Multiculturalism Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of multiculturalism presents a unique set of challenges that
requires a delicate balance of cultural sensitivity, thorough research, and effective
communication. The complexity arises from the need to navigate the intricate web of diverse
cultural elements while avoiding stereotypes and generalizations.
One of the primary difficulties lies in the extensive research required to adequately grasp the
nuances of various cultures. This involves not only understanding their histories and traditions
but also delving into the socio-political dynamics that shape them. Multiculturalism encompasses
a broad spectrum, and attempting to cover it comprehensively demands a substantial investment
of time and effort.
Furthermore, maintaining objectivity can be challenging, as the writer must avoid projecting
personal biases or opinions onto the analysis. Striking a balance between acknowledging the
richness of different cultures and addressing potential conflicts or controversies is a delicate
task. This requires a keen awareness of one's own cultural lens and a commitment to presenting
an unbiased perspective.
Another hurdle is crafting a coherent narrative that weaves together the diverse aspects of
multiculturalism. The essay should flow seamlessly, connecting ideas and examples from various
cultures to create a cohesive argument. This requires not only strong writing skills but also a keen
understanding of the interplay between different cultural elements.
In conclusion, writing an essay on multiculturalism demands a nuanced approach, extensive
research, cultural sensitivity, and adept writing skills. Successfully navigating these challenges
can lead to a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the topic.

Chick Fil A Successful Company
Public relation employees have the duty to deal with potential issues or scandals
that have already occurred. Chick fil A is a successful company who got in a bit
of trouble when President Dan Cathy released a statement regarding the definition
of marriage. This statement angered many people and caused attention to the
media. There were protests, opinions, and much more that Chick fil A had to deal
with. They released the statement for all their publics to view. Chick fil A did not
do too much during this scandal other than stay true to their values and release
statements supporting the nuclear family and their Christian values. Chick fil A
lost customers, but at the end of the day their profits grew from previous years of
business. Chick fil A is fast food, chain restaurant unlike other fast food franchises.
Chick fil A has been a family owned, private held business since it opened in the
early 1960s ( Facts and History... ). Also, another unique part of Chick fil A is that
they are closed on Sundays so employees can have a day of rest or worship if they
choose to do so ( Closed on Sundays... ). It all started with a man named Truett
Cathy when he opened the Dwarf Grill in Hapeville, Georgia. Dwarf Grill was
Cathy s original restaurant and is still open today with the addition of Chick fil A
products on the menu ( Facts and History... ). Truett Cathy then created the fast food
franchise of Chick fil A. It began only in malls, and then grew to much more. The
Lethal Barrel Speech In English Speech
Because of my friend Rick Ravanello (who guest starred on the show once last
season but apparently met an untimely death), I first was made aware of the show
Lethal Weapon. Initially, I was enticed to view this show on his recommendation,
but from the moment I witnessed the opening scene of the pilot episode, I was
hooked. And the actress who portrays Riana Murtaugh is one of the enchanting
reasons for me to continue to support this entertaining, captivating, action packed
show. At the age of seventeen, Chandler Kinney is a seasoned professional with
incredible talent that has not gone unnoticed. After chatting with her recently, I
realized a couple of things. She is a undeniably gifted and willing to invest the time
and energy necessary to continue growing in her professional life. However, she is
also a positive spirit who intrinsically believes in the signficance of giving back to
the community. RH: It is so lovely to get to talk with you today, Chandler. My
family and I have been fans of Lethal Weapon from the beginning. We have
watched every episode and have absolutely loved it. CK: Awesome! It has been so
great to see your character get some more screen time this season. Yeah, I ve been
so excited to see that happen. Thank you guys for watching! We never watched the
old movie the show was based on, but people said I needed to watch this show, and
so I jumped in and watched it. And I m so glad I did. I cannot thank you enough for

The Growing Up Of A Refugee Camp
Moving to America was the biggest change in my life. Before, I know very little of
this world and my thoughts and opinion were very narrow. I did not have the best
education and I think little about my future since I lived in a refugee camp. I also
could not open myself up to people of different background because of the lack of
diversity while living in the camp. But moving to America I was introduced with a
new culture, education, and diversity that changes my life and my views.
Before I moved to America I lived in a Thailand refugee camp called Mae La.
Growing up in Mae La camp there was not a lot of diversity since most people who
live there were Karen people. All my neighbor were Karen, therefore I was not close
to people of different background or people with different ethnicity. I could not open
up to them easily since I only speak Karen language. I was more comfortable with the
Karen people too since I know mostly Karen people and my school was full of Karen
kids. I went to a mission school in Mae la and the school in Mae La refugee camp
was not well made like the one in US, it was made of bamboo and there was no floor.
Mae La also have a poor education system so many Karen student including myself
did not get a full advance education like the one in America. Since I was still a kid
when I lived in Mae La camp, I did not know about the struggle of living in refugee
camp.
One day I come home from school and my family told me that we were moving to
America. I could not
Recess In Elementary Schools
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. Albert
Einstein. Recess is a time where kids are able to take a break from academic
activities. Most students do not realize how important recess is; not only for their
social and physical skills, but also with mental abilities. Kids need daily exercise to
not only stay in shape but also improve many other abilities. I strongly believe that
recess in elementary schools should be lengthened because it increases brain
function, it improves memory, and has a positive effect for the human body. One
reason why recess should be longer in elementary schools is that, nature, increases
brain function. For example, a cell in your brain called the mitochondria cell, wakes
up after being active for around 20 minutes at a time. This then allows... Show more

coffee, the Huffington Post states. Any fresh air is beneficial to the brain. A study has
shown that some animals, such as the rat, have adapted larger, more complex brains
after socializing. Also, being outside can quicken brain reflexes. Studies have shown
that once students were outside on around a 20 minute walk in nature, their memory
improved. After the walk the students came back inside to join the participants who
hadn t gone outside. The students then all took the same quiz that would test their
brain reflexes. The test flashed certain objects on the screen that the students would
have to click, if it was a certain object. The students who were outside in nature
scored higher,
Many people believe that the worst part of remembrance is...
Many people believe that the worst part of remembrance is all the pain that comes
with it. But what actually causes all the suffering is loneliness. Memories,
thoughts and ideas all have to be shared in order to understand them better, or to let
go of them. In this essay I will be looking at 6 poems: Piano by D.H. Lawrence,
Poem at 39 by Alice Walker, Stop All The Clocks by Auden, War Photographer by
Carol Ann Duffy, Praise Song by Grace Nichols and finally Digging by Seamus
Heaney and how they present their memories.
In Poem at 39 Alice Walker mainly talks about memories she had with her father and
how her feelings towards him have altered throughout the years. The poem was

Auden wants to remember him; he is asking for complete silence by saying, stop all
the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking . Furthermore, does
the author want to stop the time, it could have been that he doesn t want to hear
anything about his friend s death or he doesn t want to accept that he is gone. In the
second stanza Auden talks about the importance of his loss and wants the entire
world to know about it, let the aeroplanes circle moaning overhead, scribbling on
the sky the message He Is Dead . Auden develops on the significance of his friend
in the last two stanzas by calling him his working week and Sunday rest, noon,
midnight, talk and song . This shows that he was as meaningful as Auden s daily
job and as relaxing as his day off, he was there at any time, day or night, he was part
of Auden s life and without him, life would be impossible.
Seamus Heaney s Digging explains the actions of his father and the effects of it on
him, similarly to what Walker has done. Both authors were raised on their parents
farm and therefore write about very similar concepts and in related styles. Heaney
watches his father, digging as he looks down his window . He can see all the
hardship and discomfort he is going through as he bends low, comes up twenty years

Due to the improvements, the media experience is fuller, smoother, and much more
realistic, while maintaining complete compatibility with Intel based PCs, existing
operating systems, and application software.
All three of the complete package systems evaluated in this essay received high
recommendation scores in a recent review from Family PC magazine. Even though
their review scores were nearly identical, their are differences in features among the
three manufacturers packages. These different features, as well as, the similar ones
will be listed on their own merits. Also, some commentary about each systems
service and reliability scores will be included in the explanation of each system in
this comparison.
The P55C 200 FPC from Gateway 2000 Inc. is a 200 MHz MMX PC system that
comes with an array of high quality peripherals, such as a plug and play Crystal Scan
monitor featuring Toshiba filtering technology and a new digital control wheel that
makes fine tuning your display as easy as tuning a radiodial, as well as, some fine

The Problem Of Teenagers And Teenagers
1.0 Introduction
Though marketing to teenagers has increased largely over the past years, it has
become more and more of a dilemma for businesses. Many businesses and
companies have been widely affected by the lack of interaction between them and
teenagers. The main population of teenagers use the internet, or any form of social
media, to buy products online. Not many teenagers prefer to go into a store
physically and buy the product off the shelf. This is an extreme problem for
businesses, for a few businesses do not advertise via the internet. However, there are
many factors to this specific problem that can be resolved.
2.0 Current issues that surround marketing to teenagers
2.1 Technology
Some businesses try to reach out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2 Cost
Cost can be a major issue when it comes to marketing to teenagers. This can be due
to the fact that that many products or businesses that are targeted at teenagers
generally tend to be expensive, especially the trendy items. This is an issue
because majority of teens these days do not have jobs or any source of income to
afford these types of items. In fact, this generation of teens are supposedly known
to be the laziest and unaware ( Why Generation Z Teens Are Being Stereotyped As
Lazy , 2017). Even though some teenagers do tend to have jobs and earn money
through allowances, this does not mean they are willing to spend hundreds of
dollars on expensive brands. Due to this crisis of expensive items targeted at teens,
teenagers themselves take it upon themselves to go for the cheaper option or knock
off brands. Thus providing less business for companies that sell their products at
expensive prices.
2.3 TV Advertisements
TV advertisements that are targeted or made for teenagers do not necessarily
approach teenagers in the right way. If anything, most television advertisements
made for teens tend to look more appropriate for young children. For example, some
toy advertisements that are made for teens like, Yu Gi Oh or some board games
made for teens, tend to feature more aspects that would reach out to young children.
Because of this, teenagers are not interested in these certain television advertisements.

Assignment On The Pigman
The Pigman Assignment
Provide a brief intro in which you identify the character whose life became brighter
once the Pigman entered it:
According to the text, John s life became brighter once the pigman entered it. This is
because in the beginning of the book, John is the kind of person who played pranks
on people, such as the Pigman, and drank alcohol or smoked all day. But as things
develop John discovers that Mr. Pignati is so incredibly nice and genuine and
trusting that John finds it hard to trick the Pigman without feeling guilty. Finally by
the end of the book, John finally gets a job, and for the time, in a long time, John is
unselfish again.
Establish that your character had a poor relationship with his or her parents (provide
text details!)
John finds in the Pigman something so much needed by him and so denied by his
own parents that he finds it hard not to change. This is because John does not get
along with his parents, especially his father, who he calls the Bore. One major
source of friction between John and his dad is John s dream of becoming an actor.
When John tries to tell his father that he doesn t want to wear a suit and carry an
attachГ© case, and repeatedly says, I want to be me, his dad ignores and
discourages his dreams, and says to him Thank God Kenneth isn t a lunatic (7).
(Kenneth, John s brother, works with his father at the Coffee Exchange, and his
parents consider him nothing short of perfectly.) Also, John s mother is, he tells us, a
Pros And Cons Of The Legal Drinking Age
Minimum Legal Drinking Age (MLDA) laws are defined as the legal age when an
individual can purchase and publicly consume alcoholic beverages. The MLDA in
the United States is currently 21 years and this has sparked quite a bit of controversy
about lowering or even raising the MLDA. However, prior to the law being passed
,the National Minimum Drinking Age Actof 1984, the legal age when alcohol could
be purchased varied from state to state.
Approximately 1 in 4 students report academic problems from drinking, including
skipping class, falling behind in class, doing bad on exams or papers, and receiving
poor grades overall. In 2008, public health researchers conducted a poll in over 100
college campuses to determine if university presidents approved of the current
Minimum Legal Drinking Age or MLDA law. They were appalled when majority of
them announced their opposition to the legal drinking age of 21 and wanted it
lowered to 18, Some felt that the law is counterproductive and drives students to
binge drinking. However, most evidence shows the exact opposite. Based on research
by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, more than 900 lives
are saved in a year because of fewer alcohol related accidents involving underage
drunk drivers. Unsurprisingly, the current law actually does deter underage people
from drinking until their 21st birthday. More important, many youth who choose to
drink do so less frequently, and with less intensity, than they would
The Social Interaction of a Men’s Soccer Team Essay
The Social Interaction of a Men s Soccer Team
In the field of Anthropology, there have been numerous studies on soccer and the
different social plays that the sport contains. Groundbreaking and controversial
writings such as Marcelo Mario Suarez Orozco s, A Study of Argentine Soccer: The
Dynamics of Its Fans and Their Folklore (1982) study the fans and symbolism that
surround the game. However, a key element that is often disregarded by
anthropologists is the players themselves. Dismissed as the realm of journalists, most
studies seem to shy away from the social interaction and symbolism that occurs
within the team, and instead focus on how the fans view the game and the games role
and symbolism within society as a whole. As a ... Show more content on

For this study, I went to informal, off season scrimmages twice a week for several
weeks to study the team s social interaction. However, I found that these smaller
scrimmages consisted of less social interaction than is seen during the season.
Therefore, I referred back to the social interaction I observed during my four year
stint as an Oxy player for many of my observations. However, my initial
observations done for my research did help immensely in finding what exactly to
look for. Also, my interviews and conversations with other team members proved
to give me a more complete sense of what the team thought. I used dialogic
interview methods, and rarely even sat down for a formal interview, relying
mainly on very informal conversations around campus. I felt these types of
interviews gave me honest and spontaneous answers, in contrast to more contrived
answers I felt I might get in a formal interview. In order to give a better, more
complete view of what I saw and heard during my studies, I have included both a
selected scene from one of the pick up games I attended, and a full report on a
formal interview I conducted.
Scene
It was an unseasonably warm Friday afternoon as I made my way up to the soccer
field. The sun was shining and for the first time in weeks I was comfortable outside
in shorts and a tee shirt. The soccer field is on the top of Occidental s upper campus,
the virtual opposite end of the college from the football stadium, training
Walmart Working Conditions
Working Conditions Matter!
What do, Walmart workers, nail salonists, and factory workers all have in common?
They all have to endure grueling working conditions. Even with low wages, health
hazards, and other unsafe conditions, these workers have one thing. To support
themselves and their family. Working conditions matter for the welfare of employees.
You must ve been surprised when I mentioned Walmart, one of the most notorious
union busting corporations in the United States. Walmart workers are going against
them for many reasons, some are unfair labor practices, poor working conditions, and
low pay. For example, The workers and their allies then marched 50 miles demanding

Fifty years ago almost all clothes sold in the U.S. were made here. Now almost
98% of the clothes sold here are made in other countries. For big retailers like
Walmart, and Forever 21 they are able to sell clothes at low prices due to clothes
being produced in other nation where labor and other costs are less expensive, as
stated in The Real Cost of Fashion. How this works? Well, an example from The
Real Cost of Fashion. Says, For example, it costs $3.72 to manufacture a denim
shirt in Bangladesh. To make that same shirt in the U.S. costs $13.22. Lower costs
mean U.S. stores can sell clothes for less and still make a profit. For U.S. shoppers,
it means more clothes in their closets and more money in their wallets to buy other
things. But three years ago, a tragedy occurred in a building in Bangladesh. 1,127
workers died while about 2,500 workers were injured when the building collapsed.
This building contained five factories which made clothes to sell in the U.S. and
Europe. Officials then discovered the owner of the building illegally added more
floors and let the companies place heavy gear that the building wasn t sturdy enough
to support. According to The Real Cost of Fashion, Bangladesh s government
temporarily closed about 20 factories for safety violations. It also announced plans
to raise the country s minimum wage. Bangladesh has some of the lowest paid
workers in the world. They get paid less than $2 day. It
Social Realism And The Works Of Literature
.
Chapter 1
Introduction
Literature has thousands threads which can weave the beautiful piece of art each
time thread has its own importance in the creative work. In the same way, there are
different narratives techniques for the narration in literature. Among those narrative
techniques, Realism in literature, is an approach that attempts to describe life without
Idealization or Romantic subjectivity. Social realism also known as Socio Realism, is
an artistic movement, expressed which mainly depicts working class activities.
Social realism in the plays are the representative of real life, with all its difficulties.
The stories and people portrayed are every day characters, usually from working
class background. Typically, plays within the social realist canon are gritty, urban
dramas about the struggle to survive the daily grind.
An art movement, that refers to the work of writers, painters, and filmmakers is
known as Social Realism. The artists draw attention to the everyday conditions of the
working classes and the poor, and are critical of the social structures that maintain
these poor conditions. While the movement s artistic styles vary from nation to
nation, it almost always uses a form of descriptive or critical realism.
Social Realism developed as a reaction
Negotiation for Lease Extension Essay
The basics of lease extension negotiation
Those who have held the title of freeholder for a will be understanding of the riggers
that comes with extending a lease. However, the processes involved can be daunting
to those new to the field and its complex nature can also be somewhat overwhelming.
The laws and procedures surrounding lease extension have never been more
complicated than they are right now, meaning that negotiating a new deal with your
leaseholder can be tougher than you expect. The following guide looks at the basics
you need to know when negotiating a lease extension.
Is the freeholder eligible?
The core question and the base of any perspective negotiation is whether or not the
freeholder qualifies for an extension. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You should also ask for a deposit (usually 10% of the lease cost) for security
reasons, which should be paid to you by the leaseholder within two weeks of their
request of extension.
How to negotiate a better price?
The negotiation period is the most crucial part of the lease extension process and
you are within your right to turn down or counter offer any price proposed to you.
You have up to two months after receiving offer to send back a counter offer in
order to try and get a price that is better suited to you. After a counter offer has been
sent it will signal the opening of the negotiations between a freeholder s party
(yourself and your solicitor) and a leaseholders party (he or she and their solicitor).
If both parties cannot come to a conclusion then a Valuation Tribunal will be
needed. The tribunal will consider all offers sent and will decide upon what they
consider to be a fair price. Other issues related to the lease can be raised during the
tribunal however this will delay the outcome.
Should you seek professional advice?
After a receiving a leaseholders request for extension a freeholder will need to
evaluate their own legal situation. This usually entails speaking with a number of
legal firms to see which of them is best served for your current situation. Procedures
and processes surrounding lease extensions can be complex, so it is important
Treaty Of Versailles Unfair
World War 1 ended when Germany officially surrendered on November 11, 1918.
All nations agreed to stop fighting but the war was not formally over. The peace
treaties of 1919 1923 focused mostly on officially ending World War 1. In this essay,
we will focus on the treaty of Versailles.
The peace treaties of 1919 1923 were unfair, especially the treaty of Versailles. This
happened because it angered the Germans. The following reasons why it angered
the Germans is that it felt unfair. They hated clause 231, which blamed them for full
responsibility of the war, even though the allies also caused the war. Austria
Hungary declared war on Serbia, and Serbia was allies with France and Russia.
Germany lost one tenth of their land, which was important
Beyond Petroleum ( Bp )
Beyond Petroleum (BP) formerly British Petroleum is a company that claims to be
devoted to finding new energy sources with little impact on the environment. Ferrell,
Fraderich, and Ferrell, explain in their Business Ethics textbook in 2012 that after
several environmental tragedies in the mid to late 2000 s, the company had to
reassess their ethical standards and make changes to repair their image and regain the
confidence of their stakeholders. During this time, they began investing in wind,
solar, biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created
programs to educate citizens and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most
importantly, though, they also tasked their ethicsand compliance team with creating
a code of conduct policy and communicate it out to every employee (p.343 345).
Considering that BP is a worldwide company, with employees of diverse languages
and cultures, this was a very difficult task to complete. Not only would it be a
challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each employee, but it
was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of
understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees
within the company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst
oil spill in U.S. History. This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon
spill. BP commonly outsources machinery and companies to complete certain tasks.
They did in this case by hiring an oil rig
Analysis of Third Person Narratives of Two Novels
Ask any author what the most important aspect of their work is (whether that be
fiction or not) and they will all probably say the same four things: plot, setting,
characters, and narration. This is also true for the three novels we have studied thus
far in class: Vathek, The Castle of Otranto, and The Mysteries of Udolpho. The dark
gloomth setting, the larger than life characters, and the supernaturally centered plot
lines all make these books Gothic novels, but how would one characterize the
narrators? If there is anything that these three novels we have studied thus far have in
common, it is that each of them have a third person narrator. Andrew Vachss, an
American crime fiction author, once said that The third person narrator,... Show more

3 ) Although, The Horse and His Boy is far from a Gothic novel, as it is actually a
children s novel, the similar introduction of the main characters strikes me as
something that must be common among authors who use the Arabian setting for their
works. This specific familial introduction of the particular character by the narrator
suggests the nobility of the character and emphasizes that this is a character that we
should know. While the opening descriptions of Vathek can be categorized as
somewhat subjective, especially to the stereotypes of Arabia, The Castle of Otranto
s opening lines are objective. Walpole introduces the characters of the story as
simply as possible. The narrator gives no bias to the characters, he just communicates
facts such as that Matilda was a beautiful virgin and Conrad was sickly:
Manfred, Prince of Otranto, had one son and one daughter; the latter, a most
beautiful virgin, aged eighteen, was called Matilda. Conrad, the son, was three years
younger, a homely youth, sickly, and of no promising disposition; yet he was the
darling of his father, who never showed any symptoms of affection to Matilda
(Walpole, 27).
Unlike Vathek which conveys a message of dangerous magic right from the start, the
narrator of The Castle of Otranto gives the reader a much
Declaration and Address Analysis Essay
Declaration and Address Analysis
The Declaration and Address intended audience was all who love our Lord Jesus
Christ. The intended audience ties in with the message of most of the document in
that it speaks of unity. A major part of the Stone Campbell Movement was to bring
unity and the Stone Campbell Movement was formed through unity. I think a couple
of the main reasons why unity is so important in the document was one, because God
calls us to unity through Him, and two, because the Stone Campbell Movement was
created through unity. If Stone and Campbell stayed separate in their thoughts,
beliefs, and motives the impact they were able to have would not have happened. The
importance of unity is far beyond describing. When ... Show more content on

Then there were other people who did not like change in the church. They thought
the only instrument should be a piano and the only songs that should be sung were
the hymns. And then there was a third group. This group liked a mix, they did not
see a problem with some new music and adding a few instruments, but they also
liked the traditional hymns, they did not feel like they had to get rid of one to have
the other. Their concern was more with trying to please all people; obviously not
everyone was going to like everything that occurred, but to compromise was there
thought and tactic. These different mindsets concerning the music caused a division
to occur in the church. This example ties in with another point addressed in the
Declaration and Address. And that is the point concerning what to do with doctrinal
differences that are not based on clear and exact teachings in the New Testament and
how that leads to division. There are a lot of things that come about in life that we
can clearly read in the Bible is right or is wrong. With that being said it is simple to
make definite rules and it is also simple to clear up arguments and disagreements
when the answer is clearly seen in the Bible, because it is really hard to argue with
a clear answer in the Bible when you are trying to use the Bible to back you up.
However, what happens when there is not a clear teaching in the Bible? That is what
happened with the
Satire In The Simpsons
When reading jokes, almost everyone wants a quick laughter without much
cogitating, however some types of humor such as satire requires the exact opposite
from the reader. Satire exposes the foolishness and corruption of individuals and
society by mocking them and possibly tries to improve humanity through its
criticism. In order to truly understand the comedy in satire, the reader needs to have
some basic knowledge about the topic. Satire is present in all types of literature and
even in movies or cartoons. The Simpsons, by Matt Groening is a long running

and cracks that the workers cover up with gum. He ridicules the carelessness of
powerful companies towards hazardous conditions for nature and workers. Mr. Burn
comments, They re trying to shut us down. They say we re contaminating the planet.
However, Groening s incongruity suggests that Mr. Burns does not want to his power

environment and pushes him to save his power plant. In fact, James M. Wallace in
his article A (Karl, not Groucho) Marxist in Springfield about satire in The Simpsons

seriously and the existing conditions are simply to be endured, not changed (Wallace

benefits him the most, which is to keep his nuclear power plant running. Ultimately,
Groening illustrates through satire how greed overtakes people and blinds them from

Solution Focused Brief Analysis
The miracle question, this is one of the most important question in Solution
Focused Brief Therapy. Suppose one night a miracle happened and your problem
was solved, how would you know? What would be the difference? The miracle
question in Tanya s session allowed her to focus not only on eliminating the
problem, but allows her to focus on the possibilities of her future on what is left of
it before she dies. I think what Insoo Kim Berg was doing here is setting up self
fulfilling prediction that Tonya s problems are already partially in the past. I found
that throughout the interview Insoo Kim Berg had a lot of exceptions questions.
Insoo Kim Berg asked many time how would your life be different? Each time
Tonya would have the same response if I was not abused my life would be different
she would not have the life style she had, would be able to gone to school and not run

I think it brings her peace of mind just knowing it was not her fault how her life
turned out and that she will be able to dye in peace. What I found to be very
impressing is how Insoo Kim Berg complemented Tonya for not giving up by
telling her she is a strong person and how does she do it. Repetition: I found that
throughout the interview that Insoo Kim Berg did reframe many of her questions.
By using different words, it helped encourage resolution to Tonya s problem
knowing she is dying and wanted to let her mother to be proud of her. What I
found it Tonya s remark on I just want to get rid of it I think she has come to terms
of her dying and wants her family to know she has forgiven them for the abuse. But

Figurative Language In The Pigman By Paul Zindel
Mark Twain once said, A man s character may be learned from the adjectives which
he habitually uses in conversation. Figurative language and descriptive adjectives can
help show what the character is feeling, acting, and explain what they look like. In
the book The Pigman by Paul Zindel he uses figurative languageand descriptive
adjectives to develop the characters, setting, and mood.
In The Pigman the author uses figurative language to develop the mood and
emphasize how the characters look and act. First, he uses a simile saying, Norton
has eyes like a mean mouse This can emphasize how he had a dead stare and cold
eyes. He is frustrated and anxious at the same time, and partially disturbed.
Secondly, he uses another simile when he says, She s got very interesting green eyes

First he writes, He s six feet tall already, with sort of longish brown hair and blue

late fifties and was pretty big, and he had a bit of a beer stomach. This is when they
first meet Mr. Pignati. As the reader sees this they can match his features to his
actions and better understand his character. Last, to better understand the teacher he
uses a quote saying, Anyway, Miss Reillen is a little on the fat side, but that doesn t
stop her from wearing these tight skirts which make her nylon stockings rub together
when she walks so she makes this scraaaaaaatchy sound. This quote emphasizes the
character. Without this in the story the reader wouldn t be able to visualize the

Insanity. In san i ty. Noun. The state of being seriously mentally ill; madness
(Dictionary.com). No one could deny that the Puppet Master is insane. With multiple
cases of premeditated murder and attempted murder, it would be difficult for the
Puppet Master to claim sanity. There are, however, multiple ways to look at the
Puppet Master s situation. The readers don t know the Puppet Master s past; he could
be genetically insane. Consequently, the Puppet Master could be genetically
predisposed to a mental illness that would, by no means excusing his actions, explain
why these actions were so drastic. On another hand, the Puppet Master could be

it takes a mighty push to get someone over that edge and into the abyss of insanity.
The Secretary of Defense Rutledge s injustice would certainly be enough to push the

To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction. In The Codebreaker,
Secretary of Defense Rutledge commanded the decimation of what he thought was a

Sexual Politics Around Teddy Girl Identity
Introduction
The Ted trend during the 1950s corresponds to a transitional time, when popular
culture was associated with the working class. This class related understanding of
taste and propriety surrounding the Teds, almost caused Teddy Girls to be written out
of history because attention focused on working class male aggression. Media
representation classified teds as a male movement, which provided no female role
models to perpetuate the trend. The Sexual politics around Teddy Girl identity relates
to how popular culture can be used and created by women, but also how academic
analysis approaches this and subsequently situates women in relation to popular
culture. Gender and class hierarchy can impose subject and object readings of ...

Photographic evidence (Russell 1955, Mayne 1956) depicts female Teddy Girls,
and Horn s research into post war youth culture shows similar strong female
presence: A mass observation diary from 1949 described a London dance hall [...]
where there was an equal split between male and female (2010: 118). Although
how widespread this was, is hard to say. The location and dates of the photos show
that the women were early to mid 1950s London East End Teds, but Russell s
photographs were uncovered in 2006, which demonstrates how lack of resources
caused disproportionate attention to Teddy Boys, further cementing the trend as
male. The academic neglect of women in subcultures has been addressed by Garber
and McRobbie (2000). The invisibility of women in popular culture could originate
from Hoggart s Uses of Literacy (1957), which situates interest in music and
socialising outside home as a male pastime. Teddy Girls also attract less commentary
because, unlike ted boys, the method of transmitting identity (clothing) did not differ
from middle class young women. The violence and aggression of Teddy Boys in
marking working class territory (Jefferson 2006: 68) attracted attention, because it
directly conflicted with middle class behaviour. So, females were unnoticed and
continued to use consumption of popular culture through clothing and music, to exert
cultural identity. Mungham s work focusses on the generational and class aspects
within popular culture and acknowledges
Cellular Reproduction Essay examples
Cellular Reproduction
Cellular Reproduction is the process by which all living things produce new
organisms similar or identical to themselves. This is essential in that if a species
were not able to reproduce, that species would quickly become extinct. Always,
reproduction consists of a basic pattern: the conversion by a parent organism of raw
materials into offspring or cells that will later develop into offspring.
(Encarta, 2) In almost all animal organisms, reproduction occurs during or after the
period of maximum growth. (Fichter, 16). But in

Spindle fibers are barely visible. This phase takes fifty to sixty percent of the time of
mitosis. (Biggs, 214) During metaphase, the short second phase of mitosis, the
sister chromatids line up along the equator of the cell. Each sister chromatid has its
own spindle fiber. Next comes the third phase of mitosis, Anaphase, in which the
centromeres break in half, causing each of the daughter chromatids to start to be
pulled to different poles of the cell by means of spindle fibers. The spindle fibers
pull the daughter chromatids until they reach the poles of the cell. Finally, the last
phase of mitosis called Telophase in which the daughter chromatids are fully pulled
toward the poles and the nuclear envelope begins to reappear, the cell also begins to
cleave, usually in the spot where the chromatids lined up in metaphase. After mitosis
is complete, cytokinesis occurs, cytokinesis is the process in which a cell s
cytoplasm is split into two equal parts, therefore causing the mother cell to split into
two daughter cells. In plants, however, cytokinesis is replaced by the placing of a
cell plate on the metaphase equator
Mitosis is a process that guarantees better cellular work.
The two new daughter cells will carry out the same functions and cellular processes as
the parent, ensuring that the two cells will carry out twice as much as the original
cell. Mitosis often occurs in multicellular animals and plants, not making the organism

The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia
In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere
above Texas as the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the
Kennedy Space Center. The shuttle itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of
the five space shuttles that was used amongst NASA. But on this particular day, it
wasn t like the rest because astronauts are supposed to return home safely; that s not
what happened on this day. There were seven astronauts that were inside the shuttle.
Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark,
William McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an
explosion within the shuttle itself.
NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through
many possibilities of what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion
that the reason the shuttle had exploded when coming through the atmosphere was
because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the craft. This was suspected to be the
reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before Columbia went into space.
NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want anyone else to know
of the issues besides them. The Department of Defense had asked permission from
the people working for NASA to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem.
But NASA had said no to their offer and went on to analyze and check the disaster
for themselves so that they knew what the problem was. They call this a common

Modern Warfare
Modern warfare ranges from small to large campaigns with military fundamentals
shaping the battlefield. However, none has a more significant value as the Napoleonic
eras. Although France is no longer a dominant power, its military fundamentals
influence the United States (U.S.) military.
The U.S. military employs three Napoleonic era fundamentals of Command and
Control (C2), professional military, and nationalism. These fundamentals shape the
U.S. military during peace and war. Maintaining peace and winning wars are
important. To do that, large capable militaries are required with C2 and Napoleon
recognized this. Napoleon task organized the Army into Armies, Corps, Divisions,
and Brigades, centralizing C2.

Although conflicts tailor training, training is the number one reason the U.S. Army
is successful. Training is not something we do. It is what we do! A professional
military is not successful as a nation of support. France experienced a revolution, one
that brought change from mass politics to mass warfare to Europe. Napoleon
recognized this and benefited from the transition from dynastic to national warfare.
The French revolution had realized the idea for the citizen Soldier, committed to the
cause of the people, for which he fought. Napoleon exploited nationalism on his own
troops, rallying them to success. National success depends on every citizen. As the
French Army mobilized, its citizens did, too. Young men will go to battle; married
men will forge arms and transport supplies; women will make tents, uniforms, and
serve in hospitals; children will pick rags; old men will have themselves carried to
public squares to inspire the courage of the warriors, and to preach hatred of kings
and the unity of the Republic. Nationalism brought change to the world, as
monarchies were overthrown and people governments formed. Although the U.S.
formed prior to the French Revolution, its Nationalism has been prevalent for over
200 years. National support defines U.S. military success, as it did for Napoleon.
When conflicts are imminent, the U.S. military mobilizes

and helped herself to the buffet featuring a fish that she, herself, had caught. And as
midnight approached the fairies began to dance in the light on the moon and sing in
I Hear America Singing Comparison
The two poems, I Hear America Singing by Walt Whitman, and Let America Be
America Again by Langston Hughes, can be cross analyzed to display several
similarities and differences. Although the styles of the poems differ; they both
contain similar literary devices such as imagery and metaphor. In addition, the
poems seem to communicate with each other when placed side by side. In other
words, Let America Be America Again, may be read as a response to I Hear
America Singing. The American Dream is explored in both poems and yet it is
only present in I Hear America Singing, while missing and longed for in Let
America Be America Again. The two poems differ from each other in their structure,
and yet they are alike in that they use the same literary devices such as metaphor and
imagery. In I Hear America Singing, the joyful and lively tone suggests... Show more

In other words, the speaker is celebratory over each American carrying out their
tasks and fulfilling their responsibilities; which allows for America to be established
as a strong and productive country. In contrast, Let America Be America Again, has a
bitter and angry tone which over time changes into hope. To explain, the speaker is
upset over the lack of freedom and opportunity in the country everyone dreamed
about, yet he is still hopeful that America can reach its potential. In addition, the
poem includes metaphors such as, let it be that great strong land of love (Hughes);
which evokes unity and equality. Similarly, in I Hear America Singing, the speaker
compares the people s work to music due to their strong work ethic. One may infer
that the singing of America means that the country

Go My Son by Chaim Shapiro Essay
Chaim Shapiro was born in Lomza, Poland. On September 1st, 1939, the Germans
invade Poland, quickly annihilating many of the people, including his younger
brother Nosson. Soon after the Soviet Union signs a treaty the Germans, giving over
Poland to them. Out of fear that he would lose his religion under atheist communist
rulership, his mother pleads with him to leave, saying the fateful words Go My Son.
He leaves war torn Polandfor Vilna, Lithuania, joining with the rest of the
Kamenetz Yeshiva. Because of the frequent casualties of war people were forced to
move from place to place for safety, because of which he eventually finds himself
alone on a train bound Moscow, deep within the Soviet Union. Upon arrival he is sent

Yet through skilled work and creativity he manages to avoid this problem, enabling
him to be able to survive World War Two without once desecrating Shabbos. At one
point during Chaim s stay in Karobka, he went to visit the nearby (metropolis) city
of Kuybishev. While there he noticed a woman selling books, including three of
which were written in Yiddish. He had not read anything in Yiddish since the
outbreak of the war, making him so desperate to buy the books even though he was
nearly at of money and had no food. Upon purchasing the books, he opened them to
the disappointment of discovering they were all about the greatness of
Communism! A little while later he is arrested, and is in fact saved upon the
officers discovering he was reading what they considered the most important books
on earth! This teaches an important lesson: sometimes what seems so bad, such as
here wasting his money on terrible books, can end up causing a salvation, as here it
is was saved him from imprisonment in Siberia. A little while after this, while
Chaim was still staying in Kazakhstan, he met a Jew who had promised him he
would organize a minyan for Yom Kippur, on the ground that Chaim would agree to
be the chazzan. This was astounding news, as they were living in communist Russia
during World War II, when talk of religion was unheard of, let alone finding ten men
to daven together on Yom Kippur! Chaim made his
Examples Of Fear In Night By Elie Wiesel
Many people fear things like darkness, especially at night, where fear spreads
relentlessly in the minds of society. In the book Night, the memoir of the author
Elie Wiezel and his experiences during the holocaust, he expresses his fear in
several unique yet frightening situations. From his hometown of Sighet to
Auschwitz, Elie struggles to survive while keeping close to his family. He may
have been a young boy, but he was smart and resourceful as well, which is how he
survived, even with scars not only on his frail body, but his mind and soul as well.
The book shows fear with the mysterious window knocker, after Elie finds Idek with
a young Polish girl and is warned that he will pay for snooping around, and when
Elie s father is getting beaten up.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To quote Elie s relative Batia, There s someone knocking on the blocked up
window, the one that faces outside! (Wiezel,12). An unknown person who wouldn t
even use the door is definitely a cause for suspicion and worry. Not only that, but
when they knocked, ...it was too late. There was no one outside (Wiezel,12).
Seeing as the person who knocked was too afraid to even stay, that made more fear
in the hearts of Elie s family, even if Elie would later learn that the knocker was
trying to warn his family. To conclude, having a mysterious person knocking on one
s door, or in this case, their window, and later disappearing before they open up, will
without a doubt create fear in the people who are getting knocked
Hiv And The Hiv Epidemic
The AIDS epidemic, from its beginning, has elicited a variety of responses from
individuals and governments alike. Because the disease was originally shrouded in
such mystery, many did not know how to react, which fostered a default fear of the
unknown response. This attitude lead to many governments adopting a denialist
policy, countless individuals living and eventually dying alone due to an
unwillingness to report their illness for fear of consequence or prejudice, and this
allowed the HIVvirus flourish. Several countries responded efficiently and effectively
to the presence of the HIV virus in their midst, while other countries maintained an
attitude of ignorance. The latter position contributed to a huge expanse of the HIV
epidemic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since this original effort, the Brazilian government has adopted several policies that
have greatly advanced the treatment of HIV positive citizens, reduced stigmatization,
and guaranteed funding and access to medication to all those in need. The Brazilian
Ministry of Health (MoH) established the Brazilian National AIDS Program (NAP) in
1986 with a focus on prevention, universal care and treatment, and the protection of
human rights. Civilian societies continue to be actively involved in advocating for
their individual rights as citizens and toward the advancement of Brazilian society as
a whole.
In the past seven years, mortality rates due to AIDS in Brazil have fallen by 50
percent. The Sistema Гљnico de Saude (SUS), established in 1990, is Brazil s
nationwide healthcare policy, which 80 percent of the citizens depend on for
healthcare. SUS provides completely free healthcare to all Brazilian citizens and
foreigners. Its four founding principles are: universal access, integral care, social
control, and public funding. The social control aspect of SUS allows citizens to
collaborate with members of all governmental levels: at local, state, and national
stages, and participate in Public Health Counsels. Over 120,000 people across Brazil
serve on these counsels, creating a much different environment toward HIV/AIDS in
Brazil than much of
Queen Elizabeth I Essay
You may know Queen Elizabeth I as the Virgin Queen, but she was far more than
that. Elizabeth I was born September seventh, 1533 to King Henry VIII and his new
wife Anne Boleyn. She grew up with a wealthy education, as well with the religion
of Protestantism. Henry VIII s anger towards Anne Boleyn caused Elizabeth to be
last in line to rein; but due to Edward VI s and Mary s early deaths, she became
queen by 1588. Elizabeth I contributed with the Elizabethan settlement and by
defeating the Spanish Armada during the Renaissance. The Elizabethan Settlement
was the start of free religion, by being either catholic or protestant. Encyclopedia of

Encyclopedia of the Renaissance says, One result was the Spanish Armada 1588
(Jones 261). Elizabeth tries to handle France and Spain diplomatically; by the mid
1580 s it was clear England could no longer avoid war with Spain. By July 1588
the Spanish Armada came to English water, but were quickly defeated by the
queen s ships. While returning to Spain, Spanish ships were father more destroyed
by a terrible storm. Spain was not yet finished with war and before they could
reach England, Elizabeth gave her famous speech; I know I have the body of a
weak and feeble woman but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and a kind of
England too. Although she gained much nationally affection from this speech it did
not stop the war with Spain from going on for another ten years. By the 1590 s
Ireland was brought into the war, but the Irish were defeated by England shortly by
1603. The most important supporter with Ireland was earl of Essex. Unfortunately
he walked in on Elizabeth without makeup nor wig, so she refused to protect him.
Later on he was executed after he tried to take control of the

Multiculturalism Essay.pdf

  • 1. Multiculturalism Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of multiculturalism presents a unique set of challenges that requires a delicate balance of cultural sensitivity, thorough research, and effective communication. The complexity arises from the need to navigate the intricate web of diverse cultural elements while avoiding stereotypes and generalizations. One of the primary difficulties lies in the extensive research required to adequately grasp the nuances of various cultures. This involves not only understanding their histories and traditions but also delving into the socio-political dynamics that shape them. Multiculturalism encompasses a broad spectrum, and attempting to cover it comprehensively demands a substantial investment of time and effort. Furthermore, maintaining objectivity can be challenging, as the writer must avoid projecting personal biases or opinions onto the analysis. Striking a balance between acknowledging the richness of different cultures and addressing potential conflicts or controversies is a delicate task. This requires a keen awareness of one's own cultural lens and a commitment to presenting an unbiased perspective. Another hurdle is crafting a coherent narrative that weaves together the diverse aspects of multiculturalism. The essay should flow seamlessly, connecting ideas and examples from various cultures to create a cohesive argument. This requires not only strong writing skills but also a keen understanding of the interplay between different cultural elements. In conclusion, writing an essay on multiculturalism demands a nuanced approach, extensive research, cultural sensitivity, and adept writing skills. Successfully navigating these challenges can lead to a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the topic. I did not have the best education and I think little about my future since I lived in a refugee camp. I also could not open myself up to people of different background because of the lack of diversity while living in the camp. But moving to America I was introduced with a new culture, education, and diversity that changes my life and my views. Before I moved to America I lived in a Thailand refugee camp called Mae La. Growing up in Mae La camp there was not a lot of diversity since most people who live there were Karen people. All my neighbor were Karen, therefore I was not close to people of different background or people with different ethnicity. I could not open up to them easily since I only speak Karen language. I was more comfortable with the Karen people too since I know mostly Karen people and my school was full of Karen kids. I went to a mission school in Mae la and the school in Mae La refugee camp was not well made like the one in US, it was made of bamboo and there was no floor. Recess is a time where kids are able to take a break from academic activities. Most students do not realize how important recess is; not only for their social and physical skills, but also with mental abilities. Kids need daily exercise to not only stay in shape but also improve many other abilities. I strongly believe that recess in elementary schools should be lengthened because it increases brain function, it improves memory, and has a positive effect for the human body. One reason why recess should be longer in elementary schools is that, nature, increases brain function. For example, a cell in your brain called the mitochondria cell, wakes up after being active for around 20 minutes at a time. This then allows... Furthermore, does the author want to stop the time, it could have been that he doesn t want to hear anything about his friend s death or he doesn t want to accept that he is gone. In the second stanza Auden talks about the importance of his loss and wants the entire world to know about it, let the aeroplanes circle moaning overhead, scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead . Auden develops on the significance of his friend in the last two stanzas by calling him his working week and Sunday rest, noon, midnight, talk and song . This shows that he was as meaningful as Auden s daily job and as relaxing as his day off, he was there at any time, day or night, he was part of Auden s life and without him, life would be impossible. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.2 Cost Cost can be a major issue when it comes to marketing to teenagers. This can be due to the fact that that many products or businesses that are targeted at teenagers generally tend to be expensive, especially the trendy items. This is an issue because majority of teens these days do not have jobs or any source of income to afford these types of items. In fact, this generation of teens are supposedly known to be the laziest and unaware ( Why Generation Z Teens Are Being Stereotyped As Lazy , 2017). Even though some teenagers do tend to have jobs and earn money through allowances, this does not mean they are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive brands. The MLDA in the United States is currently 21 years and this has sparked quite a bit of controversy about lowering or even raising the MLDA. However, prior to the law being passed ,the National Minimum Drinking Age Actof 1984, the legal age when alcohol could be purchased varied from state to state. Approximately 1 in 4 students report academic problems from drinking, including skipping class, falling behind in class, doing bad on exams or papers, and receiving poor grades overall. In 2008, public health researchers conducted a poll in over 100 college campuses to determine if university presidents approved of the current Minimum Legal Drinking Age or MLDA law. They were appalled when majority of them announced their opposition to the legal drinking age of 21 and wanted it lowered to 18, Some felt that the law is counterproductive and drives students to binge drinking. However, most evidence shows the exact opposite. Based on research by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, more than 900 lives are saved in a year because of fewer alcohol related accidents involving underage drunk drivers. Unsurprisingly, the current law actually does deter underage people from drinking until their 21st birthday. More important, many youth who choose to drink do so less frequently, and with less intensity, than they would

Figurative language and descriptive adjectives can help show what the character is feeling, acting, and explain what they look like. In the book The Pigman by Paul Zindel he uses figurative languageand descriptive adjectives to develop the characters, setting, and mood. In The Pigman the author uses figurative language to develop the mood and emphasize how the characters look and act. First, he uses a simile saying, Norton has eyes like a mean mouse This can emphasize how he had a dead stare and cold eyes. He is frustrated and anxious at the same time, and partially disturbed. Media representation classified teds as a male movement, which provided no female role models to perpetuate the trend. Although how widespread this was, is hard to say. The location and dates of the photos show that the women were early to mid 1950s London East End Teds, but Russell s photographs were uncovered in 2006, which demonstrates how lack of resources caused disproportionate attention to Teddy Boys, further cementing the trend as male. The academic neglect of women in subcultures has been addressed by Garber and McRobbie (2000). The invisibility of women in popular culture could originate from Hoggart s Uses of Literacy (1957), which situates interest in music and socialising outside home as a male pastime. Teddy Girls also attract less commentary because, unlike ted boys, the method of transmitting identity (clothing) did not differ from middle class young women. The violence and aggression of Teddy Boys in marking working class territory (Jefferson 2006: 68) attracted attention, because it directly conflicted with middle class behaviour. So, females were unnoticed and continued to use consumption of popular culture through clothing and music, to exert cultural identity. Mungham s work focusses on the generational and class aspects within popular culture and acknowledges

This is essential in that if a species were not able to reproduce, that species would quickly become extinct. (Biggs, 214) During metaphase, the short second phase of mitosis, the sister chromatids line up along the equator of the cell. Each sister chromatid has its own spindle fiber. Next comes the third phase of mitosis, Anaphase, in which the centromeres break in half, causing each of the daughter chromatids to start to be pulled to different poles of the cell by means of spindle fibers. The spindle fibers pull the daughter chromatids until they reach the poles of the cell. Finally, the last phase of mitosis called Telophase in which the daughter chromatids are fully pulled toward the poles and the nuclear envelope begins to reappear, the cell also begins to cleave, usually in the spot where the chromatids lined up in metaphase. After mitosis is complete, cytokinesis occurs, cytokinesis is the process in which a cell s cytoplasm is split into two equal parts, therefore causing the mother cell to split into two daughter cells. In plants, however, cytokinesis is replaced by the placing of a cell plate on the metaphase equator Mitosis is a process that guarantees better cellular work. At one point during Chaim s stay in Karobka, he went to visit the nearby (metropolis) city of Kuybishev. While there he noticed a woman selling books, including three of which were written in Yiddish. He had not read anything in Yiddish since the outbreak of the war, making him so desperate to buy the books even though he was nearly at of money and had no food. Upon purchasing the books, he opened them to the disappointment of discovering they were all about the greatness of Communism! • 44. Examples Of Fear In Night By Elie Wiesel Many people fear things like darkness, especially at night, where fear spreads relentlessly in the minds of society. In the book Night, the memoir of the author Elie Wiezel and his experiences during the holocaust, he expresses his fear in several unique yet frightening situations. From his hometown of Sighet to Auschwitz, Elie struggles to survive while keeping close to his family. He may have been a young boy, but he was smart and resourceful as well, which is how he survived, even with scars not only on his frail body, but his mind and soul as well. The book shows fear with the mysterious window knocker, after Elie finds Idek with a young Polish girl and is warned that he will pay for snooping around, and when Elie s father is getting beaten up.... An unknown person who wouldn t even use the door is definitely a cause for suspicion and worry. Not only that, but when they knocked, ...it was too late. There was no one outside (Wiezel,12). Seeing as the person who knocked was too afraid to even stay, that made more fear in the hearts of Elie s family, even if Elie would later learn that the knocker was trying to warn his family. To conclude, having a mysterious person knocking on one s door, or in this case, their window, and later disappearing before they open up, will without a doubt create fear in the people who are getting knocked
  • 45. Hiv And The Hiv Epidemic The AIDS epidemic, from its beginning, has elicited a variety of responses from individuals and governments alike. Because the disease was originally shrouded in such mystery, many did not know how to react, which fostered a default fear of the unknown response. This attitude lead to many governments adopting a denialist policy, countless individuals living and eventually dying alone due to an unwillingness to report their illness for fear of consequence or prejudice, and this allowed the HIVvirus flourish. Several countries responded efficiently and effectively to the presence of the HIV virus in their midst, while other countries maintained an attitude of ignorance. The latter position contributed to a huge expanse of the HIV epidemic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since this original effort, the Brazilian government has adopted several policies that have greatly advanced the treatment of HIV positive citizens, reduced stigmatization, and guaranteed funding and access to medication to all those in need. The Brazilian Ministry of Health (MoH) established the Brazilian National AIDS Program (NAP) in 1986 with a focus on prevention, universal care and treatment, and the protection of human rights. Civilian societies continue to be actively involved in advocating for their individual rights as citizens and toward the advancement of Brazilian society as a whole. In the past seven years, mortality rates due to AIDS in Brazil have fallen by 50 percent. The Sistema Гљnico de Saude (SUS), established in 1990, is Brazil s nationwide healthcare policy, which 80 percent of the citizens depend on for healthcare. SUS provides completely free healthcare to all Brazilian citizens and foreigners. Its four founding principles are: universal access, integral care, social control, and public funding. The social control aspect of SUS allows citizens to collaborate with members of all governmental levels: at local, state, and national stages, and participate in Public Health Counsels. Over 120,000 people across Brazil serve on these counsels, creating a much different environment toward HIV/AIDS in Brazil than much of
