Diet Compliance
Dietary compliance for a severely restrictive diet is often bland and unpalatable to patients; as such,
compliance with the diet can be challenging and an undesirable method of treatment. This study
uses a token economy to reinforce compliance with a long term medically advised diet, spanning the
study over the course of four weeks. Between meals and snacks, there are multiple opportunities
each day for a patient to break the diet, which may have adverse health consequences for the patient.
For this reason, it is crucial to modify the behavior of the patient in order to achieve the maximum
medical support and health benefits.
Diets can be particularly tricky for college students eating on a budget. The student in the following

Their study focused on four patients between the ages of 11–18 (two males and two females) over
an average of twelve months. The token economy was used to reinforce safe eating habits of the
patients as they awaited renal transplants, therefore, the program was only a temporary requirement.
The token system followed an ABA design. First in the procedure, weight, BUN levels, and
Potassium levels were measured in order to track and compare the dietary behavior and adherence in
patients throughout the study. In the intervention phase, medical staff routinely took measurements
during dialysis. For each measurement within the target range specified for each child, the child
could earn 2–3 points. Eighteen points had the equivalence of two dollars to be used towards
purchasing toys or other items in a prize bank. All items in the prize bank were chosen by the
children before beginning the study. Points were accumulated and presented on a chart made
available to medical staff and patients to provide further motivation, and could be traded in for
prizes at the end of the week. Results showed a significant relationship between the implementation
of the token economy and acceptable weight loss, BUN and potassium levels. The effectiveness of
this study is partially due to the variety of prizes offered and the lack of parental support needed to

Un Nuevo Mundo As I placed the car into park, turned the key off and stepped into the crisp cold

The Genre Of Cult Film
The area of study to be explored is genre and my investigation will look into ways we are able to
clarify the vast genre of cult film. Speculated by theorists such as Sconce, Jancovich and many
others, cult film is one of the most diverse and ambiguous genres of the past 60 years in motion
picture history. Beginning in the 1950s with unconventional flicks like Plan 9 from Outer Space and
The Blob, cult film as a 'quasi–genre' began to not only reject one set of stylistic conventions, but
also started to expand into various sub–genres that it could 'umbrella'. Highlighted by Sconce in his
study, '[cult film] would include entries from disparate sub–genres such as "bad films"...and just
about every other manifestation of exploitation cinema ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, those who construct and encode ideologies and messages into cult films need to
know and implement a repertoire of elements that will go against the pleasures of recognition and
provide a more sophisticated and untraditional narrative experience. Whether through manipulating
time and space, or providing powerful subject matter, it is through these technical and visual codes
that the text will continuously challenge audience expectation and draw a preferred or oppositional
reading to the weird and wonderful it tries to represent. As argued by Thornton, 'it is not defined
according to some single, unifying feature shared by all cult movies, but rather through a 'sub–
cultural ideology' in filmmakers, films or audiences are seen as existing in opposition to the
mainstream.' Therefore, the audience appeal for cult film is not only through its quirky and
abnormal generic values, but also through the plurality of artistic control that is held by the auteur
and its audience's desires. In order to go into more extensive detail, I have selected Nicolas Winding
Refn's Drive and David Fincher's Fight Club – two contrasting texts with diverse ideologies and
technical codes yet both linked by

Pirates Of The Caribbe On Stranger Tides
Hollywood today spends more money on movies than ever before, with an average budget of $140

Poem Analysis : Frost At Midnight By Samuel Taylor Coleridge
The name of this is "Frost at Midnight". It was written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It's a traditional
piece of poem. My overall first impression of "Frost at Midnight" Is that it's a love poem due to
these words "Dear Babe". Once I saw "Dear Babe" I immediately thought that this poem is going to
be about a woman that he's either in love with or his describing the woman of his dreams. He could
also be describing the night that he met the woman of his dreams. The word "Dear Babe" is why I
said that this poem is a traditional poem. This poem is not a sonnet. It has a total of four stanzas. The
characters are the author himself, Samuel, his infant child and the stranger. The stranger is the snow
I believe that he calls the snow a stranger because it's something that he does not know or interact
with. The theme of this poem is that we should take our time to admire nature's greatness. Nature
can teach us many wonderous goods as long we let it. He's also telling us that we cannot fight
against nature be since he compares it to God. The "Frost at midnight" is in the first–person point of
view. It's in the first person because the author is the telling the story and is using the word I. The
rhyme scheme of this poem is A, B, C, D, E, F. "The frost performs its secret ministry, Unhelped by
any wind" I can see that the snow is falling and covering everything around, but at the time and
speed that the snow falls it makes you think that it does want you to see what it's in the moment that
it's doing it. "The thin blue flame Lies on my low burnt fire and quiver not" The fire is about to die
due to low fuel and stays perfectly still. "Thou, my babe! Shalt wander like a breeze by the lakes and
sandy shore" I can picture the person walking very slowly as if they were a snail. The poem took
place on a winter night in Samuel's house after everyone in the house had gone the sleep he went to
his infant cradle. As the poem unfolded the setting shift to a school. The other places that this poem
visited were a town, lake sandy shores. The Church bells symbolize the type of music that the old
man used to listen to. The stranger symbolism the frost, the snow. Dear babe symbolizes the amount
of love that he has for his

better manner. Many customers took complaints to the Jack Link's Facebook page about extremely
moldy meat before the said expiration date. Some bloggers took notice of this as well when they
were faced with a bag of moldy grey meat. Blogger Zack the Bear fighter of "Lost Angeles" had a
total of 93 responses on his complaint post alone. If news of the bad meat were to go viral, it could
severely damage Jack Link's reputation for quality jerky. Another issue with the moldy meat is the
manner in which Jack Link's handled these complaints. Commenters on Facebook quickly took
notice of the cookie–cutter response to their justified displeasure and felt like it was a stark contrast
to the personal replies to positive comments left by other "friends". Even after the cookie–cutter

A Meal Plan For A Meals
No matter how you choose to plan out your paleo meals, it won't take long for you to get the hang of
it and it will come as natural as picking up that take out menu. The option to go with a meal plan
service may prove to be a good way to get you into good habits. Try out a sample, free, or trial
program and see what works best for you and your household. This, paired with some good paleo
knowledge of what you should and shouldn't eat, will help give you the necessary skills to plan
meals on your own in the future. 4.) Have Snacks Ready While it isn't a requirement of your paleo
diet to snack, most of us start searching for a snack at some point or another during the day or late
evening. Obviously, most of the go to snacks we have all come accustomed to grabbing from the
pantry are off limits. But, that doesn't mean you have to give up your daily snack all together; you
just need to switch it out for a healthier, paleo option. Try some of these simple switches: If you
normally go for a sweet snack, try going with a naturally sweet fruit. While fruits are still high in
sugar, they are natural sugars that are good in moderation. Eating a hand full of fruit is the simplest
switch, but possibly boring to some. With a little effort there are other options, such as, homemade
fruit leather, pure dark chocolate, homemade fruit popsicles, etc. For a savory snack substitute, some
popular options are nuts, baked zucchini chips, homemade trail mix, hardboiled egg, homemade

Shakespeare's Henry Plays – A Comparative Study of Falstaff on Film
The Character of Sir John Falstaff is an integral part of any adaptation of Shakespeare's "Henry"
plays. The treatment of this character effects the way the production will be taken by the audience as
the treatment of Falstaff is directly related to the understanding of the character of Prince Hal (later
Henry V). Kenneth Branagh's Henry V, the BBC versions of parts one and two of Henry IV, and
Orson Welles' amalgamation Chimes at Midnight all show Falstaff in different lights, producing
three different takes, not only on the character himself, but also on the interpretation of Prince Hal,
and the entire workings of the production.
In the case of Kenneth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an abbreviated sort of version of the rejection scene, Prince Hal (Branagh) shows his intense link
to Falstaff by conveying his lines of rejection and banishment without spoken words, choosing
instead to use his facial expressions (assisted by a voice over by Branagh) to illustrate his thoughts.
Falstaff's reception of Hal's non–verbal meaning shows the fact that Hal and Falstaff are linked
beyond friendship and family, while the words themselves show that despite this union Hal has no
qualms about using Falstaff to achieve his ends. The humanization of Falstaff changes the way we
look at the character of Henry V and the production as a whole, as with Falstaff so much more pure,
Henry is seen as the Machiavel he must become in order to succeed his father.
The BBC versions of Henry IV parts one and two show Jack Falstaff (played by Anthony Quayle) as
a different sort of character altogether. In these productions the lecherous, unhealthy, and alcoholic
qualities instilled in Falstaff are accentuated to a nearly morbid respect. While, unlike Branagh, the
screenwriter leaves the lines intact, those lines that commonly evoke humor tend to evoke pity, or
disgust instead. Quayle's appearance is not that of a robust jester who promotes joviality and wins
the affection of the audience, but rather is a sickly, fat man who drunkenly forces his words out of
the side of his mouth. While this Falstaff accentuates

Cult Film : Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive And David...
The key concept to be explored is genre and my investigation will revolve around focused research
on the expansive genre of cult film, as I look to not only elaborate on it, but also try to clarify it.
Utilising the work of theorists Sconce, Fiske, Austin and many others, I will base my research
around two contrasting texts that are both connected by cult film – Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive
and David Fincher's Fight Club, analysing not only how their technical and visual codes help to give
them cult status, but also how their audience appeal ties in with niche psychometrics and cult film
overall. Since its beginnings in the 1950s with movies like Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Blob,
cult film has never utilised one set of conventions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case can also be reemphasised by theorists Fiske and Jancovitch too, as both have looked to
create compelling connections between audience reception procedures and cult film also. What's
more, many of these theorists have also come to contend theoretical responses about the conception
of 'resurrection' in cult film – the ideology that one way for a film to achieve its cult status is
through being 'revived' from its bumpy origins in production or commercial disappointments at the
box–office through the lasting appreciation of niche audiences. This therefore means that the film
will survive in an oppositional context to what Fiske declared as the 'more "normal" popular
audiences' of that period. In addition, it is this ideology of 'resurrection' within cult film that David
Fincher's Fight Club illustrates. "'Fight Club' sold 13 million DVDs. It paid for itself." proclaimed
auteur David Fincher, whose text back in 1999 was financially unsuccessful, but soon gained cult
status through its DVD releases and fandom events that were a commercial hit. Subjectively
following the point of view of Brad Pitt's rebellious protagonist Tyler Durden and his coming of age
society, Fight Club is a present–day touchstone for audiences to recognise the

Berkshire Industries PLC
Overview and History
Berkshire Industries PLC was founded in 1852 in Manchester, England. "In 2002, Berkshire was a
medium sized, publicly held corporation, focused on the beverage and snack foods industry"
(Merchant & Van der Stede, 2012, p. 439). They employed almost 3,500 people, with an annual

foods. Berkshire believed operating in a decentralized manner worked best for their company.
New System Berkshire operated on an EPS financial measure system early on, with a bottom–up
planning process to find earning targets among the four divisions. Top management believed it to be
important to meet the analysts' EPS expectations; therefore, targets were set together with a 10%
profit reserve at the corporate level. Senior management, which consisted of 40 of the 3,500
employees, had a yearly incentive plan for the division or corporation, covering 20–90% of their
base salary. Berkshire was a public held company and shareholders were concerned about the
existing plan. Shareowners and manager's interests were not aligned, as the EPS was rising but the
share prices were not. Shareowners were concerned that EPS was not a good performance measure,
as management mantra was to maximize shareholders value. Bonus awards were also a concern,

Snacks are a great place to sneak in an extra fruit or vegetable you may not be consuming at other
meals. A green smoothie is a great and filling afternoon snack that can help pack in 2–3 additional
servings of fruits and vegetables. Your afternoon snack may also be a great place to add in an extra
serving of calcium from a Greek yogurt or a handful of almonds, which contain about 75mg per
serving.
If you are looking for healthy snack, first be calorie–conscious. A snack should provide no more
than about 100–200 calories, as it is not meant to replace a meal. Your first choice for snacks should
always be fruits and vegetables. A little bit of protein, such as a Greek yogurt or a small serving of
nuts, can also help reduce hunger until the next meal arrives. Try these date and almond protein balls
that provide some healthy carbohydrates plus protein to make the perfect mid–day snack. Or try this

Doritos Competitors
Doritos: A Dangerously Successful Franchise Doritos have been around for 54 years and counting.
The brand is always coming out with new exciting flavors, but the Nacho Cheese flavor has been a
classic favorite. The company has recently decided to change up the classic by producing a 30–
ounce bag that they sell at wholesale stores, such as Costco. Because these chips are sold in such a
large quantity, buyers often save more money rather than buying multiple bags of the standard size.
Buyers have many other new opportunities with bags this large. Many of them purchase chips like
these for parties or large gatherings. The chips are sealed in a sachet bag that keeps them fresh until
they are opened. This essentially makes the large bags a nonperishable ... Show more content on

A few years ago, Doritos partnered up with Taco Bell to create the new Doritos Locos Tacos. This
was a great hit with both companies and is still very popular today. Taco Bell simply gave customers
an option to buy tacos with a taco shell made from Doritos tortilla chips. It is promotions and
changes like these that make it easier for the company to engage in non–price competition. Doritos
need to stay as cheap as they can because the target market is young college students and children.
There is also no specific tax on the product because they are simply chips and only general sales
taxes apply. The price of the chip stays relatively cheap because if the price was raised, then their
target market would buy the cheaper chips that are similar to the product. Rather than raising prices,
the company tries to sell more of their product by simply being different. Doritos also chooses to not
discriminate pricewise. Much of the product is sold at the same price, regardless of location. Prices
tend to vary based on how much of the product is being sold (or by bag sizes). Even the production
of these tortilla chips is relatively cheap. According to Jeff Smith, author of the GRIID, a 99–cent
bag of Doritos costs about 01 cents to produce. Along with the process of production, the
government really does not have much to do with the price or how the chips are produced. The FDA

Jerk Seasoning
While much of the unique flavor of the jerk style of cooking has to do with the type of wood used to
smoke the meat, a lot of has to do with the seasoning. Jerk seasoning's seasonings flavor is as
complex as it is pungent. While it has a distinctive flavor, it can be replaced if you cannot find a
prepackaged blend or are out of it. If you need a jerk seasoning substitute, consider the options
below.
Make your own
As with many spice blends, the easiest way to replace it is simply to make your own. Like most
spice blends from outside of the US, traditional jerk seasoning is usually made by the cook. Making
your own blend may be more necessary with jerk seasoning due to the fact that its ingredients do not

The Pros And Cons Of Sun Based Pokemon
Sun based Pokemon are better than Moon based Pokemon in design, abilities, and execution. By
Jeramie Fisher The sun and moon have always been a constant presence and source of inspiration
for human beings, ranging from deities to simply providing warmth and a beautiful sight to see.
Humans have always had opinions, some stronger than others, and today that topic will be discussed
in reference to a popular video game series, Pokemon. Now in order to keep opinions from being
too broad and contradictory The subject will be focusing on the Sun based Pokemon against its
counterpart; because face it every Pokemon is weak to something and for the most part Pokemon
matches are decided by what someone brings to the table. Execution, which is by far the most
factual way to prove that Sun Pokemon are indeed superior to Moon Pokemon, is placing them
directly against each other in an actual fight without the aid of others and seeing who has the upper
hand when facing off solo. The first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Scarlet Letter : Revenge And Revenge
What would you do for revenge? Would you seek it out till the end, or let karma handle fate? The
vengeful, and sickening Chillingworth from Hawthorne' Scarlet Letter, let revenge consume him, a
character that shows this same character flaw, is Tom the cat, from Tom and Jerry. Tom is a very
curious, and mischievous cat, whose only daily routine is to torment the innocent little mouse, Jerry.
These two characters have three distinct resemblances, both spend most their lives seeking revenge
on their fellow characters, both only end up hurting themselves as a result of this revenge, and both
do not fulfil the desire to gain revenge, and end up with an unsatisfactory ending.
These seemingly cynical characters are similar because they both crave the same thing in life,
revenge. Chillingworth is consumed by the hope of psychologically torturing Dimmesdale. One
example of this is when Chillingworth brings home some herbs, "I found them growing on a grave,
which bore no tombstone, or other memorial of the Deadman, save these ugly weeds that have taken
upon themselves to keep him in remembrance. They grew out of his heart, and typify, it may be,
some hideous secret that was buried with him, and which he had done better to confess during his
lifetime" (pg. 108). After this con, Dimmesdale became consumed with guilt to the point of
punishing himself by starving, and whipping himself. Whereas Tom spends most of his days chasing
the little mouse, Jerry, trying to catch him, and then

Analysis Of The Movie ' Pirates Of The Caribbean ' On...
B–MOVIES: FROM RAGS TO RICHES Hollywood today spends more money on movies than
ever before, with an average budget of $140 million per movie. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On
Stranger Tides'; the most expensive movie ever made; cost approximately $378.5 million and that
was five years ago. This isn't surprising since history is witness to a rising trend in money spent on
movies, however, even after adjusting for inflation, their impact on the industry isn't as large as their
budgets. Over the years, lower cost productions like B–Movies have played a major role in carrying
the industry forward by keeping it stable, moving and profitable in times of trouble. B–Movies came
to be the need of the hour after The Great Depression and World War II. Money was tight
everywhere and Hollywood could not continue making extravagant movies therefore they turned to
low budget commercial films. These movies not only have an economical significance in
Hollywood, they have made more than one contribution to the industry. These low risk movies
provided directors, writers and producers with a wide scope for experimentation and led to the
creation of many genres and sub–genres. The origins of B–Movies are humble but over the years
that they grew in Hollywood, they became more significant and successful, yet their progress from
"Rags to Riches" remains more a behind–the–scenes heroic act than a superhero effort. B–Movies
originally came into being to serve the purpose of being the second class

Using The Heat Energy Equation
INTRODUCTION (Pre–lab)
What will be the amount of energy contained in specific snack foods? This question will be solved
by using the heat energy equation, Q=mCΔT. "Q or q" will represent the heat in joules, this will be
found algebraically by filling in the rest of the heat energy equation. "m" will represent the mass in
grams, this will be found by finding the mass of the water. "C" will represent specific heat in
Joules/grams °Celsius, the specific heat of water will always be 4.184 J/g°C. "ΔT" will represent the
change in temperature, this will be found by subtracting the final temperature of the water by the
original temperature of the water. Capital Q means that heat will be added–endothermic. Lowercase
q means that heat will be lost–exothermic. The law conservation of energy says that energy will not
be created nor destroyed, but will be converted from one form to another. The percent error equation
will be (accepted–experimental) ÷ (accepted), accepted is the Cal/g on the snack food's package, and
the experimental is the Cal/g that is calculated during the experiment. The independent variable will
be the Marshmallow, CHEEZ–IT, Cheetos, and Chex–mix. The dependent variable will be the
energy in either Joules/grams or Calories/gram because the amount of energy depends on the snack
food. The controlled variable will be the amount of water in the calorimeter because the water will
be the same amount in every trial. A bar graph will be needed to determine which snack food

than other colours. Thus, we've used the colour red prominently throughout the ad in order to
quickly convince the reader to purchase your product. Most of the image has been taken up by this
bold red, resembling a fire burning in the background. This forces the image to stand out
immediately to the target audience, sparking a flame in them and commanding their focus. The red
represents the same important characteristics as Jack Link's Beef Jerky; strength, power, and
assertiveness. The bold red contrasts with the man's dull grey shirt to further get the idea cross that

(1) The online shopping has become popular;
(2) The consumer desire for snacks and the demand for health;
(3) Market demand: in the snack food industry, the demand for healthy snacks is unmet.

Developing savory rosti–crsps (cast study 6)
Most people see the snack market as dynamic and innovative, but actually it is surprisingly
conservative. Most of what passes for product innovation is in fact tinkering with our marketing
approach, things like special offers, promotion tie–ins and so on. We occasionally put new packs

product ranges. Rarely though does anyone in their industry introduce something radically different.

A Well Dinner At The Family Table
A well–prepared dinner at the family table was a staple of my childhood. Arriving home from a long
day at school, I could always expect my mother to soon make her way to the kitchen to begin her, as
she called it, "second job." College life and all of its responsibilities, however, have flipped my
expectations of my day–to–day eating experiences. Keeping a log of when and why I am eating has
opened my eyes to the reality of food no longer being a priority in my life. I eat when I can afford
the time as other obligations take my focus. Food has also mostly lost its human qualities. I now feel
as if I am merely consuming to allow myself to continue functioning as opposed to enjoying food
for its quality or savoring a social aspect. The first thing I immediately noticed from my food journal
was the minimalistic nature of my diet. I begin the average weekday by consuming something
unimaginative, such as oatmeal or a sandwich, before making my way to campus. After my classes,
it is nearly three in the afternoon when I attempt to contemplate what I will next have. This midday
meal usually consists, yet again, of something lackluster and repetitive. Many of these meals are a
basic sandwich or include a baked potato. Beyond that meal is a guessing game as to when I will eat
again. I try to push back eating as long as I can so that I can accomplish as many responsibilities as
possible. Only once hunger has brought itself to the forefront of my consciousness will I then again

Diamond Foods Accounting Scandal
Diamond Foods Accounting Scandal
BACKGROUND:
Founded in 1912 as a walnut grower cooperative, Diamond Food's primary business involved
buying walnuts from local California growers, processing the product, and reselling it. The San
Francisco–based company converted from a cooperative to a public corporation in July of 2005,
issuing its initial shares for $17. By 2010, Diamond Foods (DMND) had expanded and acquired a
number of snack food companies including Kettle Brand® Chips and Pop Secret® popcorn and was
negotiating the acquisition of the Pringles brand from the Procter & Gamble Company
(Diamond Foods, 2014). The addition of the Pringles brand would make Diamond the second–

The details of how these costs were pulled apart and separated will be further explained in the
following section.
From the beginning Diamond had put a focus on the commodity walnut market. The company had
forged strong relationships with the growers of the nuts and held pride in continuing the positive
relationship throughout the future of the company. So as the growers began to hand down larger
costs, Diamond needed to find a way to ensure that the growers got the full amount they were
seeking in order to keep ties strong and avoid the growers leaving Diamond for one of its
competitors, while also continue to meet the earnings per share (EPS) expectations. According to the
case filed by the SEC in 2014, "In February 2010, Diamond CFO Neil instructed members of the
Finance Team to adjust the walnut costs to hit an EPS target for the second quarter. "Members of the
Finance Team provided Neil with a walnut cost estimate that would result in reported EPS that
would be higher than the consensus analyst of estimated $0.47 per share for the quarter" (SEC,
2014). However, the growers were not satisfied with this method of determining prices and
threatened to leave Diamond if full costs were not received. Neil determined a way to close the gap
through "continuity" or "momentum" payments. This technique allowed Diamond to pay the full
amount that the growers were giving, but separated the costs out. Diamond only the portion on the

College Cafeteria
College Cafeteria and health Eating Behavior of College Students and The Use of Cafeteria The
interlocked relationship between cafeteria, emotional snacking and prevention of eating disorder
symptoms may seem impractical. Despite coming from a different scope of study, these topics are
indirectly related. Cafeterias, in colleges and universities, not only offer different types of foods,
snacks, and beverages, but they play a major role in the molding healthy lifestyle of students.
University students are at a critical phase in their lives to decide about their health and eating
behavior (Mann and Blotnicky). Health complications resulting from poor eating behavior such as

The Tale Of A ( Former ) Dim Star
The Tale of a ( Former ) Dim Star By Alyssa L. Harrison, 10 years old, fifth grade Meet Blackie.
She's the main character of the story. She's an eighth grader and an amazing artisan. She was born
on October 23, 2003 and she is an only child. Her parents tragically died when she was only ten. She
is an Anisa, who lives in Sogenia. Now that you know most of the stuff, let's jump into the story,
shall we? I couldn't sleep. I looked at my somewhat dim, water powered alarm clock, wondering
what time it was. 7:43. Way early. Despite being awfully comfortable, I got up, figuring I was just
hungry. As I walked the the kitchen, I pondered about my snack. Carrots and orange juice usually is
the best choice. ( This is actually a good midnight snack! You should try it! ) I made it to the fridge.
As I opened it, I took in the cold air against my warm, cozy fur. Then I realized, that I was sweating.
I dropped the blanket I had wrapped around me. Much better. I grabbed my carrots and orange juice,
dragged the blanket behind me and took my time getting back to my room. I hopped onto the bed
with my snack in hand, and turned on the TV with the remote. The button let out a quiet 'click!' as I
pushed the smooth, plastic button, before the TV turned on. She put the remote back onto the
nightstand, where it was before and grabbed her Neeno ™ ( A gaming system in this world )
controller. She pressed the on button, which turned on the Neeno ™ console. As Blackie reached to
grab her mic,

Diet Compliance

  • 1. Diet Compliance Dietary compliance for a severely restrictive diet is often bland and unpalatable to patients; as such, compliance with the diet can be challenging and an undesirable method of treatment. This study uses a token economy to reinforce compliance with a long term medically advised diet, spanning the study over the course of four weeks. Between meals and snacks, there are multiple opportunities each day for a patient to break the diet, which may have adverse health consequences for the patient. For this reason, it is crucial to modify the behavior of the patient in order to achieve the maximum medical support and health benefits. Diets can be particularly tricky for college students eating on a budget. The student in the following study will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their study focused on four patients between the ages of 11–18 (two males and two females) over an average of twelve months. The token economy was used to reinforce safe eating habits of the patients as they awaited renal transplants, therefore, the program was only a temporary requirement. The token system followed an ABA design. First in the procedure, weight, BUN levels, and Potassium levels were measured in order to track and compare the dietary behavior and adherence in patients throughout the study. In the intervention phase, medical staff routinely took measurements during dialysis. For each measurement within the target range specified for each child, the child could earn 2–3 points. Eighteen points had the equivalence of two dollars to be used towards purchasing toys or other items in a prize bank. All items in the prize bank were chosen by the children before beginning the study. Points were accumulated and presented on a chart made available to medical staff and patients to provide further motivation, and could be traded in for prizes at the end of the week. Results showed a significant relationship between the implementation of the token economy and acceptable weight loss, BUN and potassium levels. The effectiveness of this study is partially due to the variety of prizes offered and the lack of parental support needed to succeed (insert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

English 111 Narrative Paper Kaleigh Loehmer English 111 January 26, 2012 Un Nuevo Mundo As I placed the car into park, turned the key off and stepped into the crisp cold winter air, I begin to feel my pulse raise. With each step we took drawing us closer to the door, I felt my heart beating faster. With a quick turn of the ice cold door knob, I found myself standing in a whole new world. The food, the music, the faces, the language, everything was different than what I knew. For the first time in my life I was the minority in my small home town of Winamac, Indiana. I was having so much fun, we didn't stop till 5 a.m. . Celebrating the New Year with people you don't know, let alone can barely communicate with seems absurd. Most people would be quick to say no thank you, I believe that I too would have been that person to turn down this opportunity if it weren't for it being my boyfriend's family. I am so thankful and happy that I did get to experience this. I was scared and nervous at first, but this experience has opened my eyes to so many more opportunities. • 7. The Genre Of Cult Film The area of study to be explored is genre and my investigation will look into ways we are able to clarify the vast genre of cult film. Speculated by theorists such as Sconce, Jancovich and many others, cult film is one of the most diverse and ambiguous genres of the past 60 years in motion picture history. Beginning in the 1950s with unconventional flicks like Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Blob, cult film as a 'quasi–genre' began to not only reject one set of stylistic conventions, but also started to expand into various sub–genres that it could 'umbrella'. Highlighted by Sconce in his study, '[cult film] would include entries from disparate sub–genres such as "bad films"...and just about every other manifestation of exploitation cinema ... Whether through manipulating time and space, or providing powerful subject matter, it is through these technical and visual codes that the text will continuously challenge audience expectation and draw a preferred or oppositional reading to the weird and wonderful it tries to represent. As argued by Thornton, 'it is not defined according to some single, unifying feature shared by all cult movies, but rather through a 'sub– cultural ideology' in filmmakers, films or audiences are seen as existing in opposition to the mainstream.' Therefore, the audience appeal for cult film is not only through its quirky and abnormal generic values, but also through the plurality of artistic control that is held by the auteur and its audience's desires. In order to go into more extensive detail, I have selected Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive and David Fincher's Fight Club – two contrasting texts with diverse ideologies and technical codes yet both linked by ... • 13. Poem Analysis : Frost At Midnight By Samuel Taylor Coleridge The name of this is "Frost at Midnight". It was written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It's a traditional piece of poem. My overall first impression of "Frost at Midnight" Is that it's a love poem due to these words "Dear Babe". Once I saw "Dear Babe" I immediately thought that this poem is going to be about a woman that he's either in love with or his describing the woman of his dreams. He could also be describing the night that he met the woman of his dreams. The word "Dear Babe" is why I said that this poem is a traditional poem. This poem is not a sonnet. It has a total of four stanzas. The characters are the author himself, Samuel, his infant child and the stranger. The stranger is the snow I believe that he calls the snow a stranger because it's something that he does not know or interact with. The theme of this poem is that we should take our time to admire nature's greatness. Nature can teach us many wonderous goods as long we let it. He's also telling us that we cannot fight against nature be since he compares it to God. The "Frost at midnight" is in the first–person point of view. It's in the first person because the author is the telling the story and is using the word I. The rhyme scheme of this poem is A, B, C, D, E, F. "The frost performs its secret ministry, Unhelped by any wind" I can see that the snow is falling and covering everything around, but at the time and speed that the snow falls it makes you think that it does want you to see what it's in the moment that it's doing it. "The thin blue flame Lies on my low burnt fire and quiver not" The fire is about to die due to low fuel and stays perfectly still. "Thou, my babe! Shalt wander like a breeze by the lakes and sandy shore" I can picture the person walking very slowly as if they were a snail. The poem took place on a winter night in Samuel's house after everyone in the house had gone the sleep he went to his infant cradle. As the poem unfolded the setting shift to a school. The other places that this poem visited were a town, lake sandy shores. The Church bells symbolize the type of music that the old man used to listen to. The stranger symbolism the frost, the snow. Dear babe symbolizes the amount of love that he has for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The option to go with a meal plan service may prove to be a good way to get you into good habits. Try out a sample, free, or trial program and see what works best for you and your household. This, paired with some good paleo knowledge of what you should and shouldn't eat, will help give you the necessary skills to plan meals on your own in the future. 4.) Have Snacks Ready While it isn't a requirement of your paleo diet to snack, most of us start searching for a snack at some point or another during the day or late evening. Obviously, most of the go to snacks we have all come accustomed to grabbing from the pantry are off limits. But, that doesn't mean you have to give up your daily snack all together; you just need to switch it out for a healthier, paleo option. Try some of these simple switches: If you normally go for a sweet snack, try going with a naturally sweet fruit. While fruits are still high in sugar, they are natural sugars that are good in moderation. Eating a hand full of fruit is the simplest switch, but possibly boring to some. With a little effort there are other options, such as, homemade fruit leather, pure dark chocolate, homemade fruit popsicles, etc. For a savory snack substitute, some popular options are nuts, baked zucchini chips, homemade trail mix, hardboiled egg, homemade beef ... • 19. Movie Essays Shakespeare's Henry Plays – A Comparative Study of Falstaff on Film The Character of Sir John Falstaff is an integral part of any adaptation of Shakespeare's "Henry" plays. The treatment of this character effects the way the production will be taken by the audience as the treatment of Falstaff is directly related to the understanding of the character of Prince Hal (later Henry V). Kenneth Branagh's Henry V, the BBC versions of parts one and two of Henry IV, and Orson Welles' amalgamation Chimes at Midnight all show Falstaff in different lights, producing three different takes, not only on the character himself, but also on the interpretation of Prince Hal, and the entire workings of the production. In the case of Kenneth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an abbreviated sort of version of the rejection scene, Prince Hal (Branagh) shows his intense link to Falstaff by conveying his lines of rejection and banishment without spoken words, choosing instead to use his facial expressions (assisted by a voice over by Branagh) to illustrate his thoughts. Falstaff's reception of Hal's non–verbal meaning shows the fact that Hal and Falstaff are linked beyond friendship and family, while the words themselves show that despite this union Hal has no qualms about using Falstaff to achieve his ends. The humanization of Falstaff changes the way we look at the character of Henry V and the production as a whole, as with Falstaff so much more pure, Henry is seen as the Machiavel he must become in order to succeed his father. The BBC versions of Henry IV parts one and two show Jack Falstaff (played by Anthony Quayle) as a different sort of character altogether. In these productions the lecherous, unhealthy, and alcoholic qualities instilled in Falstaff are accentuated to a nearly morbid respect. While, unlike Branagh, the screenwriter leaves the lines intact, those lines that commonly evoke humor tend to evoke pity, or disgust instead. Quayle's appearance is not that of a robust jester who promotes joviality and wins the affection of the audience, but rather is a sickly, fat man who drunkenly forces his words out of the side of his mouth. • 21. Cult Film : Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive And David... The key concept to be explored is genre and my investigation will revolve around focused research on the expansive genre of cult film, as I look to not only elaborate on it, but also try to clarify it. Utilising the work of theorists Sconce, Fiske, Austin and many others, I will base my research around two contrasting texts that are both connected by cult film – Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive and David Fincher's Fight Club, analysing not only how their technical and visual codes help to give them cult status, but also how their audience appeal ties in with niche psychometrics and cult film overall. Since its beginnings in the 1950s with movies like Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Blob, cult film has never utilised one set of conventions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This case can also be reemphasised by theorists Fiske and Jancovitch too, as both have looked to create compelling connections between audience reception procedures and cult film also. What's more, many of these theorists have also come to contend theoretical responses about the conception of 'resurrection' in cult film – the ideology that one way for a film to achieve its cult status is through being 'revived' from its bumpy origins in production or commercial disappointments at the box–office through the lasting appreciation of niche audiences. This therefore means that the film will survive in an oppositional context to what Fiske declared as the 'more "normal" popular audiences' of that period. In addition, it is this ideology of 'resurrection' within cult film that David Fincher's Fight Club illustrates. "'Fight Club' sold 13 million DVDs. It paid for itself." proclaimed auteur David Fincher, whose text back in 1999 was financially unsuccessful, but soon gained cult status through its DVD releases and fandom events that were a commercial hit. Subjectively following the point of view of Brad Pitt's rebellious protagonist Tyler Durden and his coming of age society, Fight Club is a present–day touchstone for audiences to recognise the ... Top management believed it to be important to meet the analysts' EPS expectations; therefore, targets were set together with a 10% profit reserve at the corporate level. Senior management, which consisted of 40 of the 3,500 employees, had a yearly incentive plan for the division or corporation, covering 20–90% of their base salary. Berkshire was a public held company and shareholders were concerned about the existing plan. Shareowners and manager's interests were not aligned, as the EPS was rising but the share prices were not. Execution, which is by far the most factual way to prove that Sun Pokemon are indeed superior to Moon Pokemon, is placing them directly against each other in an actual fight without the aid of others and seeing who has the upper hand when facing off solo. The vengeful, and sickening Chillingworth from Hawthorne' Scarlet Letter, let revenge consume him, a character that shows this same character flaw, is Tom the cat, from Tom and Jerry. Tom is a very curious, and mischievous cat, whose only daily routine is to torment the innocent little mouse, Jerry. These two characters have three distinct resemblances, both spend most their lives seeking revenge on their fellow characters, both only end up hurting themselves as a result of this revenge, and both do not fulfil the desire to gain revenge, and end up with an unsatisfactory ending. These seemingly cynical characters are similar because they both crave the same thing in life, revenge. Chillingworth is consumed by the hope of psychologically torturing Dimmesdale. One example of this is when Chillingworth brings home some herbs, "I found them growing on a grave, which bore no tombstone, or other memorial of the Deadman, save these ugly weeds that have taken upon themselves to keep him in remembrance. They grew out of his heart, and typify, it may be, some hideous secret that was buried with him, and which he had done better to confess during his lifetime" (pg. 108). After this con, Dimmesdale became consumed with guilt to the point of punishing himself by starving, and whipping himself. B–MOVIES: FROM RAGS TO RICHES Hollywood today spends more money on movies than ever before, with an average budget of $140 million per movie. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'; the most expensive movie ever made; cost approximately $378.5 million and that was five years ago. This isn't surprising since history is witness to a rising trend in money spent on movies, however, even after adjusting for inflation, their impact on the industry isn't as large as their budgets. Over the years, lower cost productions like B–Movies have played a major role in carrying the industry forward by keeping it stable, moving and profitable in times of trouble. B–Movies came to be the need of the hour after The Great Depression and World War II. Money was tight everywhere and Hollywood could not continue making extravagant movies therefore they turned to low budget commercial films. These movies not only have an economical significance in Hollywood, they have made more than one contribution to the industry. These low risk movies provided directors, writers and producers with a wide scope for experimentation and led to the creation of many genres and sub–genres. The origins of B–Movies are humble but over the years that they grew in Hollywood, they became more significant and successful, yet their progress from "Rags to Riches" remains more a behind–the–scenes heroic act than a superhero effort. B–Movies originally came into being to serve the purpose of being the second class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Using The Heat Energy Equation INTRODUCTION (Pre–lab) What will be the amount of energy contained in specific snack foods? This question will be solved by using the heat energy equation, Q=mCΔT. "Q or q" will represent the heat in joules, this will be found algebraically by filling in the rest of the heat energy equation. "m" will represent the mass in grams, this will be found by finding the mass of the water. "C" will represent specific heat in Joules/grams °Celsius, the specific heat of water will always be 4.184 J/g°C. "ΔT" will represent the change in temperature, this will be found by subtracting the final temperature of the water by the original temperature of the water. Capital Q means that heat will be added–endothermic. Lowercase q means that heat will be lost–exothermic. The law conservation of energy says that energy will not be created nor destroyed, but will be converted from one form to another. The percent error equation will be (accepted–experimental) ÷ (accepted), accepted is the Cal/g on the snack food's package, and the experimental is the Cal/g that is calculated during the experiment. The independent variable will be the Marshmallow, CHEEZ–IT, Cheetos, and Chex–mix. The dependent variable will be the energy in either Joules/grams or Calories/gram because the amount of energy depends on the snack food. The controlled variable will be the amount of water in the calorimeter because the water will be the same amount in every trial. A bar graph will be needed to determine which snack food ... Arriving home from a long day at school, I could always expect my mother to soon make her way to the kitchen to begin her, as she called it, "second job." College life and all of its responsibilities, however, have flipped my expectations of my day–to–day eating experiences. Keeping a log of when and why I am eating has opened my eyes to the reality of food no longer being a priority in my life. I eat when I can afford the time as other obligations take my focus. Food has also mostly lost its human qualities. I now feel as if I am merely consuming to allow myself to continue functioning as opposed to enjoying food for its quality or savoring a social aspect. The first thing I immediately noticed from my food journal was the minimalistic nature of my diet. I begin the average weekday by consuming something unimaginative, such as oatmeal or a sandwich, before making my way to campus. After my classes, it is nearly three in the afternoon when I attempt to contemplate what I will next have. This midday meal usually consists, yet again, of something lackluster and repetitive. Many of these meals are a basic sandwich or include a baked potato. Beyond that meal is a guessing game as to when I will eat again. The company had forged strong relationships with the growers of the nuts and held pride in continuing the positive relationship throughout the future of the company. So as the growers began to hand down larger costs, Diamond needed to find a way to ensure that the growers got the full amount they were seeking in order to keep ties strong and avoid the growers leaving Diamond for one of its competitors, while also continue to meet the earnings per share (EPS) expectations. According to the case filed by the SEC in 2014, "In February 2010, Diamond CFO Neil instructed members of the Finance Team to adjust the walnut costs to hit an EPS target for the second quarter. "Members of the Finance Team provided Neil with a walnut cost estimate that would result in reported EPS that would be higher than the consensus analyst of estimated $0.47 per share for the quarter" (SEC, 2014). However, the growers were not satisfied with this method of determining prices and threatened to leave Diamond if full costs were not received. Neil determined a way to close the gap through "continuity" or "momentum" payments. This technique allowed Diamond to pay the full amount that the growers were giving, but separated the costs out.
