1. Discursive Essay On Capital Punishment
Crafting a discursive essay on the topic of capital punishment can be a formidable task,
demanding a delicate balance between presenting factual information and navigating the
complex ethical and moral dimensions surrounding the subject. The inherent controversial nature
of capital punishment adds an extra layer of intricacy to the writing process.
One of the primary challenges lies in conducting thorough research to gather diverse perspectives
and credible data. The topic encompasses legal, ethical, sociological, and psychological aspects,
requiring in-depth exploration of both historical and contemporary contexts. The abundance of
conflicting opinions and evolving legal landscapes makes it imperative for the essay writer to sift
through a vast sea of information, carefully selecting relevant and reliable sources.
Moreover, constructing a discursive essay necessitates the skillful organization of arguments and
counterarguments. Striking a balance between advocating a particular stance and acknowledging
opposing views requires a nuanced approach. Developing a coherent structure that allows for a
logical flow of ideas is crucial to ensuring the essay's effectiveness.
The emotional intensity associated with the debate on capital punishment poses another obstacle.
Writers must tread carefully to maintain a respectful tone while discussing a topic that elicits
strong reactions from various quarters. Navigating the emotional landscape requires a keen
awareness of language choices and a commitment to presenting arguments with sensitivity.
Furthermore, grappling with the ethical implications of capital punishment can be mentally
taxing. The writer must confront profound questions about justice, human rights, and the role of
the state in administering punishment. This introspective aspect of the writing process demands
intellectual rigor and a willingness to engage with the complex moral dilemmas inherent in the
subject matter.
In conclusion, the task of composing a discursive essay on capital punishment is undeniably
challenging due to the multifaceted nature of the topic. Successfully navigating the intricate web
of legal, ethical, and emotional dimensions requires a skilled and thoughtful approach. For those

Caesar
Being honorable means to be loyal, respectful, truthful, and being about the
general good. An honorable man helps people in any way they can and are
dependable. In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Marcus Brutus is an
honorable man. He had a kind heart and was loyal to doing what s right. Brutus
was well respected by the people of Rome and always thought of his city before
making decisions. Brutus main reason for killing Caesar was for the safety of
Rome and the people. For example, in III.ii.21 24 Brutus says, Not that i loved
Caesar less, but that i loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living, and die
all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all free men? Brutus killed Caesar to
protect the people and would rather
3. Perceptions Paper
Perspectives:
Effects on Research and Writing
Every person s perceptions are entirely inimitable in their own way. Perception, in
itself, means to interpret the world around, in one s own way based on their
personally acquired morals, values, and fears. Our minds begin to examine and
interpret things using these traits. How does this all relate to research and writing?
After making interpretations, a person then begins to form an opinion about the
subject at hand. When writing, a topic is given and immediately the writer forms a
related opinion about the topic and thus, chooses an arguable side. The next step in
the process is to begin delving into researching that topic based on the side that has
already been pre disposed inside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writer is also quick to judge the man, an Irish man fresh from a pub , and
immediately assumes that he is mocking or stereotyping her solely based on her
expectations she has taken from her childhood. When in fact, the man on the bus
could have very well been stricken by her beauty and infatuated with the Latin culture
but, Ortiz Cofer, by design assumes the negative side of the situation. These views
that she has grown up to believe affect her way of thinking, which in turn affects
her writing. In an essay written by Horace Miner, Body Rituals among the
Nacrima Miner observes a culture through an outsider s perspective. Miner, an
anthropologist, studies the behavior and cultural development of the Nacrima. His
distant perspective can be seen when he describes the rituals in which the people
take part in as a В…. rite [involving] a practice which strikes the uninitiated stranger
as revolting. The culture he speaks of is that of the Americans and Miner
strategically uses word play to disguise this, fooling the reader into believing that
the essay depicts an older, less advanced culture. He uses this distance to his
advantage to force the reader to perceive the world we live in differently; One that
is ritualistic and practices magic in order to sustain survival. For example, Miner
states, the witch doctor has the power to exorcise the devils that lodge in the heads
of people who have been bewitched when

The Dark Hole Imagine sitting in a home and all of a sudden the house is
swallowed up by the ground. This has happened in recent years in Florida.
Sinkholes are occurring around the world as well as in the United States.
Sinkholes are pits in the ground. They form in areas where water sits. As the water
drains into the ground it dissolves caverns, usually were the bedrock is poor and
made of water soluble rocks like salt and gypsum or carbonated rocks such as
limestone or dolomite. Sinkholes, to some people, are known as swallow holes and
shake holes. Most sinkholes form slowly but when they collapse they fall suddenly.
Usually the sudden sinkholes swallow homes, people and cars. Sinkholes have

A word of caution about relying on market values within the stock market; stocks
rarely trade in large blocks similar to merger and acquisition transactions.
Consequently, if the publicly traded target has low trading volumes, then prevailing
market prices are not a reliable indicator of value.
Income Streams
One of the dilemmas within the merger and acquisition process is selection of income
streams for discounting. Income streams include Earnings, Earnings Before Interest
Taxes (EBIT), Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation Amortization (EBITDA),
Operating Cash Flow, Free Cash Flow, Economic Value Added (EVA), etc.
In financial management, we recognize that value occurs when there is a positive
gap between return on invested capital less cost of capital. Additionally, we
recognize that earnings can be judgmental, subject to accounting rules and
distortions. Valuations need to be rooted in hard numbers. Therefore, valuations tend
to focus on cash flows, such as operating cash flows and free cash flows over a
projected forecast period.

France is known for being one of the largest tourist sites as well as being known for
major historical events. Unlike the United States, France elects a president for a five

statistics stating the ethnic make up of the country. Some have stated that France is
mainly composed of Celtic and Latin people but other majorities include Franks,
Americans, Africans, Asians, and a few more minorities (The Translation

8. The Weimar Republic And The Rise Of The Nazi Party
After the abdication of the German Kaiser, Kaiser Wilhelm II, in 1918, Germany
attempted to turn their country into a Democratic republic. The Weimar Republic
was a parliamentary democracy that was formed after the fall of Germany in WWI.
The German people believed that the Weimar Republic was responsible for the
signing of the Treaty of Versailles , which significantly reduced the power of German
to defend themselves and rebuild their county at World War I
, the people believed that
the Weimar Republicstabbed the country in the back after the signing of Treaty of
Versailles . Some of the other major weaknesses that assisted in the growth and rise
of the Nazi party were:
1. The Weakness of the constitution
2. The French invasion of the Ruhr
3. Hyperinflation
4. The Great Depression although technically the Weimar Republic was in power
between the years of 1918 1945, most people believe that the power of the Weimar
government ended in 1933 when Hitler s Third Reich took over the country.
The Weimar Republic was a coalition government made up of eight major parties.
These parties ranged from Social Democrats and communists to the left and the
peoples parties to the right. Every seven years, a new president would be elected by
the people, all men and women over the a of 20 years old could vote for members to
be elected into the Reichstag, this also made The Weimar Constitution a democracy.
The Weimar Republic voting was based upon proportional Representation, whereby

10. Wage Garnishment Persuasive Speech
A friend once said to me, If you ever feel like no one notices you, stop paying your
bills . While we would definitely not recommend that you stop paying your bills,
the idea behind his comical advice is sound. If you stop paying your bills, your bill
collectors are going to come knocking. If you don t make contact with a bill
collector when you are behind on a payment, they may do worse than annoy you with
constant phone calls, they may go after your wages.
Wage garnishment is when someone to whom you owe money legally has it taken
from your paycheck. This can be done from almost anyone who you owe money to.
If you owe money on a student loan, child support, back taxes, credit card

plenty of time to address and combat the situations. For example, Armenians are
always differently classified than the Turks. a few warning signs for the
Armenians Genocide include the arrest of Armenian intellect in 1915. Other signs
people can look for include a group of people being treated less than human, the
group being considered second class citizen who has fewer rights than their

According to Barton and Hudson s Contemporary Guide to Literary Terms, a

the reversal of accepted truths or familiar ideas (189). Frederick Douglass uses the
chiasmus throughout his Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American
Slave to highlight the irony of slavery s existence in a country that was built upon the

When his mistress taught him to read, she sparked a fire of humanity inside him that
would continue to grow until it eventually overpowered his slave qualities, and cause
Douglass, the slave, to be made into a man.
The transformation from slave to man occurred both over many years and in the
space of a single afternoon. The Narrative in its entirety is a story of that
transformation, but the chiasmus found at the beginning of Frederick s fight with
Mr. Covey emphasizes that afternoon as the setting for the metamorphosis. In the
longer transformation, Douglass was made a man ultimately through his
willingness to take risks for the sake of freedom. He learned to read against his
master s will, taught his fellow slaves, and attempted escapes, all for the sake of
freedom. A slave could not exist as a slave forever with this burning desire for
freedom within him. This lifelong risk taking for the sake of freedom led up to the
climactic afternoon where the slave fought the master and regained his manhood.
When Douglass fought Mr. Covey, he regained his sense of pride that had been
taken away from him. Mentally and spiritually, he was free. It was only a matter of
time before he would no longer be a slave physically either. Douglass uses the
chiasmus to mark the beginning of this afternoon to ensure that his readers will take
note of its importance.
Douglass chose to mark the afternoon when his education was halted, the afternoon
that made him realize how important

In this thesis we have analyzed the effects of implementation of Relation Social
Intelligence (RSI), in Chinese firm. A qualitative literature analysis review was
performed in order to understand the main reasons why employees are looking for
new opportunities. We started from a high level analysis which was involving the
entire word wild job market narrowing down step by step to China reality. In this
prospective aspects related to Chinese`s core value are also analyzed. As described in
the thesis, they are important aspects which should be kept under consideration when
we start the implementation of RSI. As reported in literature there are several reasons
which might influence the employee`s decision to change their job and those reasons
might be related to personal, environmental and or cultural aspects. Those aspects
where considered during the implementation of Relation Systemic Intelligence in
China in pharmaceutical company. A transition from strong hierarchyleadership style
to a more social decision making style (RSI), was analyzed based on real data
collected on productivity, quality, hiring cost and percent of employee voluntary
turnover. Appropriate sets of data were collected during the period of initiation and
transition (2013 to 2016), the data were analyzed using regression fit analysis in
order to evaluate the correlation between variables.

Celestine s costume consisted of a papal hat and a necklace with a cross to help
portray his character as a pope. Charon wore a large black cloak to show how he
takes souls of the deceased from the livid shore and guides them across the dark
river. Also, Charon is wearing masks arranged to depict his flaming eyes. The
tormented shades are wearing athletic clothing to show that they are competitors in
a race. Props that we used included a book, a scythe, a cross, a banner, and plastic
insects. The book, used as a bible, and the cross were used to help portray the
holiness of the characters. The scythe was used by Charon to represent the recent
death of the souls waiting to cross. The banner was used as a sign at the entrance of
the gates of hell to set the location. The plastic insects were thrown at the
competitors to represent the tormenting of the waverers by wasps and flies. We
chose to begin our commercial at the stairs outside of school to symbolize the
entrance to a stadium or coliseum. Emily and I decided to film Celestine in the
cafeteria to portray him in an arena like were the race would take place. Our
original plan was to film Celestine s scene in the sophomore and junior commons
but they were blocked off and filled with chairs. We filmed Charon on one side of
the hallway to portray him as being on the shore of the Acheron. Eli Greer, David
Winters, and I acted in this commercial. Eli was chosen to be Celestine V because
he displayed the athleticism and attitude needed to portray his character. David
was chosen for Moses because he was able to capture the stoic nature of his
character and was able to present the change of emotion that we were looking for
from his character. I was chosen to play Charon because I was willing to wear the
two masks needed to represent his flaming eyes. Members of the cross country team

15. Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
William Golding fulfills Hobbes ideas about man with Lord of the Flies when Ralph
and Jack battle over chief authority, when Simon gets killed, and when the boys turn
savage against each other.
An example of Golding supporting Hobbes s ideas about human nature is when Jack
was trying to get the boys to vote Ralph off as chief by making his own group of
hunters. Hobbes describes man s nature to be, if any two men desire the same thing,
which... they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies; and... endeavor to destroy or
subdue one another. (Hobbes). With this quote, Hobbes is saying that if two people

Hobbes expresses his thoughts of man as, war consisteth not in battle only, or the
act of fighting; but in a tract of time, wherein the will to contend by battle is
sufficiently known. (Hobbes). With this quote, Hobbes is saying that what makes up
the idea to go to war or battle isn t the actual fighting but the choice of going into
this state to solve problems rather than a different way. This is shown in Lord of the
Flies with the boys, Simon, and the beast. Simon was trying to warn the boys about
the beast but was confused for the beast. When the boys thought they saw the beast,
they followed Jack s chant and order to kill it. Golding writes, The beast was on its
knees in the center, its arms folded over its face. It was crying out against the
abominable noise something about a body on the hill. (Golding 152). Here, Simon
was trying to protect himself from the boys as he tried to tell the boys about his
encounter with the lord of the flies. Jack and the tribe were so occupied and
determined to kill the beast, that they didn t tell the difference between a creature and
Simon. They don t really know why they re actually killing the beast because they re
just thinking about fighting and battling. These actions are what

uncle, King Claudius, was sane enough to choose the path of murder to claim his
throne. Throughout the play, Hamlet, at times, would fake insanity to investigate
what truly happened during his father s death. As he continues to go from being sane
to insane, the audience cannot tell if it is really Hamlet. Only when he speaks to the
audience during his soliloquies, that he is sane, or so we thought. Meanwhile, his

The reason Hamlet said My father s brother but no more like my father / Than I to

Heracles like how his uncle was to his father. After going through all of Hera s
tortures, Heracles was able to become a god without having to use physical force
to kill Hera. On the other hand, Hamlet has no other choice but to kill Claudius to
avenge his father. When the Ghost was asking to speak with him alone, Hamlet
had to gather his courage to confront his father s ghost, My fate cries out / And
makes each petty attire in this body / As hardy as the Nemean Lion s nerve (A.1

either his mother or his jealous stepmother. Unlike Hamlet, Heracles went to seek

17. How Is Blind Obedience Shown In The Tempest
Blind Obedience
In Shakespeare s The Tempest , the motif of masters and servants demonstrates
how the illusion of power can lead to blind obedience, as a result of the fear of one s
power, and the desire for freedom. Firstly, forcefully enforcing one s power on
another can have great repercussions. Caliban is compelled to act upon Prospero s
commands because of Prospero s gift of magic. In Act 1, Caliban states, I must obey.
His art is of such power (1.2.448 450). Caliban is terrified of Prospero, and hence is
forced to fulfill all of his orders, against his own will. Prospero constantly terrorizes
Caliban with the aid of his powers, and compels Caliban to perform all of his
bidding, causing Caliban to conspire against Prospero. This is a direct aftermath of
Caliban believing himself to be a victim of colonization and his anxiousness towards

Caliban and Prospero s interactions constantly strengthen the recurring motif of
masters and servants, signifying that one person possess power, while another is
subject to this power. Secondly, the perpetual desire for freedom influences one s
actions, consequently resulting in reluctant obedience. Ariel is in debt to
Prospero for saving his life, thus is obligated to attend to Prospero s every need, in
order to earn his liberty. Prospero threatens Ariel by reminding him of the horrible
conditions from which he came, he says, Has thou forgot/The foul witch Sycorax?
(1.2.308 309). Ariel knows that Prospero s gift of magic makes him more powerful
than the spirit himself and could result in Ariel being sent back to the torture he was
freed from. Hence, in a similar way to Caliban, Ariel s fear and his want for freedom
is what leads Ariel to willingly subjugate

use a certain amount of syllables throughout each poem. To His Coy Mistress uses 8
syllables per line, and Sonnet 138 uses 10 syllables per line. Another obvious
similarity is that they both end with a couplet. They both also tell a story. The
differences in the poems are that To His Coy Mistress is arguing why they should
get on with life, and Carpe diem whereas Sonnet 138 is telling us about how he

Towards the end of the engagement dinner the Birling s parlour maid Edna enters
the room to explain that an An Inspector s Called . The most important thing about
this sentence is the word called , it s a word that is usually used in informal
conversations. That s what makes it so deceptive, Edna says An Inspectors Called
as if the Inspector is just dropping in for an informal chat and something to eat, but
it s quite the opposite really. The way the Inspector operates may appear casual laid
back and spontaneous but he has only one objective and he uses his single minded
and calculating ways to get the results he wants. He likes to work systematically
dealing with one person and one line of enquiry at a time; he confronts each of
them with a piece of evidence before breaking them down and making them talk.
Sheila understands this when she says He s giving us the rope so that we ll hang

discussion on to a different topic as and when he chooses, after he first enters the

20. Maurice Ravel Allusion
Maurice Ravel by Isabelle Libbrecht
In partial completion of STTA English for David Block
Maurice Ravel was one of the greatest composers of the impressionist period, and
through his experiences as a musician and composer he managed to leave us with
over 80 masterful works which are still performed today. (Mawer, xi) Though not
fully understood at the time, Ravel was acknowledged as France s greatest living
composer from the time of Claude Debussy s death to his own, and he continues to be
just as respected as Debussy. His precise orchestration remains expressive and lush
through means of written rubato and a vast array of instruments rarely paired
together in a symphonic setting. Taking great influence from his teachers but still
remaining independent, Ravel turned classical music on its head and constantly
pushed the boundaries of what could be achieved by performers in the 20th century.

Ravel was rumoured to have been in a relationship with his close companion
Ricardo ViГ±es, and although there is no concrete evidence of this it is true that
Ravel never married and lived in a time which was much less accepting of
homosexuality. If this was in fact the case, it would make sense to infer a large
part of the reason Ravel kept this secret was to refrain from dishonoring his
parents, specifically his mother. (Irvy 17). Ravel composed two more works in
1897, one of which was the famous Sonata pour Violon et piano in one movement,
which was well received by the public (Hecht 1). This helped further his public
image as a composer, though still involved with his studies at the Paris Conservatoire.
Ravel would grow to be of the opinion that Violin and Piano were incompatible
instruments and this sonata is full hearted, lush music on exalted heights of emotion

21. The Ship Of Theseus Paradox Essay
The Ship of Theseus, also known as Theseus Paradox, is a thought experiment that
questions whether an object is fundamentally the same object after having all of its
parts replaced. The story goes that Theseus, a mythical hero of Athens, went on an
endeavor to kill the Minotaur who had been harassing the townspeople. When
Theseus returned successful, his ship was left in the harbor to commemorate his
victory. Consequently, the ship s planks had deteriorated and were replaced one by
one. Thus, the question begs: is this the same ship, or a different one? Throughout
this paper I will argue the stance that Theseus ship is not the same ship nor has it
ever been the same ship the second it left the port in which it was built. Theseus s
Paradox is entirely built upon perceptionsomeone s view of the ship is different (no
matter how minuscule) compared to the next person. Hence why philosophers differ
so much on the subject. However, the idea of human perception can be taken into
account when discussing this question. Because no answer to this question can be
true, is precisely why one answer has to be more true; the ship is different. Take into
consideration perception to apply an identity to an object means that the object was
perceived by an observer. The observer selects attributes of its subject in order to
serve his/her purpose; the attributes assigned to the subject become the basis for its
identity. Therefore, identity has no meaning apart from being a branch of
22. American Airlines Flight 1420 Accident Using The SHELL
Model
Abstract
As a collaborative case study, we analyzed the American Airlines Flight 1420
accident using the SHELL Model. The SHEL Model was developed by a Professor
Elwyn Edwards in 1972 and it was later modified to the SHELL Model by a human
factors consultant named Frank Hawkins. We can see all the human factorsthat were
involved in the accident utilizing following aspects software, hardware, environment,
liveware and liveware. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) conducted
a thorough investigation and determine that the American Airlines Flight 1420 was a
runway overrun accident caused by human factors.
The SHELL Model has proven to be an useful tool when it comes to using the
human factors and aviation safety. On this case study, we will use the details from
the NTSB report from the American Airlines Flight 1420 NTSB to study all the
factors of the SHELL Model that were contributed to the accident.
Liveware Software
Multiple factors were contributing to American Airlines fatal accident in 1999. To
identify the factors and different issues with American Airlines Flight 1420 the
SHELL model will be used. One of the major cause of this accident was a
breakdown in Liveware Software. Liveware Software investigates procedures,
manuals, checklists and standard operational procedures (ICAO SHELL Model,
2016).
NTSB ruled that the main causes of the accident were the decision to land in a
thunderstorm and that the crew did not arm the spoilers (NTSB, 2001).
23. Examples Of Deviance In The Office
The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania
and focuses on the lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the
course of nine years. It has many characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott,
the regional manager, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly,
the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has displayed many sociological
concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender, socialization and
social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Officeis displayed
mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton. While he appears to be a

In the episode Gay Witch Hunt , one of Dunder Mifflin s employees, Oscar Martinez,
is outed by the regional manager, Michael Scott, to all his employees. After he does
this, Oscar has to deal with the repercussions of being gay in the workplace, some
of which include dealing with homophobic questions and attitudes towards him,
especially from his more conservative co worker, Angela Martin. Later in the show,
Angela gets married to the senator of Scranton, and has a baby that, is later
revealed in the episode Jury Duty , conceived out of wedlock. The baby doesn t
end up being the senator s at all, but is instead another Dunder Mifflin employees ,
Dwight Schrute, after the two had an affair. Lastly, sexism in the workplace,
especially in the episode Back from Vacation , is shown to be a fairly large issue.
Michael Scott spreads around a picture of Jan Levinson, the vice president of sales

What would you do if you had to suffer every day from a life threatening illness that
was debilitating and incurable? Over nine hundred million people throughout the
world die each year because of incurable diseases such as cancer, HIV, and AIDS
(What par 1). The number of people that suffer from these varying illnesses is slowly
increasing, but the use of pharmaceutical drugs is helping to solve this problem. The
pharmaceutical and medicinemanufacturing industry has produced a variety of
medicinal and other health related products undreamed of by even the most
imaginative apothecaries of the past (Pharmaceutical par 1). Every day, millions of
lives are saved with the use of these medications, and they allow these innocent
people to live ordinary lives (Pharmaceutical par 1). According to William Lang,
Vice President of policy and advocacy for the American Association of Colleges of
Pharmacy, There s an increasing number of people with chronic illnesses, and the
primary management tool available for dealing with chronic illness is medication
(Thompson par 10). While some take medications for simple health issues such as
headaches, the flu, or minor colds, others use them to aid in the treatment of more
serious illnesses such as pneumonia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune
disorders, and cancer(Pharmaceutical par 2). Doctors and hospitals prescribe
hundreds of thousands of new medications each day to patients, and many of these
prescriptions range in cost

actually determines how likely you are going to suffer from heart disease. The first
research study on the correlation between baldness and heart disease was conducted
almost 60 years ago, in 1954. The shocking research results aroused much attention of
the science community. As baldness had been found to be very common from the
middle aged onward, the general public became very aware of the conclusion of the
positive relationship. Many subsequent research studies have been conducted
afterwards, in order to gain a more thorough insight into the notion, and most
importantly, to disclose

Assessment in Music Education has been a hot topic for some time now. Questions

education. Since the early 2000 s, the education system has adopted standards on the

is their job to entertain and impress people with their balancing skills. Many people
enjoy watching going to these events and witnessing the phenomenal gift, including
the juggler. In Richard Wilbur s poem Juggler literary devices such as figurative
language, vivid imagery and diction are used to depict the speakers amazement and
admiration towards the juggler and the juggler and his remarkable expertise as
someone who brings joy to people. In the first stanza Wilbur uses personification,
diction and tone to portray the juggler as someone who gives the balla meaning. In
addition, the speaker s interest in the juggler is revealed. For example, in the passage,
it states, A ball will bounce, but less and less. It s not / A light hearted thing,
resents its own resilience. (Lines 1 2) In this quote the speaker uses personification
to reveal that the ball is not bouncing in a cheerful and joyous way. Instead the ball
resents its own resilience . The speaker emphasizes the word resents , evoking in
the readers a sense of solemnity and seriousness. Furthermore, by describing that the
ball bounces, but eventually comes back down the speaker makes a comparison to
life and how there will always be highs and lows.
Moreover, the speaker s admiration for the juggler is present when the speaker
states, It takes a sky blue juggler with five red balls... (Line 6) Astonished, the speaker

We all have life events that shape who we are. For me, that event was the two
mission trips that I went on with my church. Beginning in the summer of 2013, some
of the youth from Christ Church in Warwick, NY, traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica, to
start the construction on an Episcopal Church. We then returned in the summer of
2015 to continue our work on the same church, Iglesia Episcopal La AscensiПЊn.
What I didn t know, was how much these trips would impact my life. On each trip,
we visited this one, really special elementary schoolthat was funded by the Episcopal
Diocese of Costa Rica. This school is located in a very poor area of the city
causing the student body to be mostly underprivileged children. My experience in
2013 was the most memorable. We visited the school on a Monday morning and all
the small children were just returning from the weekend and playing in the
enclosed play area. Our Youth Group walked through the hallways waving, smiling
and laughing with each and every child we passed. Since we had some free time, I,

It s easy to see why not much attention is paid to Callisto. For four hundred years,
Callisto appeared only as the fourth dot away when gazing at Jupiter through a
telescope. It also didn t help Callisto gain attention by orbiting Jupiter. Jupiter may
be one of the most intriguing objects that astronomers have yet to study. Jupiter is
the king of the planets. With its complex bands and zones, Great Red Spot, and
sheer size, Jupiter has captured our imaginations and has pushed us to learn and
explore all we can about it. Now, with our Pioneer, Voyager, and especially Galileo
spacecrafts, we have uncovered mysteries of Callisto that give our minds and
imaginations quite a workout.

Either the atmosphere is transient and was formed recently or some process is
currently supplying carbon dioxide to the atmosphere (Carlson, 1999).
As the Galileo spacecraft flew by Callisto, it detected a slight magnetic field. This is
explained only through a model where Callisto has a salt water ocean below its
crust, with the magnetic field being induced by the Jovian field (Thomas et al.,
2002). Callisto s moment of inertia C/MRВІ is calculated to be 0.3549 В± 0.0042.
This figure is too small for Callisto to be completely undifferentiated, but it is too
large to have separated completely into a rock core, water mantle, and ice crust
(Thomas et al., 2002). The interior of Callisto is partially differentiated into six
different layers; an ice layer, a water ocean, a three layer ice rock mantle, and a rock
iron core (Kuskov 2005).
Constantine Thomas has created a model of the interior of Callisto called the
ONIONSKIN model because it calculates moment of inertia of a satellite based on
many thin concentric shells. The ONIONSKIN model uses 10,000 equally spaced
shells from core to surface, and then uses the summation of these figures to determine
the moment of inertia for the whole of Callisto. (Thomas et al., 2002)
The silicate rock core is the point of major uncertainty in the internal structure of
Callisto.
It is related to the equation of state of rock iron

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the
horror humanity faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some
passed and some failed. The worst traits of humanity were exposed during the
outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly that the darkness
of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who
had these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with
different ideals, to fight back or bringing out the best in people because I inspired
them. That was not true. It was thanks to true humanity. The humanity I always
knew existed. It s just that it was always suppressed by the darkness of humanity. If

In Cormac McCarthy s novel The Road, a man and his son live in a somber post

novel paints a clear picture of the aftermath. The boy and his father spend their days
traveling through the dark and cold landscape while trying to make their way south,
which they hopewill bring warmer weather and easier times. Throughout their
dreadful journey, the pair deal with many terrible and heart wrenching situations
that seem unbearable; but each time, the man and the boy push through by keeping
their faith in hopes of having a better life. But holding on to hope in what seems to be
a hopeless world proves to be difficult as they face issues such as cannibalism, a lack

and doubt throughout the novel, The Road shows that even though some people may
have everything taken away from them, it s better to keep a strong faith than to give

repugnant (or in conflict with) to the constitution. Judicial review has for the courts,
become a self made license to strike down legitimately made legislation by
democratically elected representatives. It has been a tool to restrain laws that are in
the bill stage by the threat that if the bill materializes into law then at its first
challenge the court will strike it down.
In a democratically elected society it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is exemplified by an individual who has brought a case through the court or
legal system. Now that its at the U.S. Supreme Court the person seeks to have the
words under God removed from the pledge of allegiance (the success of this case is
unlikely because of how the court has a conservative right wing majority). Another
example of a group with their own agenda undermining democracy is the ACLU
(American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is seeking to repeal the Bush
administration s highly touted Patriot Act. This is an example of a group that is
making it their mission to skirt the proper channels of American democracy and use
the judiciary to get sweeping policy change with or without the consent of the
governed people.
Judicial review has become the tool of choice for all the public interest law firms. It
is through judicial review they are able to get (properly enacted) laws struck down or
thrown out. Judicial review goes from being a tool with the intent of protecting the
constitution to manipulating the legitimately enacted laws.
In conclusion of the second argument against judicial review, it is inappropriate for
individuals and groups to have the ability to make frivolous attacks on laws that are
democratically enacted. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to clog the judiciary with
requests such as removing under God from the pledge of allegiance when they
should speak to their congressman or senator over the

39. Legislators Must Satisfy Both Constituents’ and
Partisan’s...
The Constitution of California expects legislators, which includes both State s senate
and House of Representatives, to influence agency decision making, to build political
support for increases or decreases in agency funding to lay the political foundation
for new programs and policies, and to capture media attention and enhance the power
of the California State Congress members. However, not all legislators are able to
fulfill their duties and comply with the state s expectations. Indeed, their efficacy to
serve California varies on the length of their experience, familiarity to government
system, and commitment to public service. Evaluating their performances for the
past ten years, legislators can be distinguished by their competence... Show more

Thus, most legislators always allocate enough personnel and staff resources for any
constituent services such as handling casework and managing pork barrels
strategically. Also, they become efficient as they continue to devote their time,
informing their districts about the activities happening in the capitol, maintaining
good communication, and consistently explaining relevant issues that will impact the
lives of their constituent and even the entire California voters. Indeed, spending
great deal of time with their own districts help legislator to understand the needs of
their constituents and know whether their responsibilities are being accomplished.
Secondly, lots of political experiences and legislative active participations are needed
in order to become an effective lawmaker. In order to make bill a law, mastery of
legislation procedures and well rounded tactics are necessary to bargain and
compromise effectively with the competing demands of other legislators, parties,
and constituents. According to Gerard Padro Miquel and James M. Snyder, Jr. s

effectiveness is due to investment of human capital through hands on experiences.

The Psychology of Hitler
It is no surprise to very few that Adolph Hitler is one of the most infamous humans
ever to have been born. To this day, the mention of his name can conjure up
emotions deep within us. He is responsible for the deaths of millions of people
either directly or indirectly. The fascinating aspect of his life is what was the true
motivation behind his prejudice, cruelty, and heartlessness. The next logical
speculation for most would be his upbringing or that he was physiologically unstable,
more logically it was a combination of the two. However, before that conclusion can
be made the history of his environment as well as how heredity could have influenced
him.

pain. The doctor, Bloch who was Jewish, diagnosed her with breast cancer. She had

recommendation of Bloch to do a painful and expensive treatment with consisted of
applying idoform directly into the ulcerations caused by the cancer. However, the
treatments did not work and in late December of that same year, she passed away.
Ironically, Bloch had seriously reduced the charges owed for Hitler s mother s
medical bills; Hitler had told Bloch that he shall be grateful to you forever.
While it is my opinion that the parenting practices of Hitler s youth did influence him
somewhat, I am not convinced that they played a big enough role to create the man
that Hitler became.
Hitler was raised sternly however was doted on by his mother, this seems to be
normal for the time period. While his father Alois was legitimate, it was also rather
irrelevant. Hitler was not chastised by anyone because of his father s illegimaticy.
He showed a huge interest in war and socialism at a young age, in fact it was one of
his father s books that piqued his interest originally.
Hitler s father was a contradiction. He was a civil servant, obedient to the law and

will learn some more about culture, lifestyle, occupations, language, and also a little
extra information. Although there are many social type organizations within a tribe,
the Siouxhave very distinct lifestyles. Most of the Sioux s are close with their
family and are loyal within those relationships. The majority out of their religions
are Animism. Animism is when a person has a very religious or spiritual idea about
the universe and that the universe has a soul and spirit itself. That is within the
mountains, trees, animals, rivers, rocks, plus more. I am sure that there are also
unknown religions and/or some of the tribal people are unaffiliated. When it comes
to occupations, it is the typical mom stays at home and does house work and the dad

43. Building A Waddell A-Truss Bridge
Building a Waddell A Truss Bridge
Introduction:
Bridges have been used for thousands of years, beginning with natural formations,
such as huge rock arches (Appendix A). The first bridges made by humans were
most likely simple spans of wooden tree trunks laid across streams, or planks, such
as rafts tied together (Gascoigne, 2001). These simple designs evolved over time, as
new materials became available, to form the hundreds of bridges we use today. Some
basic bridge designs include truss, arch, beam and suspension bridges. The most
basic of these is the beam bridge (Appendix B1), which consists of a deck, spanning
a relatively short distance, that is held up by a pair of abutments (vertical supports at
either end). When weight is placed on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that it excessively designed, and can create excessive burdens on the
cost, size and complexity (Sade, 2014). When designing large bridges, these three
factors (excessive cost, size and complexity) regulate if a bridge is built, or if a
different design is chosen. The Waddell A truss bridge (Appendix C) is a truss
bridge designed by engineer John Alexander Low Waddell. It was built in 1898, as
a short span railway bridge, and is one of only two bridges remaining which had
the A truss design. Due to its high trusses, it is quite rigid in all directions, and it is
easily erected as it has a simple design (Syazwi, 2013). These are some of the
reasons why the Waddell a truss design was chosen. It is simple to create out of the
materials which can be used (Manila folders) as it consists of beams and bars, as
well as some gusset plates (Appendix C). Not only this, but the design allows it to
hold quite a large amount of weight, in spite of the fact that a folder is not
necessarily strong. However when folded, it may be surprising how much a small
piece of card can actually hold. Manila folders were used to create this bridge
because they are inexpensive, easy to cut bend and glue, have surprisingly predictable
structural behaviour and can be used to build tubes, bars and strong

The Threat of Censorship
The First Amendment of the Constitution distinguishes Americans from other
citizens in the world. The right to free speech, press, and religion is at the core of the
Americanvalue system. As a result, when thesefreedoms are challenged people tend
to react strongly. However, at times government officialsand theirconstituents would
argue that censorship, or other violations of Constitutionalrights, are legitimate. With
the advent of new technologies, politicians createnew policies to gain control over
these technologies. This attempt to exertcontrol appears in the legislation geared

To illustrate the ways Congress structured the bills to censorthe Internet it is
necessary to look at the specifics of the three bills. The first of these three bills to
beintroduced was the Communications Decency Act of 1996. In general, this Act dealt
with many issuesregardingtelecommunications and obscenities. The major goals of
this billwere: 1)obviously label sites that have graphic material, so as to be

Because land is costly and scarce, adding more highway lanes and building new
airports in or near our larger cities is becoming increasingly difficult. For example,
adding new highway capacity in urban areas typically costs more than $15 million
per land mile, and a new Denver airport is estimated to cost $3 to 4 billion.
Current transportation technologies are petroleum dependent, accounting for 64
percent of total petroleum use. Without transportation alternatives that reduce
petroleum dependency, transportation related petroleum use is expected to remain
high 36 percent above our own US petroleum production, so we will have to get the
oil from other countries which will raise taxes on oil imports, possibly creating
national security problems.
High speed ground transportation systems are capable of approaching the speed of
airplane flight while offering some of the flexibility of the automobile, such
systems can provide added capacity in dense corridors around the world. Because of
its very high speed, it will be more likely to attract medium distance air travelers and
highway drivers than high speed rail.

47. A Brief Note On Israeli And Japanese Pregnancy Processes
Tsipy Ivry s book on Israeli and Japanese pregnancy processes is an important work
towards feminist anthropology and the study of pregnancy and birth in
anthropology. The focuses of pregnancies brought to term in Israel and Japan, and
the U.S. have many differences. The importance of genetic testing in the U.S. and
Israel, and the lack of importance of it in Japan is very interesting and culturally
based. In an updated paper from 2011, Rayna Rapp expands on birthing practices
and childbearing in New York City, in regards to genetic testing. Rapp also spread
their studies into how western reproductive technology has spread to developing
nations and the phenomena of wealthy westerners heading to less economically
developed countries for IVF, stem cell, and other reproductive treatments and
services. For example, embryotic tissue is regarded differently and more secularly in
India than many Euro American discourses and thus many seek medical treatment in
India that are from other countries. The IVF process greatly effects marriages and
depending upon its success further impacts partnerships and marriages, as well as
gendered expectations of motherhood and fatherhood. Many women in rural
countries, in good health, will donate their eggs too for monetary gain. Furthermore,
IVF can be complicated by cultural and religious beliefs and practices. For example,
in Israel traditional IVF is banned but obtaining eggs from other non Jewish women
is permitted, or in Sharia Iran, the

Issues in the School Setting and Bully Prevention Programs
A positive school climate is definitely essential to effectively prevent bullying
behaviors, thus it is vital for school personnel to understand what constitutes a
positive school climate. A simple definition for school climate is the quality and
frequency of positive interactions between students at school, the quality and
frequency of positive interactions between adults at school and equally important is
the quality and frequency of interactions among and between adults and students at
school (Wang, Berry, Swearer, 2013). Likewise, but more comprehensive, school
climate involves far more. It considers the quality and character of school life and is
based on patterns of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The literature indicates that students are more prone to bullying behavior if the school
climate is not healthy for example when students recognize considerable conflict,
unfairness, and lack of support in the school atmosphere. The two theories mentioned
previously in this literature review supports that a positive school climate is essential
to effectively prevent bullying behavior (Wang, Berry, Swearer, 2013).
There are a variety of barriers to implementing an ideal bully prevention program in
schools. For example, the severity of bullying may be underestimated, lack of a well
trained faculty and staff, and other important issues, such as academic performance
and graduation rates. However, bullying indisputably is a prevalent problem that can
result in many negative outcomes as outlined previously. Thus, an ideal anti bullying
program could help to decrease potential negative consequences and increase
achievement. An effective anti bullying program would consider activities that deal
with vital issues involved with the problem of bullying. For example these activities
would include school faculty, student, and parent involvement, educational
approaches with students, interventions with bullies, victims, and bystanders, and
systems level interventions (Sherer Nickerson).
Implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports to fidelity is an ideal
approach to breaking barriers and bully prevention.
49. Analysis Of The Film Dead Man Walking
Introduction The theoretical perspective I found most convincing when analyzing
the behavior of the main character, Mathew Poncelot, in the film, Dead Man
Walking, are the ideologies of sociologist Max Weber. He believed that rather than
only focusing on one s social actions, it is instead important to understand why
people do the things that they do (Long Crowell). Empathizing with individuals
and identifying their perspectives explains one s rationales behind each choice
and behavior (Long Crowell). By gaining an understanding of an individual s point
of view, we can make sense of their reality and how their perceptions affect their
role in our world (DuBose, 2015). Weber s theory supports that Poncelot s behaviors
can be explained by evaluating the rationale behind the factors that influenced and
affected the choices he made. His childhood experiences, family values, education
level, social class, and economic status were crucial factors when explaining why he
became the person he was. Furthermore, the combination of Poncelot s thoughts and
actions were based on the experiences and social interactions he encountered.
Throughout this analysis, I will reflect on the various theoretical perspectives
discussed this semester and what I have learned from each of these concepts. I will
address why I found Weber s theory most convincing and apply connections between
theories as they relate to understanding social problems and the values of daily social
work practices.
50. Essay on The Oresteia
The War of the Sexes in Eumenides
In this essay I will examine the war of the sexes taking place in The Eumenides, the
final play of The Oresteia. The plot of The Eumenides pits Orestes and Apollo
(representing the male gods and, to a certain extent, male values in general) against
the ghost of Clytemnestra and the Furies (equally representative of female values.)
Of more vital importance, however, is whether Athene sides with the males or
females throughout the play.
The character of Orestes is somewhat down played in The Eumenides and in fact his
role is far less significant than that of Apollo. Our first sight of Orestes sees him in a
contradictory stance at Delphi, Orestes holds a suppliant s branch in one hand, ...

Robert Fagles Trans., lines 200 201, Penguin Classics, 1977.) Throughout the play
the character of Apollo is used to draw attention to the physical discrepancies
between the male and the female with his references to light and darkness but more
importantly with the vital question of birth, I give you proof that all I say is true.
The father can father forth without a mother. Here she stands, our living witness.

The Furies provide the stark contrast to Apollo s character. He is the new god, he
stands for patriarchy, light and politically he is far more liberal. (Orestes) O God
of the light, Apollo, how will the verdict go? (Leader) O Night, dark mother, are

dead and those who see by day, now hear me! (Aeschylus, The

Death
Every culture has a unique ideas of the afterlife. This paper will compare how two
ancient societies viewed the afterlife. The ancient societies to be discussed are the
Egyptians and the Chinese. This paper will compare and contrast the two views in a
limited way. It will consider what this suggests about the two cultures. Lastly, it will
consider which is closer to modern American beliefs. Egyptians and Chinese both
believed in a life after death. In Egypt, people were buried with thought to
preservation, as they believed that the dead would be able to use their bodies in the
afterlife. They believed that life after death would be extremely difficult. To survive
in the afterlife, the ka needed the corpse to remain intact, and that was only possible
through technique of mummification. A priest had to perform the, Opening of the
Mouth, ceremony over the mummified body, whereby all the incantations restored
all the senses to the body. Speech especially was needed, since the Egyptians had to
justify their time on earth upon arrival at the Hall of Judgment. The other senses
were needed immediately because the first trip after death was to the Field of Reeds,
the land of wish fulfillment. Having to pass through seven gates, aided by... Show

Chinese burial practices had two main components: tombs and their contents, and
ceremonies to honor the dead, performed in temples and offering halls by their
relatives. The rites observed at his funeral were elaborate versions of those common
throughout China. Ancestors were considered an important influence on one s life,
and their continued existence in the afterlife a certainty, prayers were offered both to
those who had gone before and to the principle of divine harmony to aid the dead

horse soring, a topic that has been booming for horse owners and horse lovers in the
United States and other foreign countries for the past forty years. This issue has not
only been affecting the horse population, but its controversy has spread and became
a huge issue in our government. People use soring to win competitions in a very
cruel way. Nothing about this issue seems very fair to me whatsoever.
The HPA otherwise known as the horseprotection act, passed as a bill by congress
in 1970 to ensure the protection of all horses from soring in shows, sales, auctions,
and practices. The bill in 1970 stated it to be cruel and inhumane to force a horse to

Its a Competitive World Out There. Unfortunately there are people who make
