This document describes and compares existing voltage source inverters, current source inverters, and a proposed renewable energy source controlled Ez source inverter. The proposed Ez source inverter uses an impedance network consisting of two inductors and two capacitors to provide buck-boost conversion with reduced switching losses and current ripples. It can operate as both a voltage source and current source inverter with advantages of smoother current draw and lower capacitor voltage requirements compared to other inverter types.
