The impact of globalization on family structure: a sociological study
Abstract In the present research paper, we shall discuss a study which has been carried out on the
Bengali community situating in the lowlands (Tarai) of the Udham Singh Nagar district of
Uttarakhand and the effect of Modernization and Globalization on their family structure on this
community. Its historicity lies in the fact that the Bengali community living in the lowlands of Udham
Singh Nagar has all come from East Pakistan (Now Bangladesh) and mainly from its three districts

Structure of Family Due to the influence of Modernization and Globalization, there has been definite
change in the family structure and the original structure of family has been undergoing changes. The
nuclear Family has become the fashion and is taking the place of joint family system. In the past, the
joint family system was much prevalent in this community. But in the younger generation nuclear
family system is practiced at larger scale. During research it also came in limelight that in the past
majority of the families were large, but in the present time the family size has been changing rapidly.

Why Is Assisted Suicide Legalized
If Assisted Suicide was to become a law that the states can use it a lot of people with illnesses would
die. This means that their family member would be in great grief to find that their family member
decided that they wanted to die. The problem is that patients of doctors with illnesses might choose to
die if Assisted Suicide is legalized in the States. A possible solution that could occur is that it could
become illegal in the States, so that patients could not make a rash decision to kill themselves with
drugs. Another possible solution could be that they could only make the decision if their family
members and relatives agree. Also, they could only choose this with relative approval if they are 18 or
older. If Assisted Suicide is legalized, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A possible solution to assisted suicide would be to stop it in every state in the US. This helps this issue
by stopping people from giving them the choice of assisted suicide. Which would lead to less deaths
from this issue.
Using lethal drugs to kill someone should be illegal in the US. Another, possible solution for this
could be to not use drugs to kill someone without any direction on self administration. This helps this
issue by not killing patients with drugs at their own home. This also helps people try to survive their
terminal illness instead of just giving up.
If assisted suicide becomes a law that is legalized that doctors and physicians patients will die if they
choose to. Assisted suicide means a situation in which a physician provides the means of death for a
gravely ill patient but the patient takes the final step. This is a problem because it s killing patients
with lethal drugs or killing patients with Euthanasia. Some solutions are to stop this in the US or give
them hope to make them want to live. This is not a situation to be taken lightly this should be stopped
because if it is not than people will die by doctors that are supposed to help people survive. People
should help stop this with the rest of the protestors. People should help save a live from a person with
terminal illnesses, they should help save a family from

Fairy Tales Speak trough Symbols
Fairy tales have fed the imagination of many generations during the centuries. Through these stories,
the human s mind can fly beyond the reality and create new worlds with their specific rules and
creatures. Symbolism is an intrinsic element of these creative stories. Fairy tales convey many
meanings through symbols and consequently create a deeper space for their audiences. They look like
a road that every time a person passes through them, he/she can find new things around. Sleeping
Beauty and Snow White and Seven Dwarfs gathered by the Brothers Grimm are two of these famous
fairy tales. The central theme of both of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the sleeping beauty , the dangers of puberty is symbolized by an accident in which a spindle that
pricks Briar Rose s finger and causes the evil prophecy to be fulfilled (J.Grimm and W.Grimm). For
Snow White this danger is symbolized through a comb: an old woman, [pulls] out the poisoned comb
and holding it up and [snow white] let herself be deceived, and opened the door (J.Grimm and
W.Grimm). In another part of the story, the snow white has a bite of a poisoned apple (again
symbolizing the danger of puberty and falls to the ground dead (J.Grimm and W.Grimm). (Stone 46)
emphasizes on the fact that both events of Snow White being sent out to be murdered, and Sleeping
Beauty being put to sleep occur at puberty time .
Both stories try to symbolize the curiosity of the heroine towards her own body and her attempt to
explore her sexuality is punished with near death (Stone 47). Sleeping Beauty tries to navigate through
all the hidden places of the castle and during this navigation she finds a little door, with a rusty key
sticking out of the lock; (J.Grimm and W.Grimm) which eventually leads to the activation of the curse.
Here, as (Freud) mentions, the human body as a whole is [symbolized by] a house and the separate
organs of the body [are symbolized by] by portions of a house . In Snow White s story, the heroine
gets tempted in exploring her sexuality (symbolized through the temptation of using a comb or eating
an apple (i.e. possibly

Youth in Crime Essay

Stereotyping happens all the time, more than people seem to believe it does. Appearance, location, and
race all deal with how people as well as police authority characterize individuals without truly
knowing how that person is. Race is one of the biggest factors when it comes to criminalization
because of what people see on the media and from what they are told. It usually is the younger
generation that are viewed as criminals not only because of where they live and who they associate
themselves with, or with what is seen on the media but also because some young people come from a
family history of criminals. The issue here is that not all young people are criminals; but when living
in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media is a source of contribution to how society believes that police figures should punish certain
races because they believe that a certain race is more of a threat to them and their community than
another race.
In spite of the media and police authorities determining who are the main race/group of criminals; this
does not take away from the other issue that youngsters face. Even though they come from a area of
high crime rates, and/or come from the same racial background that is sought out to be a threat to
others, a wide group of these youngsters are ones that are not involved in any act of crime, or gang,
they go to school, and participate in community programs, but yet are still stereotyped as criminals
because of their appearance. According to Rios who interviewed a boy named J.T. he states, Despite
actively avoiding delinquency and never being arrested or suspended, J.T. believed that sometimes he
was treated worse than his delinquent peers (143). J.T. also told Rios that even though he tried to stay
away from trouble, authority figures often implicated him in the deviance and crime that his friends
committed, (143). This was a boy who got good grades in school, had a mother who worked hard,
who did what she could to discipline him well, and who participated in an afterschool program at the
ESYC, but since he had friends who were involved in gangs, or other types of crime he was also seen
as guilty. Many young boys try and avoid

The Short Speech Of Apple
Question One: What strikes you as surprising in these videos? Why? According to the videos, which
existing assumptions must be challenged?
After watching these videos, two things surprise me. First, I am surprised by Political frame, which
presents the conflict side of an organization because I have never think about this side of an
organization. When it comes to the views of a company, I may normally ignore the political side and
just focus on the structures, managers and employees. After watching this video, I finally recognized
the importance of the political frame for a company. What s more, the Framing Organization put the
symbolic as one of the four parts of the frames surprise me. I would think that the symbolic of a
company is important, but I have never put it on a same importance level as structural and human
resources. One thing does not surprise me, but I want to mention is the short speech of Apple. A
company, which is greatly collaborative, like Apple, has had the basis to success.
In my opinion, there are two existing assumptions must be challenged: role of employees and
importance of collaborations. The existing assumption, which is managers decide everything and
employees are not considerable must be changed. In new perceptions, human resources has became
one of the most important parts of an organization. Employees actually the people who creates profits
and their importance is not lower that employers and managers. The assumption that will also be

Novel Windflower- Western and Eskimo Culture
In the novel the WINDFLOWER, there is a presence of two different cultures the western culture and
the Eskimo culture. In history, we as the readers know that aboriginals were cruelly treated and the
western people tried to assimilate their culture. Interestingly, the author, Gabrielle Roy decided to
portray a part of the Eskimos in the novel, WINDFLOWER, as assimilated to create conflict with
minor characters. The more notable characters that have been shown to defy the western cultures was
only Uncle Ian and Winnie. Even still, many of the Eskimos are shown to believe that the western
culture was the more dominant belief. The effect this had was that the interactions shown with the
minor characters and Elsa. To touch on how the Eskimos thought that the white culture was superior
and many had already assimilated is shown in a subtle touch provided by the first chapter that showed
how accepting the Eskimos were to the close proximity of the whites. In page 6, the author writes,
Nowadays they wore short dresses of flowered cotton, over which floated sweaters as shapeless as
sacks , The effect of something as petty as clothing may not seem like much but it contains a larger
effect than one would expect. These clothes originated from western culture, if the whites were not
present the Eskimos would have been perfectly content with what they had parkas and pretty sealskin
boots of former times (Pg 6). This can infer that the Eskimos already had a mindset of the western

Abstract The utilization of PC systems for information transmissions has made the need of security.
The security of this intuitive media data should be possible with encryption or information concealing
calculations. To diminish the transmission time, the information pressure is necessary. Since couple of
years, an issue is to attempt to join pressure, encryption and information covering up in a solitary
stride. Picture security turns out to be progressively critical for some applications, e.g., secret
transmission, video reconnaissance, military and therapeutic applications. These days, the
transmission of pictures is an every day routine and it is important to locate a proficient approach to
transmit them over systems. They send Secret message over channel utilizing Cryptography and
Steganography calculations by AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). It is utilized to scramble the
information from plain content to figure content the other way around. There are two sorts of keys
accessible in the cryptography, symmetric and asymmetric. There are utilizing symmetric key which is
separated into two key, for example, private and open key. Open key is utilized for encryption and
private key is utilized for decoding. The reversible information concealing method is utilized to

It is absurd to say that two races so dissimilar as the whites and blacks, when their numbers are equal,
can live in peace where they enjoy equal political privileges, where they sit on the same juries, serve
in the same legislature and hold similar offices. It is an impossibility. One race or the other must be
subordinate. So it has always been and so it will always be. Does anyone believe that the white people
of Massachusetts or any Northern State would give the negroes the same political rights with the
whites if they were equal or nearly equal in numbers? Where there are only a few negroes it makes but
little difference, for then the white race will be the dominant and governing race. But it is not so in the
Gulf States. If the negroes enjoy equal political privileges with the whites, one race or the other must

The Era Of Dinosaurs Research Paper
Around 250 million years ago, dinosaurs were the premiers of the Earth. A few questions are posed
when looking at the dinosaurs. What is classified as a dinosaur? How did dinosaurs come to rule? Did
the same dinosaurs live for all 150 million years they were here? Where did they all go? Taking a look
at the evidence, all the answers to these questions are there. Maybe even more questions can be posed
from the answers to the ones above. A dinosaur is a hard term to describe because of all the

The Results of Student Censorship
The students of this country are expected to follow the rules and regulations that their schools impose,
and whether or not they are fair is constantly challenged. In a perfect world, everyone would be
content under the same guidelines, regardless of how restrictive they may be. However, this is not a
perfect world and finding a universal agreement among everyone is virtually impossible. Throughout
history, those who have disagreed with actions made by authoritative figures have found a way to
protest said actions. From the Cambodian protests in Kent State to the Tiananmen Square protests,
students have been very vocal about what they are against and refuse to be censored by their schools
or their government. Attempting to do so, however, could lead to retribution from authorities.
Censoring students and their voices affects the students by almost trying to instill fear and demoting
contest from them can result in various scenarios, both good and bad. Violence is never the answer,
but there have been more than a few occasions where violence was the chosen path from a group
trying to suppress students. One of the most infamous cases of violence against protesting students is
the Kent State Massacre. On May 4, 1970 students of Ohio s Kent State University had a
demonstration against then President Ronald Reagan s decision to invade Cambodia during the
Vietnam War. In an attempt to shut this demonstration down, The Ohio National Guard was called in.

first country to officially recognise a strange new illness [HIV/AIDS] among a small number of gay
men ( History ). In June of 1982, there was 355 cases of Kaposi s Sarcoma and/or serious

HIV or AIDS had not been thought of yet ( History ). By the end of year 1983, the number of AIDS

Kushner s book takes place in the 1980 s, so the reader can see why this would be so scary for the

is speculated that Louis Ironson, Harper Pitt, Joe Pitt, and Belize have contracted HIV/AIDS based off
of the reading. People in America often see someone with a disease and look at them differently

The Importance Of Spaying And Neutering And The Problems...
My topic is on spaying and neutering and the problems those surgeries could make better or even fix
completely. Ultimately by spaying or neutering a pet, the owner would be helping lower the
overpopulation of animals. A pet owner would also be helping their pet by not allowing them to go
through puberty or heat cycles. It is a fact known worldwide that spaying and neutering your pet will
help lower the overpopulation of animals. Overpopulation has been a problem for many years now.
There are too many stray animals wandering the streets and living in animal shelters awaiting a home
that won t come. The importance of spaying and neutering is to give the pet owner and the pet the best
life. Veterinarians perform spaying and neutering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone is affected by overpopulation, even those who do not own pets. Human health is at risk from
all the stray animals having transmittable diseases such as rabies and the animal waste.
There are several different procedures on spaying and neutering pets. Each and every procedure would
be performed by a veterinarian who has studied medicine. Discuss all of these procedures with a
veterinarian for the best option for each specific pet. Of course, there is the usual spay procedure is a
ovariohysterectomy, which is when the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus are removed from a female
pet. As a result this makes the female pet unable to reproduce and eliminates the breeding instinct
related behavior and the heat cycle. Also there is the hysterectomy, which is when the uterus and part
of the fallopian tubes are removed from a female pet. This makes the female pet unable to reproduce,
but the female will still produce hormones because of the ovaries. This may not eliminate the female
behaviors related to the breeding instinct. Lastlty, for the female pet there is the ovariectomy, which is

The Way Forward for Sainsbury
The Way Forward for Sainsbury Sainsbury has had a long history of business success, something that
it can continue for the foreseeable future if it maintains a cohesive business strategy, a strategy that is
rooted in a larger cohesive corporate vision. This paper examines some of the key factors that the
company must consider to be the foundation for a prosperous and profitable future. This analysis
demonstrates that Sainsbury s executives understand that not only does the company have to plan and
then put into effect good initiatives and good policies, but they have to sell the company s image as
one that its customers want to share. Sainsbury s sells itself successfully by (also successfully) selling
itself as a representative and purveyor of British values. The following analysis (including the
scorecard at the end) provides an overall explanation and justification for the measures suggested that
Sainsbury should take to achieve these indicators A content analysis of Sainsbury s annual reports as
well as statements made by Chief Executive Justin King reveals what the company plans for its future
in a way that is tacit, even coded. This should hardly be surprising: In nearly every act of human
verbal or written communication there are nuances of meaning that go unsaid but that can nevertheless
act as important signals between the parties and that can serve as equally as important as the explicit
messages. These tacit meanings can occur at the highest seats of power,

Essay About Teenagers
I believe the children are the future are the words of the late Whitney Houston which many heard
while growing up. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few
people want to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think
they are grown. The people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the
main reasons why they have been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making
aspect of their lives; they manage to do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless
as they believe their friends are always right. This results in them being out of control where parents
and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being
involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on their social behavior, their risk of STD
s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but they love to follow their friends.
Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work and house work if they had
any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed, and it has not changed
for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular point in time,
unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does that even
make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions.
Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to
speak to their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be
noticed when these teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are
gone. Little good morning is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary.
Parents, teachers and some friends cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and
behave rambunctiously when spoken to. These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way.
Going to school with bite marks on them just to prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in
which this

failures, increases in satisfaction, and profitability. Among this certification there are many others that
are extremely beneficial but also not as expensive as completing master programs. Appendix 1. What

The Gap Between Generation Y And The Baby Boomer Generation
This paper reviews an article written by Elza Venter from the Department of Psychology of Education

Generation Y and the Baby Boomer generation.
The purpose of this research was to answer one key research question: How can the generational
communication gap between the Baby Boomer generation and Generation Y be closed in order to
allow them to have meaningful interpersonal communication?
According to Venter (2016), meaningful communication between the Baby boomer generation and
Generation Y is important because these generations have connected channels of communication and

On the contrary, Baby Boomers value face to face communication. Baby Boomers are digital
immigrants who grew up without technology. They had to migrate to using technology. According to
Prensky cited in Venter (2016), members of the Baby Boomer generation had to learn the digital
language in order to communicate with the digital natives. Some members still experience difficulty in
maintaining their digital immigrant accent (p.3). Baby Boomers prefer face to face communication
because of the presence of body language and non verbal cues which are important to them (Walmsley
cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).Therefore, members of the Baby Boomer generation will only resort to
computer mediated communication if the context does not allow for face to face communication. For
example, the Baby Boomer generation will send emails or phone another person if they cannot walk or
drive to that person, they rarely resort to only instant messaging to fill their interpersonal
communication (Venter, 2016, p. 2). Members of the Baby Boomer generation do not appreciate
technological skills of Generation Y because they prefer learning in a step by step process instead of
multitasking. (Prensky cited in Venter, 2016, p.4).

Child G And The Main Components Of The Phonetic Stage
Child G is 6 years old female and her parents express that she enjoys writing both in school and at
home. Her older sister goes to sleepaway camp during the summer months and so in this piece of
writing Child G talks about her weekend at her sister s camp reunion. This writing is part of a weekly
classroom activity, weekend news . According to Gentry s five stages of spelling development, Child
G s writing suggests she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of transitional writing present
(Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been based on the sounds they hear,
one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is most evident in the way she has spelt
reunion, as reyouyen. This may be understood better by child G with the use of syllable games, such
as clapping as saying words aloud to hear how many syllables are present. However, Child G does
show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in e, which is evident in side. The National
Curriculum states that children of this age should understand such rule (Department for Education,
2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing into the transitional stage, and is starting to
become less dependent on sounds when writing (Wyse et al. 2013). In order for Child G to sit
comfortably in the transitional stage the child s teachers and parents/carers could use several methods.

The Opening Of Japan And China Essay

December 3, 2016
The opening of Japan and China; A love story
Throughout history, dozens of countries have adopted isolationist policies on countless different
occasions. For example, in the United States in the 1930 s, many Americans felt that amidst the Great
Depression, the government should focus its efforts on solving problems at home before intervening in
international affairs. Furthermore, today, totalitarian dictators often isolate their countries in order to
consolidate their power, as is the case in North Korea and Eritrea. Yet while isolationism itself was not
unique to the 19th century, the manner in which both China and Japan departed from isolationist
policies under imperialist pressures was unique.
When Japan and China enacted isolationist policies in the 16th century, Japan and China were among
the most advanced countries in the world. Both nations felt that they did not need to nor desired to
interact with the rest of the world, or intervene in disputes between barbarians (Aizawa 348.) As a
consequence, throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, neither country advanced much technologically.
On the other hand, over that same period the west experienced and reaped the benefits of an industrial
revolution that saw dramatic advances in mathematics, science, and technology. The west
subsequently experienced significant economic growth, and western powers then began building
empires in pursuit of further growth. As a result, when western powers

The Business of ShareAll
1. Business objectives of ShareAll:
* Increase public awareness of the services ShareAll is providing;
* Motivate people to participate more actively in collaborative consumption.
In conclusion, the ultimate goal of a for profit ShareAll company is to increase the number of players
and their activity that will subsequently result in higher profit compared to the one, the company
generated prior to gamifying its system.
2. Delineate target behaviors
The first target behavior the company wants to encourage (which is related to its objective of raising
public awareness) is to see more people joining ShareAll by creating their accounts. The metric that
will allow us to measure this behavior is pretty obvious the number of created and existing accounts.
Besides that, the company should strive, on the one hand, to motivate players to share more products
(cars, houses, etc.) and on the other hand, to use shared items more frequently. This behavior
corresponds to the company s objective of motivating people to participate more actively in
collaborative consumption. In this case, the metric that will be used for measurement is the number of
matched deals that the system has generated by bringing sellers and buyers together.
Lastly, ShareAll will aim at encouraging players to generate, trade, and spend more Shares which is
directly connected with the company s goal of profit maximization. The metric that will be used in this
case is the number of generated/traded/spent Shares

How Did Pope John Paul Changed The World
St. Pope John Paul the Second There has been many different saints throughout history who have
changed the world by helping the poor and sick. Some of these saints include St. Vincent De Paul, St.
Benedict of Nursia, and St. Giles; however most of these saints did their good deeds one hundred or
more years ago. In the past century some people were inspired by these people of the past and decided
to continue the work that theses saints started. One of the most important people who heard the call
and gave up their life in order to follow it is St. Pope John Paul the Second. St. Pope John Paul the

The Genetic Modification Of Humans
Remedial Genetic Modification When discussing the topic genetic modification of humans, some
people readily agree that modification of humans is an unsound procedure. Where their agreement
typically ends, however, is on the question of how much people generally understand about genetic
modification, considering, not only its unfamilirarity, but its broad diversity. Where as some are
convinced this bio ingenuity course of action is unnatural and should not be practiced, others maintain
that unnatural as it may be, its existence should be unveiled in the acceptance a method that primarily
revolves around assisting people for health purposes. I concede that genetic modification in humans
should be allowed remedially in reasons related to improving health. Firstly, the importance of
knowing what human genetic modification actual ranges in and what it entails towards the relevance

the scientific explanations are intricate, the definitions can be generalized for easier understanding.

Understanding The Complexity Of The Jaw
Cindy Amador

Research Paper

Osteonecrosis of the Jaw The human body is made up of living cells that keep a constant supply of
blood flowing to the bones in order to replenish and retain their healthy function. When insufficient
blood flow is produced for our bones they begin to become weaker and lose their vitality and
ultimately collapse. It can occur in any bone of the body including the jaw. This condition is known as
osteonecrosis of the jaw. This is a newly recognized condition that continues to be researched to in
order to provide patients with optimal care. In order to understand the complexity of this disorder you
must comprehend how the condition is diagnosed, the risk factors, and how it can be treated.
Osteonecrosis, osteo meaning bone and necrosis meaning death, is bone losing vitality and function.
This condition occurs when bone is no longer supplied with blood. Osteonecrosis of the jaw, ONJ,
exposes the jaw bone because it is no longer attached to the gingiva and has remained in this state for
over eight weeks. In the initial stages of ONJ, there are no noticeable symptoms or indications but as
the disease progresses, pain within the joints is common. As ONJ further develops the signs and
symptoms include local pain, soft tissue swelling or inflammation, previously secured teeth are now
unstable, and exposure of bone. Sudden changes in the wellness of mucosal tissues, mucosa unable to

Section 235.10 states that teachers may not have sexual relations with students. This rule is
straightforward and in place for obvious reasons. Relationships between teachers and students violate
laws and place students and teachers into an altered power dynamic. If students and teachers had
relations outside of school it could lead to unfair treatment. Another rule that must be followed when it
comes to teaching is that teachers must obtain proper certification in order to teach. This rule is in

The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology...
All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own
benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology and
growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain which has
one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plant
morphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheat seeds being placed in
treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two weeks have
passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured exclusively.
The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments
which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as
important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment.
Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into
two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the root
hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush
et al. 2016). For example, the nutrient Selenium is known to increase the resilience of plants in harsh
environments. In an experiment completed to see the effects of selenium on wheat growth, it was
noted that the Selenium

Totality during the 1999 solar eclipse. Solar prominences can be seen along the limb (in red) as well as

An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when an astronomical object is temporarily obscured,
either by passing into the shadow of another body or by having another body pass between it and the
viewer. An eclipse is a type of syzygy.[1]
The term eclipse is most often used to describe either a solar eclipse, when the Moon s shadow crosses
the Earth s surface, or a lunar eclipse, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The latter object will block some amount of light being emitted by the former, creating a region of
shadow around the axis of the line. Typically these objects are moving with respect to each other and
their surroundings, so the resulting shadow will sweep through a region of space, only passing through
any particular location in the region for a fixed interval of time. As viewed from such a location, this
shadowing event is known as an eclipse.[5]
Typically the objects involved in an astronomical eclipse are roughly circular in size,[5] and so the
region of an object s shadow during an eclipse is divided into three parts:[6]
The umbra, within which the object completely covers the light source. For the Sun, this light source
is the photosphere.
The antumbra, extending beyond the tip of the umbra, within which the object is completely in front
of the light source but too small to completely cover it.
The penumbra, within which the object is only partially in front of the light source.
During a lunar eclipse only the umbra and penumbra are applicable. This is because Earth s apparent
diameter from the viewpoint of the Moon is nearly four times that of the Sun.
The first contact occurs when the Moon s disc first starts to impinge on the Sun s; second contact is
when the Moon s disc moves completely within the Sun s; third contact when it starts to move out of
the Sun s; and fourth or last contact when it finally leaves the

History of Time Telling Machines
The Tick in the Clock New technology often begins with the clear intention of solving an ongoing
problem or satisfying a societal need. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the
toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard
drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has
functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more
technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one
looks up at a clock.
The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. According
to Artemidorus of Daldis, a second century A.D. writer, A clock signifies occupations and
undertakings, movements and the start of transactions. For men keep their eyes on the time in all that
they do, (Dohrn van Rossum 17). Not only does a clock keep track of time, it signifies the need for the
human race to organize and control their surroundings, as it has been from the first encounter between
technology and the human race.
The technology of a clock is simple yet varied. The clock s shell is usually made out of brass, copper,
tin or zinc. After the shell is molded the components of the clock are assembled; significant working
parts including the face, arms, power source, gear train, escapement, wheels, mainspring, pendulum
and quartz are all

identification of unknown organic compound
Identification of Unknown Organic Compound by Melting Point (M.P), Boiling Point (B.P) and
Infrared Spectroscopy
Methods and Background The main objective of this lab is to identify the given unknown organic
compounds with various methods. Identification of an unknown compound is important to perform
through the process of melting point (M.P), boiling point (B.P) and Infrared spectroscopy (I.R). Index
of Hydrogen deficiency (IHD) and elemental analysis makes an experiment more efficient in
determination of unknown compound. The color, odor, melting point and boiling point determines the
physical state and properties of a compound. It also determines its volatility in respect to temperature.
The functional group of a compound can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the calculation of IHD of 5 (i.e. 4 double bonds and 1 ring) and the functional groups
obtained from the spectra was similar to the hypothesis structure, benzoic acid. The experimental
value of melting point of benzoic acid was 116.7 and was almost close to the value found from
reference book which was 122.41. The error might be the impurities from container. The liquid
compound obtained from similar processes had an empirical value C5H10O. The IHD for the
compound came 1 which might be 1ring or double bond. Since, the sample had a strong smell, and the
spectrum was similar to the hypothesis structure, 2 Pentanone. Experimentally, the boiling point of
Pentanone or acetone was 950C. But from reference it was 1010C. The error in boiling point of

Environmental Justice Executive Summary
This report through the United Church of Christ and Justice Witness Ministries was very important in
the progress of environmental justice because the report presented that race is the most potent variable
of where commercial hazardous waste facilities were located in the U.S. Throughout this report, the
constant theme was about toxic and solid waste, but another underlining theme was the economy
versus environment.
In the 21st century, environmental justice examined government legislator and policies that placed
people and communities of color at risk. The authors presented the point on how the current system
has institutionalized unequal enforcement. One powerful statement that was made during their
critiques was how the system placed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eno Road was used as the dumping ground for the county for over forty years, before they officially
made the land a landfill. The researchers found that over fourteen hundred people retrieved their
drinking water from private wells or springs within four miles from the landfill, which caused
contamination of TCE and other hazardous chemicals throughout the private wells and springs. One
particular African American family, the Holt family, basically received a death sentence from the U.S.
Government because the Holt s well was not retested or monitored as recommended by state officials
(140). The whole Holt family experienced a range of deadly illness; anyone would have had these
illnesses from drinking well water that had twenty six parts per billion of TCE, which is twenty five
more than the regulation. Yet, the Holt family had to wait to be treated, but they never received the

The Is An Educator That Pedagogically Aligns His Method Of...
Alfie Kohn is an educator that pedagogically aligns his method of instruction with progressive
education. What is progressive education? In the attempt to explain what a progressive education
embodies, we must first observe the traditional approaches to education. For example, in a traditional
educational setting, the teacher is the ultimate leader in the classroom. The teacher controls classroom
expectations, sets rigid curriculum many times disconnected to the lived experiences of the students in
the classroom, and positions a learning system in which students robotically memorize information for
the sole of testing where information is merely to be regurgitated. In a couple of weeks, if days after,
students do not retain this information because it lacks meaning, connection, and relevancy. Students
are not able to connect to the information that they have just learned. So, we should ask ourselves, Are
our students learning for the love of learning, or learning for the purpose of testing? Alfie Kohn in,
Progressive Education Why It s Hard to Beat, But Also Hard to Find, conveys progressive education
as the thoughtful school practices that include hands on learning, multiage classrooms, and mentor
apprentice relationships. A progressive education includes having collaborating activities with students
to be able to learn from and which each other. In order to prepare our students in the 21st century, we
must teach about becoming more globally conscious about the

There was also a policy in 1899 where all nations could make trades in China. The US built the

What Are The Eight Steps Of Kotter s Eight Step Model
The change model that I applied for the project was the Kotter s Eight Step Process (Kohn, 2005).
Within the Eight Step Process, it illustrates the major phases such as creating a climate for change,
engaging and enabling the organization and implementing and sustaining the change. In each of the
phases it has the building blocks that are required for each level to be assure that change can occur.
The main phase that I used from Kotter s Eight Step Process was the creating a climate for change
phase. In the creating a climate for change phase it has the increase of urgency, build guiding teams
and get the vision right. How I applied this phase of the model to the project was that I knew if I
present my suggestion with great motivation and with heighten energy to the match specialist and to
the board members, they are able to see that I am serious in making a positive change. I also am aware
that I needed to speak with the correct board members first who were willing to listen and expressed
that some change needed to occur within the organization. This is the reason ... Show more content on

By demonstrating a sense of urgency and delivering my suggestion during the fundraiser event in a
highly energetic and motivated manner, the board members and especially the CEO would not believe
that there is a need to make a change. It was also a success because I did have a few people already in
my corner from a few months ago that heard my suggestions in the past. The people that had the right
behavior by being focused, committed to the change that I wanted to do, were people in positions in
which they had a big influence towards the program. I also felt that by using this phase of the model,
the goal of the change that I wanted for the Big Sister Program was considered to be achievable and
implemented in the near

United Way Of El Paso
United Way is a non profit organization that helps improve the livelihood in local communities. I have
been fortunate enough to see the impact United has provided from community donations and its
funded agencies in El Paso. Hegel developed the Systems Theory in the 18th century and the best way
to describe the organizations audience is in comparison to the organizations structure and function.
University of Twente (2016) believes communication occurs among interdependent units that work
together to adapt to an ever changing environment. United Way of El Paso County strives address
issues in areas of education, homelessness, and economical stability. I will talk about how the
organization addresses these issues to their donors, agencies, and the families they support. The
organizations objective is to target multiple audiences and the programs structure is important to
separate the different groups they support. The United Way is a non profit organization that has a team
that works hard to find donors for the list of agencies they support. Typically a non profit organization
choses agencies that get little to no help from the local government. United Way (2016) This is
accomplished by achieving measurable results through strategies that focus on community systems
and resources and by focusing on funding programs that achieve outcomes in three select impact
areas: Education, Basic Needs, and Income. In most cases United Way reaches out to local businesses

Treatments for Schizophrenia
M. Arah Enoh
Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe brain disorder which causes people to have odd thoughts, disturbed
emotions and motor abnormalities (Carpenter, 2015). It is usually followed by psychosis,

they are violent or dangerous. Schizophrenic people do not make sense when they speak.
Approximately 1 of every 100 people in the world suffers from schizophrenia during his or her
lifetime (Lindenmayer Khan, 2012). An estimated 24 million people worldwide are afflicted with this
disorder, 2.5 million people in the United States (NIMH, 2015). This disorder tends to affect people in

Goodwill Hunting Character Analysis
Human Development Reflection I I am choosing to view Goodwill Hunting with human development
in mind. The whole plot is about Will Hunting having to mature and learn to trust others. Will
eventually matures to the point where he can trust his close friends, and his girlfriend. Will is an
excellent example of just how difficult human development is. Will is born with an astoundingly high
intellectual threshold. His biology has granted him a gift that he uses to get himself out of all kinds of
trouble. Will defends himself in court on many occasions after committing petty crimes. Will grew up

This means that their family member would be in great grief to find that their family member decided that they wanted to die. The problem is that patients of doctors with illnesses might choose to die if Assisted Suicide is legalized in the States. A possible solution that could occur is that it could become illegal in the States, so that patients could not make a rash decision to kill themselves with drugs. Appearance, location, and race all deal with how people as well as police authority characterize individuals without truly knowing how that person is. Race is one of the biggest factors when it comes to criminalization because of what people see on the media and from what they are told. It usually is the younger generation that are viewed as criminals not only because of where they live and who they associate themselves with, or with what is seen on the media but also because some young people come from a family history of criminals. Even though they come from a area of high crime rates, and/or come from the same racial background that is sought out to be a threat to others, a wide group of these youngsters are ones that are not involved in any act of crime, or gang, they go to school, and participate in community programs, but yet are still stereotyped as criminals because of their appearance. One thing does not surprise me, but I want to mention is the short speech of Apple. A company, which is greatly collaborative, like Apple, has had the basis to success. A Seperate Peace Essay A Separate Peace Essay In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the protagonist, Gene Forrester battled within himself to find a separate peace and in this process directed his emotions at Phineas, his roommate. • 22. The Way Forward for Sainsbury The Way Forward for Sainsbury Sainsbury has had a long history of business success, something that it can continue for the foreseeable future if it maintains a cohesive business strategy, a strategy that is rooted in a larger cohesive corporate vision. This paper examines some of the key factors that the company must consider to be the foundation for a prosperous and profitable future. This analysis demonstrates that Sainsbury s executives understand that not only does the company have to plan and then put into effect good initiatives and good policies, but they have to sell the company s image as one that its customers want to share. Sainsbury s sells itself successfully by (also successfully) selling itself as a representative and purveyor of British values. The following analysis (including the scorecard at the end) provides an overall explanation and justification for the measures suggested that Sainsbury should take to achieve these indicators A content analysis of Sainsbury s annual reports as well as statements made by Chief Executive Justin King reveals what the company plans for its future in a way that is tacit, even coded. This should hardly be surprising: In nearly every act of human verbal or written communication there are nuances of meaning that go unsaid but that can nevertheless act as important signals between the parties and that can serve as equally as important as the explicit messages. Teens are changing rapidly as a result of changes in society and other changes. Few people want to speak to teens, but cannot do so anymore because most if not all the teenagers think they are grown. The people the teens associate themselves with or even spend time with is one the main reasons why they have been changing. Their friends contribute greatly in the decision making aspect of their lives; they manage to do this in numerous ways. The teens are now becoming reckless as they believe their friends are always right. This results in them being out of control where parents and teachers are unable to steer them in the right path or even talk to the teens. Teenagers are being involved in sexual activities and as a result, it has an impact on their social behavior, their risk of STD s and the risk of pregnancy. Some of these teens are very innocent but they love to follow their friends. Teenagers back in the days would be solely focused on their school work and house work if they had any. Nowadays, it is much different. As mentioned before, society has changed, and it has not changed for the best but the worst. Teens would never talk back to their parents at a particular point in time, unfortunately, that is what is trending now. How is it possible to disrespect the elders? Does that even make sense? No, it does not, but the activities that they are indulging in are causing these actions. Teens are sexually active as they are left loose and with no guidance as these parents are afraid to speak to their children. Any teenager would be, not knowing what the outcome would be. It can be noticed when these teens are involved in sexual activities as their manners, morals and self esteem are gone. Little good morning is said, but only when they feel like it or if they think it is necessary. Parents, teachers and some friends cannot even have a conversation with them as they are ignorant and behave rambunctiously when spoken to. These activities allow teenagers to be bold in the wrong way. Going to school with bite marks on them just to prove a point to their friends is one of the ways in which this ... Her older sister goes to sleepaway camp during the summer months and so in this piece of writing Child G talks about her weekend at her sister s camp reunion. This writing is part of a weekly classroom activity, weekend news . According to Gentry s five stages of spelling development, Child G s writing suggests she is in the phonetic stage, with some examples of transitional writing present (Gentry, 1982). In this piece of writing, the spelling of words has been based on the sounds they hear, one of the main components of the phonetic stage. This is most evident in the way she has spelt reunion, as reyouyen. This may be understood better by child G with the use of syllable games, such as clapping as saying words aloud to hear how many syllables are present. However, Child G does show knowledge of the rules with regards to words ending in e, which is evident in side. The National Curriculum states that children of this age should understand such rule (Department for Education, 2013a), which indicates that Child G is progressing into the transitional stage, and is starting to become less dependent on sounds when writing (Wyse et al. 2013). • 27. The Opening Of Japan And China Essay Jonah Noel December 3, 2016 The opening of Japan and China; A love story Throughout history, dozens of countries have adopted isolationist policies on countless different occasions. For example, in the United States in the 1930 s, many Americans felt that amidst the Great Depression, the government should focus its efforts on solving problems at home before intervening in international affairs. Furthermore, today, totalitarian dictators often isolate their countries in order to consolidate their power, as is the case in North Korea and Eritrea. Yet while isolationism itself was not unique to the 19th century, the manner in which both China and Japan departed from isolationist policies under imperialist pressures was unique. When Japan and China enacted isolationist policies in the 16th century, Japan and China were among the most advanced countries in the world. Both nations felt that they did not need to nor desired to interact with the rest of the world, or intervene in disputes between barbarians (Aizawa 348.) As a consequence, throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, neither country advanced much technologically. On the other hand, over that same period the west experienced and reaped the benefits of an industrial revolution that saw dramatic advances in mathematics, science, and technology. The west subsequently experienced significant economic growth, and western powers then began building empires in pursuit of further growth. As a result, when western powers ... The metric that will allow us to measure this behavior is pretty obvious the number of created and existing accounts. This behavior corresponds to the company s objective of motivating people to participate more actively in collaborative consumption. In this case, the metric that will be used for measurement is the number of matched deals that the system has generated by bringing sellers and buyers together. • 34. The Effect Of Abundance Of Nutrients On Plant Morphology... All plants rely on nutrients to help them repair damaged cells and grow, each nutrient with its own benefit. For example, selenium increases plant resilience within harsh climates. Plant morphology and growth is especially important for crops that are in high demand such as winter wheat grain which has one of the highest worldwide production rates. The effect of the abundance of nutrients on plant morphology is further investigated in this study. This study entails winter wheat seeds being placed in treatments of different concentrations of nutrients and observed and measured after two weeks have passed. By keeping the environment constant, the effect of each treatment was measured exclusively. The plants in the treatment without nutrients were noticeable shorter than those in the treatments which contained nutrients. The results found suggest that the concentration of nutrients is not as important so long as nutrients are included in the treatment. Nutrients are an essential resource needed for plants to grow and replenish. They can be divided into two main subgroups macronutrients and micronutrients. Most nutrients are absorbed through the root hairs and can be used to repair tissues as well as run important processes such as photosynthesis (Rush et al. 2016). Typically these objects are moving with respect to each other and their surroundings, so the resulting shadow will sweep through a region of space, only passing through any particular location in the region for a fixed interval of time. As viewed from such a location, this shadowing event is known as an eclipse.[5] Typically the objects involved in an astronomical eclipse are roughly circular in size,[5] and so the region of an object s shadow during an eclipse is divided into three parts:[6] The umbra, within which the object completely covers the light source. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one looks up at a clock. The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. Identification of an unknown compound is important to perform through the process of melting point (M.P), boiling point (B.P) and Infrared spectroscopy (I.R). Index of Hydrogen deficiency (IHD) and elemental analysis makes an experiment more efficient in determination of unknown compound. The color, odor, melting point and boiling point determines the physical state and properties of a compound. It also determines its volatility in respect to temperature. What is progressive education? In the attempt to explain what a progressive education embodies, we must first observe the traditional approaches to education. For example, in a traditional educational setting, the teacher is the ultimate leader in the classroom. In a couple of weeks, if days after, students do not retain this information because it lacks meaning, connection, and relevancy. Students are not able to connect to the information that they have just learned. So, we should ask ourselves, Are our students learning for the love of learning, or learning for the purpose of testing?
