John Bowlby Attachment Theory Analysis
John Bowlby s attachment theory (1991) argued that infants are motivated to engage in an organized
behavioral system that ensures preferred others, usually the primary caregivers, remain close, provide
support and function as a secure base . Bowlby, along with other theorists (e.g. Ainsworth, 1969, 1985,
1989, 1991; Main et al., 1985; Sroufe and Waters, 1977), argues that the ways in which adult
individuals form intimate bonds with other individuals are influenced by the patterns of relationships
with primary caregivers established in childhood. In attachment theory, it is a fundamental tenet that
the security or lack of it, experiences in the child parent relationship forms a template for the patterns
of interpersonal relationships the child

The Consumer Rights Of The Magna Carta
1. In addition to the basic consumer rights expressed in the consumer s Magna Carta, what other
expectations do you think consumer stakeholders have of business? The basic consumer rights
expressed in the Magna Carta include the right to safety; they want products to be free of pesticides
and the drugs we purchase and foods we consume are safe as well as product safety. Secondly, there is
the right to be informed, which refers to the right to know about a product, and the use of a product,
and this deals with advertising and marketing. There is also the right to make choices, meaning the
competition makes sure there are other options available, and lastly, to be heard, meaning consumers
have the right to communicate with business concerning what they may want in a product, and any
complaints they may have about a product (Carroll, 2012, p. 392). In addition to these rights,
consumers demand fair value for money spent on a product; they also expect a product to meet
reasonable expectations, which means the product will as be safe, and thoroughly tested according to
regulation and if it is not safe, it should be taken off the market. In addition, consumers expect
complete disclosure of the descriptions and design of a product or service, and that there is truth in
advertisements (Carroll, 2012, p. 393).
2. What is your opinion of the consumerism movement? Is it alive and well or is it dead?
Provide evidence for your observations.
I feel consumerism is alive and well.

The Prayer At Valley Forge Analysis
As Gala has no favorite style, she also can t pick a favorite artist. Growing up, she said that her
favorite artist was Arnold Friburg, a well known artist whose work is realistic and reminiscent of the
Renaissance painters. Arguably his most famous painting is The Prayer at Valley Forge, depicting
George Washington, kneeling by his horse. Friburg lived near where Gala grew up and she saw him as
a local rockstar. Later, when Gala gained her own fame for The Ten Virgins, she sent Friburg an
invitation to hear her give a lecture about her art. To her surprise, he came. She shook the hand of her
childhood hero and he invited her to tour his personal artist studio, a huge, gargantuan barn full of 10
12 ft canvases. He had just finished painting a commissioned piece of Prince Charles, and it was still
in the studio for her to see.
As she got older, she only collected more and more favorite artists. She grew to admire Howard
Terpening, an artist famous for his slightly impressionistic oil paintings of Native Americans and for
his fantastic portrayal of sunlight. Gala says that his work is at once realistic and magical. She had
studied his work extensively, right down to the way he frames his paintings, when she happened to
meet him at an art show in Sedona, AZ. He was a very nice looking man, she says with a laugh, but
what can you do? He signed my book. Now he lives in Scottsdale and gets half a million to three
fourths a million dollars for one painting. He s one of

Lobster Research Paper
The objective of this project was to cook, and serve lobster utilizing a method, which was given, to
prepare the lobster as well as a recipe for the lobster. In addition to this we also needed to create rice
pilaf, asparagus, and a vinaigrette salad using the various ingredients provided to us. This project is
supposed to give us our first glimpse into implementing our newly found skills from Culinary class
into our cooking lifestyle at home. To begin, I par boiled my lobster on high for the allotted amount of
time before removing them from the heat, and then shocking them in ice cold water. Following this
step, I put them in the refrigerator in order for me to make them the following day. The next day I
began by removing the lobster meat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The comment cards were basically designed with a few question that I was curious about, as well as
an area for the recipients own comments on the meal. On my comment cards I include two questions
for my participants to answer using a rating system of 0 5, 0 being worst and 5 being the best. The first
question was, on a scale from 0 5, how would you rate the overall taste of this meal. To this question
my mother answered by bubbling in the number 4. In response to the same question my step father
responded by bubbling in the number 3. The second question I asked about the meal was, on a scale
from 0 5, how well do you believe the components of this meal were put together. To that question my
mother answered by bubbling in the number 4. My step father answered bubbling in the number 4. To
end my comment card, as I have previously stated, I included a portion for comments about the meal
from my participants. In this section my mother said that the meal in general was, quite delicious and
well put together. The presentation was delightful. My step father said that the meal was, Filling,
appetizing, and the meal itself was really delicious , and also stated he only gave me a 4 because he

The Influence Of Female Fashion In The 1920 s
As female fashion in the Western world has evolved since through the 20th century, an exciting feature
has been the evolving exposure of skin. While arms and legs have had their share of change in
exposure and acceptance from early traditional fashion to modern fashion, the exposure of the midriff
has experienced controversy from the early 1900s to now. Midriff exposure has a history worth
looking into in understanding its popularity and prevalence in fashion today.
To begin exploration of the topic, the origins of the trend must be determined. Most sources agree that
Madeleine Vionnet officially introduced midriff exposure into high fashion in 1932 with her haute
couture dresses, intentionally cut to reveal the waist. While it was common to see characters in films
baring their midriffs, it was only common to see real women exposing their midriffs at the beach with
two piece bathing suits at this time and into the 1940s. It was not common at all for women to bare
their midriffs in public spaces besides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, more girls are gaining positivity through daring to bare their midriffs or even their shoulders in
defiance of illogical school dress codes and that more people are feeling liberated by accepting and
loving their bodies. I see the resurgence of the exposed midriff not so much part of a sexual
revolution, but a part of a revolution of acceptance acceptance of gender equality, acceptance of the
beauty of all, and rejection of hate in all forms. Girls who were told to cover up for the sake of not
distracting boys in school or because they were told they were not pretty are now a part of a positive
movement in body love and appreciation. I believe this is a trend to stay, especially as it was the focus
of the Spring Summer 2015 Haute Couture Show by Chanel in Paris, being brought back into high
fashion as well as street

The Dangers Of The Foster Care System
Why was I chosen to be alive in a disastrous time where the foster care system has become more
hazardous than ever? The foster care system is dangerous and a risk no child should have to take
regardless of the shields and precautions the system has put up to protect children, I thought and
wondered to myself in the innocent silence of Kayne s snores. It is amazing how the vibrating sounds
much like a bull dozer on its last leg was the only thing that clarified I was safe. At times I d fault the
crappy foster care system; however, the system was set up to give minors a home with folks who were
certified caregivers. So, did they essentially intend any harm, I asked myself as I looked at my phone
that read 9:05 P.M. I was full of fear, a fault that I blame on the sick people of this world who enjoy
making the lives of kids thousands of degrees hotter than hell. A pain as sharp as a needle, though as
piercing as a sphere. My mind had begun to clutter like a prison, very ironic being that s what living
here felt like. I heard the sounds *Click Click, Click Clack* flying through the hall as I sat on my bed
in a room so full of expensive items and clothes that you would be convinced that I am loved. My
stomach growled being that I hadn t eaten all day and it was a Saturday. On Saturdays Kayne is off
work and even if he was nice when sober, I was still scared. Even the social workers would believe
that everything here was okay. A realization needs to be made that

Analyzing Herman Melville s Writing Style
Every writer has their own writing style; for example, Herman Melville s style can be explained using
complex diction, lengthy syntax, repeated ideas, description and characterization. First off, Melville
can use simple words like, cautiously, animation, and excited, (Melville 3 4) but he mainly uses
complex words such as, countenance, inarticulate, and convulsively (3 4). Furthermore, Melville
seems to be very fond of using long sentences such as,
Receiving the topmaul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the mainmast with the hammer uplifted in
one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: Whosoever of
ye raises me a white headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw; whosoever ... Show more

Do ye know the white whale then, Tash? (5). He most likely including shorter sentences because
usually when people are talking to one another, they aren t yelling full paragraphs for every thought.
To further evaluate Melville s writing, he also uses a lot of repeated words in order to get his point
across. For example, on page one he uses pacing, tread, stride, and rounds to describe the frantic
movements of Ahab, however it could also be taken as Ahab s thoughts running chaotically through
his mind. Later on, it goes to say that Ahab feels, feels, feels, as proof that Ahab thinks with his heart
and not his head. In addition, he also uses parallel structure to strengthen his writing style. For
example, he says Cut your seizings and draw the poles, ye harpooneers! (11). Another example of
parallel structure was, There s a most special, a most cunning, oh, a most malicious difference! (13),
he used parallel structure to create a more uniformed and strong writing style. Lastly, Melville uses
literary devices to make his writing style more interesting. One example of the literary devices he uses
is description. A descriptive sentence would

The Usefulness of YAH Maps
1 Discussions
It was also difficult to isolate the effect of YAH maps in way finding, since personal characteristic,
past experience of using YAH maps, educational background and familiarity with the building might
have influence the results. Therefore, the participant answered some question related to these factors.
There is opportunity to extend the current study by examining the questions outlined above, although
this is beyond the scope of this investigation.
1.1 Discussion experiment one: How useful are YAH maps in solving a spatial task?
Using YAH maps in solving the way finding task could improve the time performance of completing
and estimating the task. By looking at YAH map participates could get at least an idea where they
should go and which way they should follow. Moreover they could choose the shortest path based on
the map .The result of this study shows that the average time for completing task from source to
destination for Group A which could use YAH map are less than Group B (Table 4). However, the
difference is not too much. Additionally, YAH maps are useful for choosing the path and estimating
the time. Based on our results, participants in group A predict the time that they need for completing
the task more precisely compare to group B (Table5).
Choosing the path to destination based on YAH map could shows the usefulness of YAH maps. People
who choose the path based on YAH maps information spend less time compare to other. In this study,

States of America. Encryption and network SecurID Authentication tokens are its major products. In
mid March 2011, spear phishing attack exploited an Adobe Flash vulnerability that was not patched at
the time, and is considered as one of the worst attacks in 21st century. The RSA immediately reported
that information stolen is related to SecurID two factor authentication products. The company has
faced criticism of its approach and maintained secrecy by keeping attackers in the dark as much as
possible. Later, in a conference call with analysts, RSA revealed that small groups of RSA employees
were targeted through e mail phishing displaying the title Job Recruitment 2011 that landed in email

Who Stayed On Junas On The Em
Four days later they, without O Donnell, who stayed on Junas to work on the EM device, made their
way, with IQ and Screwdriver as guides, in a transport vessel towards the planet Kalos to inspect the
battle fleet. None was ready for the incredible sight as they approached the planets orbital plane. The
rate of the fleets construction was unbelievable. In four days, six finished battle groups, each
containing three thousand battle cruisers, already orbited the western side of the planet, with at least
thirty finished fighter squadrons, each containing five hundred fighters, orbiting its eastern side. IQ
slowed the transport ship down and guided it into the planet s atmosphere before turning towards the
Central Construction Headquarters. On the ground, the heavy rumble of industry vibrated the
atmosphere like a constant thunder as they walked from the transport vessel to a waiting runabout.

Organization Behavior Essay
Organization Behavior In order to better understand the concepts of organizational behavior, several
key terms need to be defined and explained. Some of these key terms include organizational behavior,
organizational culture, diversity, communication, organizational effectiveness and efficiency, and
organizational learning. To get a better understanding of each of these terms, examples will be given
for each term as it applies to National Gypsum Company. Organizational behavior is defined as the
study of individuals and groups in organizations. (Schermerhorn, 2005) Organizational behaviors are
the way in which employees or teams conduct themselves with in the organization. The organization
may set the tune with its mission, vision, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are put into place by the organization or started and passed along by the employees. National
Gypsum has put several of these elements in place to create the organizational culture. The
organization has shared values by following the vision and value statements put out by the
organization. The organization also uses symbols in the bundling tape that is put on the end of every
board. This tape is bright in color and has the company name and logo on it. The employees have
many stories to tell of adventures at National Gypsum, and those employees that were around in the
early 80 s, when the company went through several different owners have many stories and myths. A
ritual that is common at the plant level each month is the shift sits down to have lunch together and
safety is usually talked about at this lunch. Diversity is defined as a different kind; a variety. (Abate,
1998) When looking at the diverse world that we live in today many differences in every day people
are seen, such as race, religion, ethics, morals, age, background, life and work experience, politics,
financial, and education. At first glance it would seem that a diverse workforce may be harmful to the
organization because the diverse group would not be able to get along or understand each other due to
their differences. Having a diverse workforce is a plus for the organization because the differences in
the people will allow them to view and handle tasks and

Kantianism By Immanuel Kant
Kantianism
Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was a
deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than outcome. He
claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally best life is favoured
to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism.
Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that these
things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning of a
good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that no
matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it;
consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one must
always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is that only
a good will can be unqualifiedly good.
Hume reasons that all practical reasoning is hypothetical, since eventually it is determined by the
desires of the doer. He also says that moral reasoning can only be practical. Kant disagrees with this
and argues that if we think of the conclusions of practical reason as ... Show more content on

the superseding reasons to act according to what is morally mandatory of us. Kant argues that morality
is sovereign of one s desires, and thus moral imperatives must be categorical imperatives which apply
with complete necessity, and whose truth can be identified through reason alone. Kant attempts to
show how his categorical imperatives can be applied, albeit they are an abstract formula rather than a

Plastic Has Shaped The Modern Revolution
Plastic has shaped the way humans live, and has become something that humans can not live without.
From plastics use in packaging to war, plastic has impacted almost all parts of life. Modern plastics
are a result of people putting their discoveries together, and building upon each other s discoveries.
Plastic has shaped the modern revolution by allowing humans to have a cheap alternative to otherwise
much more expensive materials. Plastic allows people to produce products in very large masses, while
keeping the cost very low. The elements in plastic can be traced back to the supernovae of stars, but
plastic was only able to become create the adaptable and affordable material it is today through the
building upon of information over generations, in a process called collective learning, and because of
this, plastic has shaped the modern revolution and the way we live today.
An understanding of what plastic is made of, and where it came from is essential to fully understand
the impact of plastic in history. The word plastic originally meant pliable and easily shaped, but today
the word plastic refers a man made polymer which used in everyday life ( All History of Plastics |
Chemical Heritage Foundation ). Polymers long repeating chains of molecules. The shape of polymers
can give plastics the ability to mold into many different shapes. The reason for this is because the

Seven Pounds With Will Smith Movie
I watched the movie seven pounds with Will Smith starring as the main character. The movie presents
a phenomenal message and enables the audience to decide what is their purpose in life, and how it
could change if their life suddenly changed drastically. In the movie seven pounds Will Smith, the
character Ben Thomas was in a tragic accident, he caused while texting and driving that took seven
lives, one in particular so happen to be his wife. Furthermore Ben s perspective on life changed. Three
ethics portrayed in the movie kindness, justice, and compassion which Ben blessed upon seven people
he encountered to overcome his guilt. Although Ben ignored the laws of man, and risked getting into

The Anglo-Saxon Justice System
The criminal justice system changed over time from the centuries during the Anglo Saxon time period
to the centuries of the Middle Ages. Justice transformed from a savage way of punishment to more
organized and civilized. The Canterbury Tales and Beowulf reflect the change, and even the
continuity, of punishments due to legal justice of the Anglo Saxon and the Middle Ages.
Anglo Saxon Justice System
Justice System Overview
The way the Anglo Saxons handled legal justice in their time period could be described as primitive
and almost all disciplinary. The justice system in Anglo Saxon times was not highly developed and
was mostly focused on punishment for crime or issues of morality. (~Church and Law in the Early
Middle Ages~)

Overall, many aspects of the justice system in the Anglo Saxon time period seemed to be similar to
that of the Middle Ages. For example, the punishments were often handled directly, according to the
crime. However, the Anglo Saxons set a price to crime, using wergilds, where crimes in the Middle
Ages had specific punishments. The justice system has continued to be important to societies for
centuries to ensure order, and laws from the centuries of the Anglo Saxons to the Middle Ages have
either changed or remained the same, according to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Group Therapy
Reichenberg, 2014). This text speaks to the fact that other groups could be based on the idea of
racism, oppression or discrimination (Earlet, 2000). This means that the facilitator must be willing to
bracket (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014) his own values and be willing to understand the position of the
group members.
Moreover, due to the nature of the therapy being in a form of a group, the facilitator is required to
develop, alongside the members, group norms and boundaries (Schachter, n.d.). This is important as it
will serve as a way of maintaining order and respect within the group itself (Schachter, n.d.).
Furthermore, the facilitator is required to convey some level of care for the group as well as use this as
an opportunity to model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, should a group facilitator follow the order above, it is also essential to mention that the
stages do not necessarily persist for a long time and at times, facilitators cannot tell when they ve

8.1. Advantages of Group Therapy.
8.1.1. Diversity of Opinions.
Group therapy allows different individuals to come together and share their thoughts, feelings and
ideas (Occupy Theory, 2014). Through this interaction group members are able to eliminate negative
feelings and experience a sense of relief after sharing their experiences and opinions (Occupy Theory,
2014).
8.1.2. Establishing Comaraderie and Social Support.
Another advantage of group therapy is that it is empowering and encourages individuals to meet other
people and establish comradeship (Occupy Theory, 2014). In terms of social support, group therapy
allows an individual to have a well diversified and strong support structure from other group members
(occupy Theory, 2014). Depending on the number of times in which the group meets each member
will have built a strong social support at the end of each session. 8.1.3. Group

Folly Of Choice Research Paper
If there are no good choices how much responsibility for the outcome rests with the chooser? In 2005
many people evacuated themselves from the New Orleans area in anticipation of one of history s most
powerful storms, Hurricane Katrina. Others chose not to until a mandatory evacuation notice went out
one day before the storm hit. Despite this order to leave many residents remained in their homes.
Some of these people died. Others lost everything they had except their lives. The public blamed these
people for the folly of their choice. Michael Brown of FEMA was quoted as saying the high death toll
was attributable a lot to people who did not heed the advance warning. (Brown CNN.com 2005) Radio

The question is about who gets to decide. Decide to be stupid or thoughtful; shortsighted or mature. To
decide based on risks or how one is viewed by others. Choice is complex but ultimately we do make
the choices that affect the direction of our days. These decisions are not made in a vacuum. Research
shows that there are many influences that factor into the process. From too little information to too
much information or even the wrong information. Some factors are out of our control, such as
biological responses and others can be mitigated with education, insight, and awareness on our part.
We assume that having more choices is good, chafing at whatever might try to limit them. Yet too
many choices can inhibit our ability to make good choices. Choice overload causes us to delay
decisions, make poor decisions and be less satisfied with what we choose. Our upbringing and the
environmental context of our lives shape our understanding of the options available to us. Our moral
conscience, our sense of responsibility, giving consideration to consequences and the effects on others
guide what options are deemed acceptable. They also sometimes show that the only choices available
can have no good outcomes. Do we make our own choices? Yes, we do, but Once we take into account
the influences...the scope of our choices is much narrower than we have long assumed. (Greenfield

The Effect Of New Protein Synthesis At Prl Cortex
training. Mice infused with anisomycin (n= 12) immediately after conditioning showed impairment in
contextual fear memory compared with vehicle infused animals (saline, n=18) when tested 24 hours
after CFC training (DF=28, F=7.19, t test: p 0.05) (Figure 2A). Surprisingly, irrespective of the overall
decrease in freezing percentage, mice injected with anisomycin did not show any statistical difference
in the level of freezing within the first 2 minutes of the test (Figure 2B). By the third minute of testing,
ANI injected mice show a significant decrease in their level of freezing, showing statistical significant
differences until the end of the test (drug × memory minutes of test DF=28, F=13.16, t test p 0.01;
DF=28, F=7.66, t test p 0.01; DF=28, F=5.46, t test p 0.05) (Figure 2B). These results suggested that
new protein synthesis at PrL cortex is critical for the encoding of contextual fear memories.
To further understand new protein synthesis at PFC, we asked whether other subregions of PFC are
also critical for encoding of contextual fear memories. To address this question, we studied the role of
cingulate cortex 1 (CG1) region of PFC in encoding. We injected anisomycin to inhibit protein
synthesis at CG1. Four separate groups of animals received anisomycin and saline infusions into the
adjacent CG1 (Saline, n= 8; ANI, n=6; Figure 2 C and D). As in the case of Prl cortex, anisomicyn
was injected shortly after CFC training. Measurements of freezing at 24 hours

The Importance Of My Day At School
School started and I sat in the front with a group of people I didn t know. I looked around, seeing a lot
of students already talking to their friends. None of my friends were there. I looked down as the
teacher introduced herself. The class started and I just sat there exploring the room. I added all of my
things into my desk. Once the bell rang, I went to my next class. We had to stay together as a class in
the hallways, single file line as the teacher would say. The day went on the same way until lunchtime.
The first thing I did was walk around and find the other classrooms. I spotted my friends and ran

My father picked me up and asked, How was your day at school? . I told him it was good, as I was

I used to be. Always being a new kid at a school has its downfalls. Not everybody was like me, and
not everybody I talked to liked me either. My friends were the toys that I ve unwrapped so eagerly on

The Influence Of Pornography
Simon Lajeunusse, a Canadian scholar who was wishing to research the impact pornography has on
young men, was unsuccessful due to being unable to find a control group of males who have not
already viewed pornography (Weiss par. 1). Although the typical pornographic videos streamed via the
Internet are what most people today believe to be the defining form of pornography, it is also
displayed in many other mediums and has been for thousands of years. Most people see the word
pornography and immediately assume the worst, but they do not know the true definition or the
history of the 11 lettered word. From its early forms of paintings on ancient Roman walls, and risqué
novels during the Renaissance, to the creation of photography in the 1800s, and the booming of videos
on the Internet in the 1990s, pornography has been through it all. Pornography is one of the most
controversial topics of all time, and because of its vast meanings and forms, there are several differing
views. The saying, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, is very relevant when it comes to the topic of
pornography. One person s view of pornography could be another s view of beautiful art; This is when
the controversy takes place. Some people believe pornography is harmful to women because of the
degrading and violent acts toward them in most pornographic material; Others agree but believe there
are other forms of pornography, erotic material, which could benefit a viewer and a relationship. Some

How Did Architecture Influence The Development Of Roman...
Writing Assignment Unit 7
HIST 1421 Greek and Roman Civilization
By Robert Wright
The Development of Roman Architecture Ancient Roman concrete is one of the greatest achievements
to architecture since the creation and shaping of limestone by the Egyptians when building the great
pyramids. Roman concrete structures today still stand after withstanding natures slow but powerful
degrading capacity. If you visit the Roman Pantheon, you would see, after all this time, that the
building still stands prominently and in near perfection to this day. Concrete was a major catalyst to
the innovation of Roman architecture. This essay seeks to explore more of the effects of Roman

When Rome began adopting Greek architecture and art (The three orders of architecture, Doric, Ionic,
and Corinthian) they began to make hybrid works that would represent the glory of the Roman empire
while maintaining the sophistication of the Greeks architect s prowess (Kamm, Antony. 2017).
However, Roman concrete was most widely used to construct roads for troops and to help faster
economic trade, as well as, being used commonly in buildings and walls. At about 120 124 the
Romans architectural mastery was so great that they could build the circular Pantheon temple, a
testament to the majesty of the Roman empire, and a place where the Romans could pray to their gods.
The Pantheon dome was created in a way where the concrete for the coffered dome was poured in
molds and mounted on temporary scaffolding where the center, known as the oculus, would be open
for the public to see the light or night of day, and stand as a testament to the capabilities the Roman

Douglas Macarthur Accomplishments
Douglas MacArthur was an American general who commanded the Southwest Pacific in World War II
and was responsible for the successful Allied occupation of Japan and led United Nations forces in the
Korean War. Through great leadership and much controversy, MacArthur changed the course of
history for the U.S. and many other countries. He is considered one of the most important generals in
the history of the U.S. because his way of being influenced generations of generals to come. From
birth until death he was devoted to the U.S. army and lived a life devoted to helping our nation.
MacArthur was raised in a military household. His father being Captain MacArthur who fought in the
Civil War. His mother, just like his father, was extremely patriotic, making MacArthur salute to almost
anything at a young age. She would tell him things such as You must grow up to be a great man, .
Then she would give names such as your father, or Like Robert E. Lee. Even though MacArthur Sr.

this and sticking to it allows us to see the type of heart MacArthur had. He was never going to give up

Biological Effects Of Aspartame Consumption
Ever since the basic principles of chemistry became a part of human knowledge, scientists have been
fascinated with understanding the physical and chemical properties of novel compounds. The
prevalent use of artificial sweeteners, (a group of synthetically manufactured compounds with no
caloric value) as table sugar alternatives in many of today s commercially traded goods is an example
of applying chemistry to generate novelty. However, the biological effects associated with their
consumption remain shrouded in public misconceptions.1 As a result, the consumption of artificially
sweetened beverages (ASB) has become the emphasis for many obesity and neurological related
clinical studies. Does the consumption of aspartame have adverse effects ... Show more content on

For this study, acute administration of aspartame was defined as (75 mg kg 1). When aspartame is
metabolized in the body, it produces methanol, which is then readily taken up by the blood after a
period of 24 hours. As a result, this sudden increase of methanol in the blood plasma is believed to
induce oxidative stress resulting in damage to certain regions of the brain. In this study, the
administration of high concentrations of aspartame resulted in the formation of harmful metabolites
that are medically known to be associated with the induction of oxidative stress in specific regions of
the brain.
It has been said that at its very basic level, life is nothing but the extreme expression of complex
chemistry. As a result, understanding how specific compounds interact with biological systems
remains one of the most difficult and challenging facets of modern science. In essence, the effects of
aspartame on weight loss are contradictory at best;2,3 and often fail to recognize behavioral
components such as dietary compensation.4 Nevertheless, proactive measures should be taken to
educate the general public about the potential neurological hazards associated with the consumption of

MY Visit To A Jewish Synagogue
The Washington, D.C. Jewish community Center, which is part of the Judaism faith, is located at
DuPont Circle 1529, 16th Street, NW, Washington DC, 20036. On November 13, 2015, I visited the
Shabbat Shalom service, which is usually held on Friday evening at 6.00 P.M. Personally, I am a
Christian by religion, my active involvement in church activities started at the early age of 16 years

A calm and kind man at the front desk by the main entrance of the synagogue nodded and brightly said
Shabbat Shalom . I was hesitant and confused on how to answer, but I certainly continued my
salutation response in English and further explained the reason for my visit. After introducing myself
and indicating the reason of my visit, Warren Snaider, a friendly and very knowledgeable lay leader
and one of the synagogue ushers warmly welcomed everyone into the service immediately after
passing the main desk person. Mr. Snaider also repeated the same words Shabbat Shalom, each time
he did this, out of curiosity I inquired about the meaning of Shabbat Shalom, which he merely said; it
translates as happy or peaceful Shabbat. Mr. Snaider, as I preferred to call him that day, offered
everyone a prayer book called siddur to be used by all worshippers during the service. This book
contained most of the prayers that were used in service. A lay leader, Morris Paula, conducted the
proceeding and she was in charge of the service, while several leaders participated performing
different roles throughout the service. After everyone was accompanied to their seats, commencing the
service, Paula ordered the congregation to stand and sing a song from the hymnbook called Shalom
Aleichem (Peace Be upon You), which she said was to welcome and bless the Shabbat angels into the
service.

The Story Of Joseph As A History Lesson
The story of Joseph is one of my favorite in the Bible. Not because it has a happy ending, but because
it shows us some incredible attributes of God. As with most biblical study, it s important to not read
the story of Joseph as a history lesson, but rather to focus in on what God is doing, what is motivating
God, and how God responds to people. In this case, there are some profound theological concepts that
can be recognized from just looking a little deeper into the scriptures, past the narrative of what s
happening with Joseph. We get both a wonderful image of God s grace and of His beautiful design for
how things work together for those who love Him. Further, we see God as constantly at work, more
even in the grimy, messy times when it probably seems to Joseph that He is the furthest away. In many
ways, the underlying theme through the story of Joseph s life directly addresses one of my biggest
questions early in my walk in faith: If God is good, why does He let bad things happen?
The story of Joseph starts well before he was born, and the setting of things that would happen to him
later in life really began when his father Jacob met his mother. The Bible tells us that Jacob took to
Rachel, Joseph s mother, immediately. In Genesis 29:10 11 (ESV), it says Now as soon as Jacob saw
Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother s brother, Jacob
came near and rolled the stone from the well s mouth and watered the flock of Laban his

wearing beads, associated with a subculture involving a rejection of conventional values and the
taking of hallucinogenic drugs. The Hippie Movement began in the 1960 s with the height of the
movement being in 1967. This movement was a result of people feeling alienated from the middle
class society or rejecting it, as well as the critical historical events like the Vietnam War. The origins
had its start in San Francisco, California and slowly made its way across America. The term hippie
originally derived from the term hipster and was used nationally and internationally by mass media as

Public gathering, music festivals, and protests were all important to the movement. The Hippie
movement only comprised 10% of youth , but the fact that the culture was so strange allowed it to
gain a lot of media coverage. The biggest issues society had with the hippies were their public
protests, meetings and discussions that would flood the streets. The hippie scene on Haight Street in
San Francisco attracted photographers, reporters, and opportunists. The first large congregations of
Hippies that was noticed by media was the Summer of Love . The Summer of Love was a social
phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967, when as many as 100,000 people crowded San
Francisco s neighborhood Haight Ashbury. College and high school students found their way into
Haight Ashbury for spring break, but by the time summer came around local government officials
tried to stop the influx of young. These efforts brought even more attention to the scene, and articles in
local papers alerted the national media to the hippies growing numbers. Haight Ashbury residents even
gave the occurrence its name. The media s reportage included other cultural events in California, such
as the Fantasy Fair, Magic Mountain Music Festival and the Monterey Pop Festival, both of which
happened in June of 1967. The Woodstock music festival came two years after the Summer of Love
phenomenon but still brought in close to half a

In the abovementioned four articles, electricity policy in Ontario is the central theme across all of
them, however all with very different perspectives and focuses in addressing it. Key differentiation of
Making Choices from the other passages is that it provides a broad and inclusive look at Ontario
Energy needs to gather discussions around future energy development, whereas the others focus
specifically on the development of renewable energy policies. As a result, this review will mainly
focus on the latter three articles as they are more intrinsically related to one another, whilst the
evidence from Making Choices will be drew out where needed.
In examining the articles, one can notice the cascade relationship among them, starting off with a

people with this disorder are also exposed to various treatment plans as well. Although this illness
includes many medications, but the most effective one is antipsychotic medications A commonly used
drug that treats schizophrenia; which are tablets that control psychotic symptoms such as delusions,
hallucinations, or other symptoms that the patient feels when having this disorder. Using this drug
there are also side effects such as dry mouth, drowsiness, muscle stiffness, and tardive dyskinesia. If a
person has used antipsychotic medication for long periods of time, eventually they might increase
their risk of developing a movement disorder called tardive dyskinesia, briefly talked above which
cannot be cured and can result in the malfunction of moving their face and jaws. Note that this
medication reduces the symptoms of schizophrenia, not take away the cause for it. Along with the
brain, antipsychotic drugs reduce the syndrome of psychosis as well as reducing the symptoms of
bipolar disorder or a manic depression which are alternating periods of mood swings that lead to
depression. The way this medication works is it can either decrease or alter the effect of
neurotransmitters in the brain. Neurotransmitters helps transfer messages throughout the brain and

Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano
Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s The
Piano
Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation, civilised
vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New Zealand can
be examined.
Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New
Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this
analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the coast
in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density, but yet
provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the beach their
shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s surroundings act as
a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement.
The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather
than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in
situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also
immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film,
symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation.
Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also
criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and
structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull
Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her
costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further.
This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of the
realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing that
blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European

Informative Essay On Homelessness

one look I felt an overwhelming connection with these people I have never met, Sandness said. The

Mesopotamia took place in 3500 B.C. Iraq. Women were not equal because, they were punished more
harshly than men. Women were also sold to their husbands for marriage, and if they die and have
children with her husband, than only their sons will get the dowry. In the Code of Ur Nammu it says,

Non verbal communication is not universal and often misunderstood. While understanding another

Although language has always been the most important form of communicating, this paper will

  • 2. John Bowlby Attachment Theory Analysis John Bowlby s attachment theory (1991) argued that infants are motivated to engage in an organized behavioral system that ensures preferred others, usually the primary caregivers, remain close, provide support and function as a secure base . Bowlby, along with other theorists (e.g. Ainsworth, 1969, 1985, 1989, 1991; Main et al., 1985; Sroufe and Waters, 1977), argues that the ways in which adult individuals form intimate bonds with other individuals are influenced by the patterns of relationships with primary caregivers established in childhood. • 3. The Consumer Rights Of The Magna Carta 1. In addition to the basic consumer rights expressed in the consumer s Magna Carta, what other expectations do you think consumer stakeholders have of business? The basic consumer rights expressed in the Magna Carta include the right to safety; they want products to be free of pesticides and the drugs we purchase and foods we consume are safe as well as product safety. Secondly, there is the right to be informed, which refers to the right to know about a product, and the use of a product, and this deals with advertising and marketing. There is also the right to make choices, meaning the competition makes sure there are other options available, and lastly, to be heard, meaning consumers have the right to communicate with business concerning what they may want in a product, and any complaints they may have about a product (Carroll, 2012, p. 392). In addition to these rights, consumers demand fair value for money spent on a product; they also expect a product to meet reasonable expectations, which means the product will as be safe, and thoroughly tested according to regulation and if it is not safe, it should be taken off the market. In addition, consumers expect complete disclosure of the descriptions and design of a product or service, and that there is truth in advertisements (Carroll, 2012, p. 393). 2. What is your opinion of the consumerism movement? Is it alive and well or is it dead? Provide evidence for your observations. I feel consumerism is alive and well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Prayer At Valley Forge Analysis As Gala has no favorite style, she also can t pick a favorite artist. Growing up, she said that her favorite artist was Arnold Friburg, a well known artist whose work is realistic and reminiscent of the Renaissance painters. Arguably his most famous painting is The Prayer at Valley Forge, depicting George Washington, kneeling by his horse. Friburg lived near where Gala grew up and she saw him as a local rockstar. Later, when Gala gained her own fame for The Ten Virgins, she sent Friburg an invitation to hear her give a lecture about her art. To her surprise, he came. She shook the hand of her childhood hero and he invited her to tour his personal artist studio, a huge, gargantuan barn full of 10 12 ft canvases. He had just finished painting a commissioned piece of Prince Charles, and it was still in the studio for her to see. As she got older, she only collected more and more favorite artists. She grew to admire Howard Terpening, an artist famous for his slightly impressionistic oil paintings of Native Americans and for his fantastic portrayal of sunlight. Gala says that his work is at once realistic and magical. She had studied his work extensively, right down to the way he frames his paintings, when she happened to meet him at an art show in Sedona, AZ. He was a very nice looking man, she says with a laugh, but what can you do? He signed my book. Now he lives in Scottsdale and gets half a million to three fourths a million dollars for one painting. In addition to this we also needed to create rice pilaf, asparagus, and a vinaigrette salad using the various ingredients provided to us. This project is supposed to give us our first glimpse into implementing our newly found skills from Culinary class into our cooking lifestyle at home. To begin, I par boiled my lobster on high for the allotted amount of time before removing them from the heat, and then shocking them in ice cold water. While arms and legs have had their share of change in exposure and acceptance from early traditional fashion to modern fashion, the exposure of the midriff has experienced controversy from the early 1900s to now. Midriff exposure has a history worth looking into in understanding its popularity and prevalence in fashion today. To begin exploration of the topic, the origins of the trend must be determined. Most sources agree that Madeleine Vionnet officially introduced midriff exposure into high fashion in 1932 with her haute couture dresses, intentionally cut to reveal the waist. While it was common to see characters in films baring their midriffs, it was only common to see real women exposing their midriffs at the beach with two piece bathing suits at this time and into the 1940s. It was not common at all for women to bare their midriffs in public spaces besides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, more girls are gaining positivity through daring to bare their midriffs or even their shoulders in defiance of illogical school dress codes and that more people are feeling liberated by accepting and loving their bodies. I see the resurgence of the exposed midriff not so much part of a sexual revolution, but a part of a revolution of acceptance acceptance of gender equality, acceptance of the beauty of all, and rejection of hate in all forms. Girls who were told to cover up for the sake of not distracting boys in school or because they were told they were not pretty are now a part of a positive movement in body love and appreciation. I believe this is a trend to stay, especially as it was the focus of the Spring Summer 2015 Haute Couture Show by Chanel in Paris, being brought back into high fashion as well as street ... The foster care system is dangerous and a risk no child should have to take regardless of the shields and precautions the system has put up to protect children, I thought and wondered to myself in the innocent silence of Kayne s snores. It is amazing how the vibrating sounds much like a bull dozer on its last leg was the only thing that clarified I was safe. At times I d fault the crappy foster care system; however, the system was set up to give minors a home with folks who were certified caregivers. So, did they essentially intend any harm, I asked myself as I looked at my phone that read 9:05 P.M. I was full of fear, a fault that I blame on the sick people of this world who enjoy making the lives of kids thousands of degrees hotter than hell. A pain as sharp as a needle, though as piercing as a sphere. My mind had begun to clutter like a prison, very ironic being that s what living here felt like. I heard the sounds *Click Click, Click Clack* flying through the hall as I sat on my bed in a room so full of expensive items and clothes that you would be convinced that I am loved. My stomach growled being that I hadn t eaten all day and it was a Saturday. On Saturdays Kayne is off work and even if he was nice when sober, I was still scared. • 8. Analyzing Herman Melville s Writing Style Every writer has their own writing style; for example, Herman Melville s style can be explained using complex diction, lengthy syntax, repeated ideas, description and characterization. First off, Melville can use simple words like, cautiously, animation, and excited, (Melville 3 4) but he mainly uses complex words such as, countenance, inarticulate, and convulsively (3 4). Furthermore, Melville seems to be very fond of using long sentences such as, Receiving the topmaul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the mainmast with the hammer uplifted in one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: Whosoever of ye raises me a white headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw; whosoever ... To further evaluate Melville s writing, he also uses a lot of repeated words in order to get his point across. For example, on page one he uses pacing, tread, stride, and rounds to describe the frantic movements of Ahab, however it could also be taken as Ahab s thoughts running chaotically through his mind. Later on, it goes to say that Ahab feels, feels, feels, as proof that Ahab thinks with his heart and not his head. In addition, he also uses parallel structure to strengthen his writing style. For example, he says Cut your seizings and draw the poles, ye harpooneers! (11). Another example of parallel structure was, There s a most special, a most cunning, oh, a most malicious difference! (13), he used parallel structure to create a more uniformed and strong writing style. Lastly, Melville uses literary devices to make his writing style more interesting. One example of the literary devices he uses is description. A descriptive sentence would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A ritual that is common at the plant level each month is the shift sits down to have lunch together and safety is usually talked about at this lunch. Diversity is defined as a different kind; a variety. (Abate, 1998) When looking at the diverse world that we live in today many differences in every day people are seen, such as race, religion, ethics, morals, age, background, life and work experience, politics, financial, and education. • 13. Kantianism By Immanuel Kant Kantianism Immanuel Kant was interested in the meaning of a good life, mostly doing the right thing. He was a deontologist rather than a consequentialist, meaning that he emphasised intent rather than outcome. He claimed that the materially best life is not the morally best life and that a morally best life is favoured to a materially best life. Kant started his own philosophy known as Kantianism. Even though we consider power, wealth, honour, health, and so on to be good, Kant argues that these things are not unqualifiedly good as they can be abused. In order to comprehend the meaning of a good life, it is essential to look for the most basic standard of unqualified good. Kant says that no matter how hard one might try to guarantee the outcome of their actions, one may never know it; consequently outcome is not a good contender for unqualified good. He further claims that one must always be judged on intention rather than outcome or motivation. Therefore his argument is that only a good will can be unqualifiedly good. Hume reasons that all practical reasoning is hypothetical, since eventually it is determined by the desires of the doer. He also says that moral reasoning can only be practical. • 14. Plastic Has Shaped The Modern Revolution Plastic has shaped the way humans live, and has become something that humans can not live without. From plastics use in packaging to war, plastic has impacted almost all parts of life. Modern plastics are a result of people putting their discoveries together, and building upon each other s discoveries. Plastic has shaped the modern revolution by allowing humans to have a cheap alternative to otherwise much more expensive materials. Plastic allows people to produce products in very large masses, while keeping the cost very low. The elements in plastic can be traced back to the supernovae of stars, but plastic was only able to become create the adaptable and affordable material it is today through the building upon of information over generations, in a process called collective learning, and because of this, plastic has shaped the modern revolution and the way we live today. An understanding of what plastic is made of, and where it came from is essential to fully understand the impact of plastic in history. The word plastic originally meant pliable and easily shaped, but today the word plastic refers a man made polymer which used in everyday life ( All History of Plastics | Chemical Heritage Foundation ). This text speaks to the fact that other groups could be based on the idea of racism, oppression or discrimination (Earlet, 2000). This means that the facilitator must be willing to bracket (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014) his own values and be willing to understand the position of the group members. Moreover, due to the nature of the therapy being in a form of a group, the facilitator is required to develop, alongside the members, group norms and boundaries (Schachter, n.d.). Group therapy allows different individuals to come together and share their thoughts, feelings and ideas (Occupy Theory, 2014). Through this interaction group members are able to eliminate negative feelings and experience a sense of relief after sharing their experiences and opinions (Occupy Theory, 2014). 8.1.2. Another advantage of group therapy is that it is empowering and encourages individuals to meet other people and establish comradeship (Occupy Theory, 2014). • 19. Folly Of Choice Research Paper If there are no good choices how much responsibility for the outcome rests with the chooser? In 2005 many people evacuated themselves from the New Orleans area in anticipation of one of history s most powerful storms, Hurricane Katrina. Others chose not to until a mandatory evacuation notice went out one day before the storm hit. Despite this order to leave many residents remained in their homes. Some of these people died. Others lost everything they had except their lives. The public blamed these people for the folly of their choice. Michael Brown of FEMA was quoted as saying the high death toll was attributable a lot to people who did not heed the advance warning. Decide to be stupid or thoughtful; shortsighted or mature. To decide based on risks or how one is viewed by others. Choice is complex but ultimately we do make the choices that affect the direction of our days. These decisions are not made in a vacuum. Research shows that there are many influences that factor into the process. From too little information to too much information or even the wrong information. Some factors are out of our control, such as biological responses and others can be mitigated with education, insight, and awareness on our part. We assume that having more choices is good, chafing at whatever might try to limit them. Yet too many choices can inhibit our ability to make good choices. Choice overload causes us to delay decisions, make poor decisions and be less satisfied with what we choose. Our upbringing and the environmental context of our lives shape our understanding of the options available to us. Our moral conscience, our sense of responsibility, giving consideration to consequences and the effects on others guide what options are deemed acceptable. They also sometimes show that the only choices available can have no good outcomes. Do we make our own choices? Yes, we do, but Once we take into account the influences...the scope of our choices is much narrower than we have long assumed. (Greenfield ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Effect Of New Protein Synthesis At Prl Cortex training. Mice infused with anisomycin (n= 12) immediately after conditioning showed impairment in contextual fear memory compared with vehicle infused animals (saline, n=18) when tested 24 hours after CFC training (DF=28, F=7.19, t test: p 0.05) (Figure 2A). Surprisingly, irrespective of the overall decrease in freezing percentage, mice injected with anisomycin did not show any statistical difference in the level of freezing within the first 2 minutes of the test (Figure 2B). By the third minute of testing, ANI injected mice show a significant decrease in their level of freezing, showing statistical significant differences until the end of the test (drug × memory minutes of test DF=28, F=13.16, t test p 0.01; DF=28, F=7.66, t test p 0.01; DF=28, F=5.46, t test p 0.05) (Figure 2B). These results suggested that new protein synthesis at PrL cortex is critical for the encoding of contextual fear memories. To further understand new protein synthesis at PFC, we asked whether other subregions of PFC are also critical for encoding of contextual fear memories. To address this question, we studied the role of cingulate cortex 1 (CG1) region of PFC in encoding. We injected anisomycin to inhibit protein synthesis at CG1. Four separate groups of animals received anisomycin and saline infusions into the adjacent CG1 (Saline, n= 8; ANI, n=6; Figure 2 C and D). As in the case of Prl cortex, anisomicyn was injected shortly after CFC training. Measurements of freezing at 24 hours ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

None of my friends were there. I looked down as the teacher introduced herself. The class started and I just sat there exploring the room. I added all of my things into my desk. Once the bell rang, I went to my next class. We had to stay together as a class in the hallways, single file line as the teacher would say. The day went on the same way until lunchtime. The first thing I did was walk around and find the other classrooms. I spotted my friends and ran towards them. I gave them a big hug and I started talking to them. Once they called my classroom to get up for lunch I had to leave them. I went up and got lunch and then sat by myself. Two other people needed seats, so they moved to my side and sat with me. I kept quiet until it was time for recess. I went out with my friends and we chased eachother around. Soon we had to go back to our classrooms and finish our day. We said our goodbyes and finished the school day. My father picked me up and asked, How was your day at school? . I told him it was good, as I was able to see my friends. He then told me I should make new friends, and that I should be confident like I used to be. Always being a new kid at a school has its downfalls. The Influence Of Pornography Simon Lajeunusse, a Canadian scholar who was wishing to research the impact pornography has on young men, was unsuccessful due to being unable to find a control group of males who have not already viewed pornography (Weiss par. 1). Although the typical pornographic videos streamed via the Internet are what most people today believe to be the defining form of pornography, it is also displayed in many other mediums and has been for thousands of years. Most people see the word pornography and immediately assume the worst, but they do not know the true definition or the history of the 11 lettered word. From its early forms of paintings on ancient Roman walls, and risqué novels during the Renaissance, to the creation of photography in the 1800s, and the booming of videos on the Internet in the 1990s, pornography has been through it all. Pornography is one of the most controversial topics of all time, and because of its vast meanings and forms, there are several differing views. The saying, Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, is very relevant when it comes to the topic of pornography. One person s view of pornography could be another s view of beautiful art; This is when the controversy takes place. Some people believe pornography is harmful to women because of the degrading and violent acts toward them in most pornographic material; Others agree but believe there are other forms of pornography, erotic material, which could benefit a viewer and a relationship. • 29. The Story Of Joseph As A History Lesson The story of Joseph is one of my favorite in the Bible. Not because it has a happy ending, but because it shows us some incredible attributes of God. As with most biblical study, it s important to not read the story of Joseph as a history lesson, but rather to focus in on what God is doing, what is motivating God, and how God responds to people. In this case, there are some profound theological concepts that can be recognized from just looking a little deeper into the scriptures, past the narrative of what s happening with Joseph. We get both a wonderful image of God s grace and of His beautiful design for how things work together for those who love Him. Further, we see God as constantly at work, more even in the grimy, messy times when it probably seems to Joseph that He is the furthest away. In many ways, the underlying theme through the story of Joseph s life directly addresses one of my biggest questions early in my walk in faith: If God is good, why does He let bad things happen? The story of Joseph starts well before he was born, and the setting of things that would happen to him later in life really began when his father Jacob met his mother. The Bible tells us that Jacob took to Rachel, Joseph s mother, immediately. In Genesis 29:10 11 (ESV), it says Now as soon as Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother s brother, Jacob came near and rolled the stone from the well s mouth and watered the flock of Laban his ... Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s The Piano Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation, civilised vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New Zealand can be examined. Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the coast in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density, but yet provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the beach their shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s surroundings act as a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement. The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film, symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation. Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further. This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of the realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing that blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
