Abstract
Cloud computing is became a very important aspect of the business world with the tremendous increase in usage of the databases that are enabled to be available with the internet. Usage of social media, mobile commerce and e-commerce, which are public services, increased when they are linked to cloud. A $31 billion dollar growth is identified in the past five years (C. Lakshmi Devasena, 2014). Not depending on the size of the business, cloud computing has been adopted in all business types right from small to large. The importance of cloud computing and the impact of it on the business are discussed below.
Introduction: For any kind of organization to run and operate, it has to depend on various technologies and cloud computing is one amongst them which has more sophisticated features that helps the organization’s functioning much smoother. Before the cloud emerged, the organizations were depending on the traditional methods of running the applications on LAN or a computer. Cloud computing is enabled to run multiple application on a shared multi-tenant, which gave easier access to the platform. Each organization, now days, started using the cloud technology as it proved to reduce the operational costs. Being a self-service based technology, cloud computing has given easier access to the applications by logging in and to customize them to the choices of the customers and his needs (Velte, A. T., Velte, T. J., & Elsenpeter, R. C 2010).
Why did Cloud Technology Emerge: The major reason for the cloud technology to emerge is on the technical side and those reasons are explained below.
1. Rapid growth of computers and communication technologies: The growing demand in computing for technology, data communications and the computing devices were the key reasons for the cloud technology to grow and evolve.
2. Management Methodology changed: The data was stored manually on the premises, LAN or on computer by the organizations a decade ago. But when these organizations have to meet the global competency, they had to invest so much time for the improvement and development of the business and this caused the organizations to start outsourcing the IT projects, so that they get that time required to think about the business enhancements.
3. Computing capacities availability exceeded: The giant companies like Amazon and google started providing the needs of computing, and this has become the major reason for the demand of cloud computing.
Advantages of Cloud Computing in the world of business:
1. Cost effective: The services provided by the cloud computing work in pay-as-you-go style, which is a very sophisticated model, giving the option for organizations to pay only for the services they use. No additional costs incurs to the company expect the service.

From the Internet toward Worldwide Commerce
The Internet offers many resources, but its lack of robustness in service, security, and reliability renders it an interim solution to a true global information infrastructure (GII) that supports worldwide commerce. The development of such an infrastructure depends on more than improvements in technology however; for the GII to be commercially robust, issues concerning regulations, security, and cultural diversity must also be resolved.
The Global Information Infrastructure (GII) is defined as an environment that uses high-performance hardware, software, and communications to deliver voice, data, video, graphics and other information regardless of where the information or user is located.
The GII will be the information highway of the future. Today, the infrastructure is the Internet. This article describes the Internet and, from time to time, moves forward to the GII. The components of the information highway -- people, communications media, communications networks, data bases, agents, information providers, and bridges -- and their interrelationships are shown in Exhibit 1.
THE INTERNET: USERS AND APPLICATIONS
The exact number of Internet users is not known. Estimates range from 10 to 100 million users with interconnecting networks stretched around the world. In 1994, there were approximately 20,000 networks in the US, and 1,500 each in the UK, Germany, and Japan. In countries such as Russia, South Africa, and South Korea, networks numbered in the several hundreds. In developing countries such as China, Kuwait, and Egypt, three to five networks were typically operational.
Current Internet applications include:
· Find/learn -- through data bases and descriptions.
· Talk -- through E-mail, voice, and video.
· Work -- accomplished through cooperative work, telecommuting, and videoconferences.
· Shop --using catalogs and electronic malls.
· Play -- using games and video on demand.
· Invest -- through stock market advice, order placement, and money management.
INTERNET SERVICES
Internet applications are delivered through a variety of services (see Exhibit 2).
E-Mail. E-mail, for example, provides capabilities for sending messages addressed to individuals or to mailing lists. It is much faster and less costly than traditional postal services. However, Internet E-mail goes through multiple nodes and is subject to delay. Furthermore, there is no address directory.
Newsgroups are a natural extension of E-mail. They allow users to post messages for anyone to read. Another extension of E-mail is computer conferencing. In essence, a computer conference is a file devoted to a specific topic being discussed by a group of people.
Telnet. Telnet allows users to access a remote computer as though it were a local machine. Regardless of where they are located, users can retrieve E-mail messages and download them to the local computer. Typ ...

to the number of different activities involved in the process.
There are 3 essential components that form the core of all digitization
process:
• People - Scanning operators, Graphic Designers, Subject curators etc.
• Processes - Institution specific best practices/standards
• Infrastructure - Scanners, Image Processing software, OCR etc.
The biggest challenge, therefore, lies in bringing all these individual
components together on a common platform to ensure communication,
consistent levels productivity & quality and overall process efficiency.
26. As the digital capabilities multiply, consumer demands will rise in
four areas:
1. Now: Consumers will want to interact anywhere at any time.
2. Can I: They will want to do truly new things as disparate kinds of
information (from financial accounts to data on physical activity)
are deployed more effectively in ways that create value for them.
3. For me: They will expect all data stored about them to be
targeted precisely to their needs or used to personalize what they
experience.
4. Simply: They will expect all interactions to be easy.
27. Over the next several years, we’re likely to see
the consumer experience radically integrated
across the physical and virtual environment.
Most of the technologies needed to make this
scenario happen are available now.
One that’s gaining particular traction is near-
field communication (NFC): embedded chips in
phones exchange data on contact with objects
that have NFC tags.
The price of such tags is already as low as 15
cents, and new research could make them
even cheaper, so more companies could build
them into almost any device, generating a
massive expansion of new interactive
experiences.
29. Every organization wants to secure their network connectivity to their business
data and applications. The need to connect and collaborate with partners,
customers, and remote/mobile employees anytime and anywhere has
expanded network connectivity requirements beyond traditional wired Local
Area Networks (LANs) to include dial-up remote access, virtual private
networks (VPNs), and wireless networks.
Enterprises are competing globally to provide access to information, to
enhance productivity, and to deliver services quickly—all at the lowest possible
cost. The ability to communicate and collaborate with partners, suppliers,
customers, and employees anytime and anywhere is now a requirement. Gone
are the days when only a selected group of people had network access to
business applications and data.
The advent and acceptance of new computing technologies and the Internet
have changed the way information is stored, accessed, and shared.
30. Companies have implemented a more open and distributed information
model resulting in benefits that include:
Increased Employee Productivity: Enables employees to be flexible, make
better decisions, and respond quickly to the changing demands of the
marketplace by providing secure access to the information they need
anywhere at anytime.
Lower Cost: Decreases costs and increases efficiency by safely leveraging the
power of collaboration and network connectivity.
Integrated Business Processes: Increases sales by enabling closer relations
with customers and partners through secure communications and
collaboration.
To take advantage of these benefits, companies need a secure IT
infrastructure that can minimize security risks and decrease the costs of
security management and operations.
31. Businesses and other large organizations require continuous high-speed data
connections in order to function effectively in today’s fast-paced environment. This
need for high-capacity communication will continue to grow for several reasons.
First, BYOD revolution is gathering momentum and fast. Today employees use two to
three devices in their offices, not to mention that employees not just access files or view
emails but also access bandwidth intensive applications like YouTube etc. Poor speed
connectivity has proved to drop employee efficiency by almost a third.
Second, applications that had been considered high-end or esoteric are finding
increased use in businesses to the point that they will soon become “must haves.”
Especially, the applications using multimedia (video and/or audio). Presentation software
is incorporating sophisticated graphics and multimedia for their impact and ability to
quickly communicate complex information.
Third, while most businesses have networked the computers within any given facility
there is a clear need for enterprise-wide networks that connect buildings and campuses
within a city or region. It makes no sense to have instant access to information within a
building but to end that free flow of information at the building walls. High-speed data
connections allow all departments and groups, regardless of physical location, to share
information in real time.
Fourth, video conferencing is gaining support. “Virtual meetings” allow more team
members to interact while minimizing time away from the office. Efficiency is
maximized. The connection option that makes this possible and affordable across
campuses and metro areas is often a point-to-point broadband wireless link.
32. Fifth, Internet traffic has increased exponentially. Customers routinely use
web browsers and web-based communication, creating considerable traffic.
Email with large presentations and files clogs small pipe connections. Files of
all types are increasing in size to the point that sending and receiving data
over a slow connection is simply too time consuming. Business decisions
can’t be put on hold while data is being transferred over low capacity lines.
Sixth, emerging IT practices such as network storage and networked backups
require large data pipes. Networked storage involves Network Attached
Storage (NAS) where storage resides on the network. Network backups
provide cost savings by allowing one large tape device located in one
building to back up the servers found in multiple buildings.
Finally, providing a redundant connection to protect the network against
disasters is another important application that requires high-speed
connectivity to function reliably and efficiently.
