ABSTRACT :
A material with both strength and ductility is the need of the hour, and more so in the construction industry. Since reinforced concrete sections are relatively less ductile in compression and shear, flexural yielding is an attractive proposition, ensuing ductile behaviour of the structural elements and their connections. The much-celebrated union of the quasi-brittle cement matrix and ductile steel reinforcement is plagued by stiffness degradation, which subsequently hampers the structures ability to adapt to load reversals, unexpected overloading post-construction, settlement effects etc. In addition, the deformation incompatibility between the matrix and the reinforcement leads to non-uniform strain distribution in reinforcement and composite matrix, high interfacial bond stress, disintegration at loads lower than the expected capacity of the composite section, ultimately affecting serviceability of the structure.
The flexural performance of cement composites reinforced with Carbon black (CB) and Carbon fibres (CF) was investigated according to ASTM D790-2003 and IS 516-1999.The variation in flexural behaviour like flexural strength, flexural modulus, toughness index, ductility index and displacement at failure was different according to the proportion of CB used. Though the use of CB only, did not show promising results mainly owing to stiffening of the composite, the trends observed when CB was hybridized with CF were encouraging, primarily leading to a 44 % increase in toughness and 32% increase in the ductility index over the plain cement sample for an optimum loading of 5% CB and 0.25% CF by wt of cement. Although the mechanical strength of pure CB composites is reduced, but they satisfy the basic requirements of lightweight construction materials.

Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

- 1. Detailed analysis 1 (Moon) By Carl Long
- 2. Mise-en-scene • Costume – spacesuits creating verisimilitude in the fact that they are on the moon, makeup of injuries. • Setting – a moonlike setting, sometimes they are next to the completely pitch black half of the moon, developing a sense of fear from the audience. • Lighting – low key lighting, creates tension and adds a bit of mystery to the scene.
- 3. Camerawork • Handheld camera creating tension, and the effect that the character is being watched and that there could be an ambush. • Zooming in and out emphasizing fear and showing the expressions in the face of the actors and also that they are alone out on the moon and vulnerable. • Birds eye view shot setting the scene and emphasizing the idea of the men being alone on the moon, with a possibility of someone hiding in the shadows.
- 4. Sound • Dramatic music in order to show that the men are feeling fear and also to build up a bit of tension. The way that they did this was by starting off with very slow paced non- diegetic sound which gradually speeds up creating the idea that something is about to happen. • Dialogue showing that the men on the set are scared and also that he just want to leave the place as he is worried by what is going to happen. The reason that this builds fear and tension as the fear and anxiety being shown by the actor is transferred to the audience.
- 5. Editing • Fast paced editing is used to build up tension and the idea something is going to happen. The way that this is done is by quickly moving between slides at a fast pace. • Cross cutting is also used to show the comparison of the two identical men, one of which is dead in order to create fear from shock and also building up tension as the audience will want to know why there is a dead man looking identical to the protagonist, making the audience expect something horrible to happen to the man.
