Native and Invasive
Plants on Campus
By: Lauren and Gabi
What Are Invasive
Plants?
Plants brought here from
another state or country
Invasive plants could escape
cultivation by their seeds.
Why Are Invasive
Plants Bad?
They mature or
grow faster than
native plants, so
they gain territory
quicker.
There are many croton plants
on our campus. They were
planted here because they
spread quickly.
Information About
Invasive Plants
Invasive plants are bad
because:
They grow faster than
native plants.
Invasive plants have
competed with other
plants, unlike native
plants.
When Invasive plants are
brought, sometimes
Invasive species come
with them.
Solutions on Getting
Rid of Invasive Plants
Have maintenance
remove invasive
plants, and replace
with native plants.
Dig out all of the
roots, and make
sure that there are
no seeds on the
ground.
Wonders That We
Still Have
If the Strawberry Guava tree is
successfully eradicated, what will the bugs
do? Will they go for native plants that are
similar to the Strawberry Guava tree?
Will we be able to complete our plan in
our 5th grade year?
Who will continue our plan when we are in
middle school?
