Problem Essay Examples
Writing an essay on the topic of "Problem Essay Examples" can be a challenging endeavor that
requires careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The difficulty lies in the need to identify,
articulate, and analyze various problems effectively while providing concrete examples to
support the arguments.
Firstly, selecting suitable problems to address in the essay requires a keen understanding of the
chosen subject matter. This involves extensive research to identify relevant issues and their
impact. Once the problems are identified, the challenge is to delve into the complexities and
nuances surrounding each issue. It is not merely about stating problems but also about exploring
the root causes, consequences, and potential solutions.
Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay demands the ability to organize thoughts logically
and present a compelling narrative. The writer must carefully structure the introduction to grab
the reader's attention and introduce the chosen problems. The body of the essay should delve
into each problem separately, providing in-depth analysis and supporting evidence. Transitioning
smoothly between different problems while maintaining a cohesive flow is crucial.
In addition, offering concrete examples to illustrate the identified problems adds another layer of
difficulty. The writer needs to find relevant and impactful examples that not only support their
arguments but also resonate with the reader. Ensuring the examples are diverse and
representative of the broader context requires additional effort.
Furthermore, proposing viable solutions or suggesting ways to address the problems adds
complexity to the essay. The writer must showcase a deep understanding of the subject matter to
present practical and well-reasoned solutions. Striking the right balance between identifying
problems and offering solutions is essential to leave a lasting impression on the reader.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Problem Essay Examples" necessitates thorough research,
effective organization, and the ability to present compelling arguments with concrete examples.

Effects of Temperature on Catalase Activity Essay examples
Effects of Temperature and pH on Catalase Activity
INTRODUCTION
Enzymes are organic catalysts that spur metabolic reactions. The presence of an
enzyme within a cell is essential in order for any sort of reaction to take place. All
enzymes are complex proteins that act in an organism s closely controlled internal
environment. In such a homeostatic environment, the temperature and the pH
(concentration of hydrogen ions), remain within a fairly narrow range. Extreme
variations in pH and temperature denature the enzyme by altering its chemical
structure, thus adversely affecting the chemical reaction. As even the slightest change
in the protein s structure will change the enzyme s shape enough to prevent the
formation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately after removing the tubes, hydrogen peroxide was added to each tube
up to the second (5 cm) mark. They were then swirled to mix, and after fifteen
seconds, the bubble columns in each vile were measured in millimeters, and then
recorded in a data table. The procedure for analyzing pH levels was rather different.
The three test tubes, marked at three different levels, were each filled to the first
mark (1cm) with catalase, and to the second mark (3 cm) with water. However, the
pH of the water had been adjusted differently for each vile. The first tube received
water adjusted to pH three, the second received water adjusted to pH seven, and
third received pH eleven. Consequently, each tube was then filled to the last mark (7
cm) with hydrogen peroxide, swirled to mix and then observed after twenty seconds.
After twenty seconds passed, the bubble columns of each of he tubes were measured
in millimeters. Results were recorded on a chart.
RESULTS As expected, during the temperature test, the least amount of bubbles were
emitted in tubes that had been exposed to extreme heat. The tube placed in boiling
water yielded zero millimeters of bubbles. The boiling water denatured the enzyme
and altered its chemical structure rendering it incapable of undergoing metabolic
reactions. For these same reasons, the vile placed in a hot bath, containing water at
85 degrees, produced only one
Modernist Painting By Clement Greenberg
In his essay, Modernist Painting (1960), Clement Greenberg seeks to lay principles
for evaluating the progression of art to modern painting. Greenberg makes a lot of
evaluations and assessments about modern paintings that are credible and can be
held to a high standard. Despite his best efforts, some of his assertions are shrouded
in generalizations and lack the necessary premises to be established as entirely
objective and affirmative. Greenberg claims that the Old Masters created space one
could imagine walking into and experience, but modern painters, on the other hand,
create space only accessible to the visual senses, eye. His observations regarding
these Old Masters is undeniable for the most part, but his assertions on modern
paintings brings up a lot of controversy.
To question Greenberg, one must first understand how the representation of depth of
space evolved over time. The full range of this evolution cannot be mapped in this
essay, thus only relevant and specific ones will be discussed. Dating back to the 16th
century, the Renaissance painters saw a heightening of perspective painting. By
imitating how distant and close objects appear to the eye, the optical illusion of
space is created by a geometric representation of unfolding space. Rafael s Marriage
of the Virgin, 1504 (fig.1) is a prominent paragon to reflect on regarding this
technique. With defined lines and patterns leading to the doorway of the background
building, Rafael gives the audience a sense
Construction Of Roads For Black Cotton Soil
INTRODUCTION :
Construction of roads in black cotton soil areas has been problematic due to their
low bearing capacity and the detrimental effects of volume instability arising from
swelling and shrinkage characteristics of such soils during wet and dry seasons.
Such problems assume greater acuteness where the water table is high and clayey
subsoil stratum is thick.
A Perfect example of a case history study can be considered from Gudivada
Bantumilli State Highway, which passes through a plain terrain surrounded with
paddy fields, and constructed on a black cotton soil embankment of 3mts height. The
entire stretch of the road is located in the delta region of Godavari and Krishna
rivers, of the south eastern part of India. The pavement on the embankment was in a
state of extreme distress. Lateral shift and settlement in embankment were the
common soil failure features observed. TWO METHODOLOGIES USING LIME :
Method 1 Injection of Lime Slurry
Method 2 Placement of Lime Piles
Method 1 : To verify the efficacy of the technique, laboratory experiments were
conducted at Central Road Research Institute
India on a test embankment of 2.5m x 2.0m x 2.5m made from the locally available
silty soil having a dry density of 16 kN/m2. Lime slurry was injected in one side of
the embankment. The injected lime contained 30% lime by weight in the mixture of
lime water.

A Language, Not Quite Spanish, With African Echoes
1. In which region and in what country is San Basilio located? What is the language
of the linguistic minority in this region? What are the cultural advantages of being in
this linguistic minority?
Answer: San Basilio is located in the Caribbean region of Columbia. The language
spoken is Palenquero. The cultural advantages of being in this linguistic minority are
that they are closer knit with everyone in the community. Everyone within the
community speaks the same language and will always be able to understand
everyone else.

Are there any cultural disadvantages of speaking the majority language? If so,
describe them. If not, why not?
Answer: Most people if not all speak Palenquero in this country. Cultural advantages
of speaking this language are that they are able to communicate with all residents of
San Basilio. Unfortunately, they also face disadvantages such as jobs. Being that
they are typically the only ones who speak this language, getting jobs aren t easy. Not
only do they not have enough for everyone to gain within the community so not they
must look elsewhere outside of the community. They are discriminated because of the
language they speak when trying to get a job outside of San Basilio.
5. What tangible cultural evidence might support the social disadvantages of the lived
experience of being in the majority group? And the minority group?
Answer: Cultural evidence that might support the social disadvantages of the lived
experience of being in the majority group is that they may not be enough jobs to go
around, conflict in interest may come easy, and they aren t able to effectively
communicate with others. For minority groups there s more of a chance that they
will be looked down on just for being within a minority group. Also, newer
generation that may not speak the native language will be separated in order to get a
better life/job.

Jonathan Spence s The Death Of Woman Wang
Chinese women have historically retained highly circumscribed roles and statuses
that rendered them inferior to their male corollaries. The gender status quo was
predicated on a definition of gender as a cultural construct that is performed rather
than rooted in biology. Throughout Chinese history, the women s role in the family
was paramount as conceptualized by the concept of Yin and Yang. While men are
associated with Yang, the darker and robust force, while Yin represented the cooler
and passive femaleforce. As such, the Chinese ascribed to the separate spheres
ideology which relegated women to the private sphere within the home while the
public sphere was a male preserve. Jonathan Spence s The Death of WomanWang

this fictitious story reveals how the intersectionality of class and gender

mores in imperial China. This episode paves the way for a meaningful discussion
about the plight of women in traditional Chinese society. The sordid death of

Suppose George decide to produce X bottles of Brand I and Y bottles of Brand II
Then the total profit function to be maximised is [pic]
Total amount required is [pic].
Hence the constraint on the funds becomes C1: [pic]
Further it is given that the proportion of Brand I should be between 40% and 60%.
The corresponding constraint becomes [pic] This can be expressed as two constraints

Essay on The Politics of Going Green
Sustainability, as it pertains to the environment, seems like an idea that would
appeal to everyone. The idea of conserving what we have, reusing what we can, and
developing new ways to more efficiently use our planet s limited recourses just
seems like common sense to me. Unfortunately, our representatives in Washington
D.C. have used environmentalism as a way to gain votes and divide the electorate.
Responsible management of our planet has become as widely debated as gay
marriage or religion in the schools. Like most social issues, sustainability has ardent
supporters and determined critics. Global warming has become the spotlight for both
sides of the battle over sustainability in American politics. Supporters of... Show more

On that day some 20 million Americans throughout the country held peaceful
demonstrations favoring environmental reforms. The year ended with the creation of
the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on December 2, 1970.The EPA is
charged with establishing and enforcing environmental protection standards,
conducting environmental research, assisting others in combating environmental
pollution, and recommending new environmental protection policies to the
President (Lewis). The short Carter administration s energy policy highlighted
funding for solar energy and the continuation of Nixon policies. As the
environmental decade came to close and the Carter administration ended in 1981,
the new President shifted attention and funding elsewhere. The left praised Reagan
for his environmental record as governor of California but after entering the oval
office Reagan quickly began undoing much of the environmental progress of the
last decade. In his first year in office Reagan proposed a 25 percent cut in funding
for the EPA. Reagan was quoted saying trees cause more pollution than automobiles
do, and if you ve seen one tree you ve seen them all (Little). I, along with most
Americans, easily get frustrated when politicians change their views just so they will
get elected. The example of Reagan changing his stance on energy use to

People In Prisons
The first point of the article is that too many people (6 million) are in prisons in
this country. These people are not productive, are in a state of watchful paranoia
anxiety and boredom and fear mixed into an enveloping fog, where they are locked

The first (Northern) argument was that strict laws and harsh sentences would reform
lawbreakers. Our system with the Bill of Rights emphasizes process and procedure
rather than principles and has become very impersonal. People do not want to
personally inflict punishment; the system has that job. Once the procedure ends, the
penalty begins, and, as long as the cruelty is routine, our civil responsibility towards
the punished is over. The second (Southern) argument is that it was a way to
continue white supremacy. In the 1960 s, mass imprisonment was a way of
continuing Jim Crow laws. Young black men pass quickly from a period of police
harassment into a period of invisible control .
The third argument is an economic issue stating that corporations now operate many
prisons for profit.
My idea on his second argument is that most people understand the idea of
punishment for a crime, but most people do not want to be the one inflicting
punishment. We also do not want to encourage racism. I do not believe that
corporations funding lobbyists and influencing laws should operate prisons for
Pre Surgery Procedure
When deciding if a patient is a good candidate for surgery, a number of
considerations need to be taken. Can the patient safely undergo the surgery? Will
the benefits of this surgery outweigh the negatives? For instance, if a patient is
elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical cost to undergo the
surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what precautions
must be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). In all
cases, it is crucial to have a detailed medical history of the patient. Several pre
surgery precautions need to be followed in order to minimize risk during surgery. The
patient undergoing surgery should have an empty stomach. There is a high risk of
regurgitation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A
needle is used to penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The
needles most often used in this type of surgery are curved. The curvature of the
instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up the area without intrusion of the
underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the needle s journey
through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and insures
proper angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the
suture are used to create a proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug
against the tissue, not too tight and not too loose, so that proper healing is
accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut with a suture scissor. Sutures may
either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted suture is the most
universal technique used for wound closure. Both absorbable and non absorbable
sutures are routinely used in oral surgery. Once the wound is fully closed, the
patient s surgery is complete and the healing process can begin. It is important that
proper pain control medication is provided post operatively so the patient is more
comfortable during this time. The prescriber should be aware of the addictive
properties in opioids and prescribe the correct type of analgesic accordingly to the

A Vicious Cycle
Another topic often overlooked in discussions of the sort is parallels that of
discussed previously, and it is the idea of a vicious cycle. If a country continues to
think that it needs to be more powerful to prevent an imminent attack, this toxic
mentality tends to lead to more issues than normal. This mindset is a form of
determinism that serves no other purpose than to perpetuate the need for more and
more weapons, similar to the point made above arguing against the idea of MAD.
As stated by Brian Kester, [a] perceived threat is more likely to provoke a violent
reaction if the people threatened feel they can strike with impunity, and space
weaponswould add significantly to the feeling of American impunity. This echoes
ethical considerations regarding vulnerability and helps to show that the cycle of
continually doing more and more may not always be the best policy for a nation.
Superiority may be a nation s most damning weakness if, in it, comes a spirit of
arrogance and apathy for others. The political considerations associated with placing
weapons in space is also not something that should be taken lightly. As mentioned
before, several acts of legislation both at the worldwide (United Nations) and country
level have been put in place to try and maintain the neutrality and peacefulness of
space, such as the Treaty of Outer Space. Thus, to say politics is not intertwined with
this decision would be a grossly misinformed stance. From the United States
perspective,

Summary Of Alena Semuels The Reality Of Paying For

The Reality of Paying For College This argument analysis paper examines the
article, Manual Labor, All Night Long: The Reality of Paying for College written
by Alena Semuels in 2015. This article discusses how different types of students use
different resources to pay for college. It also examines how working while in college
can affect a students grades and whether or not they graduate. Alene Semuels is a
writer for The Atlantic, and formerly wrote for The Los Angeles Times, Boston

was to inform college students and the public about opportunities to work while in
college. Also it shows college students that working a full time job might not be the
wisest thing to do while attending college full time. When this article was written,
there was a new trend beginning to arise. In 2015, Georgetown Universitydid a study
of students who worked while in college. They found that 70 percent of students were
employed while in college and 25 percent of those students are working full time
while simultaneously going to college full time. Both the Chicago Tribune and

Lead Essay Chemistry
The element I decided to do was lead. Lead was used many years before and it is still
used a lot today. Lead is still very useful and is found in many things that were used
a long time ago and things we still use today. Lead is a very poisonous element that
can really harm your skin and your body. Since leadis very toxic, it s not

Lead was used by the Romans for water pipes, aqueducts, tank linings, and cooking
pots. In the 21st century, lead remains a cornerstone of society. Ancient scientists
used it in cosmetics, paints, pigments, and in lead rich glazes. The chemical
properties in lead is what makes it a thoroughly modern metal. Lead s chemical

Progression Of Photography Essay
Click, click, click, BOOM as the camera fell into the ground. I start to wonder what
it was like back in the old ages as television steamed from photography. Since the
beginning of time, pictures have always been a way to tell stories. When people
want to get a better idea of a story being told, they either have to look at a
photograph or create one in their head to fully understand what is going on. For this
paper I will explore the progression of photographyas it relates to television and radio
to prepare me a reporter and freelance photography.
Photography is a word originated from the Greek words photos ( light ) and graphein

It is also use as a way to tell stories whether it uses by itself or as stills photos in

be landscape or self portrait that allows the photographer to have more gives the
photographer more flexibility with the photos.
In television stills photos are shoot for all the important publicity photos for
marketing the show. According to Angus Young there are three stages for stills
photos in the television world and they are Episodic, Press shot, and Behind the
Scenes.
Episodic are images that relates to a particular episode. These photos will convey
an interesting angle on an individual episode or story thread. Episodic images are
often used online and in print along side TV guides or on the TV show or
Broadcaster s web sites. (Young 2011)
Press Shots are the images that will be used for posters, web sites and advertising
of the whole show or series. Often they re rather simple and can be shot separate to
the filming of the show on a specials shoot which is a dedicated publicity shoot with
the key cast of the show. (Young

included. Enzymes developed from the peroxidase that is obtained from the different
roots reacts with the hydrogen peroxide, which releases H2 and water. The extra
hydrogen is indicated by the color change of the solution that is used to measure the
rate of enzyme activity. When the rate of enzyme activity was high, the activity

when the rate of enzyme activity was low during the roots development, sucrose was

of acid invertase. Radish roots proved to have the rate of enzyme of activity remained
high until maturity and showed to not have considerable amounts of sucrose. In
addition, radish roots can be seen to have similar rate of enzyme activity when
compared to the turnip roots because these roots also maintained a high enzyme
activity until maturity and did not have considerable amounts of sucrose. Both roots,
as a result, reduced sugars being the main reserve. Through the experiment having to
do with sugar accumulation and invertase activity during the development of turnip
and radish roots, it was observed that these matured roots consumed higher amounts
of reducing sugars than sucrose (Ricardo, 1974). In addition, similar changes in sugar
content to the turnip roots, invertase activity and dry weight were also detected

The fifth cranial nerve out of 12 is known as the trigeminal nerve. Cranial nerves
are located in the brain and each have a different function. The trigeminal nerve is
located in between the oculomotor nerve and the facial nerve. The trigeminal nerve
performs sensor functions that involve the teeth, tongue, nose, and eyes and is
covered by a myelin sheath. A myelin sheath is the protective coating that is
usually found around nerves. Trigeminal neuralgia also known as TN, is a painful
disease that affects the trigeminal nerve. The disorder causes severe, sporadic,
sudden burning or shock like face pain that can last as short as a few seconds to as
long as two minutes per episode of pain. Patients suffering from the disorder may

Normal blood pressure is 120/80. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging test may also be
performed to check for any abnormalities in the patient s head. Sometimes doctors
may notice that the right carotid artery is larger than usual had a small bubble may
be attached, which could be affecting the Trigeminal nerve. Usually an aneurysm
explains the bubble found in a patient s MRI results; an aneurysm is a bulge in the
artery. Aneurysms are very dangerous because if they rupture too much blood will
enter her brain. Another cause of TN may be too much pressure being applied on
the nerve from a blood vessel. Endovascular coiling will help prevent the aneurysm
from causing more damage. Doctors insert a small catheter into an artery through
the groin area and thread it up to the affected blood vessel in the brain. Then they
insert small platinum wire coils into the catheter and into the aneurysm. Once in
the aneurysm, they conform to the shape of the sac and cause the blood to clot,
effectively sealing off the aneurysm and preventing leakage of blood into the brain.
As far as the sharp pains there are various medications that can be prescribed to
relieve some of the symptoms and to assist in lowering the rate of the attacks. After
treating an aneurysm the patient should begin to take better care of their health, this
will include changing their diet in order to lower their blood pressure if it is too
high. Some patients may have to receive surgery in order to

Doodle is not strong enough to have that name. He believes William Armstrong

Is Excessive Force in Police Brutality Related to Race Essays
The perception of excessive force has been fiercely debated for the last two to three
decades. With continuous civil disobedience, increasing cases of police brutality are
growing at an exponential rate. Often cases of police brutality are brought to our
attention through public media showcasing very disturbing and sometimes unlawful
situations. Some may say that prejudice toward certain ethnicities may be the root
cause of this recent influx. However, some may say that resulting social inequalities
towards certain ethnicities may bring about frustration thus causing police officers to
use more force more often. This then pops up to this preliminary question, Is
excessive force in police brutalityracerelated? My personal beliefs lead me... Show

If you remember correctly that Rodney King was pulled over by the police after a
long reckless chase pursuit. After being stopped he was disruptive and was beaten
severely which many believed to be rather excessive. After viewing the video of
this particular incident I found it to be rather excessive, but in the interest of
public protection. According to the book Official Negligence (p.42), Mr. King
was a prior convicted felon of second degree robbery. He was sentenced to two
years in a federal institution and released after six months of service for good
behavior. I m not sure if the cops knew that Mr. King was a prior convicted felon,
but precautions must be taken in order to in sue the safety of the officers and of the

According to the book Black Voices: An Anthology of African American literature

standard textbook procedures just because the case involves a person of ethnicity.
Essentially the person of ethnicity claims he was excessively mistreated by a cop

disapprove of and should stop. The more this situation occurs, the harder it makes for
people to understand the startling differences between a racially motivated assault

Our travels consisted of short road trips, lots of laughter, fun and adventure. We

Bond valuation is a technique for determining the fair value of a particular bond

and the bond s value upon maturity (Investopedia , 2017). After calculations,
Wesfarmers Limited bonds were valued at $120.38 whereas Woolworths Limited

See Appendix C, Figure I for workings. Both Wesfarmers and Woolworths bonds are

Essay On Double Standards
An Unbalanced Identity
Men and Women s lives are controlled by the double standards all around them.
Every gender is told how to feel and how not to feel, how to act and how not to act
rather than just acting and feeling as they want to. The lives of human beings are
plagued by these awful societal rules that are all meaningless. Despite the progress
made in equality for men and women, double standards create inequality for both
genders. No matter what a man appears like skinny, fat, short and tall, he is never
judged like a women is. Female standards are based solely upon what society thinks
is appropriate and they are judged and critiqued for not meeting these ideal body

The Impact Of Media On Society Today
According to Dictionary.com, media is defined as means of communication that
reach and influence society or people widely.
For instance, radios, televisions, newspapers, and magazines are forms of media. The
influence the media has around the globe is profound, therefore, in this essay, I am
going to discuss the impact that media has on the society today.
Although social media can connect all people in the world instantly, the negative
effects have a great impact on the society because it decreases the desire for actual
communication.
First and foremost, media has an impact on Change in Identity.
In Miss Representation video, it is said that 53% of 13 year old girls are unhappy
with their bodies. And that number increases by 75% at 17 years old. And 65% in
women and girls with anorexia
This is very true because in teen magazines and beauty pageant shows, women are
portrayed as skinny .
This image by the media today is unrealistic and even a very dangerous standard of
feminine beauty.
The idea by media that thinness is idealized and expected for women to be
considered attractive .
Images in televisions, advertisements, and music usually portray women as ideal
woman as tall, white, blonde, and thin. Women and girls with weight problems like
obesity, are going to feel less worthy and ashamed of their physical appearances.
This causes them to be depressed which can lead to suicidal attempts because they
learn to accept that the society only wants skinny

Moral Ambiguity In Billy Budd
We have dealt with an almost excessive amount of moral ambiguity throughout the
novels we have read in AP Literature. It is a highly common theme among writers to
try and make their reader as confused as possible in as few words as possible, or so it
seems. In the novel Billy Budd, by Herman Melville we meet a characternamed
Captain Vere, a respectable man, and captain of the Bellipotent. Captain Vere is faced
with the decision of upholding the law upon his ship, and giving proper punishment
to a man, Billy Budd, upon his ship, or or pardoning this questionably innocent man.
Billy Budd killed a man upon the Bellipotent, and whether it was accidental or not
there are people who believe he should be punished, and people who believe he
shouldn t. In the end, Captain Vere ended up having him hung as his final
punishment, and now we are faced with the question Was Vere morally right in
making his decision? . I believe that he was completely correct and right in his
decision making, and here s why; One argument as to why he made a... Show more

While this argument is stronger, it still lies on a weak foundation and can
ultimately be disassembled. When he put on the coat, and swore his allegiance to
the King and his navy, he waived his right to put his morality before the law. If this
was a case of, and again I will go back to the bar fight, where he held no allegiance
to any specific laws, then the case would be completely different. But in this case, he
is wearing the buttons of the King, and therefore must respect the fact that his
morality comes after legality. So it wasn t a matter Captain Vere not consulting his
moral self, which I genuinely believe that he did, but instead he was simply
following the rules and guidelines that he swore

Many people believe the United States is becoming a Godless culture. The argument
is that we are losing our moral values, because religion is not an important part of
our life anymore. This is the view of most Fundamentalist Christians and right wing
believers. I vehemently disagree with this argument. I say this because there are
many ways to practice religion. We have many ethnic populations in our country

from the Christian based or religions of only one god. Therefore, our country is not

HIV is a disease to rid our population of the undesirables. It is our sinful ways and

The fundamental Christians do not believe there is any other way to practice faith
and religion other than Christianity. I do not believe our country is becoming a
godless culture. One of the important aspects that are missing from the godless
culture theory is the fact that we have in our country many different religions that are
being practiced everyday. People who migrate to this country bring their own religion.
Yes, they want to assimilate into our country, but they shouldn t have to become
clones of the white establishment. Whether we migrate here or not many people
practice Buddhism, spirituality, polytheism (more than one God) or pantheism (God
is in everything including nature). I believe people who condemn us to be a godless
culture are actually afraid of differences. Differences of color, clothing, style, music,
food and faith. I believe being different and having many cultures in our country
makes us stronger in tolerance and acceptance of all human beings. Isn t this what

Essay on Something about Flann O Brien
Flann O Brien s At Swim Two Birds is a multifarious work of purpose, at once an
experimental narrative that directly responds to James Joyce s modernist work
(acting as a forerunner of post modernist thought), and a study on the tortuous
challenges facing the dichotomies of Irish culture. At Swim is at its most
understated, a text of parodies. O Brien expertly strings together the many layers of
his novel s world to express a slew of critical observations about modernist ideology
and realism, as well as exposing a necessary dialogue on the formation and perception
of Irish culture.
A third major aspect of At Swim Two Birds lies closer to O Brien s own life
experience: this is a novel of Irish identity. The Irish identity that O Brien... Show

O Brien investigates the clash of ideologies carefully, having found himself in a
unique position which assisted in the observation of both sides. It is significant,
McKullen writes, that Flann O Brien who was born into that first, critical and
cosmopolitan, post independence generation was also paradoxically more familiar
with Irish traditions than many of the Revivalists who embraced them or the
Modernists that rejected them (McKullen, 76). O Brien, born Brian O Nuallain, was
the son of ardent Irish nationalists; he spoke the Irish language at home, vacationed in
the Gaeltacht (that is, the fringe of Western Ireland where Irish is predominantly
spoken), and studied old and middle Irish in college. As for his own feelings on the
subject, while At Swim Two Birds includes a myriad of old Irish folktale and
mythology, it also points to a dissatisfaction with the Cultural Protectionism that
was prevalent all around him. According to Dr. Joseph Brooker who writes on the
subject, in his own way, [O Brien] was one of the period s most penetrating critics
of Irish pride (Brooker, 31). Viewing the over determination of Cultural
Protectionism, O Brien could see the silliness of glorifying what must have
essentially become caricatures of the Irish heritage. Irish scholar Eihblin Evans adds
that, for O Brien, Irish identity had been hijacked by a set of official cliches with
disastrous effects (Evans, 104). At Swim Two Birds

500 lb. demolition bombs and 1 incendiary cluster. It was impossible to see the
results of the bombing from the flight deck or from the Greenhouse, Miller s
position in the nose. The flight engineer, observing from his dorsal turret, reported
that he could see the results. Yes, Sir, he reported to Hoover. All four hit close
together and there s smoke all over the area. We got it all right! With that, Richard

After studying for two years at Indiana University, he returned home and enlisted
as a flying cadet. Washing out of flight school, he was discharged from the Army
Air Force (AAF) but re enlisted in May of 1941 as an aviation cadet. He trained to
be a bombardier at Barksdale, Louisiana, receiving his commission as a second
lieutenant on December 16, 1941. Miller was assigned to the 37th Bomb
Squadron, 17th Bomb Group based at Pendleton, Oregon. In early February, the
Group was transferred to Columbia Army Air Base (CAAB) in Columbia, South
Carolina for patrol duty on the East Coast. While in the process of moving to
CAAB, the men were told that volunteers were needed that would require the
highest degree of skill, be extremely hazardous and would be a great value to the
war effort. Bud was one of these volunteers. The selected volunteers were ordered
to Eglin Field, Florida and Miller was assigned as bombardier to LT Hoover s crew.
Although they had served in the same squadron, Hoover had never met Miller
before. Bud struck Hoover as a very quiet, serious, but pleasant
Fixing Animals
A question that plagues pet owners new and old is whether they should fix their
animals which is the process of removing the reproductive organs of an animal.
Though in the end it is a tough decision to make when considering both side to the
problem. On the side that is for the spaying and neutering of their animals, research
suggests that it helps keep animals healthy is certain ways that not fixing an animal
does. It also contributes to the control of the animal population in not just in America.
But, on the other side of the issue there are studies showing that even though fixing
an animal has many health and population benefits for animals it can also cause
problems for them, as well as brush up against moral boundaries that many people...

For instance, in an article called Spaying and Neutering Pets by the college of
Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A M states that the
decision to spay or neuter your pet may be the best decision for your pet s overall
health . The article goes on and speaks about the health benefits of fixing an
animal. Which is also corroborated by other articles by the ASPCA called Spay
/Neuter Your Pet and Peta called Spay and Neuter . All of these articles depict the
same information about how fixing an animal will help stop certain cancers that
appear in non fixed animals such as mammary cancer in females and testicular cancer
in males. Another source that is for fixing from The Humane Society called Why You
Should Spay/Neuter Your Pet speaks on the population of the animalsin the United
States stating that In the U.S., there are an estimated 6 8 million homeless animals
entering shelters every year. They go on to say that the reason behind this
staggering number of homeless animals is because of pet owners not fixing their
animals. While fixing an animal is good for the health and population of animals
there are downside to it two. For instance, in the blog article written by Rick
Bohning called Do NOT Spay or Neuter Your Dog. One Size Does Not Fit All .
Bohining is against the procedures because he says that if the
Fear In Lord Of The Flies
Fear has a dramatic effect on humanity, distorting the visions of humans, causing
mass panic and hysteria throughout history. The novel Lord of the Flies, by William
Golding, uses fear to convey the devastating consequences it has on people. The fear
of abandonment is the earliest fear in the novel, which lead to the creation of the
beast. Similarly, man s fearof the unknown causes the boys to lose their ability of
rational thinking and alters their priorities on the island. In addition, the boys fear of
Jack results in a totalitarian rule where the boys are ignoring their morals and
following him for their own safety. In Lord of the Flies, fear is a dominant factor that
contributed to the destruction of the democratic island society and... Show more

Likewise, the boys in the novel go into a state of hysteria due to the mysterious and
new environment that they are exposed to. In connection with the previous fear,
the boys have no adults to answer their questions, which further provoke this fear.
During the assembly where Ralph discusses about the beast, a boy gives his
interpretation of the beast, saying, Maybe he means it s some sort of ghost. (96)
The boy s perception of the beast inflicts fear on the group since a ghost is not
tangible, visible, and cannot be hunted. This statement also creates chaos in the
assembly and ultimately ends it, as the boys are too terrified to have a civilized
conversation. The idea of a beast lurking on the island disrupts the boys priorities.
The boys are too concerned about the beast that they become unproductive on the
island. This results in the downfall of the society since a majority of the boys
neglect their work and go hunting for an imaginary beast that does not physically
exist. The fear of the unknown also stops their signal fire because of the beast that
Samneric claims they saw, It kind of sat up...there were eyes...Teeth...Claws (109)
The fear of the unknown deceived Samneric from seeing a human by distorting the
reality. Ironically, their description of the beast is similar to a human with eyes and
teeth , but their fear blinded them from viewing a dead parachutist instead of a beast.
The confirmation of a beast only greatens the dispute between Ralph and Jack that
separates them. This prompted Jack to instantly demand for a hunt and prevents the
boys from continuing the signal fire and building huts. The fear of the unknown
gives Jack more power than Ralph since he is a hunter and promises the boys to kill
the beast. As a result, Jack has the power to leave the group with the assurance that
he will not be alone. The separation of the boys is a consequence of
I Hate English
Things I am good at: art, playing the cello, school, and pretending that I am good at
doing things. Things I am bad at: grammar, spelling (in fact I misspelled grammar
while typing the word), writing, and pronunciation. I have always assumed that I am
naturally bad at English; however, after twenty five minutes of deep thought, I
concluded that my teachers taught me to hate English. Teacher s failure to properly
motivate and teach kids the important elements of English caused me to hate it; it is
very important for teachers to properly motivate their kids (especially at a young age).
Recently, my art professor told my class that people do not think they are good at
art because people discourage them at a young age. I am assuming this could be
applied to all other subjects, including English. As a child I struggled with hearing,
so reading and pronunciation of words came as a struggle. As a result, I had to go to
summer school after first grade. I clearly remember my teacher yelling at me, in
front of the other students, because I pronounced knee with k instead of a n sound.
I began to hate reading. After my horrible experience in summer school I became a
rebel. In second grade I started to cheat on spelling quizzes, only because I got points
off for mixing up to and too. My eight year old self became infuriated because I did
spell them correctly, I just misplaced them, after all it is called spelling quiz. My
rebel phase did not last long because another kid in my
Comparing The Economic Growth Of India And China
Since The...
Compare the economic growth of India and China since the Millennium.
India and China, the two dragons constantly fighting with each other, both historically
and economically. Although China appears to indulge in the media s thoughts,
perhaps India has been slowly but surely closing the gap or even taking the edge.
China has converted itself from a closed, centrally planned system to a more market
centred one that has a major global role. To illustrate this, it became the world s
largest exporter in 2010. These reforms began with moving away from agriculture,
and expanded to the increased autonomy for state enterprises, the growth of the
private sector, the development of their stock exchange, the movement towards the
modern banking system and transparency to foreign trade and investment. However,
these changes, of course, did not happen over night. China has implemented these
reforms in a gradual way.
On the other hand, India has been doing much better now than in 2013. Economists
predict the country s economy to pick up further. The recent falls in commodity
prices, hurting raw material exporters such as other BRIC countries and South
Africa, are beneficial for India, given that it imports 80% of the oil it consumes. Rich
western economies may fret about the falling prices around the world; Indians are
pleased that they no longer have double digit inflation. Therefore, the diminishing
threat of inflation has prompted India s central bank to decrease interest rates in
Religious Holiday Leave At Cintas Corporation
Religious Holiday Leave at Cintas Corporation
Cintas Corporation is a multi national publicly traded organization (CTAS) based in
Cincinnati, OH. Cintas employs approximately 30,000 employees, who are called
partners, at local locations spread mainly throughout North America (Cintas, 2016).
Cintas employees a diverse workforce, representing cultures and religions from all
over the world. Cintas is a company respected for its management systems and
execution of policies and procedures. Cintas will continue to grow, and as a result
employ more people. With a growing employee base, religion will continue to grow
as a political power in the company s workplace as well (Adams, 2012). As such, it is
critical Cintas has a clearly defined policy regarding religious holiday leave that
complies with all Federal and State employment laws.
Religion Legal Obligation The definition of religion can be subjective and vary
from person to person. According to Gregory (2011), as a society, more and more
employees are wishing to demonstrate their faith while at work. He further notes that
this will continue as individualism and self expression are more embraced by todays
millennials. In addition, Gregory shows that the filing of discrimination based
lawsuits rose 75% between 1997 and 2008. Because of this, Cintas Corporation must
create a fair policy that meets the legal obligations of the company.
The EEOC and Title VII protects all aspects of religious observance and practice
Honey Bees Essay
Bees are buzzing away Honey bees have been dying due to diseases and poor
nutrition. Also the pesticides that farmers put on their crops add to this problem.
The problems started to happen when bees started to have poor nutrition and this
caused them to get diseases. The bees started to die out and there were not enough
to pollinate the flowers. It affects us in many ways too. But for the past decade more
bees have been vanishing. by Lindsay Lowe, paragraph 8. The government is
working on solutions to fix the honeybees problem. There are problems and
solutions so now, let s talk about why honey bees are important. Why are bees so

with diseases, mites have killed millions of bees. By Lindsay Lowe, Paragraph 13.
So that is some problems why bees are dying, now lets learn about solutions to
helping the bees. Solution to preventing the extinction of bees Countries and
people have been working hard to help the bees such as providing laws and
restrictions on pesticide use. For example Pesticides and poor nutrition are
harming the bees. Weed killers are reducing the areas where they can live By
Bloomberg, paragraph 6. A girl created a lemonade called beesweet. They use
honey and not sugar in it. For example Mikaila sells her lemonade on her website
and in stores. She gives some of the money to organizations that are working to
keep bees buzzing. By Lindsay Lowe. Paragraph 6. There is also a pollinator health
task force that Barack Obama created to also help prevent extinction. In May, the
group announced a plan to plant wildflowers on 7 million acres of land across the
country. By Lindsay Lowe. Paragraph d15. These are some of the solutions that have
been created to help prevent the extinction of bees

Social Mobility In The UK
The first indication that shows low social mobility in the contemporary UK is the
educational disadvantage. The education system in the UK does not provide equal
opportunities for children and youngsters from different social backgrounds. This
disparity can be seen in the strong connection between educational achievement and
social class (!). The State of the Nation 2016 report published by the Social Mobility
Commission revealed that in the last ten years, 500,000 children from less privileged
families were not ready for schoolby age five (!). Furthermore, poorer children have
no adequate access to high quality childcare, although they need it most (!). It
therefore appears that children from less privileged backgrounds face disadvantages
already before school age, which can have a negative impact on their further
educational achievements. For example, looking at th7e results of the General
Certificate of Secondary Education(GCSE) in 2014, it can be... Show more content on

Moreover, young people from poorer families are less likely to go to universities
than others (!). 55% of the 1600 respondents in the survey conducted by YouGov
claimed that poorer people in the UK have lower chances to attend university,
compared to 29% thinking that the chances are equal (!). These examples
demonstrate that children and young people from poorer families are disadvantaged
in terms of education opportunities. Therefore, many people in the UK do not have
the possibility to move up the social ladder. Educational inequalities indicate that
social mobility is low in British society.
Another indication of low social mobility in British society is the unequal opportunity
in the workplace. Access to the professions and the average
Football Concussion Essay
Throughout time, football has been known for its insane amount of damage it causes
to its players. It has ranged from a little scrape on your arm to almost lying on your
deathbed after having a concussion that you thought was just a headache. Although
football is seen as a great sport to watch, no one actually knows the truth behind the
actual game. Many have tried to make the sport involve more safe strategies, but it is
just one of those sports that has gained their reputation from being involved with
pushing, hurting, and sometimes even fighting . I would not allow my son to play
football, because it has ways of leaving multiple health issues throughout your
lifetime. It may also be one of the roads to cause traumatic injuries and it gives a
more likely chance of death. In this sport, there are multiple data tables that include
the amount of concussions that have happened throughout the years of the game.
One reason why I would not allow my son to play football is because it leaves the
chance of having long time health issues. According to Sandomir ... acknowledging
the growing evidence of the link between concussions and progressive degenerative
brain disease. (Sandomir). Most know the damages a hit to the head can do while
playing the football, but rather brush it off to continue playing the game. They do
this, because their love for their fans and their love for having a perfect image in
football overtakes their care for their injuries. Instead of just paying
The Wire And Not Plato
It s all in the game. Though these words belong to the nefarious Omar Little of
HBO s critically acclaimed The Wire and not Plato, they nonetheless remain
relevant. If anything, the game is akin to Plato s allegory of the cave and the
shadows that it casts. That being said, I will make the argument that anyone who
doesn t play by the rules of the game or tries to alter it, much like the prisoner who
sees the light and goes back to aid his fellow prisoners, will be rejected. The only
means of retaining a livelihood in the context of the Wire and its characters is to
remain in the cave and entertain the idea of the shadows being reality for just as the
prisoners in the cave are disillusioned by the shadows they perceive to be reality,...

In the process, he jeopardizes months worth of work Kima s detail had put into
cracking down on the elusive Barksdale crew since they see the raids coming from
a mile away and decide to tie up loose ends as a result, distancing themselves from
criminal activity and killing anyone they perceive to be a liability ( Clean Up
Season 1, Ep.12). Burrells actions reflect on the department s inability to
recognize the form of the good in that they are stuck in the visible realm and have
not undergone the transition to the intelligible one (Plato 517b1 517c5). The
poster boy for the Western District Way is Thomas Herc Hauk a street level cop
whose sole motivation in doing police work is getting promoted. Unlike most of
the detectives around him, Herc is brutish and has a gun ho approach to police
work. Fuck the paperwork. Collect bodies, split heads ( The Target Season 1, Ep.
1) is the motto he lives by. True to the Western District Way, Herc is willing to play
ball and walk the thin line between the cave and its exit as a bureaucratic stooge.
Unlike many of his fellow brothers in blue, he realizes being a good cop will get
him nowhere because although there may be those who see Plato s treasured light,
the ones who re capable of lining his pockets with money don t. It only follows that
Black On Black Economics Case Study
Black on Black Economics 101 Fifteen young, black businessmen entered the black
owned Industrial Bank with the intent of opening accounts. The men were
members of the Black Male Entrepreneurship Institute (BMEI), a partner of the
U.S. Black Chambers Inc. (USBC). The move was a calculated effort to gain
support for black on black economics. Ron Busby is CEO of the USBC. He said,
In order for there to be a strong Black America, you must have strong Black
businesses. In order for there to be strong Black businesses, we must have strong
Black banks. So, from my standpoint, this is just a reciprocation for what Industrial
Bank has done for our communities for the last 80 years. The President/CEO of the
Industrial Bank, Doyle Mitchell, was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Everybody that touched the transaction was a Black firm. The service was superior
and the price was right. There s a trillion dollars of spending power in our community
and we want to make sure that dollar stays within our community. Twenty eight days
a dollar stays in the Asian community, twenty one days a dollar stays in the Hispanic
community. In our community, our dollar leaves within six hours. We have got to
change that...Until we have total control of how we circulate our money, our power
and respect will continue to be marginalized, he declared. Busby is the leading voice
supporting black banks and businesses in America today. He hopes that he can
continue to inspire young black men and women to support the black community by
investing in themselves and their communities.

  • 1. Problem Essay Examples Writing an essay on the topic of "Problem Essay Examples" can be a challenging endeavor that requires careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The difficulty lies in the need to identify, articulate, and analyze various problems effectively while providing concrete examples to support the arguments. Firstly, selecting suitable problems to address in the essay requires a keen understanding of the chosen subject matter. This involves extensive research to identify relevant issues and their impact. Once the problems are identified, the challenge is to delve into the complexities and nuances surrounding each issue. It is not merely about stating problems but also about exploring the root causes, consequences, and potential solutions. Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay demands the ability to organize thoughts logically and present a compelling narrative. The writer must carefully structure the introduction to grab the reader's attention and introduce the chosen problems. The body of the essay should delve into each problem separately, providing in-depth analysis and supporting evidence. Transitioning smoothly between different problems while maintaining a cohesive flow is crucial. In addition, offering concrete examples to illustrate the identified problems adds another layer of difficulty. The writer needs to find relevant and impactful examples that not only support their arguments but also resonate with the reader. Ensuring the examples are diverse and representative of the broader context requires additional effort. Furthermore, proposing viable solutions or suggesting ways to address the problems adds complexity to the essay. The writer must showcase a deep understanding of the subject matter to present practical and well-reasoned solutions. Striking the right balance between identifying problems and offering solutions is essential to leave a lasting impression on the reader. In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Problem Essay Examples" necessitates thorough research, effective organization, and the ability to present compelling arguments with concrete examples. • 2. Effects of Temperature on Catalase Activity Essay examples Effects of Temperature and pH on Catalase Activity INTRODUCTION Enzymes are organic catalysts that spur metabolic reactions. The presence of an enzyme within a cell is essential in order for any sort of reaction to take place. All enzymes are complex proteins that act in an organism s closely controlled internal environment. In such a homeostatic environment, the temperature and the pH (concentration of hydrogen ions), remain within a fairly narrow range. Extreme variations in pH and temperature denature the enzyme by altering its chemical structure, thus adversely affecting the chemical reaction. As even the slightest change in the protein s structure will change the enzyme s shape enough to prevent the formation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Immediately after removing the tubes, hydrogen peroxide was added to each tube up to the second (5 cm) mark. They were then swirled to mix, and after fifteen seconds, the bubble columns in each vile were measured in millimeters, and then recorded in a data table. The procedure for analyzing pH levels was rather different. The three test tubes, marked at three different levels, were each filled to the first mark (1cm) with catalase, and to the second mark (3 cm) with water. However, the pH of the water had been adjusted differently for each vile. The first tube received water adjusted to pH three, the second received water adjusted to pH seven, and third received pH eleven. Consequently, each tube was then filled to the last mark (7 cm) with hydrogen peroxide, swirled to mix and then observed after twenty seconds. After twenty seconds passed, the bubble columns of each of he tubes were measured in millimeters. Results were recorded on a chart. RESULTS As expected, during the temperature test, the least amount of bubbles were emitted in tubes that had been exposed to extreme heat. The tube placed in boiling water yielded zero millimeters of bubbles. The boiling water denatured the enzyme and altered its chemical structure rendering it incapable of undergoing metabolic reactions. For these same reasons, the vile placed in a hot bath, containing water at 85 degrees, produced only one
  • 3. Modernist Painting By Clement Greenberg In his essay, Modernist Painting (1960), Clement Greenberg seeks to lay principles for evaluating the progression of art to modern painting. Greenberg makes a lot of evaluations and assessments about modern paintings that are credible and can be held to a high standard. Despite his best efforts, some of his assertions are shrouded in generalizations and lack the necessary premises to be established as entirely objective and affirmative. Greenberg claims that the Old Masters created space one could imagine walking into and experience, but modern painters, on the other hand, create space only accessible to the visual senses, eye. His observations regarding these Old Masters is undeniable for the most part, but his assertions on modern paintings brings up a lot of controversy. To question Greenberg, one must first understand how the representation of depth of space evolved over time. The full range of this evolution cannot be mapped in this essay, thus only relevant and specific ones will be discussed. Dating back to the 16th century, the Renaissance painters saw a heightening of perspective painting. By imitating how distant and close objects appear to the eye, the optical illusion of space is created by a geometric representation of unfolding space. Rafael s Marriage of the Virgin, 1504 (fig.1) is a prominent paragon to reflect on regarding this technique. With defined lines and patterns leading to the doorway of the background building, Rafael gives the audience a sense
  • 4. Construction Of Roads For Black Cotton Soil INTRODUCTION : Construction of roads in black cotton soil areas has been problematic due to their low bearing capacity and the detrimental effects of volume instability arising from swelling and shrinkage characteristics of such soils during wet and dry seasons. Such problems assume greater acuteness where the water table is high and clayey subsoil stratum is thick. A Perfect example of a case history study can be considered from Gudivada Bantumilli State Highway, which passes through a plain terrain surrounded with paddy fields, and constructed on a black cotton soil embankment of 3mts height. The entire stretch of the road is located in the delta region of Godavari and Krishna rivers, of the south eastern part of India. The pavement on the embankment was in a state of extreme distress. Lateral shift and settlement in embankment were the common soil failure features observed. TWO METHODOLOGIES USING LIME : Method 1 Injection of Lime Slurry Method 2 Placement of Lime Piles Method 1 : To verify the efficacy of the technique, laboratory experiments were conducted at Central Road Research Institute India on a test embankment of 2.5m x 2.0m x 2.5m made from the locally available silty soil having a dry density of 16 kN/m2. Lime slurry was injected in one side of the embankment. The injected lime contained 30% lime by weight in the mixture of lime water. Group 10 Page : 2

Being that they are typically the only ones who speak this language, getting jobs aren t easy. Not only do they not have enough for everyone to gain within the community so not they must look elsewhere outside of the community. They are discriminated because of the language they speak when trying to get a job outside of San Basilio. 5. What tangible cultural evidence might support the social disadvantages of the lived experience of being in the majority group? And the minority group? Answer: Cultural evidence that might support the social disadvantages of the lived experience of being in the majority group is that they may not be enough jobs to go around, conflict in interest may come easy, and they aren t able to effectively communicate with others. For minority groups there s more of a chance that they will be looked down on just for being within a minority group. Also, newer generation that may not speak the native language will be separated in order to get a better life/job. The Anthropologist in the Field 1. What is

  • 7. Jonathan Spence s The Death Of Woman Wang Chinese women have historically retained highly circumscribed roles and statuses that rendered them inferior to their male corollaries. The gender status quo was predicated on a definition of gender as a cultural construct that is performed rather than rooted in biology. Throughout Chinese history, the women s role in the family was paramount as conceptualized by the concept of Yin and Yang. While men are associated with Yang, the darker and robust force, while Yin represented the cooler and passive femaleforce. As such, the Chinese ascribed to the separate spheres ideology which relegated women to the private sphere within the home while the public sphere was a male preserve. Huang Liu hung grappled with adjudicating the Wang family whom was viewed as aberrant and outlaws according to cultural and social mores in imperial China. This episode paves the way for a meaningful discussion about the plight of women in traditional Chinese society. The sordid death of Woman Wang at the conclusion of the book is emblematic of how crippled women were in imperial China due to their perceived inferiority and lack of agency in the public

The idea of conserving what we have, reusing what we can, and developing new ways to more efficiently use our planet s limited recourses just seems like common sense to me. Unfortunately, our representatives in Washington D.C. have used environmentalism as a way to gain votes and divide the electorate. Responsible management of our planet has become as widely debated as gay marriage or religion in the schools. Like most social issues, sustainability has ardent supporters and determined critics. On that day some 20 million Americans throughout the country held peaceful demonstrations favoring environmental reforms. The year ended with the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on December 2, 1970.The EPA is charged with establishing and enforcing environmental protection standards, conducting environmental research, assisting others in combating environmental pollution, and recommending new environmental protection policies to the President (Lewis). The short Carter administration s energy policy highlighted funding for solar energy and the continuation of Nixon policies. As the environmental decade came to close and the Carter administration ended in 1981, the new President shifted attention and funding elsewhere. The left praised Reagan for his environmental record as governor of California but after entering the oval office Reagan quickly began undoing much of the environmental progress of the last decade. In his first year in office Reagan proposed a 25 percent cut in funding for the EPA. Reagan was quoted saying trees cause more pollution than automobiles do, and if you ve seen one tree you ve seen them all (Little). I, along with most Americans, easily get frustrated when politicians change their views just so they will get elected. The example of Reagan changing his stance on energy use to

The first (Northern) argument was that strict laws and harsh sentences would reform lawbreakers. Our system with the Bill of Rights emphasizes process and procedure rather than principles and has become very impersonal. People do not want to personally inflict punishment; the system has that job. Once the procedure ends, the penalty begins, and, as long as the cruelty is routine, our civil responsibility towards the punished is over. The second (Southern) argument is that it was a way to continue white supremacy. In the 1960 s, mass imprisonment was a way of continuing Jim Crow laws. Young black men pass quickly from a period of police harassment into a period of invisible control . The third argument is an economic issue stating that corporations now operate many prisons for profit. My idea on his second argument is that most people understand the idea of punishment for a crime, but most people do not want to be the one inflicting punishment. We also do not want to encourage racism. I do not believe that corporations funding lobbyists and influencing laws should operate prisons for

Will the benefits of this surgery outweigh the negatives? For instance, if a patient is elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical cost to undergo the surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what precautions must be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A needle is used to penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The needles most often used in this type of surgery are curved. The curvature of the instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up the area without intrusion of the underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the needle s journey through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and insures proper angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the suture are used to create a proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug against the tissue, not too tight and not too loose, so that proper healing is accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut with a suture scissor. Sutures may either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted suture is the most universal technique used for wound closure. • 15. A Vicious Cycle Another topic often overlooked in discussions of the sort is parallels that of discussed previously, and it is the idea of a vicious cycle. If a country continues to think that it needs to be more powerful to prevent an imminent attack, this toxic mentality tends to lead to more issues than normal. This mindset is a form of determinism that serves no other purpose than to perpetuate the need for more and more weapons, similar to the point made above arguing against the idea of MAD. As stated by Brian Kester, [a] perceived threat is more likely to provoke a violent reaction if the people threatened feel they can strike with impunity, and space weaponswould add significantly to the feeling of American impunity. This echoes ethical considerations regarding vulnerability and helps to show that the cycle of continually doing more and more may not always be the best policy for a nation. Superiority may be a nation s most damning weakness if, in it, comes a spirit of arrogance and apathy for others. The political considerations associated with placing weapons in space is also not something that should be taken lightly. As mentioned before, several acts of legislation both at the worldwide (United Nations) and country level have been put in place to try and maintain the neutrality and peacefulness of space, such as the Treaty of Outer Space. Thus, to say politics is not intertwined with this decision would be a grossly misinformed stance. From the United States perspective,

Enzymes developed from the peroxidase that is obtained from the different roots reacts with the hydrogen peroxide, which releases H2 and water. The extra hydrogen is indicated by the color change of the solution that is used to measure the rate of enzyme activity. When the rate of enzyme activity was high, the activity always occurred in the roots in the beginning stages of their development. However, when the rate of enzyme activity was low during the roots development, sucrose was present. Sucrose was not present in roots when the tissues consisted of high activities of acid invertase. Radish roots proved to have the rate of enzyme of activity remained high until maturity and showed to not have considerable amounts of sucrose. In addition, radish roots can be seen to have similar rate of enzyme activity when compared to the turnip roots because these roots also maintained a high enzyme activity until maturity and did not have considerable amounts of sucrose. Both roots, as a result, reduced sugars being the main reserve. Through the experiment having to do with sugar accumulation and invertase activity during the development of turnip and radish roots, it was observed that these matured roots consumed higher amounts of reducing sugars than sucrose (Ricardo, 1974). In addition, similar changes in sugar content to the turnip roots, invertase activity and dry weight were also detected

Cranial nerves are located in the brain and each have a different function. The trigeminal nerve is located in between the oculomotor nerve and the facial nerve. The trigeminal nerve performs sensor functions that involve the teeth, tongue, nose, and eyes and is covered by a myelin sheath. A myelin sheath is the protective coating that is usually found around nerves. Trigeminal neuralgia also known as TN, is a painful disease that affects the trigeminal nerve. Usually an aneurysm explains the bubble found in a patient s MRI results; an aneurysm is a bulge in the artery. Aneurysms are very dangerous because if they rupture too much blood will enter her brain. Another cause of TN may be too much pressure being applied on the nerve from a blood vessel. Endovascular coiling will help prevent the aneurysm from causing more damage. Doctors insert a small catheter into an artery through the groin area and thread it up to the affected blood vessel in the brain. Then they insert small platinum wire coils into the catheter and into the aneurysm. • 36. Moral Ambiguity In Billy Budd We have dealt with an almost excessive amount of moral ambiguity throughout the novels we have read in AP Literature. It is a highly common theme among writers to try and make their reader as confused as possible in as few words as possible, or so it seems. In the novel Billy Budd, by Herman Melville we meet a characternamed Captain Vere, a respectable man, and captain of the Bellipotent. Captain Vere is faced with the decision of upholding the law upon his ship, and giving proper punishment to a man, Billy Budd, upon his ship, or or pardoning this questionably innocent man. Billy Budd killed a man upon the Bellipotent, and whether it was accidental or not there are people who believe he should be punished, and people who believe he shouldn t. In the end, Captain Vere ended up having him hung as his final punishment, and now we are faced with the question Was Vere morally right in making his decision? . But in this case, he is wearing the buttons of the King, and therefore must respect the fact that his morality comes after legality. So it wasn t a matter Captain Vere not consulting his moral self, which I genuinely believe that he did, but instead he was simply following the rules and guidelines that he swore

The argument is that we are losing our moral values, because religion is not an important part of our life anymore. This is the view of most Fundamentalist Christians and right wing believers. I vehemently disagree with this argument. I say this because there are many ways to practice religion. We have many ethnic populations in our country with many different religions. The fundamental Christians do not believe there is any other way to practice faith and religion other than Christianity. I do not believe our country is becoming a godless culture. One of the important aspects that are missing from the godless culture theory is the fact that we have in our country many different religions that are being practiced everyday. People who migrate to this country bring their own religion. Yes, they want to assimilate into our country, but they shouldn t have to become clones of the white establishment. Whether we migrate here or not many people practice Buddhism, spirituality, polytheism (more than one God) or pantheism (God is in everything including nature). I believe people who condemn us to be a godless culture are actually afraid of differences. Differences of color, clothing, style, music, food and faith. I believe being different and having many cultures in our country makes us stronger in tolerance and acceptance of all human beings. Isn t this what God preaches in the bible. • 38. Essay on Something about Flann O Brien Flann O Brien s At Swim Two Birds is a multifarious work of purpose, at once an experimental narrative that directly responds to James Joyce s modernist work (acting as a forerunner of post modernist thought), and a study on the tortuous challenges facing the dichotomies of Irish culture. At Swim is at its most understated, a text of parodies. O Brien expertly strings together the many layers of his novel s world to express a slew of critical observations about modernist ideology and realism, as well as exposing a necessary dialogue on the formation and perception of Irish culture. A third major aspect of At Swim Two Birds lies closer to O Brien s own life experience: this is a novel of Irish identity. The Irish identity that O Brien... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O Brien investigates the clash of ideologies carefully, having found himself in a unique position which assisted in the observation of both sides. It is significant, McKullen writes, that Flann O Brien who was born into that first, critical and cosmopolitan, post independence generation was also paradoxically more familiar with Irish traditions than many of the Revivalists who embraced them or the Modernists that rejected them (McKullen, 76). O Brien, born Brian O Nuallain, was the son of ardent Irish nationalists; he spoke the Irish language at home, vacationed in the Gaeltacht (that is, the fringe of Western Ireland where Irish is predominantly spoken), and studied old and middle Irish in college. As for his own feelings on the subject, while At Swim Two Birds includes a myriad of old Irish folktale and mythology, it also points to a dissatisfaction with the Cultural Protectionism that was prevalent all around him. According to Dr. Joseph Brooker who writes on the subject, in his own way, [O Brien] was one of the period s most penetrating critics of Irish pride (Brooker, 31). Viewing the over determination of Cultural Protectionism, O Brien could see the silliness of glorifying what must have essentially become caricatures of the Irish heritage. Irish scholar Eihblin Evans adds that, for O Brien, Irish identity had been hijacked by a set of official cliches with disastrous effects (Evans, 104). At Swim Two Birds

Likewise, the boys in the novel go into a state of hysteria due to the mysterious and new environment that they are exposed to. In connection with the previous fear, the boys have no adults to answer their questions, which further provoke this fear. During the assembly where Ralph discusses about the beast, a boy gives his interpretation of the beast, saying, Maybe he means it s some sort of ghost. (96) The boy s perception of the beast inflicts fear on the group since a ghost is not tangible, visible, and cannot be hunted. This statement also creates chaos in the assembly and ultimately ends it, as the boys are too terrified to have a civilized conversation. The idea of a beast lurking on the island disrupts the boys priorities. The boys are too concerned about the beast that they become unproductive on the island. This results in the downfall of the society since a majority of the boys neglect their work and go hunting for an imaginary beast that does not physically exist. The fear of the unknown also stops their signal fire because of the beast that Samneric claims they saw, It kind of sat up...there were eyes...Teeth...Claws (109) The fear of the unknown deceived Samneric from seeing a human by distorting the reality. Ironically, their description of the beast is similar to a human with eyes and teeth , but their fear blinded them from viewing a dead parachutist instead of a beast. The confirmation of a beast only greatens the dispute between Ralph and Jack that separates them. This prompted Jack to instantly demand for a hunt and prevents the boys from continuing the signal fire and building huts. The fear of the unknown gives Jack more power than Ralph since he is a hunter and promises the boys to kill the beast. India and China, the two dragons constantly fighting with each other, both historically and economically. Although China appears to indulge in the media s thoughts, perhaps India has been slowly but surely closing the gap or even taking the edge. China has converted itself from a closed, centrally planned system to a more market centred one that has a major global role. To illustrate this, it became the world s largest exporter in 2010. These reforms began with moving away from agriculture, and expanded to the increased autonomy for state enterprises, the growth of the private sector, the development of their stock exchange, the movement towards the modern banking system and transparency to foreign trade and investment. However, these changes, of course, did not happen over night. China has implemented these reforms in a gradual way. On the other hand, India has been doing much better now than in 2013. Economists predict the country s economy to pick up further. The recent falls in commodity prices, hurting raw material exporters such as other BRIC countries and South Africa, are beneficial for India, given that it imports 80% of the oil it consumes. Rich western economies may fret about the falling prices around the world; Indians are pleased that they no longer have double digit inflation. Therefore, the diminishing threat of inflation has prompted India s central bank to decrease interest rates in
