Project Loon is a network of balloons traveling in the stratosphere designed to connect people in rural and remote areas to the internet. A pilot test of 30 balloons was launched from New Zealand in 2013. The balloons float twice as high as airplanes and are carried by wind currents which can be controlled by rising and falling to different altitudes. Each balloon provides internet connectivity over a 40km diameter area using a system of solar panels, communications equipment, and bouncing signals between balloons and to a ground antenna connected to the global internet. The experience from the pilot test will be used to refine the technology.

Project Loon is a Google initiative to provide internet access to rural and remote areas using balloons floating in the stratosphere. The balloons travel approximately 20 km above the Earth's surface, carried by winds in the stratosphere. Special antennas on the balloons connect to each other and to antennas on the ground, allowing people to access the internet. Project Loon began testing in 2013 and has expanded tests to locations like New Zealand, California, and Brazil to refine the technology.
The document discusses the history and growth of internet usage worldwide. It notes that in 1995 less than 1% of the world's population had internet access, while today around 40% do. The number of internet users increased tenfold from 1999 to 2013. The first billion internet users was reached in 2005, the second billion in 2010, and the third billion in 2014. The project aims to continue expanding internet access to more parts of the world through the use of high-altitude balloons as part of Google's Project Loon.

If successful, this technology could provide internet access without expensive fiber cable infrastructure.
Nursery Pond Management
Objectives:
To obtain required amount of desirable species at desired time at desired price all the year round.
After completing these stages of management the nursery pond is prepared for rearing fry and fingerlings.
The next stage is to select culturable species for stocking in the prepared pond and other management.
If we prepare a good nursery pond we will get a good production .
This document discusses nursery management. Some key points:
1. A nursery is a place where planting materials are raised through seeds or vegetative means with care before being transplanted elsewhere. Proper nursery management is important for mass producing quality planting materials.
2. The main phases of nursery management include planning, demand assessment, establishing a mother block, land and infrastructure requirements, and plant protection. Key elements are the nursery site, the plants being grown, and the nursery manager.
3. Proper media, containers, growing structures and environmental control are needed to successfully propagate plants. Root trainers can develop strong root systems to aid in plant establishment. The nursery manager must understand

This document discusses nursery management techniques for raising vegetable seedlings. It begins by grouping vegetables into those that are direct sown versus transplanted. Advantages of nursery growing are then outlined, including providing favorable growing conditions and avoiding weather issues. Principles around optimizing plant growth through rapid leaf canopy development are covered. Factors to consider when choosing a nursery site like environmental conditions and infrastructure access are also summarized. The document provides details on media, facilities, and procedures for raising healthy seedlings of various vegetable crops in nurseries.

This document provides a summary of work on developing new tools for cassava characterization and improvement. Key points include:
- Developing a protocol for genetic transformation of African cassava landraces to introduce resistance to cassava brown streak disease viruses. Somatic embryogenesis was achieved for 7 genotypes.
- Creating a new vector for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation using the cassava virus movement protein promoter to drive gene expression. This could be used to transform cassava and other crops.
- Successfully transforming the cassava cultivar 'Tokunbo' using the new protocol and achieving stable, high-level expression of the reporter gene in transgenic plants.
This document summarizes a presentation on decoding embryo culture. It discusses how in vitro culture aims to mimic the in vivo environment by balancing nutrients, temperature, pH, oxygen tension, and preventing contaminants. It describes the in vivo conditions in the oviduct and uterus and how culture media and protocols try to replicate these. Key aspects of embryo culture systems like media, gas phase, incubators, and embryologists are outlined. Different culture media compositions and the expectations and history of development are summarized. Various culture protocols like single step, sequential, group and individual culture are compared. Factors like pH, temperature, oxygen tension and their optimal levels are highlighted.

Short period of incubation during egg storageAhmed Samer
ย
Eggs are stored at breeder farms and hatcheries before incubation. Long storage durations of more than 7 days decrease hatchability and chick quality. Short periods of incubation during egg storage (SPIDES) can help minimize these negative effects. The study found that storing eggs for 21 or 29 days significantly reduced fertility, hatchability, and chick quality compared to shorter or no storage periods. SPIDES every 5 days during long-term storage helped maintain hatching traits closer to optimal levels.

1) Endometrial receptivity analysis (ERA) uses gene expression profiling to determine a woman's personal window of implantation (pWOI). It analyzes 238 genes in an endometrial biopsy to assess whether the timing of embryo transfer needs to be adjusted.
2) ERA is recommended for patients with recurrent implantation failure, abnormal uterine factors, or inconsistent endometrial patterns. It can be done in natural, modified natural, or hormone replacement therapy cycles.
3) The results of ERA will indicate whether the endometrium is receptive, pre-receptive, or post-receptive at the time of biopsy. It provides a personalized embryo transfer recommendation to maximize chances of pregnancy success.

Long-term no-till and cover cropping practices increased soil organic matter, microbial activity, and nutrient availability and decreased bulk density compared to conventional tillage systems.

Methods
๏Animal work performed at production facilities owned and
operated by Smithfield Premium Genetics (nursery: 40
pens/room; 7 rooms).
๏At weaning, gilts will be randomly placed in nursery pens to
allow 0.17, 0.25, or 0.33 m2 floor space/pig.
๏Gilts weighed at the beginning and end of 5-wk nursery phase
of production and average daily gain determined.
๏Blood samples will be collected from subset of gilts to determine
blood chemistry profiles, complete blood count and cortisol levels.
๏Subsequent reproductive performance determined through three
parities (at least 500 gilt/sow records per treatment group).

Summary
๏ผIncreasing litter size increases the proportion of pigs with low-birth
weight phenotypes.
๏ผIn addition to well-documented poorer growth performance and
carcass quality, low-birth weight pigs are programmed in utero such
that reproductive characteristics are adversely affected.
๏ผ Management and husbandry practices to which sows are
exposed may program fetuses such that future growth and
reproduction is impacted.
๏ผStressors during the suckling and nursery phases of production may
have long-term consequences on reproductive efficiency.

Title

performance and longevity in sows
Implications
๏ผLong-term, the low-birth weight pig issue must be addressed
through genetics.
๏ผShort-term, need for nutritional or management strategies that
mitigate at least some of the consequences of fetal programming in
low-birth weight pigs.
๏ผRefine farrowing room and nursery management to consider effects
on future reproduction.
๏ผManage gestating sows to increase welfare.
