2. The cover of this digipak represents Katy Perry well
as its very feminine. The cover is taken from her
music video, ‘California girls’. The clouds are oink
and fluffy and shows a fantasy land, just like in her
music video it’s a fantasy candy land. The image is
almost sexual as she is naked but is covered by the
fluffy clouds.
The colour pink is very stereotypical to the pop
genre and is used a lot throughout the digipak, this
creates a brand identity for Katy, and the colour
pink usually is a stereotypical representative of girls
and being feminine.
The font of this cover is very much like candy which
reinstates the music behind the album. The swirly
texts reminds me of sweets, and the ‘teenage
dream’, is coloured like a piece of candy.
Referencing back to this sweet, sort of mystical land
a lot. It’s very fun and Feminine. Her pose is slightly
sultry the way she’s posing but because of Katy’s
intended audience it’s seen in a slightly different
way.
3. The images used throughout this
digipak work alongside her music
video, the setting is the same. The
pastel pinks an blues represent the
pop genre well they also conform
well with Katy’s persona.
There is a brand identity throughout
her work, you can clearly see all the
links, her images are identical to her
music video, the only difference is
her real hair is used instead of a wig.
The idea of candy is
followed throughout
the digipak with the CD
covers looking like
candy, the image
conveyed it that its
sweet and girly.
Katy's posing is slightly suggestive as she lay
but the cotton candy clouds create a sense
of innocence too.
The digipak contains a parental caution, this
means that it has explicit content and is crucial
to show if that is the case as it may be
unsuitable.
4. The writing follows the idea of candy and
the ‘o’s are replaced with candy this
really emphasises the fact that its all
about a candy dream.
The font of the text is fun and looks
energetic, the album looks like it has
been created for a teenage girl. The
colours add emphasis on this as it’s set up
very stereotypical for a girl.
The back piece contains a barcode which
is crucial for selling. Down the bottom is
all the information about producers and
copyright, it’s essential to have copyright
if not someone could just copy you and it
wouldn’t be an original piece.
The background of the fluffy clouds has
been displayed on each piece, it flows
throughout the digipak and creates one
piece that all works together.
