This document summarizes the use of definite and indefinite determiners in French. Definite determiners ("the") are le, la, l', and les which are used before singular male nouns, singular female nouns, nouns starting with vowels/h, and plural nouns respectively. Indefinite determiners ("a"/"an"/"some") are un, une, and des which are used before singular male nouns, singular female nouns, and plural nouns respectively. Examples are provided to illustrate the use of each determiner with different nouns.
