The key changes during muscle contraction are that the H-zone disappears, I-band width decreases, Z-lines move closer together, and the overall sarcomere shortens. Dr. Kate also notes diagrams should be drawn of the sarcomere in a relaxed state, the sarcotubular system, and the neuromuscular junction.
