In double lift double cylinder jacquard both cylinders move in opposite direction. Two hooks
that are in opposite direction are connected to a single warp yarn. In this number of needles
are equal to number of hooks i.e. two single lift single cylinder are connected. Speed of
Double Lift Double Cylinder Jacquard is 180ppm(Picks/mint) , It means speed of each
cylinder will be 90ppm(Picks/mint).
If the direction of both the cylinders become same then the recognition of odd or even pick
would have been difficult. This system forms a semi-open shed.
Advantages:
Following are some advantages of Double lift double cylinder system,
1) Higher operating speed,
2) A very long set of cord is to be worked &
3) Less vibrations among the picks when cylinder strikes its respective needle board.
Disadvantages:
The Main disadvantage of this system is that if by chance one cylinder gets ahead of the
other cylinder or is out of the sequence with the other cylinder then a wrong design will be
woven.
