High-Level Context Inference for Human Behavior IdenticationOresti Banos
This work presents the Mining Minds Context Ontology, an
ontology for the identification of human behavior. This ontology comprehensively models high-level context based on low-level information, including the user activities, locations, and emotions. The Mining Minds Context Ontology is the means to infer high-level context from the low-level information. High-level contexts can be inferred from unclassified contexts by reasoning on the Mining Minds Context Ontology. The Mining Minds Context Ontology is shown to be flexible enough to operate in real life scenarios in which emotion recognition systems may not always be available. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the activity and the location might not be enough to detect some of the high-level contexts, and that the emotion enables a more accurate high-level context identification. This work paves the path for the future implementation of the high-level context recognition system in the Mining Minds project.

Companies that understand how to apply AI will scale and win their respective markets over the next decade. That said, delivering on this promise and managing machine learning projects is much harder than most people anticpate. Many organizations hire teams of PhDs and data scientists, then fail to ship products that move business metrics. The root cause is often a lack of product strategy for AI, or the failure to adapt their product development processes to the needs of machine learning systems. This talk will cover some of the common ways machine learning fails in practice, the tactical responsibilities of AI product managers, and how to approach product strategy for AI.
Peter Skomoroch, former Head of Data Products at Workday and LinkedIn, will describe how you can navigate these challenges to ship metric moving AI products that matter to your business.
Peter will provide practical advice on:
* The role of an AI Product Manager
* How to evaluate and prioritize your AI projects
* The ways AI product management differs from traditional product management
* Bridging the worlds of design and machine learning
* Making trade offs between data quality and other business metrics

Adaptive Learning Experiences across Devices: Leveraging Multi-Modal Learnin...Christian Glahn
The educational technological landscape is changing as new generations of students enter the educational system at the different levels. The conventional "one interface rules them all" does no longer fit the technological habitat of millennials. Therefore, educational and learning has to broaden their views on digital learning experiences across a wide range of devices. This presentation sets the stage for this process that relies heavily on interoperability and standards, so that new technologies can be easily integrated into learning experiences. One of such standards is XAPI that has been tested in the field with adaptive experiences across devices. This is presented on 29 Nov 2019 at OnlineEduca Berlin.
This presentation reports on the insights on the coverage of future skills in the present curricula of the school of life science and facility management at ZHAW. It uses the DigiComp Edu framework as a taxonomy for scanning the school's official course catalog towards the present presence of future skills in the curricula. This yielded interesting insights that serve as a baseline for integrating future skills/computational thinking into the curricula.

Designing Mobile Inquiry-based Learning Activities: Learners' Agency and Tech...Christian Glahn
Inquiry-based learning (IBL) puts the learners' curiosity into the center of educational experiences. Designing IBL requires to consider the learners' agency in their own learning. As if designing learning activities is not complex enough, learner agency adds an additional layer of design decisions. Based on prior research and projects with different audiences, this workshop structures the design space for creating inquiry learning experiences.
This slidedeck is part of a hands-on workshop for designing mobile IBL experiences. The workshop took place on 11 April 2019 at IADIS Mobile Learning conferences in Utrecht.
Learning analytics offers great opportunities but also can feel scary at times to educators and learners. Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
