, and on and on.
