Introduction
•Directing/Direction is a function of management
performed by top level management in order to
achieve organizational goals. It is very important and
necessary function of management.
•Management has to undertake various activities like,
guide people, inspired and lead them as well as
supervision of their activity is required in order to
achieve desired results.

•Direction consists of the process and techniques utilized in
issuing instructions and making certain that operations are
carried as originally planned.

•Initiates action- Leader is a person who starts the work by
communicating the policies and plans to the subordinates
from where the work actually starts.
•Motivation- He motivates the employees with economic and
non-economic rewards and thereby gets the work from the
subordinates.
•Providing guidance- A leader has to not only supervise but
also play a guiding role for the subordinates.

•Creating confidence- Confidence is an important factor
which can be achieved through expressing the work
efforts to the subordinates.
•Building morale- A leader can be a morale booster by
achieving full co-operation so that they perform with best
of their abilities as they work to achieve goals.

done from people. An efficient work environment helps in
sound and stable growth. Therefore, human relations
should be kept into mind by a leader.

•Co-ordination- Co-ordination can be achieved through
reconciling personal interests with organizational goals. This
synchronization can be achieved through proper and
effective co-ordination which should be primary motive of a
leader.

MARK CUBAN
Mark Cuban (born July 31, 1958) is an American businessman,
investor, author, television personality, and philanthropist. He
is the owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, co-owner
of 2929 Entertainment and chairman of the AXS TV.
Described as someone with "a different job or different career
goal every other week.
He believes in something called “LEAD BY EXAMPLE”
According to him there is no job in his company that he is not
willing to do and if you are asking someone to go the extra
mile for you…you should have the capability to do the same
for him.

Goal Setting Theory Of Motivation

Goal setting theory refers to the effects of setting goals on
subsequent performance Locke found that the individual
who set specific and difficult goals perform better than those
who set general , easy goals.

and Fortune Magazine . The policy includes Maternity benefits of a
maximum of 18 weeks off at about 100 percent pay, On-site car wash,
oil change, bike repair, dry cleaning, gym, massage therapy and hair
stylist, Lunch and dinner is available free of charge , Flex Timings.

In management Co-ordination is the unification, integration,

provide unity of action in the pursuit of common goals. It is a
hidden force which binds all the other functions of
management.

arrangement of group efforts to provide unity of action in
the pursuit of common goals”.
