Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through
Hollywood movies, less than one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings
or queens or other monarchies. For example, as a child I lived in a home sans
modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were built during the
depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the
front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole
plumbing indoors was the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies,
we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu of a bathroom basin. For winter months,
we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent freezing so we would
have water during the cold seasons.
Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for
modern plumbing. In light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on
the water cycle are at most minimal. In our home we are careful not to waste water.
For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces about one third of the

All novels can be categorized into genres based on their plots and characters. This
allows for readers to easily identify a variety of books that they may enjoy due to
shared writing styles and story lines. For example, works of historical fiction take
place in the past and are based on historical events and attitudes of the time. The novel
The Help by Kathryn Stockett is a wonderful example of this genre. It is about a
white socialite, Skeeter, who works in secret with the coloured help of Jackson,
Mississippi to write a book about work and life from the help s perspective.
Romance works however focus on the relationship between two characters and the
journey they go through together. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell is an
excellent example of this genre. It is about two teenagers who are forced to sit
together on the school bus. They both have complicated social and home lives but
find comfort in each other which quickly leads to a romantic connection. By reading
multiple genres, one can see the distinct differences that make them unique while also
drawing parallels particularly within the author s writing style. The genres historical
fictionand romance both appeal to the reader s emotions however the stylistic choices
create very different final products. Historical fiction and romance genres both focus
on characters that are easily identifiable although they vary greatly in terms of plot

Kate Chopin s novel, the Awakening, explores many feminist ideologies. The
protagonist, Edna Pontellier, experiences a gradual yet full fledged awakening.
There are many events throughout the story that portray this progression of self
awareness; most of these events revolve around Edna s relationship with water,
especially of her stay at Grand Isle. Chopin captures Edna s relationship with water
through its symbolism of both rebirth and death and the repeated string of gerunds at
the beginning and end of the novel. The setting of the resort at Grand Isle and the
coastal city of New Orleans emphasizes the importance of water to Edna s desire for
freedom. Chopin alludes to the chaotic and exceedingly disturbing nature of the

software in terms of number of copies. In other words, it requires a separate license
for each Microsoft Windows that is installed on each computer. The company

As a result, there are overwhelming criticisms against Microsoft. People view
Microsoft as an unethical business entity by creating monopoly and using unfair

that even Microsoft does not technically fit the definition of monopoly, there is no
doubt that it processes tremendous power in the software industry. Along with this
magical power, it could make influential decisions among governments rules and
