center dedicated to producing high quality propaganda videos. Social media s
circulation of these propaganda videos means that they continue to show up in
news feeds of people who have liked relevant pages or are friends with supporters
or members. These individuals will be influenced more easily and are more likely to
sympathize with what they are seeing since they have previously shown an interest in
ISISand in related groups. This use of social mediais a method that is beyond the
strategical scope of the people fighting ISIS, especially the many government
agencies trying to combat ISIS. This use of newer technology also makes use of the
role that technology plays in the lives of ISIS recruitment demographic. The young
people that ISIS is focused on bringing in are the group that makes the most use of
social media and are the ones for whom social media both is an integral part of their
lives and their main source of information. Where in the past the news may have
reached someone by a newspaper or the evening news on television, now information
and current events are available and transmitted through the internet, and now
increasingly, viewed on social media. The 24 hours news cycle has news being
created constantly, however with the growth and expansion of social media platforms
like Facebook and Twitter, internet users are increasingly getting their news from
their Facebook Timelines and Twitter feeds rather than through news sites. This
means that instead of just
3. Kingdom Of Matthias Themes
In The Kingdom of Matthias by Paul E. Johnson and Sean Wilentz, the story follows
the life of a man named Robert Matthews, who later bestows the name of Matthias (
The Prophet ) to himself. This book demonstrates important themes (and events) that
are prevalent in the 19th century United States, including the War of 1812, the
Market Revolution, the Second Great Awakening, and more. More specifically, this
story communicates and reflects an exaggerated view of those subjects and how it
affected Robert Matthews and Elijah Pierson. The American society during this time
was going through many advancements, including having a market driven culture and
the movement of women s independence. In The Kingdom of Matthias, these ideas
are obvious through the actions of Matthias and how he despised the changes in
society and culture. His actions including treating women poorly, attempting to start
his own religious cult, and his fits of rage and insanity (which I believe are due
mental illnesses and stress). These changes in society caused a negative shift in many
people s lives, including Robert Matthews/Matthias and Elijah Pierson; who also
plays a key role in the story of the cult, the Kingdom. Once more, in The Kingdom of
Matthias, it demonstrates many important U.S. themes of the 19th century in an
exaggerated manner.
Robert Matthews was born in 1788 to a Scots immigrant family, which lived in New
York in a farming neighborhood called the Coila. The family was part of a
4. Memoirs Of Yoroido
In the exposition of the novel Memoirs of a Geisha, a girl named Chiyo grew up in
a little town called Yoroido and got sold to be a geisha. Chiyo lives with her sick
mother, father, and her big sister Satsu. Chiyo was born with an unusual pair of
translucent gray eyes, just like her mother. Somewhere in her life in Yoroido, she
met a person that would change her life forever, his name was Mr. Tanaka Ichiro.
The day when she met Mr. Tanaka Ichiro, Chiyo fell on the ground, lips bleeding,
he tended her lips and called her beautiful, when he said it to Chiyo, she could
almost believe it was true. Afterwards, Chiyo got sold to an okiya, a place where
geishas live. In the okiya, there is Granny, an old women that give the beatings and

One day, Chiyo was on an errand again and when the Chairman saw how Chiyo
was depressed he gave her a handkerchief and inside was money for a cup of shaved
ice. From that moment on she wanted to be a geisha, to meet this man once more.
Chiyo kept the handkerchief in the memories of the Chairman. Mameha visits the
okiya and Mameha tells Mother that she wants to make Chiyo her younger sister
and Mameha makes a bet, if Chiyo manages to repay all her debts by the time she s
twenty, Mother will pay Mameha double everything Chiyo made. But if Chiyo
fails, Mameha will make nothing. At last, the time came when Chiyo prepares for
her debut as a geisha. Chiyo and Mameha perform a ceremony to bind them as
sisters. With the ceremony, Chiyo is given a new name: Sayuri. Even though
Chiyo successfully became an apprentice geisha, Hatsumomo began to appear
everywhere Sayuri does and crashes the party. Mameha introduces Sayuri to Nobu
and Chairman. At last, Chiyo meets the Chairman again Sayuri is so nervous to
again be in the presence Chairman that she pours tea from an empty pot. Sayuri
continues to entertain Nobu and the Chairman and one evening, Nobu gives
Sayuri a gift of an antique hair comb and develop feelings with Sayuri. Mameha has
a plan for Sayuri, she is hoping to encourage a bidding war between Dr. Crab and
Nobu for Sayuri s virginity. Dr. Crab paid record breaking bid of 11,500
5. Scavenger s Good Life Analysis
If someone were to ask what your favorite book was as a kid, what would first
come to mind? Ranging from Where the Wild Things Are to The Very Hungry
Caterpillar to There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, the list is sure to swell
as memories and moments flood back with your favorite pictures and characters
making themselves known. Whatever the book, it s likely everyone has special stories
associated with their childhood, sitting and listening as their imaginations ran wild.
However, I m sure it s not often that these beloved books are revisited past
elementary school, yet it s not rare that their significance still remains. Children s

In the article An illustration of a freelancer s good life , it follows an artist, Robert
Byrd, who planned on being a magazine illustrator, but instead, ended up illustrating
children s books. Byrd describes how he believes children s books offer one of the
greatest form of expression for artists, stretching the imaginations of the creator as
well as the reader (Harbach, 2005). Aside from the technicalities of writing and
illustrating children s books like being aware of the children s market, getting seen,
submitting work to the publishing companies, and succeeding overall, the fulfillment
the job brings is of no measurement. Indeed, artists find themselves able to freely
express themselves through messages, stories, and illustrations while influencing
future generations with their work. Despite the fact that an artist s salary is
lucrative as the website, Society of Children s Book Writers and Illustrators
explains, that s not the ultimately draw. Being a children s book author and illustrator
is a fulfilling and worthwhile career that serves as an outlet for expression as well as
a source of enrichment for youngsters (Smith,
6. The Trouble With Wilderness By Cronon
People in the US have assigned many different meanings to wilderness. Wilderness
can be viewed as a nonhuman world where we can go to survive and escape reality.
Wilderness is an unexplored land that can mean something entirely different for
every individual. For many Americans, wilderness stands as the last remaining
place where we can go and have fun. In America today, people go to the wild, to party
and enjoy their weekend. I ve come to realize that everyone s perspective of
wildernesscomes from media, stories and their personal experiences. As people have
given meaning to wilderness, I also have given wilderness a different meaning.
Wilderness can be viewed as a place of escape where we can go and run away from
our problems. I see wilderness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two views: one that it is a solution to our problematic relationships while
others reason that it s a place where we can go insane. Wilderness in fact has been
seen as a place of youth and childhood, in which we can abandon our past. In
William s Cronon article, The Trouble with Wilderness he talks about how we
escape to the wilderness to forget our past. Cronon states, Seen as the bold
landscape of frontier heroism, it is the place of youth and childhood, into which
men escape by abandoning their pasts and entering a world of freedom where the
constraints of civilization fade into memory (Cronon 427). This quote is a great
representation of how we can see wilderness as a place of escape because we enter
a world of freedom that fade away our problems. The wild is important to have
because it s the last remaining place where we can turn to escape from our own too
muchness. When we enter the wild we are free with no customs to follow. The
wild allows us to be less responsible and free to venture away from society. This
quote has a great connection with my perspective because it s saying that it s a
place of renewal, relaxation and peace. Therefore, wilderness is a place of refuge. No
matter in what perspective we see it, wilderness offers us a refuge that we can use to
escape the cares and troubles of the world, in which our past has trapped us
7. Experimental Data Using Multiple Linear Regression
Abstract: Ignition delay times were measured behind reflect shock waves for the
lean DME/n pentane fuel blends with DME blending ratios from 0% to 100% over
a wide range of conditions: pressures from 2 to 20 atm, temperatures from 1100 to
1600 K and equivalence ratio of 0.5. Correlations of ignition delay times of DME/n
pentane were deduced from the experimental data using multiple linear regression.
Comparison between measured ignition delay times and numerical predictions by
five available kinetic mechanisms, namely NUI Galway pentane isomer model,
JetSurF2.0 model, LLNL n alkanes Model, NUI Galway Mech_56.54 Model and
Wang s DME model, was conducted. NUI Galway pentane isomer model shows good
predictions for ignition delay times of DME, n pentane and their blends which was

8. Solving Poverty In The United States
Solving Poverty Poverty is a major issue in the US today, and sadly identity
influences the cycle of poverty and how it is passed down through families. To
reduce, or put a stop to poverty, equal resource and opportunities should be provided.
Help with education, finding a job, or fair government programs should also be
provided to those who need it. One reason resources and opportunities are unequal is
because povertyis a continuous cycle. In Sachs essay, he states that parents who
lived in poverty often passed down their unhealthy ways to their children (690).
However, Parker goes on to explain how she and her children are malnourished and
the health issues they face, such as anemia and worms (116). These health issues
often lead to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question Why is taxing the rich so hard? has been brought up by several
people including Alyssa Battastoni. She goes on to argue that the rich have a
strong influence over politicians (Battastoni 719). Taxing the rich could be
beneficial to solving poverty, but since they are a big part of campaigning taxing
them is not an option. However, the government can be helpful at times, but they
are often unjust. They do provide workfare and welfare programs to those who
need it, but they are not treated like normal workers and they must follow specific
guide lines. They do not get to choose the hours they work, how much they are paid,
or what their wages go toward (Arnold 344). The programs need to be revised, so
the poor will benefit from them and can better
9. Addams Family Values
Analyse the relationship between childhood and death in Addams Family Values
(1993).
Traditionally there are two ways in which the relationship between childhood and
death has been represented in film. In the first of these the child is positioned as the
powerless and tragic victim of death in line with Romantic ideals of childhood as a
time of innocence of purity. The second common narrative of childhood and death is
an attack on the Romantic idealization of the child , in which the child is the
perpetrator of death. The portrayal of children Addams Family Values would appear
to align with this narrative of the evil child because it depicts Wednesday and Pugsley
scheming to murder their brother. However, I would argue that they do not... Show

Wednesday appears several times in the filmwith dolls on which she enacts the
violence she wishes to enact on Pubert. Dolls are traditionally used as baby
substitutes whom young girls take care of as part of their social conditioning into
the role of motherhood. Wednesday s violent attitude towards dolls reflects
another way in which her relationship with death is a form of rebellion, in this case
a rebellion against prescriptive gender roles, a point I will return to later. One final
example of the relationship between death and play in the film is the trading cards
of schizos and serial killers which Joel and Pugsley play with. I mention this
example here because it demonstrates yet another way in which Addams Family
Values presentation of death as play works to subvert gender stereotypes
surrounding violence, namely in its focus on female killers rather than male.
There are three women shown on the cards, Lizzie Borden, Amy Fisher and the
film s fictional Black Widow , each of whom committed a violent crime at odds with
the public perception of physical violence [as] a masculine form of aggression . That
for the two boys these women s value lies in their violent acts is also transgressive of
expectations for girls to fulfil role of care and
10. Scrutinize Zeno s Dichotomy Paradox
Zeno of Elea is most well known for his series of about 40 different paradoxes of
plurality designed to show that believing in many things rather than just one can
only lead to illogical conclusions. One of the topics he emphasizes on is motion,
more specifically with these paradoxes he attempts to establish that motion is
impossible. Here he describes three different paradoxes one of which is the
Dichotomy paradox. The purpose of this essay is to scrutinize Zeno s Dichotomy
paradox and to see if it properly defends itself against some of the main challenges
that have been raised against it, which I believe Zeno has managed to do. I will
reevaluate Zeno s paradox in comparison to see how well it defends against criticism.
Although some arguments... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mathematics has greatly advanced since the time of Zeno and Aristotle and this has
brought to light another way to counter Zeno s paradoxes. With the creation of
calculus, Zeno s paradox has been more or less resolved. The calculus solution to this
paradox considers the infinite sequence of ВЅ, Вј, 1/8, ..., 1/2^n, which is an infinite
geometric sequence. Geometric sequences have a formula of
∑_(n=1)^в€
ћв–’гЂ–(гЂ– 1/2гЂ—^i )гЂ—=1 were the number of half steps are
balanced out by the increasingly short amount of time needed to journey through
all those distances. However, this is a convergence of an infinite series, which
means that the sum of this can be approximated very closely to one if you add up
enough terms. This mathematical explanation seemed to suffice for a lot of people,
since the sum of all of those terms can be approximated closely enough to a doable
number to justify motion being an actual thing. However, if we take a closer look at
Zeno s paradox, the problem was not that the runner wouldn t get close to the final
point, point B. The problem was that the runner would never actually manage to reach
that final point because no matter how small the distance between the runner and the
final point, the distance can still be divisible by half and therefore there would never
be a final point were the runner would confidentially reach point B. Because the
calculus equation can only approximate very closely to the final point, but never the
actual point, this solution is still not the correct

The Boss Baby DreamWorks Animation created The Boss Baby, directed by
Henden Butoy and Tom McGrath. The Boss Baby is a film that tells the story of
the Templeton family and how a new baby turned their world upside down. The
movie is narrated through the eyes of little Tim. The film uses Tim s overactive
imagination to create his depiction of his own childhood. Tim tells elaborate stories
about how his life is greatly affected by their arrival of the Boss Baby. In The Boss
Baby, Tim transitions from his role as an only child to the role of an older brother
who now has a sibling. One of the prevalent factors in The Boss Baby is the
differences amongst the protagonists, the Boss Baby and Tim. The Boss Baby
requires constant attention, and he

Osteopathic medicine was first introduced by a doctor named Andre Taylor in
Kirksville Missouri during the 1800 s because he noticed that the current medical
practices were not promoting a healthy recovery. ( What is osteopathic, 2017).
Osteopathic medicine emphasizes the incorporation of every system in the body as
well as focusing on the preventive care and allowing the body to heal without
overuse of medication ( Two kinds of, 2015). Osteopathic physicians (DO s) use a
holistic approach when they are interacting with their patient ( What is osteopathic,

background when treating the patient ( What is osteopathic, 2017).

The outer solar atmosphere, the corona, is created by magnetic fields. When the
fields close, the confined solar atmosphere can suddenly violently release bubbles
of gas and magnetic fields. A coronal mass ejection can contain a billion tons of
matter that can move at millions of miles per hour (Solar). Solar energetic particles
are released by shocks at the front of Coronal mass ejections and solar flares. When a
coronal mass ejection flows through the solar wind, high velocity solar energetic
particles are produced. They are charged so they follow the magnetic lines
between the Sun and Earth (Solar). Flow of charged particles called solar wind

Sex, Sensuality and Religion in The Book of Margery Kempe
Baron Richard Von Krafft Ebing, a 19th century German psychiatrist, was quoted as
having said, We find that the sexual instinct, when disappointed and unappeased,
frequently seeks and finds a substitute in religion. This may have been the
condition of Margery Kempe when she desired to cease all sexual activity with her
spouse because of her devotion to God. Instead of performing her duties as a wife,
she chose instead to spread her knowledge of God to her community and did so not
only in speech, but also in literature. Whatever her motivation for creating such
descriptive language, it is evident that her faith in God conquered both her fear of
public opinion and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Book of Margery Kempe we see many instances where she expresses her
religious faith through her senses. For example, evidence of her extreme inspiration
exists in her sense of touch. Like other devotees, primarily male, when she first began
to commune personally with God, she did great bodily penance (20). Along with
wearing a hair cloth beneath her skirt, she also gave herself up to great fasting...
(20). Showing repentance through a willingness to undergo bodily harm was a sign
of true faith, but was not usually exhibited by women to the extent we find it in
Kempe. In addition, after her first personal heavenly message, she renounces sexual
activity with her husband for God, saying she would rather [eat]...the muck in the
gutter than consent to any fleshly communing (20). Although he does not agree to
heed her wishes readily, after many years and fourteen children he agrees to respect
her vow of celibacy. By secretly wearing such a horribly uncomfortable cloth, not
eating, and refraining from sexual contact all decisions which translate the literal
feelings of the physical body to the spiritual she expresses her religious faith through
her senses.
Kempe also experiences spirituality through her hearing. When first she comes to
realize her sinfulness, she hears beautiful music. In fact, it is this music which she
alone can hear which sparks her conversion. In Chapter 3, she says that while in bed
one night, she heard a
15. A Trip To Quan Am Essay
Last Sunday morning, my group and I visited Quan Am, a Vietnamese Buddhist
Monastery in Memphis. Walking in, we were first gestured in the room where we
would perform the ritual. The room was made up of rows of mats and pillows to sit
on, with English chant books on the left, and Vietnamese ones on the right. These
mats and pillows faced an ornate collection of brightly colored statues and artwork
in the front. At first one of the monks told us to open the chant books (there were
only English speakers there while we were participating), and we said the chants
along with him. After the chants, there was a period of meditation which we were
supposed to participate in, and he later talked to the group about various topics
relating to Buddhism.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rhythmic chants put me in a sort of trance; by focusing on the musicality of
the words and saying them with a group of others, I focused on the chants only,
blocking out all other topics. I had a bit of trouble focusing during the meditation
session, as I had trouble staying comfortable and still, but I still enjoyed it
somewhat. We did several chants, a few of which related to teachings that we
learned in class, but the most memorable one was the one line that we were
supposed to repeat 120 times. I stopped saying it partway through, but the leader
and some others persevered through the entire chant. The monk s sermon was
interesting, but he had a very thick accent and he jumped from topic to topic, so it
was a bit challenging to follow sometimes. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, a
wasp was flying around the room during the service, which was a bit distracting for
me, since I am allergic to them. The ceremony and the room itself were more
extravagant than I expected from a Buddhist service, but that could just be my bias
in seeing mostly Tibetan or Zen Buddhist practices as a Westerner. Now I know that
if I need calming and have a Sunday morning free, I can go and worship at Quan
16. Research Paper On Drag Racing
When I was a little girl, I always wanted to drive a race car, just like many members
of my family did. Having gone to the drag races and watching my dad race his
candy apple red Camaro, racing has constantly been a hobby that piqued my
interest. After looking into what it would take to be a race car driver, I discovered
that the top three things it take to be a master racer are your time, your car itself
(and your familiarity with it), and the conditions of the track. Despite popular
belief, driving a drag race car is more than just flooring a gas pedal and hoping to
beat the guy in the other lane; instead, racing is a hobby that calls for great physical
and mental capabilities. Many people who have not watched drag racingwould not
know what someone is referring to when they are talking about a racer s reaction
time. A racer s reaction time is dependent on a few different things. First, it is
important to know that a racer watches a light, sometimes called a Christmas Tree
that has a side for each driver. Each side of the tree has the following lights from
top to bottom: two sets of two yellow bulbs (called the pre stage and stage bulbs),
three amber bulbs that cue the race is about to start, a green light (which signals
when the driver is to go), and a red light (which would signal if the driver has had a
foul start, by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Someone who knows nothing about race cars would have to get very lucky to beat
a veteran driver. Just because a person can floor a gas pedal does not mean that
they will be able to win their race. Drag racing requires much more than one fast
car, for a drag racer must be physically and mentally capable. From my research, I
have found that drag racing is a fascinating and extremely involved hobby. One day,
if you see a purple sparkly race car flying down the race track, you might just have
this report to thank for my newfound

20. Parallels Between Mrs Dalloway and The Hours
The ongoing relationship between the literary movements of modernism and post
modernism is encompassed by the intertextual relationships between Stephen Daldry
s The Hours and Virginia Woolf s Mrs Dalloway . These relationships communicate
the inadequacy of previous writings to convey trauma, cultural crisis and the deep
fragmentation within their respective societies. The immediate context of these
social dialogues creates a clear division between each text, however the intertextual
similarities between minor and major characters create an effective parallel to

slow the agonising sense of immediacy both draws our attention back to clock time

so absurdly slow. As reality is blurred in psychological time, external time
punctuates the novel There! Out it boomed. First a warning, musical, then the hour,

day and every event experienced outside of this timeframe is a figment of a

by traversing time through the consciousness of her characters. These memories
therefore are from a specific point of view and therefore exclude some properties of
the remembered moment and parts of said reality may simply be dissolved in the air
as the memory fades with ongoing time.
Daldry approaches Woolf s tunnelling technique with sensitivity and subtlety in

relentlessness of time. This too creates an illusion of both time and timelessness as

The progressive party promotes quite an aspiration, engaging political, social, and
economic reform. Ted Roosevelt and his supporters triggered a debate about the
future of America. Milkis shows this political battle and revisits a time when a
party was swallowed by it s leader s goals. These goals were kept and then emerged
mass democracy. Milkis shows the members of the Progressive Party as activists
led by TR who dedicate their program to direct democracy, civic duty and rights.

the party and creates the progressive party which remains the most important third
party on the American political landscape(pg2). near the end of the election, TR

King Philips War took place from 1675 1676. This was not a long war, but was
very devastating for both the Native Americans and colonists. This war took place

and colonists during this time (Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 2016). King
Philip wasn t even a king during this war, and there was no involvement from a King

23. Happiness And Emotions In The Poetry Of Blake And
Rossetti
At first read, Blake and Rossetti s fascination with the unity of conflicting emotion
and their tendency to describe human experiences in contradictory terms might be
perplexing. However, there is a reason behind what seems to be madness in the
poetry of these writers. The poetry of Blake and Rossetti leads itself to the assertion
that the human experience is teeming with both joy and agony. Whether someone
lives their life in a state of joy or woe does not depend on whether their experience is
positive or negative, because the human experience is both. Rather, someone s
happiness or sadness through their life depends on whether they choose to orient their
focus to the happiness and joy that exists in the universe or the negative pain that is
just as abundant. Though happiness and sadness take many different forms in the
poetry, in each form, they are as abundant as they are co dependent. Blake and
Rossetti take radical steps to express how related the feelings of joy and woe are in
time and space. In fact, in many places, their poetry subtly suggests that one emotion
cannot occur without the other, and that no situation is complete without elements of
both emotions.
Blake s first unification of the two emotions occurs in his poem, Auguries of
Innocence. Though sadness and joy are not the main topic of the piece, these two
emotions appear multiple times through the poem. Interestingly, they are always
referred to together, as Joy Woe . Never in the poem does Blake
24. The Maya Civilization During The Preclassic Period
It was during the Paleo Indian period when early nomads crossed into the Americas
over 15,000 years ago. These were the First People to inhabit the Americas. They d
first crossed into North America until eventually splitting off from other groups and
eventually migrating south through Mexico into the YucatГЎn Peninsula of
Mesoamerica.
These migrating First People in the Maya region developed their tool and hunting
technologies and went from being nomadic hunter gatherers into forming more
permanent settlements. These settled groups became more developed as they
exploited the plentiful local resources.
These now settled groups progressed into the Archaic period and began advancing
into a more complex society. These archaic settlements developed culture and
technology that was shared with neighboring settled groups. The exchange of ideas
between these groups formed into a shared culture that began developing into a
culturally distinct people.
The Maya Civilization originated in the YucatГЎn region during the Preclassic
Period at around 2000 BC. There is some argument as to when the Preclassic
Period began for the Maya. It s argued to have began as late as 2600 BC, while
there s claim that it s earlier because there are permanent Maya settlements along the
Pacific coast that date to 1800 BC. A difference of eight hundred years, depending on
region.
The Preclassic period begins where the first signs that the Maya can be recognized as

The film Amazing Grace tells the story of William Wilberforce a member of the
English Parliament in the late 18th century and the early 19th, with emphasis on his
passionate pursuit of abolishing the slave trade in England. This pursuit began in
earnest after having an encounter with God, which caused him to deliberate whether
to continue in politics or follow become a monk and live a life of solitude. John
Newton the priest of his childhood and the author of the song Amazing Grace
convinced him to serve God by serving in Parliament. I recommend this movie to

how to serve God while working outside of ministry. Two themes with a total of five
questions have been posed that relate to this movie and to life in general.

Philosophy
Philosophy started when human beings started to ask questions, about how and what
things are actually, due to curiosity. The things that caused these questions to come
about were the people started to realize that everything isn t exactly what it appears
to be. Philosophy started in the town of Miletus, many early philosophers came from
here. The philosophers started their work around 585 B.C. Thales, one of the early
Miletus philosophers, left no writings behind, all we know about him is memorable
incidents recorded by later writers. He lived between 624 and 546 B.C. His unique

Pythagoras, from the small island of Samos, brought new philosophic theories.
Pythagoras followers were called Pythagoreans, they devoted themselves to
mathematics. Pythagoreans, while unlike Miletus philosophers, believed everything
consist of numbers. Pythagoras biggest philosophical contribution was the concept
of form. Form to them meant limit and they saw it best shown in music and
medicine. In both of these, harmony is the central fact, and taking into account
proportions and limits achieve it. The greatness of Pythagoras and his followers is
shown by the influence they had on later philosophers. Many later philosophers tried
to explain change, the first Heraclitus. Heraclitus main belief was that all things are
in flux or everything is in constant change. He described this change process as a
unity in diversity. He thought the thing changing was fire. He believed fire to be the
basic reality and thought he discovered the principle of change itself. Paramenides, a
younger contemporary of Heraclitus, founded the Eleatic school of Philosophy. His
major philosophical contribution was a radical interpretation of change. He rejected
Heraclitus theory of change as unity and diversity also criticized the Miletus
philosophers explanations bout the origin of things. Paramenides rejected the thought
of change, believing change

portrays itself in a non loving manner in many situations. Defining racism specifically
proves itself difficult, but according to definition, Racism is a belief that race is the
primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences
produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Harper Lee writes a relatable
depiction of this belief in To Kill A Mockingbird

appears throughout the book showing itself in the relationship between Aunt
Alexandria and Calpurnia, the hatred shown towards Tom Robinson, and also the
discrimination shown to Helen Robinson. Jesus says in Mark 12:31b, Love your

Q1:
The main pathway of color vision is as following: light⇒photoreceptor⇒ bipolar
cell ⇒Ganglion cell⇒ LGN ⇒ cortex⇒ extracortex. Here I will stress some key
points of color vision.
1)photoreceptors ( mainly cones, because rods are sensitive to low light level and
blind to color) absorb light, and through photochemical reactions transfer solar
energy to electrical energy which can be indirectly displayed as action potential of
cells. There are three cones: L, M, S cones respectively. L cones are responsible to
long wavelength; M for middle wavelength; and S for short wavelength. The
typical receptive field of cones is center and surround pattern. For example, on
center Receptive Field will maximally activate if the surrounding was dark and
center was light on; the reverse is true for the off center RF. There are two
complementary theories of color vision: One of them is the dominant and popular
trichromatic theory, which argues that three types of cones (L, M, S) are sufficient
to code the color vision. However, Hering raised a different theory color opponent
theory. He argued that there were four elemental colors (R,Y, G, and B) not three.
He also noted the pairing of R G, and of B Y. Three cone types provides input to two
different color opponent ganglion cells. For example, the opponent neuron that
produces the neural response we see as red or green gets excitation from the L cones
and inhibition from the M cones. When the L cones are more active than the M

32. Treatment of Therapeutic Hypothermia
When is the best time to start cooling?
Basically, the treatment of therapeutic hypothermia can be separated into three parts:
induction, maintenance and rewarming (Walters et al., 2011). The process of
hypothermia induction if often questioned. Is there an optimal time to begin mild
therapeutic hypothermia that brings the most benefit? The data from the past
experiments suggest that mild therapeutic hypothermia should be commenced within
a short time from clinical comprehensive evaluation that suggests patient s eligibility
for this type of a treatment. Various animal studies suggest that early cooling
becomes superior to delayed cooling because of its benefits on general outcome after
suffering cardiac arrest (Janata Holzer, 2009). According to Wolff et al. (2009),
successful and early achievement of mild therapeutic hypothermia is one of the main
elements contributing to the final neurological outcome. Therefore, the need for
implementing new measures appears to be more than natural. In this experiment,
there were forty nine consecutive patients that were treated with mild hypothermia
after suffering cardiac arrest. A closed loop endovascular system proved to be the
most suitable choice for achievement of rapid body cooling while allowing more
precise control of mild therapeutic hypothermia. While the researcher team examined
the correlation between the different time intervals of hypothermia achievement, it
also closely monitored levels of neurone specific enolase,

In recent years, midwifery and obstetrics have become two of the most prominent
and primary ways of care for women of childbearing age in comparison to
unassisted births and other documented methods. Although midwifery is not as
prevalent as obstetrics, there is a rise in midwifery today. In the United States
women and their partners are faced with the choice of who should provide care
before, during and after pregnancy. As of today there has been a rise in how many
births are attended by nurse midwives than it was a quarter of a century ago but the
number of births attended by an obstetrician gynecologist (OBGYN) is still
significantly higher. Faced with either option, OBGYN or nurse midwife, women of
childbearing age are not adequately informed or are misinformed on their choices
when it comes to each specialty. This paper explores the issue of women being
thoroughly informed on their birth options and on which provider is necessary. This
paper also compares the two professions, midwifery and obstetricsin the realm of
pregnancy, pregnancy care and childbirth. This examination of professional practices
for pregnant women points out the limitations of each obstetrician gynecologists and
their attendance in low risk pregnancies and deliveries and suggests the need for
midwives more than ever.

34. A Comparison Of Malcolm X Vs. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Civil Rights movement in the 1960 s birthed the most prominent figures in the
battle against racism in the United States. Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. are
immortalized as the men who stood up and spoke out during the most crucial time in
US History for African American activism. Though often brought up in the same
vein, the two had complete opposite ideology about how to reach equality. Their
influence created many prominent groups in the 60s against mistreatment of African
Americans, including the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee(SNCC).
According to the name of this group, they were a nonviolent team of young black
activists that stemmed from MLK s Southern Christian Leadership Conference
(SCLC). Apparent in their name, they shared the same peaceful approach as MLK,
but over time and as the hardships of the movement began to callous the young group
they shifted towards the by any means necessary approach of Malcolm X. Through
the excerpts in Takin it to the Streets, one can see the stark difference between
Malcolm X s more aggressive approach, MLK s loving approach, and the SNCC
shifting its views over time but always maintaining a steadfast commitment to the
cause and a youthful bravado. Martin Luther King Jr. is a household name. He
became a martyr, known for exclusively preaching about love and dreams of
equality. MLK was impassioned and eloquent and palatable enough for white people.
He never wavered from the idea that the resolution to

Globalisation is a broad term that is often defined in economic factors alone. The
Dictionary at merriam webster.com describes globalisation as the process of
enabling financial markets to operate internationally, largely as a result of
deregulation and improved communication. Also due to deregulation on the
financial market, multi national companies are free to trade and move their
businesses to areas where a higher return or profit can be achieved. New technology
also enables companies to relocate to areas where labour costs are lower, for
instance movement of call centre jobs from the UK to India. Lyons (2006) suggests

There have been implications on social work practice a result of globalisation. Due
to a greater availability of rapid transport it has become easier to cross borders. This
brings new social problems for the profession such as human trafficking and
migration of asylum seekers and refugees from war torn countries, creating a greater
demand on services. The Commonwealth of Australia report (2007) indicates that
since civil war broke out in Sudan in 1956, nearly two million people have been

Refugees, asylum seekers and UASC are terms which are often used interchangeably
but have different legal definitions (Ruxton, 1996). For the purpose of this
assignment it is important to differentiate between these terms. A refugeeis a person
owing to a well founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion,
nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside
the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to
avail himself of the protection of that country... (Article 1 of the United Convention of

a cause of the inability to interpret the differences between reality and illusion.
Through the lies, gossip, and empty speech of characters, F. Scott Fitzgerald
highlights the way that people treat each other when they do not understand the
difference between reality and illusion. The belief to keep up appearances in high
society leads to numerous empty gestures and rude encounters throughout the novel.
Tom Buchanan and the Sloanes invite Gatsby out to lunch with them, but it is an
insincere invitation. In reality the Sloanes and Tom do not want Gatsby to attend
lunch with them, but they feel obliged to invite him since it is the expected gesture

lunch is just a gesture, not a real invitation and politely declines the invite. Once
Tom realizes that Gatsby is actually planning on going to lunch he is extremely
perplexed telling Nick, Doesn t he know [Mrs. Sloane] doesn t want him? (104).
Everyone besides Gatsby seems to understand that the invitation is only a gesture, and
since he does not, the Sloanes avoid his attempts to come by being rude and leaving

...
Networking is required to make accessible communication between computers
possible by a network connection. Networking allows for many possibilities, such as
accessing the internet, file sharing, file transferring and system communication.
Throughout this assignment I will be attempting to provide information to facilitate
the introduction of a new computer networklinking all of IT D s premises.
In order to do this I intend to analyse the options available to assess which one, in my
opinion is their best option in terms of both network system and topologies.
Networking System Types
There are two types of networks; peer to peer and client server. I will discuss both
networks in detail before explaining which network I believe would work best for IT
D s.
Peer to peer (p2p)
A peer to peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and
share resources without going through a separate server computer. This is a special
kind of network type ( Network topology ). It describes computers that are networked
to each other without a central server being in between.
Peer to Peer networks are very popular with people who want to share files directly
with one another. The files do not have to be stored on a central server. Software
has been developed that can even put together a file from bits of the file stored
across several peers on the network. For example Torrent programmes can do this.
The advantage is that no single computer needs to be over loaded

performs more and more astounding acts. What if I told you that Nala the tiger is
starved, beaten, tortured into submission? What if I told you that every night, Freddy
the elephant is chained in a metal cage, his sanity slipping into the darkness? Would
you be laughing then?
Good morning parents and teachers and welcome to the 2017 School Ethics Forum.
Today I will focus on two compelling ethical reason why the horrific treatment of
animals in circuses is morally repulsive. One, circus animals suffer fatal injuries
during training. Two, the unnatural restrictions of circus life have a devastating
impact on the animals mental health.
Firstly, the fatal injuries inflicted on animals in circuses is a direct violation of the
ethical principle of harm. Starvation, whips, muzzles, bull hooks, electric pods.
These torture devices favoured by circus animal trainers inflict pain and instill terror
in innocent animals until they unquestioningly obey every single command. Simple
and effective, and cruel, evil and sadistic. How can a trainer listen to harrowing
screams of excruciating pain and continue to whip the animal again and again? What
kind of heartless monster can watch the soul, the very life drain from a living being
and not stop? At every show, Nala the tiger leaps through a ring of fire. Tigers

43. C. S. Lewis, Sigmund Freud, And Simone De Beauvo
Modernity brought upon the idea of the modern man and what that entails.
Modernism could be seen as a shift in thought towards logic and rational away from
traditional thought. The shift from previous conditions to modern conditions is a
result of a change in the state of societal changed where certain aspects like cultural
movements, technology, and knowledge were present to restructure their
industrialized world. The process of progress leads to the past being scrutinized even
further and seen in light of a more primitive time. C.S. Lewis, Sigmund Freud, and
Simone De Beauvoire dealt with the essence of the mindof modernity. The mind of
modernity is a seen as a state of progress, a departure from traditional thoughtfor the

Modernism changed the scene of thought and brought advances in the world that has
given reason to its distinctive status as a period of intellectual thought. Modernity and
its shift in thought has given rise to what we would call modern and this reference
point is crucial when evaluating the direction man is heading in intellectual thought
and society as a
44. The Bravery of Nelson Mandela
For to be free is not merely to cast off one s chains, but to live in a way that respects
and enhances the freedom of others (Newsone.com, 2011). Bravery is a phrase
topped up with numerous connotations. Bravery is to stand your ground and gaze
worry in the face and overcome the unrealistic. One will not face their fears or
display anyone can be a champion, but it is the brave and audacious hearted actions
of an individual that divides them from other amateurs that cannot fit the recount. Not
anything in life is free or arrives without trying. In alignment to be brave, a person
should have courageous, persistent, and honest Nelson Mandela, the previous leader
of South Africa, did not choose to take an easy walk to flexibility. Mandela... Show

Like any other citizen seeing their people being mistreated, The injustice infuriated
Mandela and catapulted him into action ( Winfrey, 2001). Nelson Mandela and
other actvists fought long and hard against this discrimination
(NelsonMandelas.com, 2012) . He had to endure the impossible to maintain the
justice in his country. Mandela s country was his main priority, he wanted to get
rid of all racial discrimination. Mandela was part of the ANC. The African
Nationwide Congress which was South Africa s national liberation movement. But
unlike other activists instead of enduring violence as a mean of unity he chose a
different route. For this exact cause, Nelson Mandela was highly regarded and a
figure for the South African people. Brian Walden had this to say In the revolution
led by Mandela to transform a model of racial division and oppression into an open
democracy, he demonstrated that he didn t flinch from taking up arms, but his real
qualities came to the fore after his time as an activist (Brink, 1998). Mandela wasn t
the type to person to kill or hurt anyone, he believed strictly peaceful protest, he used
wisdom and bravery to explain his problem.
The moment the ANC was ostracised then Mandela searched to execute activity and
to halt the injustice. Over his 27 years in jail, Nelson Mandela became the symbol of
an entire people s struggle against injustice
45. Child Poverty Is A Harsh Condition
Children in Poverty in Las Vegas
Poverty is a harsh condition which is relentless at any given age. The difference
among poverty in children and poverty in adults is that poverty in children could
leave effects impacting the children for the rest of his life. Southern Nevada,
specifically the Las Vegas Valley has one of the highest rates in children povertyof
the nation. According to Talkpoberty.org in the state of Nevadaitself, one in every
four kids live in poverty. The issue of child poverty is one which the majority of
Nevadans don t take into consideration. Child poverty is an issue which affects the
children in all aspects of his life and leaving life lasting impacts.
For more than a decade the state of Nevada has struggled with the issue of poverty
in general, furthermore it has majorly struggled with the issue of child poverty.
Ever since the recession of 2008 we have seen increments in the number of poverty
in general, in which more children continue to seem affected. Furthermore the
poverty levels seem to continue to increase The number of children living in
poverty in Nevada is at 23 percent, up from 15 percent in 2008 (Rise in Poverty).
The high levels of unemployment in parents seem to be the most influential issue
that sets families under the poverty line. Similarly the number of children whose
parents lack stable jobs has risen 6 points to 32 percent (Rise in Poverty).
Children seem to be greatly affected by poverty in the academic aspect. Kids are
46. Caliban Slavery
When reading The Tempest you notice that the only colored person we come
across is Caliban and of course he is not free but he is a slave. Caliban has a
horrible life and isn t treated well. Caliban can relate to the African slavery that went
on during the 15th to 19th century. Slavery was an extremely powerful thing that
went on earlier in history even though it was a horrible thing to do. Slaverywas a way
to keep lower class people and the upper class people away from each other and
different by having the lower class serve the upper classes. As well as when Native
Americans were forced into American indoctrination, they were forced to believe
and do as they were told and weren t so free anymore even though they were in their
lands. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Native Americans and African slaves make up Caliban very well because he in a
way was those two combined. All these different people were treated badly even
though the lands were their homes too, they were forced to work for others and to
give up their lands even though they might have been in their families for multiple
generations. At least today we no longer face many of these problems. Even though
Native Americans still don t have their lands they used to have before they have their
reservations which is better than nothing especially since people that aren t from their
tribe can t stay
48. Serial Killer Vs Mass Murderer
Introduction
The most outrageous thing someone can do is murder someone else David green
Serial Killer is basically an individual having sociopathic personality who show
absence of internal control, guilt or having conscience to control his behavior but has
an excessive will to dominate another individual. Definitely he has an ability to
differentiate between right and wrong but still neglects every wrong committed by
him. Main motive of a serial killer is to seek and find inner satisfaction or to complete
their fantasy. There can be two types of fantasies i.e. conscious fantasy and
unconscious fantasy which will be discussed further.
Starting initially primary motive is to find that why any individual would wish to kill

relationships. Often exposed to abuse and neglect as children, these murderers
become fascinated with fantasy related to sex and violence. Further which leads him
to become insensitive to the welfare of others.

the culprits. Theorists have proposed that serial killer harbors some deep hatred
toward all women due to underlying hate for some significant female in his life. In
psychological terms this is often referred to as displaced
49. Emergency Radiology Research Paper
Do you ever wonder how radiation was discovered? Or when it was discovered? It
all started in 1895, when Wilhelm Roentgen discovered x rays. Six years later, he
was honored with the first Nobel Prize in Physics; by then, doctors were already
using primitive x rays to diagnose illnesses(Men s Health watch 1). The collaboration
between physicians and physicists has continued ever since, resulting in amazing
advances far beyond Roentgen s wildest dreams. Physicists tell us that ionizing
radiation delivers energy in the form of photons that pack enough oomph to strip
electrons away from the nuclei of atoms(1). We are continuously exposed to tiny
amounts of ionizing radiation from cosmic rays and naturally occurring radioactive
elements here on earth. We accept this so called background radiation without
blinking an eye, but we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Results often determine if an admission occurs, to which service the patient is
admitted, and if there is any immediate emergency or surgical intervention. Real time
diagnostic imaging of the patient in the ED can expedite patient care and ultimately
reduce costs. The emergency radiology facility has become the hospital s acute
diagnostic imaging centre. The emergency radiology division of today is unique in its
physical design, equipment, staffing, information systems, and operations.Designing
the emergency radiology facility today requires proper planning to optimize
workflow, as summarized in Table 2. For example, radiology should be centrally
located for maximal accessibility to physicians and patients from multiple clinical
services. The selection of imaging equipment is important to best accommodate the
expected volume unique to one s ED. At our institution, we have optimized our
imaging equipment to meet volume demands of acute care. Multidetector CT
scanners in the ED enable total body trauma scans, including CT angiograms of the
head, neck, and extremities. The latest technologies for dose
