3. I. Objectives:
a. The learner identifies the types of drugs/substances of abuse

b. The learner discusses the harmful effects of substance use and
abuse on the individual, family, school, and community

4. II. Definition:
Drugs- a medicine or other substance which
has a physiological effect when ingested or
otherwise introduced into the body.
5. III. Activity no. 1“ Let’s Do it”
a. The teacher divides the class into 4 groups;
b. Each group is given 1 classification with its
corresponding effects.
c. Each group will be provided with materials to be
used during the activity;
d. Each group is given 7 minutes to prepare and
brainstorm for their assigned topic.
7. Gateway Drugs
•Gateway drugs such as cigarettes and
alcohol are legal drugs that a non-drug
user might try, which can lead him/her to
more dangerous drugs such as marijuana
and shabu.
9. Depressants
• Depressant Drugs slow down a person’s central nervous
system (CNS). Doctors commonly prescribe depressant
drugs to help certain persons to be less angry, less
stressed or tensed. These drugs also make patients feel
sleepy and light headed. These includes alcohol,
barbiturates and tranquilizers.
11. Stimulant
Stimulant drugs speed up a person’s central nervous
system. These drugs has opposite effect of
depressants. It makes the person energy high.
Negative effects of stimulants include depression
and tiredness. Examples of stimulant drugs are
shabu, caffeine, nicotine and cocaine.
13. Narcotics
• Narcotics are drugs which relieve pain and induce
sleepiness. In medicine , these drugs are
administered in moderation to patients with mental
disorder and those in severe pain like cancer.
Narcotic drugs include cocaine, heroin and
marijuana.
15. Activity no. 2 “ IT’S SHOWTIME”
Mechanics:
a. The class will be divided into 4 groups;
b. Each group shall do the following assigned task which should be relevant to this
theme; “ Respect yourself; Avoid Using harmful Substance”
Group 1- Role play, Group 2- song , Group 3- Poem, Group 4- Poster making
c. Each group is given 10 minutes to accomplish the assigned tasked.
d. each group is graded according to the following criteria;
• creativity- 10 points
• relevance- 10 points
• cooperation- 10 point
TOTAL = 30 pts
16. Assignment:
Directions: On a short bondpaper, create a 3-
stanza poem which should be relevant to this
theme “ Avoid Drug Abuse for you not to get
Lost”. To be submitted on Sept 16, 2019.
