- Main points:In 2011, NIAA took on the hard job of developing a national symposium on the use of antibiotics in food animals.There have been divergent opinions across, and within species regarding antibiotic use.The NIAA symposium brought together all food species, scientists, producers, and communicators to begin a dialogue for the common purpose of protecting animal health, human health, and the sustainability of livestock production.
- Main points:13 leading scientists and researchers presented a wealth of information during the two-day symposium.175 leaders in animal production, animal health, human health, and the media participated in the two-day symposium.A White Paper was published as a result o the symposium and is available at www.animalagriculture.org.
